The Flash Season 4 Episode 4 Review

After last week's review of the Flash, I was able to calm down a little from my anger towards the treatment of Wally West and though I will be forever bitter until Wally returns (and is written well!) as they say the show must go on. Luckily I was able to the watch the episode without feeling too much residual anger so I ended up liking the episode. Straight up I'm pretty sure I didn't stop laughing the whole first half of the episode. After a while though the jokes got a bit too much for me and I started to wonder how much longer the show would go on so it was a mixed bag.

Let's start with Elongated Man aka Ralph Dibny. His powers are horrifying to see done live action. I was right there alongside Joe almost vomiting every time he stretched himself out. I loved everything to do with him though from Joe freaking out over him to Caitlin wanting Barry to give him a chance. I can't decide if I like him as a character or not yet. He seems too douchey for me to really like because though I understood his frustration with Barry, he was a dick to everyone else and not in a fun way like Harry but in a creepy way. His opening scene had him hitting on a grieving woman and then he was creepy with Caitlin and Iris and ugh all the heebie jeebies. For the love of everything, DO NOT PUT HIM WITH CAITLIN OR I WILL LOSE IT. I did side with him over Barry cause ugh I can totally see young Barry as this arrogant ass who thinks he knows everything and goes around ruining people's lives. Then again, Ralph seemed to lean into this dirty cop persona throughout his time after leaving the CCPD so who knows. So many heebie jeebies!

The only problem was that I feel like the show plays kind of hard and fast with it's metas. Team Flash gave Ralph a second shot just because we know he's going to be a hero but the character didn't really do anything to earn it meanwhile someone like Hazard who didn't really mean to do anything wrong was immediately locked up when she was caught. Also Barry sitting in the dark of Ralph's office was so supervillainy that I feel like the show does this on purpose.

Speaking of Caitlin, we did a little from her tonight when she freaked out at Barry for refusing to see Ralph as anything but a villain because she knew what it was like to be a villain and wanting a second chance. I want to know more about her time away from the team and how she learned to control her Killer Frost powers and who this gang leader is that she joined and why they are so desperate to get her back though I guess the real question is do they want Caitlin or Killer Frost?

Cisco and Gypsy's dad were hilarious this episode and I could not believe that they got Danny Trejo to be on the Flash! I loved that Breacher was like I'm going to kill everyone who's dating my daughter and that Gypsy was like so resigned and not even surprised that her dad wanted to do this. Though this led to a hilarious scene, I feel like Gypsy would be more upset by this cause like what girl would be cool with her dad being THIS overprotective. I mean Cisco said it straight out, isn't it Gypsy's choice who she's with? I did enjoy the hunt through Star Labs and that in the end Cisco gained Breacher's respect by standing up for his friends. Some of the best scenes of the episode were with Harry and Cisco. I died when Harry tried to pump up Cisco but then was all don't even look at Jessie and then when Cisco was packing to hide from Breacher and Harry was like trying to pep him up while also nodding off on stuff Cisco was taking.

Quick thing about the tone of the show. Like I said before I did laugh a whole lot during this episode but honestly it's starting to feel like a parody of itself now with how utterly campy it's gotten. A light tone and joking shouldn't make a show feel like a joke itself. Even Legends doesn't feel this way and I'm not sure what it is but whatever it is, the show needs to dial it down a little. I know we're watching a superhero show but I don't want to be taken out every time something utterly silly happens.

Next week looks awesome. Felicity is on the show and it looks like it's the bachelor/bachelorette episode and it looks hilarious. Quick question though why would Iris bring Cecile with her? Like I know Iris doesn't have any friends outside of Team Flash and Felicity but her dad's girlfriend really? Also that reminds me, Iris has this running this where she talks about how hot Oliver is and Barry is always like seriously Iris and Caitlin played along tonight and I couldn't stop grinning. Felicity is a lucky girl. I'd pick Stephen Amell over Grant Gustin any time any place lol.

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 4 Review

This was such an intense episode of Supergirl and I enjoyed it so much. My first thought was that this episode felt so strange and different from anything we've seen in not only Supergirl but any of the Arrowverse shows but when I thought about it a little longer it didn't feel so strange after all. The season was the perfect time to air this episode because not only did this episode's tone fit the darker tone of this season but it also fit the theme of Kara deciding who she wants to be now and whether she is human at all.

First of all I just want to give all the props. This episode played with religion so well and it didn't have to resort to any cheap tricks. I loved that the villain of the episode wasn't really even a villain and that Kara couldn't save the day by punching someone. I loved that his faith wasn't shaken even after everything and I loved how the episode ended by showing us J'onn and Mry'nn praying as well as Kara with her hologram mother.

The scene where Kara went to stop the bomb from going off was so cool and so different. I loved how there was Kryptonite in it and that it depowered Kara enough so that she could show the followers that she was no God and that she could bleed like all of them. Though I did chuckle with how quickly the followers ran away cause they clearly didn't believe as strongly as our villain. I also loved how she ended up solving the problem though I don't think dropping a bomb into the Earth was a great plan ultimately. I'm also glad the show explained how these followers actually got the words of Rao cause I was confused about that in the beginning.

I still don't give a single shit about Samantha and Ruby. I'm warming up to Samantha as a character but I could still do without giving her storylines or screentime to be honest. Every episode Ruby just seems like more of a brat. What child her age doesn't understand that her mother is busy and that it's hard running a company?? Like I get that Ruby is probably used to more time with her mom but she's old enough to understand that things are different now. Samantha is literally running a company! I did enjoy the girls night that Kara had though. It's nice to see Kara hang out with girl friends especially since none of the other Arrowverse shows allow their female characters to have friends let alone girl friends outside of their boyfriends.

PS I still miss Mon El and I'm glad that neither the show or Kara have forgotten about him yet cause that was my fear. I still have an oogy feeling that their reunion won't be a happy one based on what I've heard/read.

My favorite scene of the episode had to go to Alex tonight. I loved that she was the one to break down this week so that Kara could comfort her. I also liked the explanation that Alex gave about loving Maggie so much that she wanted to suppress her want for children cause it totally explains why she kept dodging the question of whether she wanted kids and agreeing with Maggie without telling Maggie the truth when clearly she disagreed. I wonder if this is it for them next week. I wish the show would explain why Maggie is so hell bent on not having children. Why must Alex be the one to compromise?

Oh also it looks like James and Winn are still doing their Guardian stuff. And here I was hoping James had dropped that last season. Sigh.

The promo for next week was a bit confusing until I read the synopsis. It looks like something poisons the water of National City and Morgan Edge blaims Lena's lead bomb. First of all thrilled to see another Lena centric episode and secondly so glad to see Morgan Edge again! I'm loving that this season there are so many more episodes centered around supporting characters cause it gives our supporting characters more dimensions! I have been ranting and complaining about The Flash and how it treats it's supporting cast so I'm thrilled by this.

Arrow Season 6 Episode 3 Review

Tonight's episode of Arrow was near perfection. I loved every single moment that I experienced and it really just gives me a rush of affection whenever I truly enjoy an episode of Arrow as it is my baby.

Can we take a moment to slow clap the effects and editing before we get into the show? Arrow is always great with it's editing and fight scenes so I don't usually mention it unless something really sticks out and I don't know what it was but there was so many cool moments tonight! Like the scene where Dinah used her Canary Cry to push Diggle or that fight scene outside the limo that was filmed from inside! I love how much of a team show Arrow has become (which is funny cause you know I wasn't feeling the team in the beginning of last season) so that slow motion shot of all the team members jumping off the balcony was so badass! You know what feeling I'm talking about. It's the feeling you get when you first see the Avengers together or when you get a roving shot of the Arrowverse team during a crossover or when in Star Wars ships jump out of hyperspace! Ugh it's the best feeling.

Okay enough of that, let's jump into the episode and let's start with Diggle! I loved that the opening of Arrow started with John Diggle is the Green Arrow and honestly I was seriously surprised that Oliver didn't take back the mantle by the end of the episode though if he did, I would have been real annoyed cause that would make everything he did last week moot. I loved seeing Diggle struggle to have faith in himself to make the right calls and his bond with Dinah. I always love when in teams, someone will be mad at the leader but back his/her call in front of others so I loved seeing Dinah support Diggle. Now let's talk about the elephant in the room. I seriously gasped out loud when I saw Diggle inject himself with something. Holy shit John that's a god awful idea! I don't know why he can't go to Felicity and Curtis and ask for help instead! I mean Curtis literally invented something that cured Felicity's spinal cord damage so I'm sure he can find something to help Diggle with his tremors! Ugh this is going to end so poorly and I will lose it if Diggle dies or gets really hurt!

Oliver spent most of the episode doing Mayoral stuff. I still hate this whole hunt the vigilantes thing cause I will never understand the difference between vigilantes v superheroes and Green Arrow v Flash or Supergirl. Ugh remember when Central City got all pissy cause Flash disappeared for a day? People sure don't feel the same in Star City even though Green Arrow has saved their asses so many times! I'm hoping this city wide vote on the anti-vigilante act will prove that though the politicians may have a problem with Green Arrow, the people do not. Cause seriously, the Green Arrow deserves love too!

The FBI agent is still around which is interesting and she's got a fun case board up with all of Oliver's associates and somehow she has decided that Diggle is probably the man under the hood which is a weird conclusion to jump to unless they can get a good shot of Green Arrow up close or if you know Oliver and the team! I'm interested in this story and I hope it goes somewhere better than that reporter last season. I'd like to see the show really dig in here!

Oliver's other problem was with William who I still dislike but less so cause he didn't do anything irritating tonight so points to him. I will never truly accept William until he accepts Oliver as the Green Arrow so the jury will be out until then. We got another irritating line from him about how Oliver is not going to be the Other Guy as if Oliver is some sort of serial killer ugh. It was really cute to see Oliver freaking out because William was freaking out because he had a math test he thought he was going to fail. I loved seeing Felicity tutor William and she was amazing with him which Oliver noticed too! His heart eyes were hardcore adorable and I think they're officially back together now? I actually laughed when William goes she's super cool and Oliver's like yeah she is.

Next week is the return of Black Siren and it looks like we're getting more Diggle as Green Arrow! Black Siren is pretty fun so I'm excited to see what happens. I love how she was like you seem different to Diggle Green Arrow and I'm like yeah he's a different person. I get that I need to suspend my disbelief á la glasses hide Supergirl's identity but dude Green Arrow just changed races so....

The Flash Season 4 Episode 3 Review

Guys I'm sorry but I can't help but despise this episode with every fiber of my being and for the life of me I cannot detach myself from my anger and look at this show in an unbiased way. Why do I feel this way? Two words: Wally West.

If you know me at all you know that Wally West is my favorite Flash and one of my favorite DC characters in general and I loved Keiynan's performance as Wally but for so long I was annoyed with this show because they kept giving the shaft to Wally and pretty much refusing to write him not only well but pretty much at all. The one and only time he actually had some substance to play with was when Wally was first introduced and after that he became just a background character. The show never knew what to do with him or what to write for him and I was slowly losing patience for it but tonight just took the cake. 1. Jessie dumped him for no reason and didn't even bother to do it in person. 2. Harry was the one to ultimately tell him and not in any sort of sympathetic way. 3. No one cared that he was upset cause if this was Barry or Iris or even Cisco (remember how much time was spent on Cisco freaking out over Gypsy being mad at him) we'd get some conversations about how he was feeling. 4. HE LITERALLY LEFT DURING THEIR BIG BATTLE WITH BECKY AND NO ONE NOTICED. 5. He was written off the show in the tackiest way ever. 6. NO ONE TRIED TO STOP HIM OR CONVINCE HIM TO STAY. 7. Neither Iris or Joe even teared up at the thought of losing a family member. 8. WALLY WAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE SECOND HE STEPPED OUT THE DOOR.

I was sitting throughout the entire episode like so is Wally okay? Does anyone care that he is upset? Where is Wally? Why isn't he helping Barry? But nope. Let's instead focus on Harry cause the damn show can write for as many Harrison as they want but Wally is too hard. Why bring Wally onto the show if the show didn't know what to do with him? When Roy was written off of Arrow, he had a great three seasons of story and left by sacrificing himself for Oliver. WHY COULDN'T WALLY GET THAT? The show literally took every villain and every storyline that Wally had in the comics and gave them to Barry and then was like deuces Wally.

Now I don't know if Wally leaving is due to Keiynan wanting to be done with The Flash like Colton did when he was written off of Arrow but I don't think so cause Keiynan never said anything and seemed to love being Wally so I'm leaning towards more like the show wrote him off. If that's the case, I really really really hope that he can go to Legends or maybe pop up on Titans (if that's set in the same universe.) Really anywhere would be better than the Flash cause he might get something to do. I'll miss you Keiynan and Wally West.

Oh and I suppose some other shit went down that I didn't care about. Jessie kicked Harry out of Earth 2 basically cause he kept trying to control everything with Team Jessie Quick so that's why he was all pouty. Cisco convinced him to stay on Earth 1 with the team. Cecile and Joe debated moving to a smaller place but Cecile is pregnant so that probably won't happen. Barry and Iris almost got married tonight cause they're worried that shit keeps ruining their plans but they didn't. Sidenote: Iris did look absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. Oh and Becky who was the Big Bad of the episode created bad luck for everyone which the show solved with #science.

The most interesting part of the episode was with the Thinker. The new metas that were created apparently got their powers when Barry opened up the breech back in the premiere showcasing once again that he is the worst and he ruins lives. The most interesting part was that The Thinker somehow influenced things so that the bus was not only full of potential subjects that he was following but that the bus would be right where the breech opened.

Elongated Man is going to pop up next week. Yay.

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 3 Review

That was not fair Supergirl. You did not prepare me for how much I was going to cry tonight!!! This has to be one of the best episodes of Supergirl yet. I always feel as though the bottle episodes are stronger than most of the others and where Flash is strongest with the Wests and Arrow is strongest with the original trio, Supergirl is strongest when it focuses on family.

This slightly darker tone is really benefiting the show and allowing it to play around in new worlds that we previously couldn't explore without it feeling out of place. This season is about Kara rediscovering what it means to be human and to relive her pain of losing her whole world and this episode played so nicely into that theme while putting the spotlight on different characters.

Let's start with the Maggie and her dad storyline. First of all, what a terrible horrible father. I will never understand how families cannot love each other unconditionally so from the beginning I was predisposed to dislike Maggie's father. I cannot even imagine the pain that Maggie has gone through and this was the first time we learned the whole story and wow did it make me tear up. Maggie is so so very strong for being able to live through what she did and even more than that, learn to thrive because I don't know that I would be strong enough to do the same. The show played her father as not the worst and I can understand that Maggie still loved him but I just couldn't see him as anything other than horrible. Because of this, I wondered if I would be okay if they reconciled but when he did come to the bridal shower and took out that baby photo of Maggie and kissed it, I'm not going to lie I started to cry and I so wanted them to work things out. Unfortunately this didn't happen and I still don't really understand why her father hates her being a lesbian so much. It seemed than he was more upset with Maggie choosing a harder life for herself than he wanted (as if it's a choice and not the way she was born) rather than an actual uncomfort with her being gay. The episode ended without them patching things up and I kind of am a little glad for it because Maggie deserves better.

This episode made me love Maggie and now I'm going to be heartbroken when they break up so damn you show! They touched on the kids v no kids topic again and Alex is still lying about being okay with not having kids. She needs to tell Maggie the truth because who knows but maybe just maybe Maggie would change her mind or compromise. By hiding the way she feels and pushing it down, it's just going to all rush out at the worst time!

The other storyline in this episode dealt with J'onn and finding his father Mry'nn to be alive and guys this whole storyline had me sobbing like a baby. Can we get a slow clap for David Harewood and his amazing acting this episode? From the anxious excitement that J'onn felt when he realized that his father was alive to the heartbreak in his face when Mry'nn refused to believe him all the way to the scene where Mry'nn realized that he really was J'onn was beyond perfect. I cried and cried when J'onn showed Mry'nn his memory of his birthday and when Mry'nn sobbed his apology to J'onn for not believing who he was. Oh man that just wasn't fair. I love that J'onn brought Mry'nn back to Earth with him and hopefully that means we'll see more of him!

The White Martian Resistance was actually pretty full of assholes which was super surprising. The fact that they had no qualms about killing Mry'nn to save themselves was real strange cause didn't they want to be better than the White Martians who killed all the Green Martians? I guess that the point of all that was to show an arc to the end where the White Martians gave the Staff to Kara and J'onn and decided that they wanted to be different.

Oh and also one of the best parts of the episode was J'onn's shape-shifting car and that scene where Kara drove it into the cave to distract the White Martians by pretending she was lost. It was very reminiscent of old Kara. I love the arc that Kara is going through this season and how real and mature she's depicted to be in this season.

The promo for next week looks fascinating! There seems to be a Supergirl worshipping cult that was formed which is literally one of the most interesting ideas that not just this show but any of the Arrowverse shows has tried. It fits in perfectly with the theme of who is Kara this season and whether she can still be human or if she's better than that. I can't wait to see how the episode goes!

Arrow Season 6 Episode 2 Review

This was a fun episode. I love how different Arrow is compared to all the other shows most of the time but sometimes it's a little too heavy on the day to day. Tonight's episode was a good one until the end.

So if you were wondering, yes William is still a pain in the ass. I was almost so close to liking him as a character though as the episode came to close until the end when Oliver decided he wanted to give up being the Green Arrow so that he could protect William. Now this would be all exciting and fun if not for the fact that not only do I not think this will last (in the same way as The Flash couldn't function without Barry) but we literally just saw shades of this last season. It hasn't been long enough for the hype to go down. We want to see Oliver as the Green Arrow kicking ass! Anyway back to William, I was a fan of their bonding tonight and I loved how Oliver's advice to William about bullying was punch the biggest guy in the nose. Oliver, that's not how you parent. I'm still confused as to why William hasn't met the team. If he did maybe knowing that Oliver has backup would help him feel better about Oliver out on the streets.

I love the FBI investigator and how she's not an idiot like every other law enforcement person we see on shows like this. I loved that she called bullshit on this whole Oliver is not the Green Arrow thing cause Oliver literally half-threatened her into backing off of Oliver and dude she would have to be an idiot to not pick up on that! I wonder how much of her we'll see this season. My only gripe with this investigation is why is Green Arrow being studied? Flash and Supergirl are revered in their cities. They work with the police and no one is investigating them. What makes Green Arrow different cause the Hood was the one killing people and everyone thinks the Hood and Green Arrow are different so what gives show?

Also I still need an explanation on the wonky timeline between Arrow and Flash. Is Flash a month ahead of Arrow or did Arrow's finale take place a month after Flash's so they're at the same time? Cause we saw that newspaper in Central City saying that Oliver is the Green Arrow but as we saw tonight, the photo was fake and he was cleared of charges (technically.)

Felicity and Curtis are starting their own company FINALLY! Smoak Industries anyone? I'm so pumped for this cause I love when characters get their own storylines especially the love interests who I will not stop crowing that they are more than just the girlfriend. I love when the show answers questions that the viewers have about logistics. Last season they told us that Felicity had a huge severance package like Oliver did when she lost Palmer Tech which is how she has money but I'm excited to see what happens with this company! I do miss the Oliver and Felicity scenes but I know Oliver is a little busy with his son so I'll let it slide for now.

So it seems that Diggle has some nerve damage and that's why he can't shoot anymore which I cannot decide if I like better than PTSD or not. Dinah was all up in his business about it in a really annoying way and they showed us multiple times that she was in trouble but he couldn't help. I really thought the last time he would shoot the gun cause I refused to believe that they would show us the same scene for the third time but nope that's what the show did. I don't know why it's such a huge deal though that he can't shoot cause he can still fight so like why can't he get a bow staff like Dinah or something and fight with that? He and Rene are the only ones who shoot guns which isn't a very superhero thing anyway so why not? I'm curious to see if he'll struggle to shoot arrows too or if it's just specifically a struggle with his gun.

Anatoli came back tonight and was the Big Bad of the week. I love him so I was thrilled to see him though I wasn't expecting him at all which made it extra fun. Unfortunately it's some strange version of Anatoli who's like half lost his mind and thinks Oliver is his enemy (reasons still unclear.) I know there were some rumors that he would be the Big Bad of the season and I think that'd be really fun cause the more he's on screen, the better! I loved his jabs about how he's an honorable villain cause he didn't touch Oliver's son (or his loved ones) and I wonder if that's a nod towards Chase from his end.

Next week's promo showed Diggle as Green Arrow and it looks like he's going to have some trouble. I wonder if that's how Oliver will take the Green Arrow mantle back. Also that's bullshit cause Diggle has been out in the field leading with Oliver so many times. Plus did we forget about when Oliver and Felicity went on vacation for months and left Star City to Diggle, Thea and Laurel? He did fine then until Damien Darkh showed up! Anyway hope we see more of Felicity and Curtis's new company and hopefully William stops being a baby sometime soon (I have no sympathy so don't ask.)

The Flash Season 4 Episode 2 Review

Okay I take back every negative thing I've said while watching the Flash previews for tonight's episode. I have never laughed or enjoyed an episode of the Flash more than I did tonight!

I loved that Barry and Iris's problems weren't just about who's in charge of Team Flash but actually had a deeper meaning in that Iris was still upset that Barry left her six months ago. I loved that they had an actual fight about it though I don't know if they ever really solved it because it seemed like they hand waved it away by Barry saying sorry which the show does a lot. I did not think I was going to like couple's therapy cause I hate when shows do that cheesy stuff but I actually laughed so hard. The deadpan way that Iris and Barry said metaphorically or emotionally to explain a superhero problem made me die. Them listing off everyone who died, I died myself.

Speaking of, I loved that scene when Barry picked up that newspaper and it said Mayor Oliver Queen is Green Arrow and how freaked he looked and how Iris was like we'll talk about that later. I just love how connected the Arrowverse shows make the world feel. But on a different note, I'm a little confused by the timelines. Arrow jumped ahead 5 months but Flash and Supergirl jumped 6 so was this a low key spoiler for the Green Arrow reveal storyline (aka Oliver doesn't deny it and embraces it like the comics) on Arrow or did the Arrow writers screw up and meant to say there was a 6 month jump or were we supposed to think the finale of Arrow happened one month after the Flash's? I have questions.

It was fun seeing Dominic Burgess on tonight's episode (aka Ember from Magicians) though I had the hardest time placing him cause I was sitting there like this guy looks so familiar! I love that it seems like we haven't seen the end of him. Seeing the Thinker at the end made me wonder if the Thinker is planning on creating a Rogues Gallery to fight Barry since he himself can't physically fight. I would love that cause the Flash's Rogues are so much fun though it's also sad cause my favorite Rogues are probably not going to be a part of it cause it seems that something else happened outside of Central City to create metas and those are the metas the Thinker is collecting. I'm so excited.

Caitlin didn't get much to do this week which was unfortunate. It seemed she traded off with Cisco who had nothing to do last week. Let's not even talk about my baby Wally who was shafted aside TWICE this episode. Let's have a moment of silence for the Wally we could have got but didn't. But no seriously, WHY HAVE WALLY ON THE SHOW AT ALL IF ALL HE'S GOING TO DO IS NOTHING? You're telling me that Wally West couldn't speed away from whatever that slow charging thing Barry shot out of his hand? Also remember when Wally was into racing cars and mechanics? WHY DIDN'T HE DO ANYTHING WITH THE CAR? Don't you need to have some sort of experience with them to even take them apart? I kind of wish he wasn't even on the show cause all it does is piss me off. I'm not saying that he should be the best or anything (though in my personal opinion he is), just give him some good screen time or a storyline for the love of everything. Even the sidekicks on Arrow are written better than this!!

Cisco and Gypsy are still precious and though I'm kind of low key shipping Cisco and Caitlin all of a sudden, I still loved all the moments we got tonight. I loved that Cisco kept cancelling on Gypsy on her Earth's version of Valentine's Day and that she was pissed but acting like she was fine and Cisco was dumb enough to believe that (Caitlin's reactions were the best.) I also loved that they were able to work it out in the end and communicate like adults. Also is it just me or was it really hot every time Cisco called her baby?

Next week's episode looks silly but in a fun way. I've decided to embrace this return to extremely funny tone that the Flash is trying to do because though I was hesitant last week, I really did enjoy tonight's episode. I figure that the Arrowverse team was like well last year Flash and Arrow were dark while Supergirl and Legends were fun so this year Flash and Legends will be fun and Arrow and Supergirl can be dark which I am perfectly fine with!

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 2 Review

Tonight's episode of Supergirl was even better than the premiere! I'm still loving that for once something that happened in the previous season is actually affecting more than a few minutes in the new season! Though I do love my happy Kara, I love seeing a new Kara and I love that her sadness isn't just about Mon El but also about her Kryptonian family!

Okay let's start with Kara and how much I loved tonight's villain. Not only was I pumped that Yael was here and killing it with the acting, I loved how the villain actually played such a huge role in the story. Cause we all know that despite whatever happens, Kara will be fine and so will everyone else and that she'll catch the villain in the end so many times the villain is barely an afterthought in the episode (I can think of multiple Flash episodes like this) but tonight was how one-off villains should be written in! She was able to dig into Kara's fear when she left Krypton and then her fear of how she killed Mon El and holy hell Melissa's acting in those scenes blew me away!!

I loved that she opened up to Winn about it and I kept yelling at Winn to hug her already damn it but he didn't which threw me. Sometimes Winn (and usually James) just seems like an afterthought in this show and this was one of those moments. Like if Winn was written off, would anything change? Also straight up never tell Winn anything you don't want anyone else to know.

Speaking of, I know it led to the best scene of the night with Alex and Kara but like Alex had no right to dig into Winn like that. Speaking as a sister myself, it's not right to force someone else to tell your sibling's secret. Alex knew something was going on but instead of going to Kara, she went to Winn and then she walked right into Kara's apartment and interrupted her meditation and prayer. I have not been thrilled with how Alex has played her concern for Kara so far but all that turned around in this scene. I loved Alex listening to Kara without interrupting and then told her that she would always have Alex. And that little hopping thing she did to hug Kara? I have never seen more of a sister moment on TV than that!!! I also loved the last scene with them hugging on the couch and watching The Wizard of Oz. I've missed seeing the Danvers sisters together but I understood why we got so few of those moments last season cause both girls were in relationships.

Speaking of relationships, I think I know what's going to break up Alex and Maggie now. There was a quick mention of how Alex wants kids but Maggie doesn't and I'm not sure if it's cause I know Floriana is leaving so I've been looking for signs or what but that was a huge red flag. Also their fight about band v DJ seemed a little more heated than cute old married couple fight though it did lead to some funny moments with Winn and J'onn. I'm kind of going to really like it if the kids thing will actually break them up cause it's such a real issue with couples and it's so much more believable than the other reasons Arrowverse couples break up.

Is it just me or were there sparks between Lena and James tonight? I know some people mentioned it last week but I didn't notice anything until the end of this episode when they were saying goodbye. I was all for this storyline of Lena as CEO last week and I'm still all for it this week cause it's finally giving James SOMETHING interesting to do and I love seeing Lena as more than just Kara's best friend. The struggle with these Arrowverse shows is that so many times characters (especially female characters: looking at you Iris) go from full multidimensional characters to simply what they are to the main character aka love interest, best friend, etc. And I get it cause it's not their show but so many shows are able to write storylines for other characters so why can't I expect more from my superhero shows?

I don't like this stuff with Samantha aka Reign. I've been trying to give it a chance cause I know she's the villain and I love the idea of getting to see our Big Bad become the Big Bad but I just can't get myself to enjoy the stuff we get with her when there's so much more exciting things to see! Maybe this idea would have worked better if she had been a character since season 1 or 2 but now it's just a matter of watching to see what turns her. Also her kid is one of the dumbest I have ever seen and you know how much I hate kids on tv shows. I was watching her run onto the crime scene like I hope you die kid with how completely idiotic you are.

Next week looks like a lot of fun! It's a J'onn centric episode and those are always fun no matter how much the show has turned the Martian Manhunter into such a loser that he probably couldn't even psychically win against a baby. It's really interesting that he's bringing Kara with him but I'm more excited about meeting J'onn's dad! I hope this is the jump he needs to be the awesome hero that he can be! I can't wait to see Mars either!

Arrow Season 6 Episode 1 Review

I'm so not a fan of moving Arrow to Thursdays cause now I have to wait an extra day to get my Arrow fix which is so unfortunate cause you know Arrow has such a special place in my heart being the first DCTV show I fell in love with! Unfortunately something about this premiere felt a little off to me. It was paced a little weird and felt like it was setting up pieces a lot more than anything else. Let's dive in shall we?

So part of my problem is that I super don't care for William. I don't like kids in tv shows and it's going to be the struggle for me to watch this whole season revolve around Oliver as a dad. Ugh that's the stuff of sitcoms. I can understand why William blames Oliver for his mother's death but like at the same time, Oliver didn't force a crazy person to kidnap him or kill his mom so I need William to ease up on that. I also have a feeling that William's going to try to get Oliver to hang up the Green Arrow hood which I am also not a fan of. I'm not sure why but I always thought William would have been more of a happy kid cause isn't he a huge fan of superheroes and the Flash so this William threw me for a loop. Though with the way this kid broods, it's obvious he's Oliver's kid. The best part of this storyline is that Oliver now has a new apartment (that looks just like Felicity's like so much so that for a while I thought is was one and the same) and that Raisa is back.

But now onto positives. I loved how the show slowly revealed who was alive as though it was a big surprise but it's ironic cause half of the cast has been seen filming other stuff or has been mentioned on the other Arrowverse shows so the surprise was a bit ruined. Also how hilarious is it that all the explosions caused barely any damage to Lian Yu and the only one who died was stupid Samantha who decided that running around on an island with bombs was a great idea. Poor Thea is in a coma because of her. Do we think Thea will wake up by the midseason finale?

The flashbacks were a little weird though cause we only saw a few snippets and it seemed abrupt. How did a plane save everyone? And how much time passed that the team actually felt safe enough to go out and look for other survivors? Why didn't we get a scene of Oliver finding Diggle and Felicity? I wonder if we'll be getting more flashbacks as the season goes on because I feel like everything that happened on the island was hand waved away. Also why did Arrow jump 5 months in the future but all the other Arrowverse shows jumped 6?

It also looks like Diggle is going through some PTSD or something cause he's been struggling to shoot his gun which is confusing cause all we saw from him was a bunch of explosions and you would think after serving in multiple tours and working as Spartan, he'd be used to them. I feel like there must be more to the story that we haven't seen yet hence my wonder if we'll get more island flashbacks in the future. Also did anyone else notice something weird going on between Dinah and Diggle? Like why is she so pissed that he hasn't been shooting his gun and what was up with that slow zoom onto their hands as she shoved his gun against his chest?

Speaking of Dinah, I freaking love her Black Canary outfit and I love her character so much. Her feud with Black Siren is so much fun to watch and I'm glad she's such a good friend to Quentin. Curtis's tech seems to have evolved too and that's fun. Rene also got a new suit which is an upgrade and he'll probably get Zoey back too now that Oliver gave him a new custody hearing!

I can't tell if the show wants to redeem Black Siren or not cause there are moments like last season when she was hesitant to hurt Quentin but then she goes and not only teams up with Adrian to kill everyone including Quentin but then also tells Quentin that she would have shot him if the chance came. I wonder if she's just putting up a front now cause she's hurt that Quentin shot her. But I'm also curious about how she survived not only the bombs but also the gunshot. Like it seemed as though the gunshot just caused her to faint and then wake back up. She doesn't have an extra meta ability for healing does she? I did chuckle at her joke about wanting fishnets in her Black Canary costume. I see what you did there show.

Felicity and Oliver were weird. They seemed to be in a friendlier place than the start of last season but I expected them to be more like season 4. They seemed like they were going to restart their relationship after the end of last season and according to rumors, they're going to be married this season but like they barely spoke to each other this week? Maybe the show will jump forward a month at some point before the crossover to catch up with the rest and the show will hand wave them back in love? Also I wonder if we'll see Felicity back at Palmer Tech or running Smoak Industries this season cause I know there were rumors of that.

I didn't get to see the promo for next week and honestly I'm not even sure who our big bad is this year. We caught a glimpse of someone helping Black Siren up at the end of the episode but the show has been tight-lipped about who will be our season long villain. I think it would be fun if it was Joey aka Slade's son cause why else would the show talk about him so much. Ooh or maybe Anatoli and the Bratva!
