What Dramas Am I Watching This Week?

Here's what I'm watching this week! Of course the list is split by country and episodes I've seen so far are written below! There will be spoilers from now on so if you aren't caught to the episode number I list, you might want to go watch that episode and then come back! If you're interested in previous lists, click here and if you want to see a list of my favorite asian OTPs and ships, click here!

KDRAMA

My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (10/16): Adapted from a popular webtoon, this drama tells of Kang Mi Rae, a girl once bullied for her looks. As a result, she became insecure, cautious around people and withdrawn. However, Mi Rae decides she wants a fresh start away from bullying and gets plastic surgery to transform her face. When she begins university, she meets Do Kyung Suk from their middle school days, who sees people for what they are on the inside and not the outside; he then becomes attracted to Kang Mi Rae. As Mi Rae begins to get teased once more and labeled "Gangnam Beauty", the cold, aloof but kind inside Kyung Suk becomes the one person that stands up for her and in the process, Mi Rae begins to recover her lost confidence and discovers that true beauty is not on the outside.

I'm feeling weird about this show as it goes on cause I'm enjoying pretty much everything except Mi Rae herself which sucks cause she's the main character of the show. The actress cannot act for the life of her and she literally has like two expressions and one of them makes her look uncomfortable all the time. The romance between her and Kyung Suk should be cute but instead it's just making me cringe which is a sign I'm not a fan. I'm hoping that once they actually admit their feelings for each other that maybe it'll feel less weird to me cause I do want to enjoy it. Other than the romance, I'm really enjoying watching Kyunk Suk and his mom get to know each other again which was my favorite part this week though it was weird as hell that Mi Rae tagged along cause I know she's the main character and everything but girl read a room! I'm thrilled that the truth about Kyung Suk's mom is out now and that everyone knows the truth cause the asshole dad doesn't deserve to be the good guy. I am worried about Kyung Suk's sister though cause she sort of just vanished! Also a great moment was when Soo Ah finally told Mi Rae how she felt about her and I'm so glad that Mi Rae snapped back cause I was afraid that Soo Ah would tell Mi Rae that she likes Kyung Suk and Mi Rae would back off like most drama leads do and I wouldn't have been thrilled if that happened.
Thirty But Seventeen/Still Seventeen (20/32): Woo Seo Ri, a violin prodigy at 17 who was about to study in Germany, got into a bus accident and fell into a coma waking up 13 years later. Mentally she is still only 17, while physically she is now 30. Gong Woo Jin is a 30 year old single man who works as a set designer. Due to a trauma he experienced 13 years before, he does not want to have a relationship with others. This series is about a man and a woman whose lives have been mangled due to a grisly accident. Together, they use all their might to try and open the door to happiness that they once thought had been closed to them.

This week was a bit slow and I feel like it doesn't help that we only got two episodes this week instead of the usual four! I'm glad Seo Ri is back to playing the violin and got past her fear of being terrible though it took a lot longer than I would have liked. I'm sure she's going to kill it at the concert and though her violin teacher said that it's too late for her music career, I highly doubt that cause playing an instrument has no age limit like something like modeling does so I'm sure that after the concert, she'll have plenty of people lining up to get her to play for them or with them and I can't wait cause it's seriously so sad that she lost so much of her life! I'm wondering if the man who's been paying for her hospital stay is actually her uncle cause we pretty much know that it's not Woo Jin now. I know the aunt is supposed to be a good person but who leaves their niece alone for so long and doesn't even leave a contact number or anything! It's ridiculous and I can't wait to hear what excuse she comes up with. On the other hand, Woo Jin and Seo Ri are still adorable and I loved how jealous he got over the idea of her dating someone and how flustered she got when he told her she was beautiful. Give me more of them please!!
Time (20/32): This is the story of two polar opposite people that come together in tragedy. One remains stuck in time, whilst the other only has a limited amount of time left to live. Seol Ji Hyun is a woman who, although living a hard life, remains positive, upbeat and social. Cheon Soo Ho is the CEO of a restaurant and the son of a wealthy family with a terrible temper and no regard for other people. They both meet briefly under negative impressions of each other. However, their lives become entangled once more when Ji Hyun's sister dies unexpectedly in Soo Ho's residence. From there, Ji Hyun's time stops and she becomes a cold, miserable person who finds nothing to live for. But Soo Hoo, who carries heavy guilt and is drawn to her, promises to himself to use the 6 months he has left to live to help her, whose life was destroyed because of him. In the process, Soo Ho falls in love with Ji Hyun, but how far can love develop when you only have a limited time left to live?

Before I talk about the episodes this week I want to start with the news that came out this week about Kim Jung Hyun. He's leaving the show to take care of himself cause he's been going through some health stuff with overworking and ending up with an eating and sleeping disorder. Despite the fact that I'm heartbroken he's leaving cause he was the best part of this show, I do wish him well and hope that he is able to make a speedy recovery. I'll definitely look forward to his next role cause I've loved everything he's done so far. I've also read that his character will not be recast which means since the character is terminally ill anyway, the show will probably end up killing him off earlier than expected which depending on how early may make me drop this show cause I've already been on the fence about how much I'm enjoying this show since literally nothing has been progressing plot wise for weeks and Jung Hyun and the possible romance was the only thing keeping me around. Once again the first two episodes that aired this week felt a bit stagnant cause nothing really seemed to happen and I'm starting to honestly get tired of the villains constantly winning. The third and fourth episodes this week were much more intense and though I'm heartbroken with how Ji Hyun reacted to the truth, I do hope that maybe now Ji Hyun's focus will turn from trying to expose the villain crew's misdeeds and maybe focus instead of getting some sort of revenge cause we all know now that the law is not going to take our side. I'm feeling like Ji Hyun and Soo Ho are already in love with each other based on how upset she was that he was marrying Chae Ah and how he reacted when she was hurt so the marriage will probably bring that out and though I wished that the show would have gone the us against the world route after they got married, I assume that instead Soo Ho is going to do everything he can for her and then when he dies, she'll realize what she lost but I don't know how much colder she can get from here tbh but I'm kind of looking forward to her ruining everything in this rich world as long as she doesn't hurt my baby Soo Ho.
FINISHED Witch's Love (12/12): In plain sight in bustling Seoul, three generations of witches have been living below the radar of everyone around them. Kang Cho Hong operates a restaurant with her fellow witches, Maeng Ye Soon and Jo Aeng Doo. They try to keep a low profile, but Cho Hong’s youthful good looks attract the attention of a neighborhood guy, Hwang Jae Wook, who is constantly trying to get close to her. Cho Hong and her fellow witches’ quiet lives become complicated when their building landlord, Ma Sung Tae, shows up one day. Sung Tae wants to face a traumatic incident that happened to him in that building when he was a little boy. With Sung Tae nosing around their business on a regular basis, can Cho Hong keep her true identity a secret from him?

Another show that ended this week and broke my heart cause I didn't want it to end! So straight up I know that pretty much no on watched this show and at the beginning it was touch and go but once Sung Tae and Cho Hong got together, I was so so down! The amount of chemistry the two had was amazing and their kisses were killing me cause they were actual real kisses not those awkward kdrama eyes open in shock lips pressed together kisses we normally get! I loved how the show ended with a fake amnesia storyline and the reveal that the grandmothers actually saved Sung Tae's life rather than kidnapping him like he thought they did. I loved that he played along for a minute with the amnesia thing cause he was like well the woman I love wants me to act like this so maybe I should. He really was the best boyfriend! And of course he didn't care about Cho Hong being a witch which made me smile and I liked that the whole he's going to die thing was all due to the black magic witch who actually was the cause of all the trouble the witches had and that once she was dead, everything was okay. Honestly I think the romance saved the show for me cause though I love magic stuff, the magic in this was mostly an afterthought and other than Cho Hong and Sung Tae, I didn't care for pretty much anything else. I'd give it a 8.5 / 10! Is that a little high? Maybe but that's what I'm feeling right now so lay off!
FINISHED Your House Helper (32/32): The daily life of an average working woman involves: a packed subway during the rush hours, a miserable old boss, juniors clawing their way up, mounting credit card debt, and a rusty and tired body... And above all, the worst is the endless housekeeping work that awaits her at home. But what if a handsome guy appears and takes care of all the housekeeping work for her? And not only that, what if he solves the problems in her complicated and confused life? In this drama, a male house helper does housekeeping works in different women's houses and tries to solve their issues.

So this show is officially over this week and it feels right cause other than wrapping up a few loose ends there wasn't much story left. I loved that Ji Woon met his ex and they said goodbye which felt pretty real compared to how these types of goodbyes usually feel (looking at you Ximen in Meteor Garden!) Da Young and Ji Woon's relationship and how comfortable they were with teasing each other in the end was amazing and I loved that hilarious back-and-forth about how Ji Woon doesn't find Da Young attractive when she just wakes up while she is jealous of how Sang Ah is treated so well by Jin Kook. I also liked that she ended up not getting the job at the place she interned but that her mentor opened up her own ad company where she got a job. Sang Ah was also able to open up her own jewelry line and she and Jin Kook are engaged I think but I also know rings like that are basically promise rings in Korea so it could be either or in this case though if I had to pick, I'd say the second option is more likely. I was also glad that So Mi was able to forgive her brother but it was sad that we never got to see the two of them talk it out cause that would have been more impactful than her hearing about his regret from another person. It was also sad that she didn't end up with Ga Ram in the end though in my head canon they are so there. Overall I enjoyed watching this show and the themes it touched on so overall I'd give this show a 8.5 / 10!

CDRAMA

Bloody Romance (24/36): In the turbulent interregnum following the collapse of the Tang dynasty, a young daughter of a herbalist was tricked and sold into a brothel. After a harrowing escape from death, she eventually found herself in a city of female assassins. Assuming the new name of Wan Mei, she began to learn from ropes of being an assassin from Chang An, a young man who acted as her guide and warder. Over time, Wan Mei and Chang An began to develop genuine affection for each other. But Cha Luo, the leader of the assassins took a dislike to Wan Mei and plotted against the couple with her cohorts. Wan Mei's personality and gifts caused Gong Zi, the hidden owner of Gui Hua City to take a interest on her. Burdened by his hidden identity, Chang An began to distance himself from Wan Mei. The protagonists found themselves embroiled in escalating conspiracies involving deadly betrayals and struggles for power.

Ugh this is definitely the best cdrama I'm currently watching which is why it's heartbreaking that the subs don't come out fast enough! This week we got more angst from Chang An and Wan Mei but they're officially back together now as master and shadow though that only got done because Wan Mei had to take some sort of magic inside her that causes Chang An pain anytime he's within 1/3 of a meter of her which right now means nothing cause Wan Mei is still a little pissed at him but eventually it'll become more of a problem I'm assuming. We all know that she's heartbroken but rather than losing her temper whenever he's around, I did wish that Wan Mei was a little colder to him cause everyone technically knows her feels towards him but it wouldn't hurt to make it less obvious! I also don't entirely understand that other assassin who came into Guihua City with Wan Mei cause I thought after last week she was on Wan Mei's side over Cha Luo so betraying her that quickly felt a little confusing. I do love Chang An and Wan Mei though so I was living for their angst though I do wish that he would feel a little more jealous of Gong Zi but hopefully that's coming in the future. Speaking of, I still adore him and the friendship he's built with Wan Mei though trying to sleep with her wasn't the best move when he knows that she's in love with Chang An. Oh well. He did protect her and she still cares for him so I'm not too worried about that cause she was the second to kneel to him after his right hand woman.
Martial Universe (24/40): This is a drama adapted from the novel of the same name by Tian Can Tu Dou. It is a story that talks about Lin Dong, a child from a small village who isn't favored by his family. By chance, Lin Dong obtains a mysterious artifact that is coveted by many clans in the martial world. Because of this artifact, Lin Dong is approached by many people of different clans and is forcibly involved in various events of the martial universe.

It took me a while to start this drama even though I had finished Legend of Fu Yao and needed a new cdrama to take it's place because I heard that the book this drama was based off of had a harem ending in that Lin Dong fell in love with two women and married them both. Now maybe this is just me but I like my romances to be the one and only for the main character even if it's normal in this time period to have multiple wives. Eventually I started to hear rumors that this show wasn't actually a harem and that one women was Lin Dong's first love and the other was his actual true love and once I heard that, I finally checked it out and I'm glad I did cause I'm enjoying it so far! It's much sillier than I expected and it took me a second to get used to it but once I did I loved it. Lin Dong being silly and energetic was interesting since you don't usually see that kind of male lead in these shows and the same goes for Huan Huan who's adorable and for some reason didn't rub me the wrong way even though she's a bit naive at the start. I already love these two and I kind of love that both are so crazy and energetic cause we rarely see that kind of couple as one or the other is usually more serious in dramas. I'm also enjoying all other characters as well including the budding romance between Lin Dong's adoptive sister and Lang Tian and though I'm really not into how crazy Lin Dong is for Qing Zhu (cause I really don't ship them), I'm into the idea that Huan Huan's destiny is to give up all emotion to be the ice successor. Girl just needs to tone down her devotion a bit cause absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that! I did like that Lin Dong could feel as though fake Huan Huan was different cause it clearly means he's spent enough time with her to know that she wasn't the same as before but he kept dismissing it which was sad. I kind of hope this ruse continues for a little while longer even if Huan Huan is back with our crew, maybe through a kidnapping?
FINISHED Meteor Garden (50/50): An ordinary girl is admitted to the most prestigious school in the country where she encounters F4, an exclusive group comprised of the four wealthiest and handsomest boys in the school - Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men and Mei Zuo.

The finale week of Meteor Garden is here and I'm heartbroken cause despite all the ups and downs I've had while watching this show and all the craziness that the show portrayed, I've really enjoyed watching this show and it was leagues better than Hana Yori Dango which was the only previous version of this show that I've seen! I loved that the really dumb amnesia thing only took a few minutes out of one episode and that even better, it was faked by Si cause honestly amnesia where he forgot one person was always the silliest to me. The marriage proposal was honestly so them too. Like of course Si would just blurt it out over dinner like a weirdo but aside from the fact that I feel like they're too young for marriage (though that's just a me thing cause I'm older than Si and I am nowhere near ready to get married) it was sweet. I'm also a little glad that we got one last stand from Si's mom cause her approval came out of nowhere and I was straight up waiting for the entire last chunk of episodes for her to do something cause if she were to give in, it would have felt more real if she had this change of heart right after Si got stabbed not episodes later after she told off Shan Cai for the hundredth time. I love that Shan Cai and Si were able to prove to her just how much they love each other and that Si was the one to come up with a plan to say the company cause his mom straight up is the worst and didn't even bother asking her kids if they had any plans and just steamrolled over them with her ideas. Their wedding was a bit much but I guess I should have expected that in hindsight. I also adored Xiaoyou and Ximen and I loved that he finally accepted his feelings for her. I was living for how flustered ladies man Ximen was around the first girl he had real feelings for. His heart eyes made me melt and I loved that he was so shocked his smooth plan didn't work even if Xiayou didn't really care. I may or may not have fallen more in love with them in this final chunk of episodes than I ever expected to and wish that we could have gotten more from instead of Caina or even Si and Shan Cai's billionth breakup! Overall I would definitely give this show a 8.5 / 10!

TWDRAMA

DROPPED Love And π (4/15): Zhao Wu Xian, Zhao Yuan Man, Hou Zi Cheng and Lin Mei Xin are good friends who grew up together in the same orphanage in Yun Lin. In year 2009, Wu Xian, Yuan Man and Zi Cheng went to Taipei to pursue their dreams. They will be facing some challenges on the way, how will they overcome it? Yuan Man thinks of her relationship with Wu Xian as siblings whereas Wu Xian does not. He wants to protect Yuan Man forever and would like her to be his partner. However this journey of love is not smooth, and may even reach bottleneck. However, their “Love” will definitely follow the “Circle” (Yuan/π) and back on its path again.

I started this show cause it sounded kind of cute but I don't think I want to keep watching it cause I've found that a lot of TWDramas feel stagnant like there's nothing going on which sometimes I enjoy but a lot of the time I find kind of boring. In the case of this show, I'm leaning more towards boring which is sad cause I do hate dropping shows. I did enjoy the relationship between Wu Xian and Yuan Yuan cause you know me and my love for the friends to lovers trope and I liked the idea that despite knowing that they ultimately belong together, Yuan Yuan did branch out and date someone else cause I hate the idea that in these shows the female lead is always constantly waiting around for the guy she likes (like in Single Ladies Senior) so I'm down with her dating someone else before returning to Wu Xian. I also really did like the guy she dated at first cause he was so romantic and sweet but it seems as the episodes go on, he's a bit of a player and maybe not as sweet as I thought he was so I'm sort of getting over him as a character. Nothing else is holding my attention. All of the side characters are really boring and I just can't find myself wanting to watch any more episodes...

HKDRAMA

The Stunt (19/25): The Stuntmen’s main storyline centers on Tai-Chi and May-Chu, professional stunt performers for the movie industry. May plays Chun Chun's stunt double, while Duncan plays a director.

Ugh guys I'm so far down the second lead rabbit hole that it's embarrassing. Why do I always end up here? This is why I need a show to tell me who the male lead is before I start it cause otherwise I can't force myself to ignore the second lead cause in the back of my mind I hope that he could be the lead after all. I mean stupid things like the fact that May-Chu's mom compared her relationship with Duncan to the one she had with May-Chu's father. Or the fact that May-Chu reacted more to when her mom mentioned being in love with Duncan than Tai-Chi when if she had no feelings for him she wouldn't have reacted at all or been indifferent. Again it's sad cause I know May-Chu loves Tai-Chi because of how jealous she is anytime Daisy is around and the fact that Chun Chun is around to be Duncan's love interest. All of this said, the heart wants what it wants and I can't keep it from skipping a beat during Duncan's confessions and whenever you see how much happier May-Chu is around Duncan than Tai-Chi and the sweet thing is that even May-Chu knows that cause she's told several people that Duncan makes her happy so it's not just me with my shipper glasses on. Though sidebar Tai-Chi dreamt of kissing May-Chu and man was it hot so I seriously need to see Duncan kiss her now in order to compare but at the very very least I know I won't be that opposed to May-Chu picking Tai-Chi in the end (unlike in Single Ladies Senior or A Poem A Day.) If I were May-Chu I would pick Duncan especially since he's been with her every step of the way in Taiwan and Tai-Chi wasn't. Even though it wasn't his fault AT ALL that he couldn't be there for her, feelings aren't always rational and knowing that the person you love wasn't with you when you needed them the most hurts like hell.

xoxo Allie

KDRAMA

My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (8/16): Adapted from a popular webtoon, this drama tells of Kang Mi Rae, a girl once bullied for her looks.

My god isn't Soo Ah just the absolute worst? It was one thing when she kept trying to get between Mi Rae and Kyung Suk cause I just assumed she didn't want to be "beaten" by Mi Rae but after this week when she started to try to ruin another relationship, I'm stunned. She's that much of an attention seeker that she cannot let a single guy be interested in another girl besides her? It's honestly disgusting and I'm sure at some point the show will try to redeem her with a sob story and it'll allow everyone to forgive her but I'm not sure any kind of sad backstory would be enough for her to act like this. Can anyone say daddy issues? On the other hand I loved that Kyung Suk learned about what actually happened when his parents divorced and that ironically it was his dad who spit it all out trying to cover his ass in the belief that his mom already told him. I'm glad the truth came out cause I thought since last week that the relationship was a bit manipulative and I didn't like the idea that Kyung Suk blamed her for leaving but after finding out that his dad hit her hard enough to make her lose her sense of smell, it was horrific and good on her for getting out! I did like the idea that Kyung Suk was so horrified that he left home but I kind of wanted him to go stay with his mom like I assumed he would but maybe he hasn't forgiven her entirely yet so that's why he didn't go to her. Mi Rae and Kyung Suk are still adorable and I wish their date had been a little less awkward but she was worrying about trying to treat him like a friend. I'm also glad that now that they're mostly on the same page regarding his mom that we won't have to see Mi Rae go against his wishes anymore on behalf of his mom. I'm a little curious as to why every single time Kyung Suk and Soo Ah are near each other everyone starts talking about what a cute couple they are but when Mi Rae is around Kyung Suk (and that happens more often) no one says anything or even cares. It's weird as hell. Also sidebar but I actually think Eun is more beautiful than any of the girls and it throws me that the show keeps telling us that she's average looking.
Thirty But Seventeen/Still Seventeen (18/32): Woo Seo Ri, a violin prodigy at 17 who was about to study in Germany, got into a bus accident and fell into a coma waking up 13 years later.

Only two episodes aired this week and I'm heartbroken cause I adore this show! I adore how the relationship between Seo Ri and Woo Jin is progressing and honestly when I first read the description for this show I wasn't sure how the relationship would work cause even if Seo Ri is physcially 30, she was mentally 17 and it felt kind of sketch to have her fall for a 30 year old. After watching 18 episodes, I actually think the relationship really works cause Woo Jin is basically a child too after cutting off his emotions for so long and I like that neither one has has any real relationship experience so this is all new to them. Woo Jin's sister was so sweet and I loved how happy she was that Woo Jin wasn't stuck in his trauma anymore and I liked that she left after figuring out the truth and knowing that Seo Ri was the one to bring her brother's smile back. He officially knows that he likes her and Seo Ri is on her way to realizing it too. I also loved that Woo Jin decided not to sell the house and it makes me kind of hope that by the end of this show the two of them stay there with Jennifer and Fang while Chan and his friends pop by for visits. Speaking of poor Chan, I think he finally realized this week that Seo Ri and Woo Jin are into each other and it breaks my heart cause he's so adorable but I still do think that he's going to step aside cause he loves his uncle so much.
Time (16/32): This is the story of two polar opposite people that come together in tragedy.

Every week I feel more and more horrible for poor Soo Ho! He has no memory of what happened and he already thinks so lowly of himself that of course if someone told him he killed Ji Hyun's sister, he'd believe it. It's honestly so upsetting cause we were finally on the offensive with our crew getting proof that Chae Ah was a part of the hotel murder and we were able to beat the Lawyer Shin to the punch by getting the documentary aired but it was all for naught after Chae Ah convinced Soo Ho that he was the murderer by literally showing the evidence she had. I really really need our crew to find the flashdrive with the pool footage cause I absolutely refuse to believe that it's gone cause how else are we going to be able to prove that Soo Ho had nothing to do with the death?? It seriously makes my blood boil watching Chae Ah and Lawyer Shin run around like they're in the right! I was really hoping that Soo Ho would have told Ji Hyun the truth before the documentary came out but of course that would be the least dramatic way to reveal this so of course she had to find out some other way. I was surprised though that no one snitched on Soo Ho to Ji Hyun to make her leave his side though cause I really did expect someone to do it just to mess with our crew!
Witch's Love (10/12): In plain sight in bustling Seoul, three generations of witches have been living below the radar of everyone around them.

So we got an info dump this week from Jae Wook being Cho Hong's destined man to Sung Tae being told the truth about Cho Hong to who actually was hurt by the witches. It's actually kind of funny cause Jae Wook's backstory is a pretty normal kdrama main lead story in that they should be childhood lovers so in most shows he would be the one Cho Hong chooses but in this show Cho Hong (and me) has already been won over by Sung Tae. We have been told though that something weird is going on with Cho Hong and Sung Tae from the evil witch cause not only does her witch mark flickers into existence for a bit whenever she's happy with Sung Tae but stuff if happening in the witch's home so I wonder if maybe the whole destined man thing has more to do with loving someone and them loving her back rather than what we've been told so far. Having said all that, I am so glad that Cho Hong was the one to tell Sung Tae the truth cause dramas never let our characters tell the truth when there's a secret. There's ALWAYS a third party butting in! I also really want to know about Jae Wook and how him drawing a bleeding nose on Sung Tae actually made that come true. I would be super thrown if it turned out that he was a witch too or even crazier if he was the actual witch and he willed all the soup rice women into being but I have a feeling it might just be a one off or a joke added post credits. Also can we take a moment to gush about how amazing Sung Tae is? He says all the most romantic things even when he doesn't mean to and he has no problem with admitting that he's said or done something wrong and apologizing for it immediately. It's also precious that any time he gets slightly upset, Cho Hong basically charms him into forgetting it! I love that the show doesn't shy away from our leads kissing or hugging cause it makes their relationship feel more real! We also learned that the soup place is definitely where he got "kidnapped" but I have a feeling that he was actually saved by the soup witches and that Cho Hong's mom tried to kill her daughter but the witches stopped her and then used the knife to erase Cho Hong's memories somehow which is why Sung Tae thinks he was stabbed. I'm so excited and sad to see the finale next week!
Your House Helper (30/32): The daily life of an average working woman involves: a packed subway during the rush hours, a miserable old boss, juniors clawing their way up, mounting credit card debt, and a rusty and tired body...

So it was supposed to be finale week but for some reason only two episodes aired instead of four so we're going to be getting some more of this show next week which is kinda annoying cause I want all the episodes now! Honestly I feel like this show has flown by so quickly and I think it's because there's so little contrived drama that it doesn't make my blood boil or make me roll my eyes so I've just been consuming this show like popcorn. It's strange how much I actually ended up enjoying this show cause normally I can't watch shows that have no stakes and at first glance that's what's happening here but when you look at the show closer you realize that there actually are plenty of stakes and things happening but the drama is super realistic which is why it doesn't feel so intense! I loved watching all the characters grow and find themselves and find relationships! I loved that Da Yeong gave Ji Woon the address to his ex's new place regardless of how sad it made her cause it proves what an amazing person she is. I loved that So Mi confronted her brother and has gotten over her fear of men. I loved that Sang Ah followed her dream of being a jewelry designer not matter how scared she was of not being able to do it again.

CDRAMA

Bloody Romance (19/36): In the turbulent interregnum following the collapse of the Tang dynasty, a young daughter of a herbalist was tricked and sold into a brothel.

Ugh it's so nice to fall in love with a new drama cause I had been in a drama slump for a little while after I finished The Masked Lover back at the start of August. I usually like to keep up with all my currently airing dramas and binge some more but I struggled to find one I liked. I started this drama with practically no expectations and hardcore fell in love practically from the moment I started it. The idea of the show was fascinating cause I haven't seen a lot of shows with assassins in it and I liked that the world though still mystical and magical like most cdramas set in the past, it felt a little more grounded and real in a way. I loved Wan Mei's character and how she's sentimental and softhearted but still smart and strong in her own way. Naive characters or characters who know nothing but act like they know everything are my least favorite and Wan Mei though she started out a little ignorant, knew that about herself and actually asked questions rather than assuming. I love her relationship with Chang An and how it progressed. I loved that both fell in love and both knew how the other felt without having to go through the anxiety of wanting to know if the person they loved loved them too. Their breakup reason was also amazing cause it actually felt believable for once and I completely understood why both did what they did even if I wish Chang An had told her the truth cause he should have known that she would support him no matter what (you know my preference for us against the world tropes!) Gong Zi is also a really fun character and his dynamic with Wan Mei is amazing too and I love that he's still supporting her which makes me want her to see him as a good friend if not a lover (may or may not have a bit of SLS) so I'm really sad that in order for him to live, she has to die. All of the other characters in the show are fun as well and I like the amount of politics we've gotten so far. The assassination missions are so exciting as well and the only thing I'm not a fan of is Gong Zi's right hand woman who is the annoying second female lead who gets so jealous that she goes out of her way to ruin things for the main girl. Now that Wan Mei's been healed, I'm less annoyed with her but it was touch and go for a while!
Meteor Garden (41/48): An ordinary girl is admitted to the most prestigious school in the country where she encounters F4, an exclusive group comprised of the four wealthiest and handsomest boys in the school - Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men and Mei Zuo.

I adore Xiayou and Ximen and I was all about their relationship and I'm still all about it but I'm glad we ended where we did! Although we the audience know that Ximen is into Xiayou, she doesn't know that and she's got no indication from him that he likes her so it seemed really crazy of her to run around for such a long time trying to make him happy or trying to force emotions onto him cause that's what I hate in shows. I am glad though that she did give it her all before giving up and talking about dating again. I want my girl with Ximen in the end but I want her to date someone else and allow Ximen to realize how much he likes her and get jealous! She needs to make him work for it. On the other end Si and Shan Cai were doing great and of course since it's been a while since they've been anything but fluffy and adorable, it was about time for the drama to jump up again even if I don't want it. At this point I don't even understand the reasons for their breakups and hardcore I don't even care cause it's just a wait until they get back together though guys when Si cries, I do too cause he's just so precious. But let's focus on the stuff I adored this week like just how whipped Si is and how much Shan Cai wears the pants in the relationship and I'm living cause he hasn't complained for one second and I bet even if the F4 say something about him being whipped, he'd be like yes all proud. He's so adorable.

HKDRAMA

The Stunt (9/25): The Stuntmen’s main storyline centers on Tai-Chi and May-Chu, professional stunt performers for the movie industry. May plays Chun Chun's stunt double, while Duncan plays a director.

This show is the first Hong Kong drama that I've ever watched, not because of any particular reason other than the fact that HKDramas rarely pop up on my drama feeds so I've never checked one out before. After watching about 9 episodes of this show I'm pretty down for this one cause not only is the concept something really unique but I'm loving watching all those stunts being done! I love the OTT team and seeing how stunts are done behind the scenes! I'm so down with May-Chu and Tai-Chi and Duncan as characters though I'm hardcore feeling the second lead syndrome cause I want May-Chu with Duncan but I'm fairly certain that she'll end up with Tai-Chi based on what I know about dramas. HKDramas are similar to TWDramas in that they always try to keep you guessing about who the male lead is. I'm not opposed to Tai-Chi and May-Chu cause I did love them together at the start but as the show went on and we learned more about Duncan, I fell in love with his character. It also doesn't help that I think he's so much more attractive than Tai-Chi or the fact that Tai-Chi is so much older than May-Chu and acts like her father half the time though I think that's more of a front cause he's always the first to step up and be jealous. The only thing I'm not into with this show is Chun Chun and the whole acting world cause I don't really care. I could see the show putting Duncan and Chun Chun together which again I'm not the most thrilled with but at least he'd end up happy if (but most likely when) May-Chu doesn't pick him.

What Dramas Am I Watching This Week?

Here's what I'm watching this week! Of course the list is split by country and episodes I've seen so far are written below! There will be spoilers from now on so if you aren't caught to the episode number I list, you might want to go watch that episode and then come back! KDRAMA

DROPPED Man To Man (5/16): Kim Sul Woo is a mysterious National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent whose identity is known only by a few superiors at the top of the agency. As a highly skilled and suave agent, he can accomplish any and every mission he is assigned. When a large conglomerate, Songsan Group, is identified as a threat to the country, Sul Woo needs to go undercover again. One day, he is ordered to infiltrate a private party held by Chairman Victor, a Russian oil tycoon, and extract the legendary wood carvings hidden in the compound. However, his best cover is to get himself attached to world star Yeo Woon Guang as his elite bodyguard, and so begins a whole new unexpected mission for Sul Woo. Woon Guang was a nameless stuntman who became a top star through unexpected good fortune after starring in a Hollywood hero series called, "Dark Death." He is in his forties and now specializes in acting as a villain. The often childlike Woon Guang is constantly involved in some scandal, and despite his occasional innocence, the world star is conceited and brash. He bullies Sul Woo, who panders to his every whim. Meanwhile, Sul Woo is preparing for his secret mission. Unfortunately, he also has to deal with Cha Do Ha, Woon Guang's manager, who used to be the head of his fan club, and is enamored with the celebrity. She is wary of Sul Woo, and anxious that Woon Guang may be interested in him, so she constantly gets in Sul Woo's way. While the secret mission must be completed, the seemingly perfect bodyguard and the world star's fan manager continue to collide, and their relationship may be something Sul Woo could not have expected.

I'm actually really sad that I'm going to drop this one cause I was super into the premise of this show and I love spy/swindler/con man stories so I was excited to check this one out. A lot about this show was a lot of fun like the spy stuff and how badass K was but what pulled me out of this show was the female lead and just how utterly cringey she was. Not only was she so extreme and judgy and over-the-top but I felt like the way the actress was playing her made me uncomfortable too. There was nothing that she did that I felt like K would have fallen for or been interested in from the start like he was and I could see that they were building a romance but I just wasn't feeling it. I debated pushing through and just fast forwarding through their cringey romantic scenes because I adored the comedic bromance between K and Woon Guang and I wanted to see more spy shenanigans but as the episodes went on and the focus shifted to their romance more and more and I became less and less interested and struggled to convince myself to pick the show back up once I had finished an episode. I do not feel like I'll be trying to check this one out again unfortunately so if you check out the first episode and don't find Do Ha annoying as hell then this show might be for you but here's where I say goodbye.
My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (6/16): Adapted from a popular webtoon, this drama tells of Kang Mi Rae, a girl once bullied for her looks.

I really do adore this show and I feel like I say that every week but it's true and I'll keep saying it until I don't feel this way anymore!! I'm enjoying so much about this show as it goes on and I'm still loving the romance cause it's precious just how much Kyung Suk is head over heels for Mi Rae. His face is practically in awe every time they're around and I love how his whole cold emotionless thing means nothing around her. I'm also enjoying how Mi Rae is seeming him in a different light now that they cleared up their old misconceptions and I love that she's so awkward around him cause she's into him too. I always think it's really sweet when the main couple start falling for each other relatively close to each other cause usually it's like one or the other is more interested at first. I'm also loving the TA and just how sweet of a guy he is. I really want him to get with Mi Rae's roommate cause it looks like she's interested and he's too good of a guy to pine endlessly over someone who already likes another guy. I also really want to see Eun, Mi Rae, and Jung Boon's friendship blossom more cause they're so much better people than Soo Ah is and I'm glad that Mi Rae is starting to see that already cause nothing drives me more mad than when a female lead is a moron. No one is that naive to constantly say and do things that seem mean but aren't meant to. Speaking of, how is it that pretty much all the guys in this school except for Kyung Sik and the TA and maybe that one other new guy we were introduced to are such dicks? Like not only were they basically calling a girl fat but they were so damn condescending the whole time and I WAS LIVING for when the girls finally lost it on them and called them out on their bullshit. The only thing I'm not a fan of is how involved Mi Rae is in Kyung Sik's mom's life. Like I understand that she feels indebted to her but Kyung Sik is clearly not okay with his mom so if she wants to hang out with her, Mi Rae should either tell Kyung Sik the truth or refuse to tell his mom about him. It feels too sketchy the way things are going down now and one of my biggest pet peeves is when characters meddle in another person's family life cause they're outsiders and not only is it none of their business but they also don't know the full story!
Thirty But Seventeen/Still Seventeen (16/32): Woo Seo Ri, a violin prodigy at 17 who was about to study in Germany, got into a bus accident and fell into a coma waking up 13 years later.

I am living for warm and open Woo Jin who's pretty much in love with Seo Ri even if he doesn't know it yet cause it's completely adorable how she's wormed her way into his heart and it never ceases to amuse me when cold characters turn to putty around the people they love. Woo Jin is a special kind of cold character cause he is soft as a marshmallow inside and very kind though he tries to hide it and I'm dying every time he does something in the office that makes his coworkers look at him like he's insane. He was especially adorable when he was drunk and I love that Seo Ri was so annoyed with him afterwards that he basically did whatever she wanted to make it up to her causing the coworkers to be confused again though the boss seems to know that he might be feeling all the feels around her. I'm not thrilled with Chan's story cause he's precious but it feels weird that he's the second male lead and a weird one at that cause he loves Woo Jin so much that the second he realizes that he likes Seo Ri, Chan will back off immediately. I was glad that Seo Ri finally told Woo Jin the truth and that she actually didn't move out cause I'm loving the cohabitation hijinks and I love how much Woo Jin loves having her around. I'm curious as to who that yellow heeled person is and how she knows Jennifer and actually who Jennifer is at all would be interesting. I also don't think Chan's mom will be annoyed with Seo Ri if I'm being honest cause I'm sure she'll see how much Woo Jin has changed immediately like his friend and like her too.
Time (14/32): This is the story of two polar opposite people that come together in tragedy.

We only got two episodes this week which is sad cause I love this show so much and I always am left at the end of the week wanting more!! This week we continue to see how awful of a human being Lawyer Shin is and I really really really want a real explanation on his motivations cause THEY MAKE NO SENSE. Okay let's say he really hated cleaning up after Soo Ho's messes which made him hate Soo Ho and that he thought Chae Ah was nice and he wanted to keep Ji Hyun out of the rich people mess, none of that explains why he is consistently going down this horrible path when he sees that clearly Soo Ho is the best of the rich bunch. Like he's literally attempting to murder people left and right and keeps telling Soo Ho that he's the murderer even though he knows well and good that Soo Ho had nothing to do with Ji Hyun's sister's death! Chae Ah is just as bad cause she pretty much could not give a single shit about who died in the hotel. I was really hoping that Soo Ho would admit the truth to Ji Hyun this week cause for the love of everything I want her to find out the truth from his mouth but I have a feeling she's going to hear it from someone else and then she'll be all upset only to finally forgive him when she sees his interview. I just want them to continue being a team!! I loved that she found out that his mother committed suicide and that he attempted to as well and that she tried to comfort him in his own way and that he sees she's doing something but trusts her to come to him with the truth eventually and doesn't push her. They make such a great couple and it's going to be sad when he dies.
Your House Helper (28/32): The daily life of an average working woman involves: a packed subway during the rush hours, a miserable old boss, juniors clawing their way up, mounting credit card debt, and a rusty and tired body...

This week was fun cause Da Young and Ji Woon have finally got together and idk but as much as I wanted this to happen, I feel like these two have little chemistry. Tbh I think it has to do with more with the writing since this show isn't a rom com so it focuses very little on cute moments between our leads. Despite this I am glad this will they won't they thing is over now. I do wish Ji Woon was a little more expressive cause even when he was confessing his feelings, his face was pretty dead. My favorite scene this week is definitely the one where the girls see how empty his apartment is and run out and basically decorate it. It was precious and he looked so touched! At this point I'm over the whole ex thing though. It's gone on for so long and I don't want it to ruin his new relationship but with the new plot twist of Ga Ram being Ji Woon's ex's son, I'm sure she'll be back. I'm still loving the Ga Ram and So Mi relationship and I do actually kind of hope they end up together cause he's adorable and she needs a soft guy as a boyfriend. Sang Ah and Jin Kook are still my least favorite cause I cannot with Sang Ah anymore. Like she claims that she likes Jin Kook now too but he seems way way more into the relationship than she does and what kind of asshole sees all the work a date put into their evening and goes whatever works. Like pretend to care! And then when he proposes to her (which btw seems a little early!) she freaks out cause she's not dressed pretty enough like girl that's not the point!

CDRAMA

FINISHED Legend of Fu Yao (66/66): Meng Fu Yao, a woman born from a divine lotus petal. She journeys through the five continents towards the heavens in search of a secret order and to reveal a conspiracy originating from the heavens. In the process, she falls in love with the crown prince Zhangsun Wuji.

Like I was a little afraid of the ending felt a bit rushed and as though the writer decided that the whole evil personality thing was too much work and was just like meh whatever. For something that the most powerful sect in the world was worried about, Fu Yao's love for Wu Ji was able to overcome it and by stabbing herself she was able to stop the possession which though I loved the idea of, it was a bit silly in practice cause both she and Wu Ji ended up perfectly fine even after all the stabbings they had to go through. I still think this show would have been even better if they jus straight up cut this storyline out and stuck to the political stuff. That or they should have trimmed stories like that weird siege of Yan City in the middle and spent more time with Fu Yao possessed. Despite all that, I was happy with this show and I think that's mostly do to the incredible chemistry between Fu Yao and Wu Ji. Ethan Juan was a treasure and a half in this and I'm found another favorite actor in my eyes. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for his future projects. I really did enjoy all the spywork and theatrics our crew put on and the romances were all great and the Devine Physician was a treat. It is a little sad that Seven died and we never got a reaction from anyone for his death. Overall I'd give this show a 9.5 / 10!
Meteor Garden (36/48): An ordinary girl is admitted to the most prestigious school in the country where she encounters F4, an exclusive group comprised of the four wealthiest and handsomest boys in the school - Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men and Mei Zuo.

My struggle with this show is how sick and tired I am getting of Si and Shan Cai constantly being broken up. It's always been one of my biggest pet peeves with the whole Boys Over Flowers series cause like 70% of the whole show is about Shan Cai refusing to accept her feelings and then like the other 25% is about them being broken up due to one misunderstanding or another so only like 5% is with them happily together. I need my relationships with both happiness and angst cause without the happiness why bother with the angst and without the angst the happiness doesn't feel real enough (as I've learned from Why Secretary Kim.) The previous breakups honestly did feel a little silly but this last time really hit me in the feels and was driving me mad cause for once it wasn't Si's fault and I actually cried when he finally broke down in episode 30. He had been holding it in for so long that he needed to let it out. I really don't understand Shan Cai cause she won't spit out what she's thinking! Like we always get her real feelings in an internal monologue but how is Si supposed to know and work to fix a problem if she won't say it and every time he asks she just dances around the subject or straight out lies to him and I'm so over it. I do hope that this time they'll be together for good! Also their most recent kiss in episode 33 was so hot and so unexpected!! I think it's hilarious that she blurted out her love for him in front of everyone but all their friends are so involved in their love lives that I guess it's okay but one of my favorite scenes this week was when Zhuang walked in on them making out on the bed and I died. I was also thrilled with all the screen time Ximen and Xiaoyou got this week cause I hardcore ship them on the side and though Ximen was acting like an asshole to her, I'm pretty sure he's into her too but he's scared of those feelings so he's trying to push her away. I wish the amount of time we had to sit through that annoying Caina stuff had been delegated to these two cause I care so much more about them! Props to Xiaoyou for being confident enough to confess her feelings to him but I felt really horrible for her when she was like I'll sleep with you if that makes you happy cause it broke my heart! I can't wait to see more!
FINISHED Sweet Combat (37/37): As the eldest daughter of the Fang Conglomerate, Fang Yu was raised to become the sole successor of the company, yet she goes against her family's objections to pursue boxing and won the championship title at the young age of 18. On the other hand, Ming Tian comes from a poor family. He once stopped schooling for three years in order to work and he decided to apply for a sports scholarship despite not having any background whatsoever. Fang Yu was one of the first to see his talents and their relationship grows over time.

This show just ended this week and I'm definitely going to miss it! It's been an amazing ride from the start and my only complaint would be that the show ended on such an angsty note. We spent episodes upon episodes with Ming Tian and Fang Yu broken up and that was really sad cause my favorite thing about this show was the fun tone! I loved that Fang Yu's grandfather was actually so evil cause he didn't give one shit about whether or not he was destroying the life of his only granddaughter so I guess props to him for being one of the most evil and probably one of the smartest evil rich guys. Rather than aiming for Ming Tian and knowing that ruining his job will only bring the two closer, he used the fact that Ming Tian's father killed Uncle Ji and even made up lies about it. I did love that Ming Tian got hurt and we got to see Fang Yu freak out and though unfortunately even that wasn't enough to get Fang Yu to forget the past, I was glad that we ended with the truth coming out cause they really were the most adorable couple! I do wish the grandfather had some sort of consequences to his actions and that the ending hadn't felt so rushed to solve the problem. Most of the drama with Aunt Ji happened off screen and that was a bit annoying. Sidebar, did you hear that the two actors are together in real life as well? How precious! On the other hand I was completely won over by Guan Yan and Ya Nan and how completely adorable they were as well. I didn't really care about Xiao Mi and Sun Hao getting together but it was sweet in the end. I really enjoyed watching this show and I'd definitely give it a 9.5 / 10!!

What Dramas Am I Watching This Week

Here's what I'm watching this week! Of course the list is split by country and episodes I've seen so far are written below! There will be spoilers from now on so if you aren't caught to the episode number I list, you might want to go watch that episode and then come back! If you're interested in previous lists, click here and if you want to see a list of my favorite asian OTPs and ships, click here!

KDRAMA

FINISHED Are You Human Too? (36/36): The drama tells of an android called Nam Shin III who must pretend to be the son of a rich family when the real Nam Shin falls into a coma. Nam Shin's mother, Oh Ro Ra is a genius on brain technology and artificial intelligence (AI) so when her son, the real Nam Shin, is taken away from her at a young age, in her grief she creates an android that looks exactly like her son and has it grow up in the place of Nam Shin. But when Nam Shin, who is a third generation heir to PK group, gets in an accident and is comatose, the android Nam Shin III must learn how to take his place.

So this show is finally over and seriously it's about time. I hardcore fast fowarded through the last 6 episodes and I'm sorry cause honestly if I'm being objective, this show wasn't all that terrible but personally from the very start I've said I'm not comfortable with a human falling in love with a robot so I went into this feeling sketch from the start. Though I was able to get past that icky feeling after a while, it came back to me once Shin woke up and everyone found out Nam Shin III was a robot and the idea of So Bong being in love with the robot freaked me out all over again. It also didn't really help that the show decided instead of taking an interesting route with Shin to make him basically a villain until the final episode where he was redeemed in a bit of a silly way. I did like that Young Joon took over the company and that Shin got to live his life with all the freedom he wanted and I guess it was sweet that Shin used his money to rebuild Nam Shin III for So Bong so they can go and live their lives together. Overall I think I liked what this show could have been more than what it was if I'm being honest. I know we were promised a look at what makes a person human but instead we just got a full 36 episodes of everyone being an asshole and Nam Shin III being the only good part. I'd give this show a 7 / 10 and that might be generous.
My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (4/16): Adapted from a popular webtoon, this drama tells of Kang Mi Rae, a girl once bullied for her looks. As a result, she became insecure, cautious around people and withdrawn. However, Mi Rae decides she wants a fresh start away from bullying and gets plastic surgery to transform her face. When she begins university, she meets Do Kyung Suk from their middle school days, who sees people for what they are on the inside and not the outside; he then becomes attracted to Kang Mi Rae.As Mi Rae begins to get teased once more and labeled "Gangnam Beauty", the cold, aloof but kind inside Kyung Suk becomes the one person that stands up for her and in the process, Mi Rae begins to recover her lost confidence and discovers that true beauty is not on the outside.

So I'm officially obsessed with this show and mostly just cause I adore Kyung Suk turning into a puppy whenever Mi Rae is around. I've always said that one of my favorite types of male characters are the ones who basically turn into putty whenever the female leads are around especially when the male leads are supposed to be all cold. I mean who doesn't want a man who literally looks at you with heart eyes? I had a huge grin on my face when Mi Rae asked him out for drinks and his face was so stunned and so hopeful and it's going to be a little sad when he finds out that she just asked him out to talk about him mom! I loved that the two have gotten to the friend stage of their relationship already and she's no longer seeing him as this terrible being from her past. I'm also loving all the side characters more this especially the second lead who's seriously so hot and if Kyung Suk wasn't so precious I might be having second lead syndrome! I also hope that the girls who Mi Rae became friends with won't turn on her out of jealously (cause all the guys talk about her being so hot) since I want Mi Rae to have more girl friends! I'm not a huge fan of Kyung Suk's mom that we met this week cause she's already basically using Mi Rae to get closer to her son like bitch talk to him yourself and don't drag a rando girl you just met into your family problems! Also Soo Ah is definitely such a fake bitch and literally one of the worst kind of people cause it's one thing to be a bitch but when you pretend to be nice, it drives me crazy and the fact that Mi Rae can't see through her is annoying as well. I wonder if we'll get some backstory on Soo Ah cause hardcore there has to be a reason why she's so adamant on being the center of attention all the time and why she has the whole school wrapped around her finger yet still wants to tear Mi Rae down. I bet you anything that she has the same backstory as Mi Rae except maybe she grew to be pretty and that's why she's the way she is.
Thirty But Seventeen/Still Seventeen (12/32): Woo Seo Ri, a violin prodigy at 17 who was about to study in Germany, got into a bus accident and fell into a coma waking up 13 years later.

Is anyone else obsessed with this show? No? Just me? Alright, that's fine. I'll just live in my bubble over here and adore this show. I'm loving how the relationship between our main leads is progressing and though I had wished that Woo Jin would have picked up who she was earlier, after his reaction to the idea that she's similar, I want to go back!!! I was so enjoying how comfortable he got around her and how she's slowly falling for him and I do hope that once he gets past the hurdle of trauma, we'll be able to return to that. I am hoping that by wiping away her tears at the end of this week that it means that he's accepted her presence and will not be running anymore. He's such a little cinnamon roll that thinks he's all tough and shit but worries so much for Seo Ri and is bossed around by some high school kids and I adore that. When he smiles, the world seems to light up. I love that Seo Ri is joining Woo Jin's company cause I'm interested to see where that will go and how much she'll enjoy it cause that would be a great place to get a real job since the boss is a friend of Woo Jin's so I have a feeling that she wouldn't mind that Seo Ri wasn't a college graduate or anything. It is really sad that she missed out on the wonderful life she would have had as a violinist so it would be sweet if she was able to reach that dream again but I have a feeling that it might be too late for that. I also am not looking forward to when the doctor friend finds her and she leaves with him cause I am living for the house antics and I don't really want them to stop!
Time (10/32): This is the story of two polar opposite people that come together in tragedy.

I am really glad with what we got this week cause I loved that Soo Ho told his truth without prompting from anyone else which makes it the most impactful. Sometimes I wish that these shows wouldn't go the most predictable route and take a chance for once and that's what we're getting here which I give this show props for. Rather than waiting until these two fall in love and then someone (probs her asshole ex) tells her that Soo Ho killed her sister and she'll confront him and cause he feels guilty he'll say it's true and then she'll be mega pissed at him and second-guess all of their previous interactions, Soo Ho stepped up first. In a way I do understand why the truth is usually held off until after the love is formed cause if it happens before, the love interest might not want anything to do with the liar but at the same time the betrayal would be less intense if the truth came out sooner. I like that the truth is coming out not because of anyone but Soo Ho himself cause despite how much he tries to hide it, he is a good person and he really had no part in what happened to Ji Hyun's sister so it breaks my heart that everyone keeps telling him he killed the girl. The final interview was so emotional and I was tearing up though my favorite moment would still have to be on the roof when Soo Ho was trying to talk Ji Hyun off the ledge. I still do think the CCTV footage is out there somewhere cause I have the feels that it didn't get destroyed in the car accident cause that would be too easy for the bad guys especially since the escort guy is still alive. As more and more time passes, Ji Hyun's lawyer ex becomes more and more of a complete asshole. I still don't understand why he despises Soo Ho so much cause it isn't as though Soo Ho is the worst of the rich bunch and the ex has no problem murdering people to solve problems but he run around acting as though he's exhausted by all these rich people. Soo Ho is practically as much of a victim as Ji Hyun and her family. It makes me so angry whenever Soo Ho's brother talks about wanting to ruin Soo Ho cause we know that he only has 6 months to live and I want him to live so badly not just cause I adore him but cause I really don't want the assholes to live and get what they want!
Witch's Love (6/12): In plain sight in bustling Seoul, three generations of witches have been living below the radar of everyone around them.

This is definitely a strange show but I think I like it anyway though that might just be because somehow the main couple has grabbed me. It's crazy cause Sung Tae is a bit insane and possibly in love with our girl already but super fighting it cause he doesn't want to be interested in her. I love that she can read him so easily and didn't take any of nonsense after he caught her with Jae Wook and told him that he was just beating around the bush when he tried to lecture her cause he was jealous and that was that. Jae Wook is adorable too in his own right and I love that he's so into witches and that he finds everything Cho Hong does adorable. We also got a little more info about the magical witch world and I know I complained at first cause the show didn't set up rules for this world but it looks like we'll be getting them slowly over time. It seems that the reason witches aren't supposed to love is cause if/when their hearts are broken from a betrayal then they lose their magic and within a month they go insane but if they find their fated man, they will get their magic back. I'm pretty sure after this week that Jae Wook is actually Cho Hong's fated man but because she thinks Sung Tae is the one, they'll end up falling in love and she'll give up her powers for him. I think she can stop the aging process with a kiss but to get her powers back she'll have to do something with Jae Wook's heart and since I doubt that Sung Tae will betray her (he's the male lead right?), it's okay for them to fall for each other. Speaking of kisses, Cho Hong and Sung Tae had an amazing one and at first I wasn't sure if they had enough chemistry but from the moment he picked her up bridal style and she blew in his ear to the moment they kissed, I was feeling it!!!
Your House Helper (24/32): The daily life of an average working woman involves: a packed subway during the rush hours, a miserable old boss, juniors clawing their way up, mounting credit card debt, and a rusty and tired body...

I was cheering so hard for Da Yeong this week cause every week it seems like she gets stronger and stronger and I was living for her dragging that asshole. It was a surprise that the guy wasn't the worst and after some posturing not only apologized to her but to her company allowing Ms An to come back. I wasn't exactly thrilled that she had to explain her birth control pills to the asshole cause the point wasn't that she was sleeping around but the fact that he tried to get her drunk as shit and refused to stop when she said so. I don't know what part of no he didn't understand but I'm glad the problem was resolved especially since Ms An can come back to work and doesn't have to hide her son anymore. I also loved Ji Woon punching him cause he kept talking shit about Da Yeong. I wonder how much longer we'll have to wait until he realizes he likes her too though every week we seem to be getting closer and closer. I also really enjoyed that So Mi is going to try to get past her fear of men with Ga Nam which seems to me the perfect way to fall for him (cause I ship it.) We also learned a little more about what happened with her brother who turned out to be her stepbrother which makes it slightly less creepy. So Mi's so quiet that it's hard to tell how she felt about the whole thing cause at first she seemed to be super against the whole thing but after that scene where she got angry that her stepbrother was talking about sleeping with her for fun, I wondered if she was into him too and was upset that he didn't actually like her. Either way, he's an ass and I think based on where this show is going that So Mi will eventually yell at him about what he did. The stuff with Hye Joon was really sad cause she's so in love with her gay friend and it's hard cause you can't control your feelings though now that they talked about her feelings for him, she can move on cause unless he's bi, there's no chance of a happy ending there.

CDRAMA

Legend of Fu Yao (64/66): Meng Fu Yao, a woman born from a divine lotus petal. She journeys through the five continents towards the heavens in search of a secret order and to reveal a conspiracy originating from the heavens. In the process, she falls in love with the crown prince Zhangsun Wuji.

Fu Yao has officially been revealed to be the true heir of Xuanji like we all expected and kind of knew. It was heartbreaking when she finally reunited with her father though it's totally lame that he just skipped out like oh I spent 20 years of my life looking for you but now that I know you're alive I don't need to stay by your side. I understand that he feels guilty or whatever but you would think he would want to catch up or I don't know get to know his daughter! Anyway I loved the coronation and how the Phoenix actually came out of the scepter to prove Fu Yao's birth but it leads me to wonder how Feng Xuan faked it. Maybe she took some of her sister's blood and smeared it on the scepter? We also lifted two more tiers of the spell and Fu Yao finally after so many episodes knows the truth about herself and who she is and now I'm assuming will want Wu Ji to kill her to stop the world from getting destroyed. We also got a fun twist in discovering just how damn evil the emperor is! He waited 20 years to get his revenge and seriously wants to murder everyone from his brother to his wife to his heir apparent to Fu Yao just because his daddy didn't love him? People are the worst honestly. It's interesting though that despite everything he did love Wu Ji in his own way and claims that everything he did was in the best interest of Wu Ji.
DROPPED Legend of Yun Xi (35/48): The story follows a lady doctor (Han Yun Xi) who marries into the royal family and gets caught in the political machinations in the palace whilst she falls into a romance with her husband. The story takes place during a chaotic time when the land has split into three kingdoms - Tian Ning, Western Zhou and Northern Li. The Emperor of Tian Ning is cunning and distrustful, and fears his own subordinate Long Feiye. To dampen his spirits, the King arranges for Long Feiye to be married to an "ugly" woman named Han Yun Xi. Han Yun Xi is a kind and talented woman who comes from a medical family and is adept with poisons. She is also forced into obeying the decree of the king and becomes a royal consort in name only. However, circumstances allow her to show off her skills time and again, winning the admiration of Long Feiye. At the same time, she also forms a friendship with Gu Qishao (Master of Yao Gui Valley).

So I really don't want to drop this show cause I was pretty into it for as long as I have been watching but it's reached the weird stage where the subs are no longer making any sense and though I tried to watch 4 episodes this week by muddling through the nonsense, I feel as though I'm missing a lot of plot cause I don't particularly understand what is happening. I guess technically I'm actually hitting pause on this show rather than dropping it per say cause if the subs get fixed at all in the future, I'll jump back in!
DROPPED Love Is In The Air (10/24): Two years have passed since white collar worker Jiang Yi Yi and her first love Chu Tian Qi broke up. Even though Yi Yi pretends to not be affected anymore, she still can’t forget him. Then she meets the trainee guardian Fang Mu Ye from the Guardian Tribe, with whom she ends up living together. Mu Ye’s supernatural powers add a lot of fun to Yi Yi’s life, making her gradually forget Tian Qi and focus on her dream of becoming an inventor again. The two become a bickering couple, however, a crazy scientist, who’s looking for a study object, appears.

When I started this show I was into it cause I thought the premise and the characters and the romance were fun but now I'm a little bit over this show and when I went to start the 11th episode, I just couldn't find myself caring and so instead of forcing myself to keep watching, I'm going to stop. Not only was this one of those shows that doesn't get subbed for weeks on end, I'm just not a fan of how the story is going. The guardian angel aspect of the show has been an afterthought for so long which I could have been cool with if not for the show basically hitting pause on the romance. I loved watching Tian Qi and Mu Ye get closer but after her ex came back, she's turned into this moron who runs back to the ex despite knowing all the pain he put her through. There's barely any cute moments between the couple and I just am not about it. Sorry everyone!
Meteor Garden (29/48): An ordinary girl is admitted to the most prestigious school in the country where she encounters F4, an exclusive group comprised of the four wealthiest and handsomest boys in the school - Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men and Mei Zuo.

The episodes this week started out really sweet and then quickly devolved into really sad cause seriously these two cannot be happy for more than a few minutes every few episodes and it's driving me crazy cause angst is fun and all sometimes but in order for me to enjoy the angst, we need some happy moments! The highlight of this week was when Shan Cai kissed Si for the first time on her own. I think ties on guys are super sexy just cause of the idea that you can pull them to you when you want to kiss and I love when girls do that on shows so I was living. I loved that Si took her to a super girly shop that she wanted to visit just cause she was a little sad but I do wish that instead of Si saying over and over that he can protect her that he would actually take some action! It's driving me crazy that he is basically just letting his mom trample over her cause of course Shan Cai would cut and run in that case! It was sad seeing how he basically shut down when she left him but in my evil heart I was kinda all for him being a complete asshole for episodes cause it felt true to character. I do wish that we could have seen Shan Cai a bit more sad but it was in character for her to focus all her attention on something else when she's sad while Si shuts down. There was so much Caina and Mei Zuo stuff in the meantime and though I loved how exasperated Lei and Xi Men were about Mei Zuo's love, I didn't actually care that much about the triangle. The only thing that I cared about was how sad Mei Zuo was when he realized that no matter what he does Caina was into Terence and that he will need to step aside cause that's a real man guys.
Sweet Combat (25/38): As the eldest daughter of the Fang Conglomerate, Fang Yu was raised to become the sole successor of the company, yet she goes against her family's objections to pursue boxing and won the championship title at the young age of 18. On the other hand, Ming Tian comes from a poor family. He once stopped schooling for three years in order to work and he decided to apply for a sports scholarship despite not having any background whatsoever. Fang Yu was one of the first to see his talents and their relationship grows over time.

I say it every week but man do I love this show!! I enjoy every single moment of every single episode and I'm calling it right now that this will be one of my fav shows of the year! Ugh the best moment this week was when Fang Yu and Ming Tian finally stopped beating around the bushes and it's all thanks to Sun Hao who blurted out to Ming Tian that Fang Yu likes him. It gave him enough confidence to go to her and I was thrilled that they not only told each that they liked each other but they also cleared up some previous misunderstandings like Ming Tian being jealous of Fang Yu making noodles with Sun Hao and Fang Yu being jealous that he was kissed by Xiao Mi. I loved the progression from a hug to a cheek kiss to an actual kiss! These two have so much chemistry that I'm living!!! I also loved that he straight out told Xiao Mi that he's not interested and though that hasn't seemed to stop her, at least he was straight with her and she can't say that she didn't know. There were a lot of comedic moments this week too which I enjoyed and I love Fang Zhao to pieces cause he's the sweetest little brother! I'm not in love with the grandpa hating Ming Tian thing cause it's exhausting to watch and I'm so looking forward to the part where he forces Ming Tian to be fired from all his jobs cause what else do rich people have to do with their lives but make poor people feel worse about themselves? I'm also in love with Guan Yan and wasn't his 100 reasons why I like you texts the cutest things ever?? Ugh that's how you woo a girl! Of course it seems like the whole thing that Ya Nan's dad set up with saying that he'll teach Guan Yan if he hooks up with his daughter came back to bite Ya Nan in the butt. I was honestly surprised that Ya Nan wasn't more angry at her dad and honestly I wanted a little more angst between these two which I hope we'll see more of in the future.

JDRAMA

FINISHED Switched (6/6): The series centers on Ayumi Kohinata, a first-year high school student who has a cute and shy personality. She's excited that she just started dating her first boyfriend, but on the day of their first date, she gets a mysterious call from her classmate Zenko Umine. Zenko says she's going to die, and Ayumi witnesses Zenko jumping from a building. The next thing she knows, Ayumi wakes up in a hospital, but in Zenko's body.

This was a really interesting show for me to check out cause I was really into the premise of the show and I really enjoyed watching it cause of how different it was as we all know jdramas are! I do kind of wish that this show was longer cause it felt like things progressed a bit fast but at the same time I liked that Kaga found out about the switch almost immediately cause out of body hijinks aren't exactly my favorite! I loved watching Kaga and Ayumi work together to figure out what was going and how to fix it. The ending was great too cause it taught Zenko that though looks are important, what's more important is what's on the inside and it was sweet that the foursome became really good friends at the end. The only thing I wasn't down with was that Ayumi chose Shiro over Kaga cause like though he was redeemed for me in the end and he was just playing Zenko to help Ayumi, it felt like Kaga was there more for Ayumi and honestly I still have a feeling that part of Shiro was always jealous of Kaga and that's why he started being into Ayumi. She seemed to care for Kaga more throughout the show and it was a little sad that she didn't pick him especially when watching Kaga break down when he realized that he needed to step aside to let Ayumi be happy. Ugh why. Other than that, I did really enjoy this show and I'd give it a 8.5 / 10!
