What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Horimiya Season 1 Episode 6

The best thing about this show is the way it so obviously subverts all rom com expectations! Like this week the whole school found out that Hori and Miyamura were dating and were horrified about why Hori would date a loser like Miyamura so Miyamura cut his hair and suddenly everyone was in love with him. Part of me in heartbroken cause I thought he looked the best with his hair up but the rest of me adores how little Hori cared about what people thought and was only upset cause girls started to hit on Miyamura now. This takes me to the subversion that I mentioned up top! A new girl was introduced and just when you thought that she would be there to flirt with Miyamura and tell Hori to get lost, it turns out that she actually had a girl crush on Hori but I think she'll end up seeing Miyamura as her older brother and if that's not the cutest I don't know what is! I also love how natural Miyamura and Hori act around each other and I squealed when he kissed her and stole the candy out of her mouth like damn Miyamura you've got moves!

Riverdale Season 5 Episode 5

This episode was fairly interesting as we finally got the answers I was looking for over what would cause our heroes to remain in Riverdale despite having other obligations. Hiram ends up closing down Riverdale High despite all our heroes deciding to become teachers there to protect the students or at least until Riverdale High can hire permanent teachers. This is a little unfortunate cause I actually liked the idea of Cheryl buying the school and making it a private one but I'm not sure where the show will take it from here. I also don't love that Hiram turned down Veronica when she came to him for help cause seriously of all the horrible things they've done to each other, they still love one another and I can't believe that he would be like yo my daughter is in an abusive marriage oh well. Jughead ended up finding inspiration for his new book in Riverdale as well as I expected him to but rather than writing some sort of murder mystery, apparently he's going to be writing a book based on Pop Tate which will give him the perfect excuse to flirt with Pop Tate's granddaughter. Meanwhile Betty and Archie are hooking up now and I'm really confused about this cause isn't Betty dating her FBI mentor? Why are these two so cool with cheating constantly? I guess I should shout out the fact that their scene was definitely hotter than any sex scene that Archie and Veronica have had and maybe even Betty and Jughead though those two were less about the physical and more of the mental/emotional romance. We do find out that they haven't spoken to each other since Jughead's book release 2 years ago and I'm really hoping the plan for this show is to bring them back together slowly whether that's this season or not!

The promo for next week doesn't really seem to show us anything that we didn't already know. Betty and Archie are struggling to find somewhere to hook up (blech) and Jughead learns about something called the Mothman which is maybe the villain of the season?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episodes 19

What's funny about this week is how Itadori and Toudou have basically become best friends and brothers in the short time we've spent away from them and I can't help but imagine Toudou mostly just strong-armed Itadori into it. Either way I'm content cause in that time away Toudou helped train Itadori enough that he can now visualize his curse energy better and can use something called Black Flash which apparently allows you to better control your energy. It led to a super badass fight in which Itadori and Toudou held their own against the special grade Cursed Spirit. This was also interesting cause poor Megumi and company really struggled to hold it back to the degree that Toge was super hurt from using his power so much. It seems like his power is super OP but the downside is that it drains him too quickly. I also didn't really his powers are dependent on how much stronger he is than the curse spirit which really feels unfair though I guess it keeps him from winning all the time and without any problems.

Wandavision Season 1 Episode 7

I'm cackling cause the end of this week's episode was honestly nothing like I expected it to be! I mean yeah everyone and their mother knew that Agnes had to be Agatha Harkness aka the villain behind this whole reality warping thing but the way the show revealed it in a sort of Scooby-Doo style was everything. We didn't really get an explanation as to why she did all this or what she hopes to gain but I'm sure that'll be a problem for next week. What we do know is that she was behind bringing Evan Peters into this show as Pietro and that she has a Darkhold which really is sad cause it reminds me of Agents of SHIELD and how if this world really is supposed to be connected then she must have grabbed it from hell cause that's where Robbie Reyes tossed it in season 4. I still really hope that the show gives us a good explanation about why she chose Evan Peters and not Aaron Taylor Johnson and that it's not chalked up to meta humor or stunt casting that would suck but I'm really excited to watch the last two episodes and focus on the hero/villain stuff again. Darcy did bring Vision up to speed on what happened out in the real world and Monica managed to get into Westview cause of her new powers which I think makes her Photon now!

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Horimiya Season 1 Episode 5

My goodness this show is prime rom com isn't it?? I think it has to do with the fact that this anime is only going to get one season so they're probs trying to fit volumes and volumes of manga into 12 episodes which is why things are moving so fast. Last week I mentioned that I was curious as to whether Miyamura told Hori that he loved her cause she was awake and whether she would act on it or pretend she was asleep and this week we got the answers. Miyamura knew that Hori was awake which is why he confessed and while Hori was a little awkward about it, in the end she decided that he was her boyfriend now which is an indirect confession. I also liked that it ended up being her dad that sort of was the catalyst for her acceptance but I'm still kinda curious what his role in the family is. Is he kinda a drifter who comes and goes or are her parents divorced cause we've never seen or heard of him before. It was also sweet of Miyamura to call Toru and tell him that they were dating and that Toru was mature about it by telling Miyamura to chill over his guilt cause even though he felt kinda shitty over it, at the end of the day, Toru was too good a person to linger. Maybe he should get to know Sakura more!

Riverdale Season 5 Episode 4

I don't even know where to start this review of this week's Riverdale episode cause I don't even know what I'm watching anymore! I mentioned last week that I thought this would end up being a soft reboot for Riverdale and that's exactly what we got. The show feels different and more mature and yet partially the same which I'm sort of down for that cause it's definitely more exciting than the same old same old. We spent chunks of the episode getting to know each of our main four characters and where they are in their lives now before bringing them back to the cesspool that is Riverdale. Archie became a Sergeant in the army but was sent back to Riverdale to revive the ROOTC program and he's really the only one without problems. Betty joined the FBI after Yale I'm assuming but she's still a trainee and is dating what seems to be her mentor or maybe boss. A little while ago she was hunting a serial killer and went off on her own without backup and ended up being captured and held for two weeks so she's struggling with a shit ton of PTSD. Jughead graduated and published a pretty popular book two years ago but he's been struggling to write another since. He's become a bit of a ladies man which is hilarious to me but he's also in debt somehow? Veronica meanwhile was a shark on Wall Street but then got married and now she's starting to see that she basically married another Hiram with how controlling he is. Cheryl's become a recluse while Toni is the head of the Serpents and guidance counselor at Riverdale High alongside Kevin who's the drama teacher. Fangs and Sweet Pea are driving trucks while Reggie is Hiram's right hand man while they try to strip Riverdale dry in order to force people to live in Hiram's SoDale project. So far our heroes have all congregated in Riverdale in order to celebrate Pop's retirement but Jughead's narration made me think that maybe a murder will keep them all in town. I wonder if Betty's runaway serial killer will the one we're hunting?

The promo for next week doesn't show much other than it looks like Archie and company will be taking his house back from the Ghoulies. I guess this means the others are on board with Archie's plan to save Riverdale? Idk other than Archie and Jughead who can write pretty much anywhere, it does feel like the girls have things to do and places to be so I wonder what will cause them to stay.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episodes 18

I really enjoyed this week's episode and it probs has a lot to do with the fact that our villains have infiltrated this competition so instead of watching two schools fight one another and angst over their similar struggles we get to watch them team up and take down demons! I still do miss Itadori which is totally funny to me cause I've never cared about a shounen protag so much before. Usually I'm so much more into the ensemble but I wonder if it's cause Itadori is smarter and less maniac or naive then most protags so I can connect with him more. The veil that was dropped was only meant to keep Gajou out but the Cursed Master who cast it didn't seem to know that which makes me wonder if the villains lied to him cause they know that Gajou is too strong or if they purposefully separated Gajou from the group in hopes that he can be defeated easier. It was hilarious though seeing the other Principal pull out an electric guitar but I guess that his Cursed power is going to be related to sound waves or something.

Wandavision Season 1 Episode 6

This week straight up left me with chills and like slow clap to this show for pulling it off. I also want to shout out Elizabeth Olsen for playing Wanda just shy of insanity perfectly cause it constantly feels like you've gotta be careful around her cause one wrong move and she will kill you no questions asked. I still feel like there's someone pulling the strings behind the scenes just for Pietro alone especially since it seems as though he's not completely brainwashed like the others. It was just strange that he was asking Wanda questions like how did you do this and his constant commentary about what his role in this week's sitcom was and his jokes about Vision being dead confused me. Is he fully aware of everything but enthralled to think that Wanda is his sister? We do know now that Wanda is the one controlling Westview and that she can move the barrier but the question still remains if she was the one to start it all. I'm also really confused about the twins and whether they can exist outside this barrier since the stuff that SWORD pulled out was okay but Vision started to die again so maybe her reality bending powers only work on inanimate objects? It's also important to note that Monica, Jimmy, and Darcy no longer trust Haywood and they discovered that he's definitely after Vision cause of the Vibranium but now that Darcy has been sucked in, I think that Vision will wake her up and they can exchange notes.

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Horimiya Season 1 Episode 4

We're all shooketh over Miyamura confessing his love for Hori this week and the biggest question is whether he thought she was asleep or not! Cause I mean it's important to know if he means love love or love like I adore you and you're my best friend but given this is a rom com, I'm sure it's the former so I'm more curious about why he confessed at that specific timing. Of course I wanna give props to him for not only realizing how he felt but also accepting it so early in the season given that Hori was a little horrified by the confession and was like if I pretend not to hear it we can remain as we are though I wonder if it was in return for Hori telling him she doesn't want him to leave her. I do have to say it was a bit ironic that immediately after he told her that he won't leave unless she asks him to he was like okay bye gotta go to school now. I guess he meant more metaphorically. I also liked a lot of the student council shenanigans we got this week with a possible new love interest for Toru which is nice cause he's a good guy and deserves to meet a nice girl who would like him and I liked seeing one of Miyamura's middle school friends.

Riverdale Season 5 Episode 3

This episode really felt like a series finale more than what should have been a season finale and I was really just left curious as to where the show will take us now. Graduation happened and everyone but Archie got their diplomas. Archie ended up enlisting in the army but unlike the Naval Academy, he's be going in as a foot soldier rather than an officer. Veronica left to stay with her mom in the Hamptons while Betty and Alice went on a road trip that would end in Yale. Cheryl and Toni broke up but Cheryl decided not to go to college and remained back home hoping to fix the Blossom name while her mom turned herself in. FP and Jellybean went back to Ohio and Jughead the dramatic idiot rather than staying with them or in the Cooper house decided to go back to squatting. This whole episode felt like a soft reset honestly with a return to what was the status quo when this show first started and the one thing I didn't love was the fact that Jughead was the only one who bothered to return one year later like they all promised which did break my heart a little. Though Betty and Jughead didn't break up on screen, I'm assuming they broke up soon after going to college cause otherwise why would he say that it would be six years until they saw each other again. I do have to say 6 years is a random time jump cause I was expecting either 4 or 5. I'm really curious to see if the characters really will feel different than they were cause though Jughead said they were, I will believe it when I see it.

Okay so the promo just like high key spoiled us as to where our core four ended up! Archie was obviously at war, Betty is a FBI agent, Jughead is a published writer, and Veronica is married which is honestly the funniest cause not only did she marry some random dude (as in not a named Archie Comics character) but he's like so average looking in a cast of some of the most attractive people I've seen!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episodes 17

This week's episode was actually really good as well and I'm starting to warm up to the ensemble characters this show is giving though I think my problem is still that we're too early in this show's run to be having a tournament arc. Everything I liked in the first half of the show had to do with catching spirits and battling them so I'm really very uninterested in the internal politics of this world. Our Jujutsu Tech kids are clearly leagues stronger than those from the sister school cause the only times they've won is when they've cheated like in the case of Kugisaki who had her battle in the bag and lost only cause she was shot at by another student outside which really shouldn't actually be considered cheating but based in the context of a one on one battle perhaps. I also liked the look at the twins and how Maki is much stronger than Mai but the family doesn't see it cause she doesn't have the ability to see curses and that Mai never wanted to be a sorcerer in the first place and was only forced into it cause Maki decided she wanted to be one and the family couldn't let Mai be left behind when she was the heir they chose.

Wandavision Season 1 Episode 5

This episode was absolutely insane and the perfect mix of the sitcom world with the real world which means it took what I loved from last week and added to it! This week we were in the 80s and though there were still sitcom shenanigans with Wanda and the twins who apparently can age themselves at will but the main story I was interested in was Vision starting to realize that things aren't right. After this week I'm of the mind that maybe Wanda isn't the bad guy after all and I'm doubling down on my original theory that Agnes is the one behind all this but that Wanda slowly realized what was happening and now this is all she wants. The reason for this is how adamant Wanda was that she didn't start all this and the fact that she had that conversation about Pietro in front of Agnes in which she talked about how you can't being someone back from the dead and then low and behold there's Evan freaking Peters having been recast as Marvel's Pietro. Part of me feels really sorry for the original actor who I actually really liked in Age Of Ultron but clearly no one else did and the rest of me wonders if this recasting will be permanent or if this is another scenario in which a random person is forced to act as a specific character. I also think it's important that Norm said that "she" did this and not "your wife" or "Wanda." I also want to mention that last week the popular theory was that Hayward was a bad guy and I was sitting here like that's a bit of a jump but after this week I'm definitely on board that train. He hid the fact that Wanda snuck into SWORD to take Vision's body from Monica and his whole shoot first ask questions later mentality was really such a villainous move. Does he want to kill Wanda before she can expose him? What if it was Agnes who disguised herself as Wanda to steal Vision's body??

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

FINISHED KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! Season 1 & 2

I've been meaning to watch this show for a while cause I'm a fairly big fan of isekai dramas and this one has always been recommended as a must watch. I finally got around to it this week and dudes I can totally and completely see why it was hyped so much. I loved that it was a slice-of-life show that was meant to be a fantasy. We are told that Kazuma has to go to this world and defeat the Demon King but in 2 seasons we barely see our heroes defeat one general in the Demon King's army and then make friends with 2 more. The focus of the show is actually on completing low level quests and reminded me a lot of the early arcs in Fairy Tail where the focus was on a guild and the challenges they had to compete. I adored all our main characters and how they didn't stick to the typical harem prototypes and that there was barely a harem at all since neither Kazuma or the girls liked each other romantically though I could see a possible Aqua loveline in the future. Everyone in this show was a terrible person but they weren't afraid to hide their flaws and that's what made them so fun to watch! The comedy, writing, acting, and animation were all top notch!

Horimiya Season 1 Episode 3

We saw a little more of Miyamura's backstory this week and I was actually really surprised that the show is telling me that he struggled his whole life to make friends cause I really would have thought that he was just a natural loner rather than awkward. He didn't seem to struggle to get to know Hori but it's possible that Hori's just too kind on her own and so she made him more comfortable especially if Sota was around. I'm also really interested in how Miyamura and Hori are in love but I can't tell if they know that they love each other and hiding it cause they think the other doesn't love them or if they're in the denial phase and think that they're just friends. The others have clearly clocked them though and I'm actually really glad that Hori's friend isn't into Miyamura too cause we don't need that many love shapes! It's also really sweet how Toru clearly sees Miyamura as a rival but at the same time can separate those feelings from the fact that he likes Miyamura as a friend too. This show really does feel so nostalgic even if I've never actually read the manga but something about the vibe reminds me of so many other rom com animes that I've adored.

Riverdale Season 5 Episode 2

So Charles was exposed as a serial killer in the strangest twist that meant nothing this week and I can't help but feel like the show dragged out his suspiciousness for too long. Like remember when we saw him bugging the house and visiting Chic and then suddenly he was the one behind every mystery? Well jump ahead like 2 years and no one cares anymore! In other news did I or did I not call it last week when I said it was definitely Jellybean who was filming these weird videos?? After all Jellybean's been around for a while but she never really played a bigger role than floating around in the background though part of me wonders though if this had always been the intended course or if the Riverdale writers did a quick rewrite in order to give FP a good reason to leave Riverdale. It would definitely make sense now for FP to take Jellybean to some other city that isn't "full of darkness" like Riverdale is (which makes me laugh just writing that but that's what our characters believe of their town so...) and it would definitely be a better reason than Hermione's which is apparently that she wants to divorce Hiram and become a reality star. I think next week will end up being the graduation episode and that will officially be where the end of season 4 was meant to be so episode 4 will end up taking place after the time skip. I'm also fairly certain that Jughead will find out about Betty and Archie next week cause I can't imagine the time skip happening without him finding out. I still think it would be Hiram to drop that little nugget and I'm curious as to whether Betty and Veronica didn't spend any time together this week was cause we're saving the angst. I mean there's no way that Veronica isn't pissed at Betty too right??

Ah I was right in guessing that next week would be the graduation episode but based on the tone in the promo I wonder if Betty and Jughead will end up breaking up just cause they don't wanna do long distance rather than due to Betty cheating?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episodes 16

This week was almost entirely devoted to Panda's fight with Mechamaru and we did learn a bit more about Panda. Honestly I'm not sure what I expected Panda to be. Did I think he was human who was in a costume or a panda who gained power like the Principal in My Hero Academia? Either way I probs would have been wrong cause he's apparently something like a cursed corpse but not really. The principal of our school experimented on him and I'm assuming his two siblings and created Panda who's basically unkillable and has the ability to switch between 3 cores who each have different jujutsu powers and strength. Mechamaru on the other hand suffers from having a body that can't go into the light at all including moonlight but because of this he has an extremely strong jujutsu power that allows him to remotely control a cursed corpse. The two fought and in the end I'm pretty sure they made friends cause Panda reminded him that though he's got it bad, so do a lot of people and he shouldn't allow his circumstances to prevent him from living life. Meanwhile Itadori learned a bit more about how not to delay his punches with curse power and I'll be curious to know if this helps cause to me I thought his delayed punch was cool but I guess we're supposed to think that it's weak and not all that effective against strong opponents?

Wandavision Season 1 Episode 4

Ooh so this was definitely my favorite episode of the season so far cause not only was a it more fun to finally see what's going on outside but I also have to say that the whole sitcom shenanigans wasn't my cup of tea. I do think some of the complaints over this show are a little obnoxious cause this show isn't like Inhumans level of terrible but I can see why so many people were disappointed that this was the first Marvel Disney+ outing. Having said all that it was really nice to see the range of characters this show ended up pulling from Monica who last appeared in Captain Marvel as a child to Jimmy Woo who was in Antman & The Wasp to Darcy Lewis who I'm pretty sure was last seen in Thor: The Dark World. Apparently what's going on is that Jimmy contacted SWORD due to a missing Witsec person so SWORD sent Monica who ended up being sucked into this time/space warping reality bubble. They then called in all sorts of government response teams but it was Darcy who was able to crack the case. We also learned that it is Wanda herself who's doing all this because she is unable and unwilling to mourn Vision in a healthy way which is interesting cause that means that she's been purposefully acting out sitcom scenarios rather than being brainwashed. I wonder if the other residents in Westview are acting similarly and if Monica was deep undercover like Darcy and Jimmy theorized or if the other residents (and Monica) were under Wanda's powers similar to how people outside of Westview forgot that it even existed.

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Horimiya Season 1 Episode 2

So I don't know if this came through in my review last week or if I didn't say anything cause I wanted to seem classier or whatever but I'm seriously so in love with Miyamura. Something about his character and design feels like it hits every trope I enjoy and though it might be too soon, I can't help but see him as a future favorite husbando of mine! Ironically though I said all that, this week was all about Hori and I liked it just as much cause I know a lot of people complained that though they fell for Miyamura, they were kinda meh about Hori. Personally I didn't have that problem and I liked that she was so full of personality rather than the quiet shy blank self-insert character that a lot of rom coms have in order for the audience to put themselves in the female lead's shoes. It was so funny that she spent so much of this week trying to find out Miyamura's first name but also I adored the way Miyamura worried about her in return. He didn't understand why she was acting so weird but I also loved how quickly he stepped in to support her in the face of the student council president blaming something on her. I kind of love that the two are so into each other but they don't actually know it yet so there's no real jealousy though there is an undercurrent of sadness when they think of parting.

Riverdale Season 5 Episode 1

The fascinating thing about this season premiere is how Riverdale really just jumped right back to where we were last so this episode felt less like a premiere that shook things up and more like returning in the middle of a season break! Now there's nothing wrong with that other than the fact that we as seasoned tv watchers are used to starting a new season with a new year so the fact that we're returning to 2 weeks before graduation is interesting. This week was the prom episode and a return to the terrible video mystery that I had totally forgotten about cause it was so much lamer than the Stonewall Prep mystery we got. I still don't know who the person will end up being but as the mystery goes on, I wonder more and more about Jellybean and whether she could be the one behind it cause it can't exactly be a coincidence that she showed up at the rave. Either way I'm hoping that the mystery will be wrapped up in the next episode or two so we can clear the slate cause as we all know that there will be a time jump in this season which I'm assuming means that we'll be skipping from high school graduation to college graduation. That's probs the big reason why it looks like all our main couples are breaking up (or will break up) this week. Archie told Veronica that he kissed Betty so they broke up and I'm sure that Betty and Jughead will be following soon especially since Hiram is on a vigilante kick and overheard Veronica crying to her mom about it. I do want to say that I'm glad that even if Lili and Cole broke up offscreen that their breakup didn't cause any problems onscreen (unlike when Nina and Iain broke up on Vampire Diaries and you could see how much the two actors hated acting side-by-side) cause the two still had tons of chemistry. Meanwhile it also looks like all the complaints Vanessa lodged this summer over Riverdale never giving her story is turning into a Romeo and Juliet story for Toni and Cheryl and really I just wish I cared about them more as a couple.

The promo for next week looks like we'll be focusing in on Archie and his anger and probs his PTSD from everything he's been through in the past 5 seasons! It always makes me laugh cause this show went from him being like gee golly dad I want to play music instead of football to yeah I've been to juvie and wrestled a bear and own a gym now.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episodes 15

So the competition officially began this week and right away Itadori was separated from the others though I'm not sure if him volunteering to stay back to fight Todou meant that the other school succeeded or not especially since it looks like Todou doesn't care to follow what the others want. It was honestly hilarious seeing him decide that Itadori was going to be his best friend just cause they have similar taste in women though it's questionable how much Itadori cares since he seemed mostly confused and irritated by Todou. Itadori really seems like he's a whole other mental league than the others just cause he went through that trauma with his friend but I think that's really just chalked up to the fact that we've spent so little time on the ensemble since there's no way that 2 and 3rd years aren't serious about being a Jujutsu sorcerer either. It was also nice to see some worldbuilding in terms of where these kids will end up and it was interesting to note that like My Hero Academia, a sorcerer needs to basically be sponsored by/intern with other higher sorcerers and they can't be the person who trained them. I'm sure that eventually Itadori will end up with Nanami since he can't join Gojou.

Wandavision Season 1 Episode 3

I'm starting to wonder whether rather than Wanda being trapped in some sort of reality warping bubble if maybe she's not the one doing all this herself instead cause it really does feel like she has waaay too much control over things around her. When Vision started to question what was going on, she rewound time like last week and returned to what they were talking about before and when Monica started to remember that Pietro was killed by Ultron, it seems as though Wanda forcefully pushed Monica out. As we saw, something warped and opened and Monica fell out. It also doesn't help that the others almost told Vision that they were all something and I wonder if that something is mind controlled. Perhaps while Wanda was giving birth and her focus was elsewhere if the spell that's controlling all these people lifted enough for them to remember that they're SWORD agents and not living in some sitcom. I'm also left wondering this week about how Vision is even here cause last week I sort of just assumed that he was another figment of Wanda's imagination but he's starting to discover things on his own and that makes me think that something else is afoot.

Top 10 TV Shows Of 2020

Hi everyone! As promised, I'm back with my Top 10 Favorite TV Shows of 2020! Again, this list is based on my personal opinions and may have spoilers. I'm going to start with some honorable mentions which are some shows that I binged this year but that aren't on air anymore followed by my actual Top 10 list! If you want a refresher, check out my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2013, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2014, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2015, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2016, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2017, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2018 and Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019 as well as my Favorite YouTube Videos and My TV Show OTPs & Ships lists!! Fair warning, there may be spoilers below so keep that in mind!

Up first are my honorable mentions: shows that did not make my list of favorites for the year but still shows that I enjoyed watching!

Leverage

My first honorable mention is Leverage! So if you know me at all, you know that I'm OBSSESSED with con artist shows/movies and heist films cause there's just something so fun about watching people outsmart their targets and I think all of us find a thrill in the idea of being a Robin Hood. I actually was shocked I had never heard of this show until this year and that no one in my life would have recommended it knowing what I'm like so it wasn't until I watched the kdrama adaptation of this show (which I enjoyed fairly well) that this show got on my radar and man oh man where has this been all my life?? In the matter of one season Leverage shot up into my top 5 shows of all time! The story follows an ex-insurance investigator that puts together a team of criminals and thieves in order to help people who have exhausted all legal means of fixing their problems. Though most of this show is procedural, there are some storylines that stretch over episodes or build up in the background only to come out later and the arcs that characters go through actually stick. Every episode is creative and fun and I never once got bored of a con!

Criminal Minds

My next honorable mention is Criminal Minds! Ever since quarantine started I had been looking for a long running show that I could slowly binge but that was low stakes enough that I could watch an episode or two here and there without losing the plot so I picked this procedural. True to it's name it follows a group of FBI agents that work as criminal profilers. They fly to a random city every episode and help the local police solve their scariest cases. I was actually surprised when I finished this show how much I ended up missing having episodes to watch cause being such a long running show it did end up dragging every once in a while cause it was the same old detective story every episode with different and unique settings or overarching stories happening occasionally. Another byproduct of the fact that this show was so longrunning was the fact that so much of the cast rotated in and out but it was also so much fun to see the characters that did end up staying grow from these babies to mature adults. It was also so interesting to see how the quality of the show increased as the years went by and to see the technology on screen update too!

West Wing

And my final honorable mention is West Wing! So technically this might be cheating cause in all actuality I've watched The West Wing years ago and I've subsequently rewatched it multiple times. So why is it in my honorable mentions this year? Well that's where the cheating comes in since I think that cause this show decided to release a reunion special this fall in which all of the actors reprise their roles and act out an episode of The West Wing, it counts as a show I watched this year! No but seriously of course if you haven't watched West Wing by now, get on it! This show despite being filmed back in the early 2000s still holds true today with it's messages and themes. As the name of this show suggests, it follows the Democratic senior staff that work for the President Of The United States though I would say that it's more of an office drama than a political one. The dialogue is snappy, the acting is incredible, and I think it's worth every minute of time you spend on it.

Now onto the Top 10 list which goes from 10 to 1 with number 1 being my favorite tv show of the year!

The Flash

Coming in at number 10 is The Flash! It feels like it's been a thousand years since I last watched or even thought about this show cause while it normally should have been airing the first part of season 7 in the fall, cause of circumstances beyond their control, season 6 came to an end in the spring. I actually ended up enjoying the second half of season 6 a lot more than the first half because once Crisis happened and we didn't have to constantly talk about Barry dying when we all knew he was fine, it felt like the show got a new burst of fresh air to it. Suddenly the show fleshed out Iris's character and gave her a whole storyline and did what I had been begging the show to do since season 1! She and Team Citizen went out to investigate and suddenly the Big Bad that Barry was chasing was connected. It did suck that Cisco and Caitlin were so underutilized but I did love everything with Ralph which is why everything that came out about the actor was so unfortunate. We didn't actually get to wrap up the season in the end but I thought where we stopped was a pretty good cliffhanger so I can't wait for more! The 7th season will start on February 23rd.

Riverdale

At number 9 is Riverdale! This show was another that wasn't able to air it's full season before production shut down but what we got was all pretty great in terms of the fact that the mystery of the season actually ended up impressing me for the first time since season 1! Every thread that was dangled in the case of Stonewall Prep was tied together in a nice bow but the case with the video tapes and Mr Honey was less well done. Maybe it's cause I'm old now but high key I was on Mr Honey's side whenever the kids fought him and I was sitting here like you cannot be trying to tell me that he's the monster when he's actually the only adult in this show that's actually treating these kids as kids. I wasn't super into the whole thing where the show started to hint at Archie and Betty again cause you know I'm a Bughead shipper but after we found out that Lili and Cole broke up, it only makes sense that the show would break up the onscreen pair too which is why I'm usually super against on screen couples getting together off screen though from what I've seen Lili and Cole didn't seem to have that bad of a breakup. The rumors have it that next season will contain a time skip in which we'll return to Riverdale after our whole cast has graduated college and honestly that feels like the right thing to do and I'm sure we'll return with everything different like Pretty Little Liars did after their time skip. The 5th season will air on January 20th.

Brooklyn Nine Nine

Coming in at number 8 is Brooklyn Nine Nine! I absolutely adore this show cause I find it to be a perfect mix of comedy and seriousness. Every single character in this show well written and well rounded cause while they start out feeling like they'll be tropey in a few minutes you see that there's so much more to them. This season was so intense cause the main overarching storyline was with Jake and Amy trying to get pregnant. I constantly think that Jake and Amy are one of the most well written couples on tv cause they never really did the seesaw thing that shows love their couples to do. Once they got together, they were together and because of that it feels like we've grown up with them from these petty rivals to parents. One of my favorite episodes of this whole show was the one where they tried to get pregnant and couldn't. It was absolutely heartbreaking and absolutely beautiful to watch. We don't actually know when the next season will be coming out but I promise that whenever it will, I'll definitely be watching!

Lucifer

At number 7 is Lucifer! This show is so funny to me cause I really never loved it until it moved to Netflix so I struggle with whether I want to recommend it to others or not cause I can't exactly say oh just get through 3 seasons and then you'll have fun! The reason for this rise in my affection for this show is hands down because once it got to Netflix, the show cut out all the filler episodes and doubled down on the supernatural part of the show which is what I was interested in! This season was really exciting cause it was the season where Lucifer and Chloe finally got together. Lucifer returned from hell and we met his twin brother but it was the cliffhanger that really shook me with the appearance of God. I had been wondering for a while if the show would ever bring God into it or if they would leave it kinda vague so that we could pull our own conclusions out of it but I think ultimately I'm glad. I don't know if I loved everything was Maze though and I was totally sad that Eve didn't come back but here's hoping that whenever the second half of season 5 arrives that she will too!

The Magicians

Coming in at number 6 is The Magicians! Look okay we're all hella bitter that this show killed off Quentin and yes I did think the show's synergy shifted once he did but I still watched the whole final season of the show cause no other show goes as absolutely bat shit crazy like this one does. I still don't know if I liked how much time and energy was spent having our character mourn Quentin or if I would have preferred the show stick to theirs guns with his death and move forward but some of the mourning scenes were the best of the show and I liked that it allowed characters who don't normally spend time together like Eliot and Alice to actually connect. We played around with time travel this season and I actually really enjoyed every single second of it! The villain was also fun cause he was neither good nor bad for so long of the season and I actually liked where everyone ended up minus Penny who's entire teaching at Brakebills storyline was so boring. Speaking of the whole open ending didn't bother me either cause I like the idea that these people's lives will never be normal and once we leave it's not that they'll never have another adventure again but that we won't be seeing it.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

At number 5 is The Clone Wars! I have always been a original trilogy kind of girl but it wasn't until I watched Clone Wars that I started to form an appreciation towards the prequel trilogy as well. This year we got the final season for this show that had been planned and it actually took us all the way up and through Revenge Of The Sith which was absolutely fascinating. We got to see what Ashoka did during the end of the Clone Wars and how she struggled to figure out who she was after she left the Jedi Order. She had spent her entire life there and losing it really tore her up. I didn't particularly need more Darth Maul (who the adoration for makes as much sense to me as the love for Boba Fett) but I liked the way he was brought back in and more Bo Katan is never a bad thing. I even enjoyed meeting the Bad Batch which I'm sure was an opinion shared by all cause now they're getting their own show.

The Witcher

Coming in at number 4 is The Witcher! So technically this might be cheating cause the actual first season of The Witcher aired in December of 2019 but I only watched in January of 2020 so personally I think it should count not to mention the fact that if it had aired like normal tv then it totally would have ended in 2020! I have actually never read the books or played the game which this show is based on but I went in cause I saw Henry Cavill's beautiful face playing the lead and found myself falling in love with the characters, storytelling, and the world. I was really fascinated with the way the show played around with multiple timelines so that at first you only really got hints towards the fact that we weren't watching things concurrently. Ciri was a little boring to follow but I was super into everything we got with Geralt and Yennefer including their romance which not going to lie I was all about. The war at the end of the first season was so much fun to watch and though the cliffhanger of Geralt and Ciri finally meeting had me screaming in frustration cause I wanted more, it did leave us in the perfect place. The second season is supposedly coming out in 2021 and if I had to guess it'd be in December again.

Agents Of SHIELD

At number 3 is Agents Of SHIELD! I was truly heartbroken that this year marked the final season for this beloved show of mine. As you know, I have been watching SHIELD religiously from the first episode that aired to the last without dropping it once and this final season was really a love letter to the fans. I mean yes I was bitter as hell that Fitz wasn't in this season until the end cause he's been my favorite character since the beginning but I can't exactly blame the writers for a decision that an actor made to step away from a show so instead we can focus on the positives. I loved that this entire season was about time travel and that we traveled around and saw so many fan favorites though at new points in their lives and that so many Easter Eggs were left around for the hardcore fans to find. I gained a new appreciation for Daniel Sousa who became a regular in this season and ended up with Daisy and though the ending didn't really work for me cause it feels a little too much like tv writing to end the series with all our characters separated (unlike The Magicians who's open ending I praised) but I was still happy with how happy our characters were. This show will forever have a place in my heart.

Vikings

Coming in at number 2 is The Vikings! It's honestly kinda crazy that I ended up placing this season so high on my list cause I've always felt that Vikings may have peaked in their first season in so much that I've always liked watching this show and I have watched every episode that aired as it airs but I've always thought that the best episodes were in season 1. It's especially interesting that season ranks so high cause if you know me you know that Lagertha was my favorite character on this show and this season we actually see her die but I have to say that of all the characters who died in this show, Lagertha hands down had the best goodbye including Ragnar himself! This season made me cry and cry and cry and I swear that even to this day when I watch Lagertha's funeral scene, I cry all over again as if it's my first time. I am really excited for the next season and how it plays around with Rus but I'm worried that after we lose Bjorn (who's possible death was the cliffhanger for the first half of this final season) we'll actually be watching the fall of the Vikings. I mean it would give us a nice rounded show in which we saw the rise and fall of the Vikings but my heart cries for the fact that we spent so many seasons loving these characters that I just want them to be happy!

Legends Of Tomorrow

And finally at number 1 is Legends Of Tomorrow! Honestly was this a surprise to anyone who's been keeping up with my blog?? I never not have a blast with this show and this season might have been up there with my favorites! Though this show is an ensemble, I have to say that in my mind it was Zari and Behrad that stood out most despite this season being the one to flesh out Charlie. Zari 1.0 had always been a favorite of mine so I was worried when she came back as Zari 2.0 but luckily enough I ended up liking the new version just as much though I think a large reason for it was her sibling relationship with Behrad. He showed up this season and cause he was always supposed to be around it really did feel like we had known him forever. I was also hardcore shocked to find myself on board with Zari 2.0 and Constantine when the season past I was so on board with Zari 1.0 and Nate! Somehow Tala Ashe made it so Zari 2.0 didn't actually have chemistry with Nate when it's the same actors. I also did end up liking the whole Fates storyline cause I'm a sucker for Greek mythology and in the end it looks like we lost Charlie but maybe gained Astra as a season regular and I seriously can't wait until the next season where we're in space! Maybe we'll run into the Hawks again cause they are Thanagarian??

So that concludes my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2020 list and I'll see you all tomorrow for my list of Top 10 Asian Dramas Of 2020!

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 18

I did really enjoy this episode of Batwoman but I'm not sure that I understand where the rest of this season was supposed to go. I still can't help but feel like two episodes ago when Alice was put in prison or last week when the whole guilt storyline came to a close should have been the end of the season. Even if we didn't have our shortened season, the fact that we dealt with our season long villain only to start seeding random new threats this week when there would have been only 5 episodes left felt strange. I mean all of a sudden Julia isn't who we think she is and neither is Reagan. Julia apparently left the British spy service 6 months ago after spitting on everything they believe in and is after this journal that describes how to kill Batman/Batwoman and I'm sitting here like I wonder who she's working for. At first I didn't want to believe that a Pennyworth was bad and it's possible she still isn't but at the same time it would be more drama for the show if she was. Reagan on the other hand reappeared this week and I was like oh interesting only for her to be Magpie's sister and scout and yikes is Reagan in for a bad time in the future cause she's definitely going to get a visit from Batwoman soon. I do have to say though that I'm loving watching Alice rule Arkham cause it feels so Batman to have a villain as the head that allows Batman's Rogues in and out whenever they want. I also really loved the talk that Kate had with Mary about why she tried so hard to keep Mary safe and it was totally sweet cause you know I live for scenes with the two. We also the beginning of Batman Hush storyline with Tommy Eliot which should be interesting cause we don't actually have a Batman.

Next week is the penultimate episode for Batwoman with the whole shortened season thing and I'm excited to see what happens! Hush is on the rampage and Alice escapes only to capture a lot of Team Batwoman.

Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 5

We met a new Sohma this week who I'm pretty sure was the final zodiac member we hadn't met yet and I high key adore him already! It's funny cause I haven't actually heard anything about Kureno from the Fruits Basket fandom unlike how excited everyone was about Rin last week but honestly I'm more fascinated with Kureno than Rin! He's clearly being set up as Uo's future love interest and this makes me so excited cause obviously I want nothing but good things for Uo and this might be how Uo finds out about the Sohmas and the curse. I had been wondering for a while if Uo and Hana would ever find out about the Sohmas but I assumed that they never would cause they seemed like side characters rather than main ones but I kind of like the idea of them finding love in the Sohma clan too. What's interesting though is that of all the Sohmas, Kureno seems to be the most beaten into submission by Akito cause like he told Uo all he does is go where he's told and I wonder how important he is to Akito cause I assumed that it was Shigure who was closest to Akito but seeing how Akito embraced Kureno at the end has me wondering what's going on! I wish we could learn more about the Sohmas already and what this curse is cause now that we've met all our characters, we need to focus on the plot! I assume that by the end of this show the curse must be lifted or something so let's hop to it please! The other half of the episode was about the kids going to a haunted house and it was all pretty meh though I did think it was funny how exhausted Kyo and Yuki were about the whole thing in the end.

The Flash Season 6 Episode 18

I was mostly just meh about this week's episode despite it being the penultimate episode. Cisco and Ralph returned this week and Barry told everyone about the Mirrorverse and what happened. Cisco did not take this well cause like Barry he had been living with a mirror copy of his girlfriend and while they were trying to figure out how to get into this Mirrorverse, they met another Godspeed though this one is apparently the real one and all the others were just copies. With Cisco busy and Barry low on speed, they turned to Hartley Sawyer who's the villain Pied Piper in this post-Crisis world again and apparently hated Barry more than before cause Barry accidentally hurt the man he loved. They ended up saving the guy thus Hartley was able to help them stop Godspeed. I do have to say that Godspeed's plan was low key idiotic cause Barry doesn't actually have like any velocity left so wanting Barry to give it up is hilarious. On that note it's still so weird that Barry hasn't built an artificial Speedforce yet and I'm starting to wonder if we'll even get one by the end of this season or if it'll end up being something for later. It would be a good cliffhanger for the season if the last few minutes were of Barry's hand shaking or lightning streaking. Over with Caitlin and Frost, Frost said goodbye to Ralph this week and it felt was oddly final which made me wonder if Danielle would be taking some time off of this show cause of her baby though Ralph got angry with Frost so maybe we'll just really say goodbye to Frost for a bit? Honestly I wouldn't mind this cause I miss Caitlin! Iris also started to suffer from being in the Mirrorverse too long like Eva did with the headaches and the itching but she did find Camilia and I think it would be super cool if this storyline followed Iris back but I have a feeling that once she leaves the Mirrorverse she'll be fine again.

With next week being the finale, the promo seems to be all about how Iris might be succumbing to insanity after being in the Mirrorverse so long but honestly Barry I don't think you should be taking advice from Carver!

Legends Of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 11

I love Legends so much and I'm so beyond happy that of all the shows that I'm watching currently that Legends was the one to have already finished filming and producing their season so it's not shortened! I had been saying last week that I was curious about what the big problem with this show would be if we had already collected the three pieces of the Loom and had Charlie as a Fate and we got an answer this week. Apparently Charlie is not strong enough to work the Loom on her own but I can't imagine that her sisters would ever help so I'm going to assume that the only way to use the Loom will be to make two of the other women on the ship into Fates and if I had to guess, it'd be Sara who's basically an Oracle already and Astra cause she's been trained to be a Fate by a Fate. This would mean more if we didn't know that John could basically strip the immortality from a Fate cause he did it to Charlie a few seasons ago but there still might be something tragically poetic about Astra finally getting her mother back only to not be able to be with her cause she's no longer attached to the mortal world. I do think it's really cool that Sara's an Oracle now too but once again the fact that she's gone blind probably indicates that she'll be fixed by the end of the season cause while I could imagine that she keeps her future vision powers, I can't see her staying blind. Maybe it's something the Loom can fix too? In other news Mick brought Lita onto the ship and I'm still really not interested in this storyline and that's mostly just cause I don't care for Mick in general. I'm also not thrilled with how Astra spent so much time this week teasing Zari about how she has a thing with John cause I really thought the show was being a fun subtle with this possible relationship but by banging us over the head with oh look at how cute Zari and John are, it's not as fun. It's also ridiculous cause all that happened was that Zari told John that they should get Behrad first and that's not so weird cause Zari did threaten John two weeks ago!

Next week it looks we'll be dealing with frats on a college campus that possibly are under a spell and while that seems hilarious, I'm not sure whether going back to hunting Encores is a great idea since Astra isn't even in Hell to send them but maybe the Fates would think that luring the Legends out of the temporal zone would allow them to get the Loom back.

Tower Of God Episode 6

I low key want to apologize for my meltdown last week cause honestly I think the point of this show is to slowly give us bits of information as we go rather than all at once so I shouldn't be that pissed. We learned a little more about our main characters and the world this week. Apparently everyone who climbs this Tower is ranked into one of five categories but I'm not entirely sure if we're supposed to assume that based on that chart we saw if Fisherman is supposed to be the highest rank just cause it was on top. We do find out that of our main trio, Bam is a Wave Controller which is basically the magician of this world, Khun is a Light Controller which is basically the person who tells the others what to do and how to do it, and Rak is a Spear Bearer which is pretty self explanatory. We also learn that the Princesses of Jahad are simply just women from different families that are adopted as Jahad's daughters and given power. Endorsi as we find out is another Princess so now we've got two and a half in this Tower currently with Yuri on her way to find Bam and Anaak as it turns out not really being a real Princess. We learn through Khun and flashbacks that the Anaak we know is in fact the daughter of the real Princess Anaak and that this Anaak has only taken on her name. Apparently she believes that the real Anaak died heartbroken cause the other Princesses of Jahad killed the man she loved and though I don't know how much I believe that, I'm curious as to why  the Tower Admins aren't worried about Anaak like they are with Bam. I mean the only reason she is climbing this Tower is apparently to kill as many Princesses as possible in revenge and that feels like it should be against the rules! Rachel also came to see Bam and she told Khun to lie to Bam about who she was and though Khun assumed that it was cause Rachel was ambitious like the woman he loved, Rachel seemed to be seriously torn up about the whole thing in the privacy of her room and it makes me wonder what's really going on. She seemed to have a nightmare about Bam leaving her for these new friends he was making but it's like if you're so scared to lose him, why not reach out? It's not like the other competitors are all staying away from each other.

FINISHED Rivedale Season 4 Episode 19

Honestly I feel like it's unfair to judge this episode like the finale it is cause it normally wasn't supposed to be one. I'm saying this cause as a finale I don't think this episode worked but that doesn't mean that this episode wasn't fun to watch! I actually really liked the whole storyline with Jughead in which we watched him write a story for his college application and saw it play out as if it was happening for real cause it felt like an homage to the old theories that Riverdale viewers had about Jughead's death being a part of his Baxter Brothers novel. I also really liked that it played back to back with what was actually happening in the real world with Mr Honey and the fact that he was attempting to cancel prom. As we learn Honey besides being into creepy videos has been cancelling proms in every school he taught at for some reason and I do have to say it was completely hilarious that the kids all turned to their parents when they needed help and I loved how badass the parents were in getting prom back on. It was the most high school we've ever seen these kids act cause I did totally expect what Jughead was writing to be the way they got their prom back but instead we saw them prank the principal like the kids they are and ask for help! Since we also learned that Honey isn't the one sending the tapes so I'm back to the theory that Charles and Chic are working together on this and I'm not sure I love the weird retcon that despite Honey acting creepy these last two episodes, that he was a good guy after all. I think it's possible that he did both good and bad and yeah it makes sense that he would go to Stonewall. I still don't entirely understand why Jughead lost his spot at Yale other than the fact that Betty wanted it and the show wants to give Betty what she wants but I'm glad he's got some sort of college plan with the University of Iowa. The episode ended on Betty and Jughead watching a video of Honey being killed by them and I wonder what it even means? Could the voyeur be one of the kids?

Harley Quinn Season 2 Episode 6

This week's episode was basically this show's version of Harley Quinn and Joker's first meeting which kind of made the episode a little boring after how much I enjoyed last week's episode. I know it's needed for the people who watch this show and don't know Harley's backstory but honestly I'm pretty sure like Bruce Wayne losing his parents, everyone and their mother know that Harley was a therapist who fell in love with Joker. It's especially a weird place to put this episode cause it would have made more sense in season 1. I do like the idea that Joker falling into that vat of acid made me human again and erased his memories but I have a feeling that at some point, maybe even by the end of this season, Joker will end up losing this new family he has and return to being Joker. I mean after all his whole thing is that one bad day can turn anyone evil. I also liked the reveal that Harley actually didn't get Joker's real childhood back then and that he actually used Ivy's backstory to trick Harley cause it's seriously such a Joker move. Harley always thought that she meant more to Joker than she did and this was a nice way to remind the audience why the two are toxic. It's also interesting to note that Joker mentioned in the flashback that he did kill Jason Todd so now we know that Batman had a Robin before Damian and that there might be a Red Hood out there but I'm still waiting on Dick!
