Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019

Hi everyone! As promised, I'm back with my Top 10 Favorite TV Shows of 2019! Again, this list is based on my personal opinions and may have spoilers. There was a lot of great TV out this year so I'm going to start with some honorable mentions which has some shows that are still on air but that just missed the top 10 list! If you want a refresher, check out my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2013, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2014, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2015, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2016, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2017 and Top 10 TV Shows Of 2018 as well as my Favorite YouTube Videos and My TV Show OTPs & Ships lists!! Fair warning, there may be spoilers below so keep that in mind!

Up first are my honorable mentions: shows that did not make my list of favorites for the year but still shows that I enjoyed watching!

Titans

My first honorable mention is Titans! I was truly not a fan of season 1 of Titans for so many reasons but season 2 was definitely leagues better though in the end it did devolve into a mess which is the main reason that it's not on my top 10 list this year. The Deathstroke storyline started out so strongly and ended with everyone being confused as what we experienced but I think the major problem with this season was it's writing cause instead of letting the characters tell the story, it forced the strangest decisions for the characters in order to get from point A to B. Having said that I did enjoy a lot of episodes this season and some of the characters on this show are my babies so I couldn't help but shout it out. Dick Grayson is such a badass and I loved watching his journey to become Nightwing this season and I still adore Gar to pieces even though I will constantly wish he had more screen-time. The 100

My next honorable mention for this year is The 100! This show is almost consistently one of my favorites cause I love the way the show looks at humanity and morality and how in times of war or crisis people will either hold firm to their morals or place the ends before the means. This season was very interesting cause we looked at immortality and were on an alien planet and I loved the way this show went so off the rails! I will never stop shipping Bellamy and Clarke (their actors are married in real life!!) but I low key wouldn't mind if they just loved each other so desperately in a platonic manner. They're two sides of the same coin and I adore that about this show. I enjoyed the villains a lot this season but I do have to admit that the ending sort of took the show in a weird direction which is why it's not on my top 10. Now onto the Top 10 list which goes from 10 to 1 with number 1 being my favorite drama of the year!

Agents Of SHIELD

Coming in at number 10 is Agents Of SHIELD! This is just as sad for me as it is for any of you that are reading this and are fans of SHIELD. I just wasn't a huge fan of this past season despite how excited I was to check this show out. I'm afraid that this show peaked at season 4 and it's all been downhill from there. I really didn't care for the villains this year and it felt super weird to have Clark Gregg playing someone who wasn't Coulson which led to a feeling that the show was spinning it's wheels a bit. I did enjoy everything up in space though and seeing Fitz and Enoch together as well as the way the show used the Chromocons which does make me fairly excited for the final season airing this summer but that's not enough to push this show higher up than number 10 on my list. If you're interested, click here for more content!

Lucifer

At number 9 is Lucifer! This is the first time that this show has been on my list of top 10 shows but this season just gave me everything I ever wanted from this show which sucks cause the next one will be the last! Why save this show Netflix if you were just going to cancel it two seasons later?? I was so excited that Chloe finally learned the truth about Lucifer actually being the devil and I loved watching her accept that fact with all the grace of being a detective even though it was rough watching her dislike Lucifer and be scared of him. Eve was also such a highlight cause she was the perfect mix of naive and pure but mischievous and I shipped her so hard with Maze! The ending for the season was so much fun and I loved the cliffhanger cause it makes me want the next season now!

Gotham

Coming in at number 8 is Gotham! Technically this show came to an end airing it's final season this year but I wanted to shout it out anyway cause I adored it so much. I know so many people hate this show but I'm of the mind that I love crazy kooky shows and Gotham was exactly that. I don't need to follow everything closely and things don't have to be realistic or follow real life cause why watch a tv show except for a fantastical approach to life? I loved seeing where our characters ended up in the future and how everyone changed from the first day we met them all the way back in season 1. The whole No Man's arc was super fun as well and I will miss these characters so much! Click here for more in-depth weekly reviews and other content!

Riverdale

At number 7 is Riverdale! Riverdale has consistently been one of my favorite shows from the moment it started airing which is totally crazy cause half the time I don't understand what's happening but I can't help it! I do end up embracing the illogical story movement but at the same time I think one of the things I adore about the season that's currently airing is that it's a little more grounded in it's storylines so there's no insane serial killer out to covert everyone but at the same time the fact that each of our main characters have their own thing going does make the show feel a smidge less cohesive. Betty and Jughead of course are still my favorite characters and my favorite ship on the show with Cheryl being the least interesting and the one I could live without in general and it doesn't help that her story this season has been so completely insane. If you're interested, click here for more in depth reviews and other content!

Brooklyn Nine Nine

Coming in at number 6 is Brooklyn Nine Nine! This is another show that I have been almost religiously watching since it started though I don't think I've ever had it on a previous top 10 list but I just couldn't keep it out of my head as I tried to think of my favorite shows of the year! This show has everything from amazing characters to great comedy to a fantastic way of looking at such intense deep topics in a comedic manner while refusing to undercut them or make them sillier than they were. Jake and Amy have one of the healthiest relationships I've almost ever seen on tv and I love how almost every character is the opposite of the trope you would expect! Jake despite being the "cool" one is best friends with Charles rather than someone who makes fun of the dork and Amy despite being a Latina is the teacher's pet rather than the tough one and Holt is just all kinds of incredible with his dry wit. If you're not watching this show, you're seriously missing out!

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

At number 5 is The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina! So technically this might be cheating cause it was only the second half of season 1 that aired this year but I just loved this show so much that I had to thrown it on my list! I remember loving Sabrina The Teenage Witch when I was a kid so I was excited to see this new dark version and it's pretty much everything I could want! It's so dark and creepy and fun that I just can't put it into words. I love the world this show has built and all the characters we've gotten and the magical plots we have to deal with every week. The only thing I'm not a fan of is Sabrina's human friends who are super annoying tbh and the ironic thing is that though I adore Ross Lynch from Austin & Ally, my ship in this show is between Nick and Sabrina which low key sucks cause Sabrina is with Harvey in most canon so I know I'm going to be heartbroken!

Fruits Basket

Coming in at number 4 is Fruits Basket 2019! I refuse to call shenanigans on this being my number 4 cause it's my list and I make the rules so I say that an anime can be on my list of favorite tv shows. This is mostly cause I don't think I watched enough anime this year to make a top 10 and I just adored this anime to pieces so I couldn't help but want to shout it out! It's technically a remake of the 2001 version of this show which is an adaptation of a manga but I never really liked the original version of the anime so I started this one with high doubts only to be stunned with what I watched. Fruits Basket is so unique cause it takes what should be a run-of-the-mill shoujo anime and makes it into this deep and meaningful look at friendship and family and abuse and torture and what it means to love someone. There's humor and romance and tears and everything you could possibly want! Click here for more in-depth weekly reviews and other content!

The Magicians

At number 3 is The Magicians! Ugh lord I could gush about this show for days and days and I really wish people would stop sleeping on this incredible show cause it's absolute perfection. I've said before that it's like Harry Potter meets Narnia but that doesn't even cover the scope of how unique and fun this show is. Every single character is so multi-dimensional and they go through these wonderful arcs each season. I love that there's so much diversity in the cast from race to sex to sexual orientation though I do have to admit that this past season had a controversial finale which I was completely against for different reasons that most of the public did but I don't want to throw this show away cause everything else is perfect. It's meta in the funniest ways, it looks at such deep and dark topics without smacking you in the face about it and it just lets you have fun by kicking back, turning off your brain and diving into this world of magic!

Legends Of Tomorrow

Coming in at number 2 is Legends Of Tomorrow! I mean you had to have seen this coming by now right? So many of the shows that I love are so insane and that's because I prefer my tv to be entertaining and escapism so yes give me time travel and crazy plots and fun musical numbers and magic and demons and clones! This past season might have been one of the best this show has had and I feel so bad for anyone who only checked out the first season of this show and dropped it cause none of the seasons that followed the first were anything like the first! Sara is the most perfect human and I fell in love with Zari this past season and oddly enough her romance with Nate which I didn't think I needed but I think I'm just a sucker for tragedy so as soon as they threw reality wiping into the mix, I was sold! I will watch a million seasons of this show and so should you! If you're interested, click here for more weekly in depth reviews and other content!

Arrow

And finally, at number 1 is Arrow! I mean you had to have seen this coming right? I'm sorry that it's not more of a surprise twist but this is the final year that Arrow is airing so maybe next year we can try for something new! Oh god this show is ending this year and I don't know what to do with myself! Arrow was THE show that got me to fall back in love with superhero tv shows cause I used to watch all the animated ones back in the day but I fell off of them until I watched Arrow. Stephen Amell just kills it every single week as Oliver Queen the most perfect broody hero that has ever hero-ed. This last season was such a lovely goodbye to this show and the character Oliver Queen though I'll never not be bitter that Emily Bett Rickards decided that this was the year she wasn't going to appear on this show even though it was the last! I loved seeing Oliver and Diggle spend one last adventure together and for Oliver to meet his future children and show the world why he's the one that started it all so don't forget to click here for more weekly reviews and other content!

So that concludes my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019 list and I'll see you all tomorrow for my list of Top 10 Asian Dramas Of 2019!

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hey guys so I wanted to apologize for skipping both the Arrow and Flash reviews last week but I was crazy busy and I will be for the rest of the tv year and I debated how to keep up with my normal reviews while having little time and in the end I decided to do my reviews like I do my weekly asian drama reviews where I do kind of quickie reviews so here we are! I hope you enjoy!

Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2

I really enjoyed this episode and I actually think I liked it better than the first episode of season 8 cause though both had similar themes of the calm before the storm, the first felt more like let's catch up with everyone we haven't seen in ages while this one felt more like the actual let's live before we die. Arya and Gendry hook up and Jon tells Dany about his parentage. We unfortunately cut away before we could truly see what her reaction to that news would be but based on the type of character Dany is, I'm sure she'll see him as a threat to her rule and I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to kill him midbattle or flees south out of anger. She's made it clear over and over that she's only here cause she loves Jon no matter how terrifying the White Walkers are. This of course leads to my favorite scene of the night which was Sansa and Dany talking one-on-one and I think that after this scene where Dany literally says "who's manipulating whom" to Sansa the foreshadowing for Jon using Dany's feelings against her is pretty clear and I think this was the moment that Sansa realized it too cause she softened immediately afterwards though I love that she stood her ground about Northern Independence. One of my favorite things about Sansa is how much she cares about the smallfolk and their comfort cause people seem to forget that Sansa had a front row seat to the smallfolk riots in Kings Landing when they were starving and because of that she knows how terrible it is for the nobles if they don't care. I also loved the reunion between Theon and Sansa which almost brought tears to my eyes cause of how sweet it was. It's interesting how much the show is showing us this season the differences between Dany and Sansa and the kind of rulers they would be. Dany only cares about what she wants and hates when advisors disagree with her and once they do something she doesn't like, that's it for them *cough Tyrion cough.* Meanwhile Sansa cares about everyone and people flock to her out of love and respect instead of fear and she takes what they say into consideration like with Brienne and Jaime. Speaking of, the chamberfire scene when Brienne was finally knighted was so beautiful cause it was all she ever wanted and I loved Podrick singing that terribly beautiful song that's foreshadowing all the death next week.

Speaking of death, I definitely think Grey Worm, Theon, Bran, and Gendry are all main characters who are going to die next week. I also wonder if maybe sending all the women and children to the crypts is a bad idea but I also don't know the rules for how old a body has to be for the White Walkers to raise it so we'll have to see.

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 18

I really debated not doing this review cause I'm really over Supergirl as a show and I don't know why cause the writing of this show is probably the most consistent it has been but I just think that there's nothing in this show that keeps me interested and no characters that I've connected to. There are themes that I think are really interesting and I of course am loving Lex and his amazing plan to discredit Supergirl but other than that I'm meh about the whole thing. Kara spends the episode being hated by everyone and Lena and Alex try to change that. It was funny watching all the inmates suddenly hate Supergirl for being a terrorist and I'm sitting here like but all of you are the same so why do you care? Otis was a highlight especially when he called the press out for being unable to see the bigger picture as long as they get their hot story. I also loved when Kara ran into the thug from before and suddenly he's a big fan of Kara for being pro-alien. Brainy decided to destroy the alien registry to protect other aliens and I do adore him despite the terrible writing the show gives him. It was a little weird to see Haley turn and be on Supergirl's side and I didn't really buy her reasoning for doing so even if it was uplifting to see her warn Supergirl of the danger in the DEO. Maybe part of my struggle this season is just how much I hate the storyline of the country turning against aliens cause it hits too close to home with all the anti-immigration sentiment in the country in real life. I got so nauseous watching the president deputize the Agents of Liberty as if they were a force for good rather than just another hate mongering group.

The promo for next week shows that Nia will be stepping up as a hero and honestly is anyone else as confused as me as to what her powers are? I thought she could only dream of the future and didn't have any extra powers or strengths which to me feels like she should be a supporting hero like an Overwatch or a Brainy than out on the streets type.

Arrow Season 7 Episode 19

Last week I had to skip my Arrow review cause of time but I really enjoyed watching the ladies of Arrow kick ass especially with Sara returning and this week we got back to the overarching story and I'm still loving Emiko as the Big Bad. We met Emiko basically Day 1 of this season and I love that unlike Dante who is just another Diaz clone, Emiko is much more interesting. She has so many more ties to the characters of Arrow and though I wish hints of her had appeared earlier, I like how she's written. I like that she's torn between being this evil person and a lost girl looking for family. Every time Oliver reaches out to her, you can see how torn she is about turning him down especially since the only reason that Emiko even turned to the Ninth Circle is that they gave her a sense of family. Now that she found out that Dante was the one to kill her mother, those ties are probably even weaker and I definitely think she'll turn on them by the end. I was surprised that she killed Dante so easily/quickly but I'm wondering if there's anyone else she has to listen to or if she's really at the top cause when she changes sides, will the Ninth Circle be completely destroyed? I was also surprised that Felicity killed ARCHER this week cause the flash forwards showed us that ARCHER is still up and running but then we found out that Alena kept a copy of the code and I'm sure she's going to try to sell it to whoever that fancy tech guy they talked about. I actually thought for a second that maybe he was a Ninth Circle member cause that would have been a very sneaky way for Emiko to get ARCHER but instead they went the old fashioned break in route. I did love that we finally met some of Diggle's family cause it's been 7 seasons and we never met his parents! It was funny that he was a Stewart (cause of Green Lantern duh) and I'd like to imagine in Jay Garrick's Earth where Diggle is a Green Lantern that he probably took Stewart's last name. The flash forwards were awful as always cause they always seem to provide us new and horrifying information about our heroes and this week we learned that JJ actually became a criminal and that he hates his entire family enough to actually want to murder Connor.

The promo for next week shows Oliver being framed for murders that Emiko commits and it's very strange that I'm so surprised by this cause I really don't know why Emiko would blame Oliver for any of her anger but I think it's a matter of misplaced anger. Robert isn't alive for her to hate and she just killed Dante for her mother so Oliver's the only one left to despise. It is a little sad how quickly everyone turns on Oliver cause like wouldn't Star City believe in him a tiny bit more?

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 12

This was a bit of a disappointing episode of Legends especially since I so adored last week's and it probably has to do with the fact that this was an Ava centric episode. For the life of me I cannot get behind Ava as a character. Like she's fine in most instances and I love her dynamic with Gary but I think she's best as a recurring or minor character and although I find some of her moments with Sara cute, I don't entirely ship them either and as the season goes on, I'm more and more afraid that this is a way to write off Sara or take her from the Legends cause the whole theme of this episode was Ava and Sara's relationship. It was interesting to see how much Ava wants Sara to be a different person which once again bugs me. Sara isn't really the type to settle down. She likes adventure and living in the moment and Ava's the opposite. I understand Ava being insecure and being scared that Sara will leave her for someone or something else but Sara is already committed in the way she knows with being exclusive and being together whenever there's nothing wrong in the timeline and I don't really think this episode cleared this up so I'm not entirely sure where this left us. On the other hand, the Neuron stuff was the most interesting and I really didn't think that he was killed off cause that would have been too quick. I do like the twist that Neuron is in Ray though it's super strange that Constantine would not be able to sense that Ray is possessed and I guess it's a really good thing that Nora's in a coma otherwise she definitely would. I still really hate the way the show took Hank and I really don't understand the theme park thing but it was fun to watch Nate be at the end of his ropes. I loved his line about how he would throw himself out a window if the person calling on Hank's secret phone was his mistress. We end the episode with Nate stopping the destruction of the theme park and that makes me wonder where they'll take this cause I doubt he wants to follow through with this plan. Maybe he wants to make a sanctuary for magical creatures or maybe he will go through with the park only now he'll get the consent of the creatures? Zari trying to figure out what to text Nate all episode was really funny as well but I was sitting here like why can't you just ask him if he's okay cause afterall his dad just died!

Never mind what I said about not knowing that Neuron is in Ray cause it looks like Ray was only slightly possessed and it is enough for him to realize that something is wrong but not enough for him to be controlled entirely like Desmond. I'll be interested to see what happens and whether Neuron ends up jumping into another body like this is some sort of hot potato game but if I had to guess, I'd say that he'll probably get entirely controlled by the end of the episode.

The Flash Season 5 Episode 19

This was an interesting episode cause I'm usually a huge fan of Caitlin centric episodes and I haven't been a huge fan of Nora this season but I think this episode was poorly placed in this season. Nora just got interesting and instead of focusing on her and Eobard and Iris going to the future, we focused on Icicle and I was just not as interested as I would have been. Despite this I did like what the show did with Icicle this week and I loved the idea that he wanted to make an ice family for himself which is why he kidnapped Caitlin and her mom. Was anyone else even the slightest bit surprised that the mom ended up getting meta powers? While this was happening, I was casually trying to think of other female ice villains in the DCU besides Killer Frost and the only one I could think of was Mrs Freeze! It was sad to see Thomas sacrifice himself for Caitlin but narratively it was there so Barry could see that his approach to Nora was wrong. By the by Caitlin literally just lost her father to Grace!Cicada like Barry lost his mom to Eobard but how much do you wanna bet we probs will never touch on this again except for maybe a line or two in the future from Caitlin about how Grace!Cicada needs to pay? The more interesting part of the episode to me was the Iris stuff and how angry she was with Barry for sending Nora back to the future without consulting her. I was completely on her side in this argument cause not only was Barry an asshole for not even thinking to consult his wife about his decision but he blamed her for being emotional when it was him who wasn't thinking clearly. I kind of wish that this anger had gone on for more than one episode cause I can't see how in real life an argument like this could be solved in a day but I get it cause this show doesn't like to separate Barry and Iris for more than a few seconds. I loved that she got to see Eobard and Nora interact in the future and more Ralph is always a great thing. I had been thinking for a while that Eobard seemed to really care for Nora and she clearly really cares for him too cause she's never had a father figure so it was nice that Iris mentioned it too. I wonder if they'll end up getting Eobard out of death row to get him to help and then once he does, he escapes cause I can't see the show actually killing off Eobard.

Next week is another female rogue team and it looks like Nora is going to be a little evil which is kinda fun. I really wish the show would get rid of Grace!Cicada already cause she's just as boring as Cicada was and I'm so much more interested in evil Nora and Eobard and I had really hoped for a while that they would do like Arrow and switch their villain midseason.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 19

What a strange episode that we all just watched! The Jones Family played G&G to save JB, Betty kept trying and failing to take down the Farm and Veronica and Archie tried to deal with the death of the boxer who Archie fought last week. It never ceases to amuse me how Betty and Jughead always have their own stories to deal with while the show always seems to put Veronica and Archie in the same storyline no matter their relationship status. I assume it's because Jughead and Betty are actually interesting while Archie is a stick in the mud who I've been bored with since season 1 while Veronica is touch and go. I still hate that she broke up with Reggie cause they had loads more chemistry that Archie and Veronica did. In turn I was super bored during most of the Archie stuff but it's weird that we're circling back to the Hiram hates Archie storyline which I really thought we put to rest. I assume Hiram was playing a long game once he got out of the hospital but I also wonder if it came about once Veronica broke up with Reggie and starting hanging out with Archie again. I was surprised to find out that Evelyn was actually Edgar's wife and not his daughter as Betty found out this week and like the only thing I could think of was ew but also couldn't Betty take that info to the police or the news and at the very least get Evelyn kicked out of school? It was hilarious honestly seeing Penelope up and run away with one of Polly's babies and I seriously doubt that Hal is dead. If anything he probably escaped in the cover of whatever accident occurred. Gladys also left town which was a sad moment but JB is sticking around and at least now Riverdale will be safer with the drug trade once again shut down.

The promo for next week shows that we might finally get rid of the Gargoyle King and I hope that's true cause honestly the Farm is much more interesting and seriously Betty needs the Core Four to help her fight cause she's lost everyone else to them and she's starting to waver too which is why she needs Jughead at the least by her side.

Gotham Season 5 Episode 12

This was the series finale for Gotham and I actually really liked the idea of seeing everyone 10 years later though I wish that we had actually seen more of Bruce. I am glad we at the very least saw his batsuit which tbh was actually not half bad! The actress who played adult Selina looked so much like young Selina so like props to the casting! I loved seeing her be a cat burglar and that even to this day she knew when Bruce was around and though it was heartbreaking that the show is ending with them apart, I'm sure that their relationship is not over especially we're just now reaching batman year one. I was a little annoyed that we never saw the adult Bruce on screen but I guess that it makes a little sense cause Bruce does need the crew to separate him from Batman and to act all frivolous and uncaring would help them separate young Bruce who had a sense of justice from older Bruce. It was also really nice seeing Barbara as a tycoon and baby Barbara who looked a little too young to be 10 but still with a sense of justice that makes her a future Batgirl. We also caught up with all the villains and it kinda makes sense that they were all in jail or imprisoned so that they're starting fresh with Batman too. Even Jeremiah is fine and hilariously he killed Ecco (cause he needs Harleen in the future.) Overall it was a pretty uplifting finale and totally makes me want the adult version of this show which I suppose is the point cause though it's the end of this show, it's only the start to Gotham's Dark Knight.

Fruits Basket (2019) Season 1 Episode 4

This episode was Kagura's introduction and honestly I was pretty meh about the whole thing cause I've never really liked Kagura as a character back in the 2001 version and I didn't have high hopes for this version either. To my complete lack of surprise, Kagura was just as abusive and clingy as I remembered her to be tbh and it was a pain to sit through this episode. Kyo's always been my favorite of the zodiacs and I definitely shipped him with Tohru but my dislike of Kagura has less to do with her getting in the way of my ship than the way she's portrayed to be this pain in Kyo's ass that everyone thinks is cute. Like I know it's an anime and everything but violence isn't a good thing and the fact that Kagura makes Kyo so uncomfortable and the fact that she hurts him when he doesn't do what she wants just doesn't sit right with me especially since everyone is just like marry her Kyo, she loves you! Despite that as always the animation for her boar form was so cute though. Of course my favorite scene of the episode has to be the one on the rooftop where Kyo opened up to Tohru about his love of martial arts cause duh but I still think it's too early for either of the two to catch any real feelings.

Next week seems to be the episode where Tohru's grandfather tells her to return home only for Tohru to decide to stay with the Sohmas instead.

Gotham Season 5 Episode 1 Review

What an intense premiere! Gotham has always been one of my favorite shows on tv and I was super pumped for it to be back and honestly after watching this episode, I'm just so sad that this will be our last season! It always surprises me that more people don't love this show cause as long as you let your brain shut down a bit and enjoy the show for what it is without harping on Batman lore, you'll love it! As per usual, I'm going to break up this per storyline.

First let's start with the stuff that broke my heart the most and that was Selina and Bruce. I really thought last season that Bruce was leaving Selina to stay in Gotham despite her wishes for him to stay by her side which is why I was a little worried going into this episode (since you know how much I adore these two.) To my surprise it turned out that Selina and Alfred and Bruce all stayed in Gotham and I loved loved loved how much Bruce worried about her all episode. It was heartbreaking seeing how much Selina was in pain and how she preferred to die than be paralyzed and how Bruce tried everything to help her from being there emotionally and physically to even risking everything to fly in medicine for her. I loved that he ended up deciding to go visit that witch in the end cause of how desperate he was and how he wanted nothing more than her for to be okay. I also loved that he had no problem talking about Selina and how worried he was for her with Jim. It was also sad seeing Selina blame Bruce for what happened but I'm sure that was just the pain talking and that once she regains her ability to walk that she'll apologize for her mean words.

I kind of love that Gotham has been broken up into multiple sections all of which are ruled by different people: The GCPD, Barbara and Tabby, Scarecrow (which who the hell cares about ugh), and Penguin. I loved the weird world we're in where the US has basically decided to give zero shits about Gotham and let everyone die and that everyone's fighting for food cause there are shortages. Jim and Harvey and Lucius spent most of the episode feeding the poor and trying to keep a sense of balance and law in the city despite everything and it was really funny that everyone was thanking Jim for the Wayne chopper bringing food when it was actually Bruce who did it. I also love that Jim has basically accepted that Bruce is a member of the GCPD at least while this whole No Man's Land thing is going on! I'm curious about where the season will go with this whole thing cause the end has to be when the government eventually steps in and rights the wrongs right?

Riddler didn't have much to do in tonight's episode and I spent most of that time wondering where Lee was and whether she really was dead. I know she tried to kill him last season and he tried to kill her but I don't remember how it ended. He seems to be fighting Ed again but it would be so funny if he wasn't actually fighting his other personality but someone was messing with him by moving his sleeping body around though I can't think of anyone who would do that right now since he's so apart from the rest of the cast.

I almost completely forgot that Butch died last season by the hands of Penguin who wanted to punish Tabitha for killing his mom back in like season 1 or 2 but once I did, I remembered how heartbroken I was. It was even worse seeing Tabby try to get revenge for poor Butch only to have her gun misfire and Penguin murder her. I actually screamed out loud just like Barbara cause I really didn't expect her to die so quickly like that especially since no one really dies on Gotham! I loved Tabby and I'm sorry to see her go. I am 100% on board with Barbara's revenge scheme cause even though Penguin is such a fun villain, he's done the most horrible things and I can't see Barbara being murdered this season though maybe if she does die and in a way that protects or helps Jim then maybe it would make sense for him to name his future daughter after her.

No Jeremiah tonight but we did get a hint of our future Harley! I totally forgot she was cast this season and I can't wait to see what happens!

Top 10 TV Shows of 2018

Hi everyone! As promised, I'm back with my Top 10 Favorite TV Shows of 2018! Again, this list is based on my personal opinions and may have spoilers. There was a lot of great TV out this year so I'm going to start with some honorable mentions which has some shows that I binged this year but have ended and some shows that are still on air but that just missed the top 10 list! If you want a refresher, check out my Top 10 TV Shows of 2013, my Top 10 TV Shows of 2014, and my Top 10 TV Shows of 2015, Top 10 TV Shows of 2016 and Top 10 TV Shows of 2017 lists! Fair warning, there may be spoilers below so keep that in mind!

Up first are my honorable mentions: two shows that I loved but got cancelled!

Iron Fist

My first honorable mention is Iron Fist! The second season aired this summer and though I enjoyed season 1 more than most people did, I still wasn't the biggest fan of it. Season 2 however was everything and after the way it ended, I was really disappointed it got cancelled! Danny Rand is still the least interesting of the Marvel Netflix leads but his relationship with Colleen is the best Marvel Netflix romance and I adore all of the characters on this show from Ward who went from pain in the ass last season to one of my favorite characters this time to Davos who is a totally understandable villain to Colleen who is the most kickass and smart women on the show! I loved diving into the mythology of the Iron Fist more this season and I was really excited to learn more about Colleen's family and what happened to Danny that he got the Fist back. Unfortunately all those questions will never be answered unless you're into the comics.... Click here to see my season 1 review!

Daredevil

My second honorable mention is another Marvel Netflix show that got cancelled this year and that's Daredevil! This one hurt more that Iron Fist cause Daredevil has always been my favorite of the Marvel Netflix shows and season 3 was great! I really loved the return to basics this season with Matt fighting Fisk again and the reconciliation of Matt, Karen and Foggy who are the core of this show. Foggy especially started to finally feel like a real lawyer with how smart his dialogue was and Karen was really fleshed out this season. I really enjoyed the episode in which we went back to learn about her past. I also loved the addition of Maggie as Matt's mom and Ray as the FBI agent who really lost out this season. The idea of Matt struggling with his faith and wondering what it was all for after everything he loss (cough Elektra cough) was everything and the ending of this season did have more of a bow on it than Iron Fist did but I'm still going to miss it. I also didn't love how we'll never get an answer to what happened to Elektra because not only do I love her as a character and as a love interest to Matt, her fate was left in the air! Click here to see some YouTube videos of them!

And now let's get into our Top 10!

Vikings

Coming in at number 10 is Vikings! Now I've been consistently watching this show since 2014 but other than in 2014 I haven't really had this show on my list cause unfortunately unlike most shows I watch, Vikings's strongest season was season 1 in my opinion and it's been consistently going downhill from there. After Ragnar died in season 4 and the show became about his sons, there was a fresh feel to this show which did reinvest my interest and I have been pretty into season 5 so far cause I've really enjoyed the war between brothers. I'm really into Ivar as a villain though he seems to be losing his mind more recently and Alfred as a king who's really coming into his own and Heahmund as this antihero who looks out for himself but also really loves Lagertha (or so it seems cause he's so hard to read.) Unfortunately Lagertha and Bjorn have been shuffled off to the side it feels cause neither have had anything really to do other than sleep with others which is annoying cause they've been my favorites for a while now! Here's hoping we'll get more later this season which is currently airing! Click here to see some YouTube videos.

The Flash

At number 9 is The Flash! This show has never been my favorite of the Arrowverse cause I'm not a huge Barry Allen fan but my enjoyment of the show goes up and down. Last season was pretty good but I was really annoyed with how much screen-time Ralph Dibny got cause he was the worst but I really enjoyed Thinker as a villain. This season I've been kind of on the fence about how I feel cause though I've definitely enjoyed Ralph a lot more who went from this creep to a more comedic and kind character, I haven't really been a fan of the villain this year even if I like the idea of him being able to take away meta powers. I was also pretty into the idea of Nora coming back from the future but as the episodes went on she started to get less fun and more annoying and the show suddenly became The Westallen Family Starring The Flash show. I do suppose the more you enjoy them the more you'd enjoy this season but I've never been a huge fan of Iris and Barry so I'm pretty meh about it. The Flash will be back January 15th on CW! Click here to see more in-depth reviews and here to see YouTube videos!

Shadowhunters

Coming in at number 8 is Shadowhunters! I've always been a huge fan of the City of Bones book series and so I've always wanted to love the adaptations of the books whether that's the movie or this show and though season 1 of this show was real bad, season 2 was much better and so far season 3 hasn't been half bad! City of Fallen Angels was adapted for the first half and I assume since the show was cancelled that the rest of season 3 will be mostly City of Heavenly Fire with a touch of City of Lost Souls. I can't wait to see how this will be adapted though I have less of a stake in it since the first three books are my favorites which could mean that I'll enjoy the season more. I've been loving the way Jace and Clary's relationship has played out so far as well as the strong bond between the Lightwoods and Jace so I hope we get more of that not to mention Alec and Magnus! I wonder if the show will end Simon's arc the way it did in the books and I feel like we might get a hint of him and Izzy since there hasn't been enough legwork done to actually get them together now when we get back February 25th on Freeform! Click here to see some YouTube videos.

Gotham

At number 7 is Gotham! This is another one of those shows that have never gotten to be on my top 10 list before but I've been watching since it first aired back in 2014! The first season was rough but once the show gotten into it's second season and embraced the craziness that is the Batman Rogue's Gallery, the show picked up and has been so much ever since! We're about to go into it's final season and I'm sad cause I've enjoyed this show so much. I love all the characters (both the villains and the heroes) and the plot each season and how each season the city gets crazier and crazier showing us why the GCPD isn't enough and why we need someone like Batman! Baby Bruce is everything and I love his dynamic with Baby Selina and their relationship is super precious and very back and forth like Batman/Catwoman is. Lee and Jim are great too and I love that they'll always love each other more than anyone else even if they're not together. I've loved how last season the Sirens have taken over one part of the city, Lee and Riddler another and Penguin was off on his own and I can't wait to see what No Man's Land in Gotham looks like when it returns January 3rd on FOX. Click here to see some YouTube videos and here to see longer reviews!

Agents Of SHIELD

Coming in at number 6 is Agents Of SHIELD! What a surprise to see this show so low right? It's been either 1 or 2 for the past 4 years but I really wasn't a huge fan of season 5 and I personally felt the quality dropped a lot. There were episodes that stood as being really fun specifically the Fitz and Hunter escapade on Earth. I think a lot of it was because Fitz has always been my favorite character on the show and this past season they pretty much made him a monster by telling us that Framework Fitz was just another part of Fitz and I really didn't like how they broke up the Bus Kids (aka Daisy/Skye, Fitz and Simmons) but I could have gotten past this if the story was better but after the first half in space, the second half was just not great in my opinion cause I really didn't care about Ruby and I was pretty disappointed in their 100th episode. I am super curious about what season 6 will look like with Coulson leaving the show and I'm still waiting for at least Hunter to come back cause Bobbi is busy on another show! Agents of SHIELD will be back in July on ABC! Anyway click here to see some YouTube videos and here to see longer reviews!

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

At number 5 is The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina! This is a new show both on my top 10 list and in actuality. I loved the Sabrina the Teenage Witch show when I was younger and I'm really into Riverdale so I was excited to see what this show would do and I found that I loved this show so much! It was crazy in a fun way and dark in a wow is this okay kind of way? I loved how witches were portrayed in this show as basically the version that sold their souls to Satan to get their powers but it was done in a way where it didn't feel like a huge immoral thing as it probably should be. I loved that the plot of season 1 was that Sabrina wasn't sure if she wanted to give her soul to Satan and that the villain was so cunning and manipulative that she sort of convinced Sabrina that it was ultimately her idea to do so. I loved all the members of the Spellman family including the new addition of Ambrose and though I didn't like Zelda at first, she was so protective of Sabrina that I couldn't help but grow to love her too. Sabrina's relationship with Harvey was so sweet and Ross Lynch's Harvey was one of the most loving and supportive boyfriends I've ever seen on tv! The only downside of this show was Sabrina's two girl friends who I thought were super annoying and could have done without!

Riverdale

Coming in at number 4 is Riverdale! This is one of my favorite shows on air and it's one that you need to watch with your brain turned off. During season 2 I started to realize how insane the plots were and how none of the characters or their parents acted like they were in high school and once I noticed that I was able to turn off the part of my brain that was like 'that makes no sense' and just enjoy the crazy ride. Betty and Jughead are still my favorite characters and their relationship is still the best on the show. Archie is a moron but once you decide that yes every decision he makes is in fact idiotic, it's much more enjoyable and Veronica is alright though I'm not a huge fan of her relationship with Archie cause I feel like they have no chemistry which is why a possible thing with Reggie is everything to me. I'm also not a huge fan of Cheryl but since she's not one of the core 4, we do see less of her. I'm not so into the Gargoyle King this season but I love Hiram being such a mob boss! Riverdale will be back January 16th on CW! Click here to see some YouTube videos and here to see longer reviews!

Arrow

At number 3 is Arrow! Of course this is in the top 5 of my top 10 list cause Arrow is my baby and no matter how bad it gets, I'm still along for the ride and trust me it got reeeeal bad the second half of season 6 but it's gotten much better during the first half of season 7. I really disliked the OTA v NTA fight last season because not only were both sides wrong but it didn't make anyone look good! I was exhausted being told every week that NTA didn't trust Oliver and they wouldn't go back so when that season ended, it was a breath of fresh air. I did of course love the marriage of Oliver and Felicity and the little family they made with William which was the only saving grace! Unfortunately while a lot was fixed this season, they got rid of William which is kinda sad! I have been enjoying this season so far cause as much as I didn't really care for Oliver in prison, I loved the refocus of the show on Oliver and Felicity as characters doing their own thing but going on similar journeys and the way Team Arrow was split up so everyone had something to do. I'm super into the idea of Oliver as the Green Arrow working with the police and I hope that Felicity gets to build Smoak Tech and Diggle, Lyla and ARGUS work on their own thing but end up leading back to whatever Oliver is working on! Arrow will be back January 21st on CW! Click here to see some YouTube videos and here to see longer reviews!

Legends Of Tomorrow

Coming in at number 2 is Legends Of Tomorrow! This is definitely my favorite of the Arrowverse shows because no matter how insane and kooky the show gets, the writing never falters, the characters never lose themselves and the plot is always exciting. I love how it showcases some of the best LGBTQ relationships on tv and how they're treated like any straight relationship. I love how strong and smart and independent the women are and how they are all such capable leaders. I love the dynamics between all the characters both on the Time Rider and in the Bureau! I love the crazy plans and the comedic writing and the magical creatures this season! Everything about this show is perfection and I really would be hard-pressed to find something I dislike about this show! I really loved Wally popping up last season but it's really unfortunate that he left the Arrowverse cause I felt like this show really allowed him to shine! I'm a huge fan of Zari and Sara and Constantine right now and the only person I don't really understand or need is Charlie but hopefully she'll grow on me when the show returns in April on CW! Click here to see some YouTube videos and here to see longer reviews!

The Magicians

And now my number 1 show of 2018 is The Magicians!! What a crazy jump from the number 8 spot it was in last year but what can I say? I adore this show! As you can probably guess based on this list, I've been waaay into shows that are insane and crazy this year cause they're so much fun to watch! I love how every new episode of this show is so unexpected and leads you to new places that you never would have guessed. It's like Harry Potter meets The Chronicles Of Narnia but with hilarious hijinks and a group of misfit characters who are trying their damndest but screw up every time. I love that sometimes the show digs down deep into dark themes like slavery and sexual assault but other times it has musical episodes and sloths giving love advice! It has everything you could possibly want in a show plus a wide range of diverse characters of different genders, races, personality and sexual preferences! I loved that last season was all about trying to get magic back after the crew screwed up and got magic turned off only to unleash a monster into the world and have their memories wiped! I'm super excited to get back into this world on January 23rd on Syfy! Click here to see some YouTube videos of them!

And with that another top 10 list has been concluded! I'll see you all tomorrow for my top 10 Asian dramas list and make sure you look back on my top 10 lists of previous years!!

Gotham Season 4 Episode 22 Review

Why is Gotham such an insane show?? So much craziness happens week by week and it's amazing cause as long as you pretend that Gotham takes place in an alternate universe and ignore normal Batman canon, this show is one of the most entertaining! Tonight's finale was amazing! So many possible deaths and changes to be had before what will be Gotham's final season next year and those changes could be felt in the last few minutes of the episode where the board was reset.

Poor Selina spent the whole episode in the hospital and it sounds like she's not going to be able to walk when she wakes up. I would be sad of this outcome if Gotham didn't have Strange lurking around the city. I mean why even bother going to a regular doctor when Strange can literally bring people back to life?? It was heartbreaking when Bruce chose to stay in Gotham instead of going with Selina to whatever hospital she went to next cause he promised he'd stay by her side until she got better and I love my baby BatCat but when she wakes up alone after this, she might be pissed beyond measure and that might be the end of BatCat at least for a little while (though regardless of what Batman does, Catwoman always comes back.) It is probably the most Batman Bruce has been in this show so far though cause Batman always places the city over anyone and everything and though I wish it weren't the case, this was pretty accurate on his part.

We also seem to have lost Butch (again) right after he was turned back to being human and had a sweet reunion with Tabitha. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time cause I just felt like something was off in my bones and though I didn't expect Penguin to kill him, I knew something terrible was about to happen. I completely forgot that Tabitha killed Penguin's mom but I guess it had to brought back right before the final season cause it was a dangling thread. I do have the feels in whatever showdown there will be, Penguin will come out on top cause he's much more of a Batman villain than Tabitha is. Honestly I don't want any of them to die! And poor Tabitha and Butch can never be happy! What are the chances that Butch is dead dead? And why didn't Tabitha turn to Strange and be like fix him cause we know he can!

Barbara spent most of the episode trying to kill Ra's with Tabitha, Alfred and Penguin and I loved it. As much fun as insane villains like the Mad Hatter and Jeremiah are, my heart will always belong to the sane ones like the Sirens and Penguin cause it's just more fun for me to see them plan out intricate schemes and care for the city. They don't want to destroy Gotham, they want to rule it! It was interesting to see where Barbara ended up at the end of the episode with her decision that all the problems they've been facing is due to men being and honestly it's the truth. I'll be interested to see where this goes next season and if she'll end up reconciling with Jim by the end of it cause at first I was like nah he'd never see her as not evil but now that Lee is basically a criminal now too, I can see Barbara and Jim returning to each other's sides but at the same time, Barbara may have outgrown Jim as well.

Speaking of Jim's exes, I was into Lee and Ed for a hot second but after how whiny Ed/Riddler was tonight, I'm over them. He's too insecure for me to enjoy and his whole thing with kidnapping Jim to kill him cause he was afraid Lee would go back to Jim was ridiculous and petty and after Ed was like Lee chose me, I wanted Jim to make some snarky comment like congratulations what do you want a cookie? I did like the final Lee and Jim scene cause it does show us that these two still love each other madly but like ships in the night, the timing is never right. Jim is busy saving Gotham and Lee is busy saving the people of the Narrows. And did anyone really believe that Lee would leave in the first place? I actually did think that after Lee and Ed killed each other that while Ed may die, Lee might find a way to fix herself but Penguin bringing them to Strange was more compelling. I'm curious why he bothered to bring Lee though cause I know he wants Ed to himself and Lee is an obstacle in that path unless he thinks that Ed would be pissed at Lee for killing him.

Ra's and Jeremiah's big plan was to blow up the bridges leading in and out of Gotham in the hopes that doing so would cause Bruce to realize just how much the city needed him and for him to put on the cowl. I was surprised that their plan went off but I'm excited about it cause it does lead to a new Gotham next season! It looks like half the GCPD is gone, all the criminals are dividing up land and new villains are popping up out of the woodwork. We even got a Bat Signal lite and though the reason Jim gave for turning it on was super cheesy, I was grinning cause how could I not?? It's the Bat Signal!

I can't wait until next season already and I hope the conclusion to this amazing show is satisfying which I'm sure it will be! I'll see you all then!

Gotham Season 4 Episode 12 Review

Gotham is finally back after such a long time off and it's kicking ass as always! So much happened in tonight's episode that I don't even know where to begin.

Let's start with the Ivy stuff. Ivy has been recast for the third time and I'm assuming that's cause the second actress couldn't make it back or had other work she was doing. I don't particularly mind cause this one seems to be more mature and I'm not sure if all those drugs are supposed to age her up but the second Ivy was really a child in a grown up's body but this Ivy seems to be mentally older as well based on what little we got of her tonight which could be super interesting. I'm also thrilled that Ivy 3.0 seems to have her Poison Ivy powers which by the by were horrifying to see close up on that dead guy's body. Something about seeing those plants growing on his dead body gave me goosebumps and I had to look away. Blood and gore is totally fine but this lol seems to be too much for me! It's been so long since we saw Ivy that I straight up forgot all her problems with the Sirens but I kind of like that she still loves Selina but I'm not sure how much I care to see Ivy ALSO want to rule Gotham. I feel like she wasn't really the take over the world kind of villain but it might be fun to see. I'm assuming that oil spill in the park will be on her line of sight no matter how quickly she changed the channel.

Speaking of Selina, I loved her thing with Bruce tonight though it was way too short for my taste. Drunk playboy Bruce is still giving my life but I can't tell if Bruce is actually drunk tonight or acting cause it seemed more like Bruce pretending to be a playboy again like he did early last season rather than Bruce actually being the playboy. Selina called him out for playing around too so I can see Bruce just acting. It was a little disappointing to see how exasperated Selina was with him cause it really seemed like she was over him being around and that's kind of sad cause I love them together and I didn't really want jealousy but I was hoping for a bit more of a passionate response. Maybe we'll see that in the future.

Speaking of disappointments, the show built up the suspense for Jim seeing Lee again but while it seemed like Jim was still into Lee, Lee seemed over him as well. It seems to be a theme that the ladies are moving onto bigger and better things while the men stay in the same place. I was also hoping for a bit more of an impact from their first meeting in a season but again I guess we'll build up to it. I did like how the Toymaker (RIP Toymaker you were gone too fast) was working on Riddler's orders but Nygma had no idea cause he's going through blackouts again. Lee and Jim discussing Nygma right in front of Nygma killed me too. I do also love the idea of Lee fixing the Narrows cause she's a badass.

I was not a huge fan of the Alfred storyline but I guess he needed something to do while he's away from Bruce. His bond with the waitress was a little out of nowhere but how pissed he got about her being abused and killed made complete sense and I love how he ended up with Bullock who saved his ass in the end. I missed Bullock too though I feel like he was a pain in my ass last season. It's been long enough that I'm just thrilled to see him again. What do we think? He'll be back on the force by the end of the season?

Next week's episode looks like Ivy will be attacking Bruce (for the park probably) and he'll be going on some sort of mental/emotional journey with Ivy's poison I'd say and the return of Jerome who we saw at the midseason finale but didn't appear this week (not that I noticed oops.) I wasn't too saddened we didn't see any of Jerome but Penguin was missed so I can't wait to see what happens next week!

Don't forget to check out my Arrow review later tonight!

Top 10 Midseason Finales (Winter 2017)

Hey guys! So the midseason finales have just aired for all the shows I watch and I decided to rank them based on my own personal preferences from 1 to 10 with 1 being the highest!

1) Legends of Tomorrow
2) The Flash
3) Arrow
4) Supergirl
5) Gotham
6) How To Get Away With Murder
7) Riverdale
8) The Gifted
9) The Orville
10) Once Upon a Time

Now for some housekeeping. Agents of SHIELD has been killing it so far this season but there's no midseason break so I didn't count it in this and though technically this was a finale and not a midseason finale for the Orville, I added it to the list cause I promise you I'll forget to add Orville to the spring finale list cause it'll be so far off.

That's all for now!

Gotham Season 4 Episode 11 Review

Guys what an insane episode of Gotham! It was literally like plot twist after plot twist after plot twist. Everyone was trying to out maneuver each other and it was a thrill to watch. I think the best thing about Gotham and perhaps the reason that it is still so loved is the villains and how they attempt to outwit each other. Overall it was a great midseason.

Let's start with Sophia and Penguin. Penguin apparently goes to tattle on Sophia to her father who believes like Jim that Sophia could never win and wants to take her home. I was really surprised to see Falcone and even more stunned when he got shot and I felt for Sophia though I loved that his death led to Victor changing sides. I knew this change of alliances was coming immediately when Victor was weird during the funeral and poor Penguin who will never understand that names mean something and no matter how big you get you are still new money. I don't know if I like the Sirens working Sophia cause she's a little insane but I'm sure they'll change sides again once they realize who she is. My favorite twist though is definitely the final one where she revealed that she did everything to get revenge on Jim for killing Mario and that she brought Pyg into the city. I straight up gasped. Props to you Sophia.

Harvey quit the GCPD and guys what a drama queen he is. Especially now that we know that Harvey and Jim both accidently got a bunch of cops killed and are in the same boat. The difference is that Jim will try to make up for his mistake while Harvey will stew in his guilt all broody-like. I hope they patch things up at some point this season cause I don't want this to be the end of Harvey or the Jim and Harvey bromance.

Speaking of bromance, my baby Bruce is still struggling and though I was so pumped to see him enter his playboy phase, with Alfred soooo against it, it kind of ruins the fun for me cause I don't want Alfred and Bruce on the outs. I can't actually believe the episode ended in Bruce firing Alfred and kicking him out. I kept waiting for Alfred to be like okay I'm going to pull out the big guns and go get Selina but maybe that's for the next half season? Ugh I miss Bruce and Selina moments. Also I know we're supposed to feel all the feels for this breakup but honestly I'm sure Bruce will snap out of it soon enough and they'll get back together even if Alfred is no longer Bruce's legal guardian especially since in this universe Alfred is his Ra's.

Ed is apparently in love with Lee and that makes me laugh so hard. Poor Ed. She's going to see Jim in a few episodes or so and it'll be like Ed who? But at the same time I kind of love this and I really wouldn't mind Lee and Ed cause if Jim can sleep with all sorts of villains, why can't Lee?

Sidebar, I loved Barbara's reaction to knowing that Jim and Sophia were sleeping together.

In the same vein of love, Grundy is now Butch again and I'm thrilled cause I love him and Tabitha and I died of laughter the whole time this storyline was going on. When Tabitha got ready to go and then was like I'm going to beat you until you're Butch made me laugh so hard. I adore their relationship though and I love that even while Butch was Grundy he still thought she was pretty. I can't wait to see him and Tabitha next half season when he's back to normal. I am curious though if this means that one more knock to the head will turn him back like in the ring cause if that's the case, I will be forever frightened of Butch getting hit.

Oh and we cannot forget the return of the one and only Jerome! I'm pumped he's back and with Penguin! Shit will go down next half season!

Overall this was a great episode and don't forget to keep an eye out for my Arrow review later tonight!

Gotham Season 4 Episode 1 Review

AND WE'RE BACK!!! Who's excited not only for the return of Gotham but also for the return of my tv show reviews?? Let's jump right into this amazing premiere episode!

So as you may or may not know, last season was very up and down for me cause there was stuff I enjoyed but all so much that I hated (ugh don't even get me started on how utterly terrible the Ra's Al Ghul stuff was) so despite an amazing Season 3 finale, Season 3 left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth and I was relieved that it was over and that a new season was beginning and now that I've seen this episode, I can feel a little better how season 3 and how much of last season was setting up for this season!

Penguin is ruling the damn world right now and I'm loving it. Straight up one of my favorite things about Gotham is how we get to follow the rise of all of our favorite characters so not only do we get the rise of Batman but the rise of Penguin and Catwoman and Jim. It's amazing. I loved how Penguin was giving out these licenses and basically legalizing crime and how he could do it just because the entire city of Gotham is so corrupt. Honestly watching this episode and the show in general just makes me wonder why people still live here! Remember in season 4 (?) of Arrow when everyone was just up and leaving Star City cause it was dangerous? I kind of would love if Gotham touched on that a little. I mean that wedding scene was a bit brutal though I loved the running joke of the cheap groom.

I was a little disappointed by the Iceburg Lounge cause I was hoping that we'd get more of a redecoration for the club as we've seen it every season and it's never much changed. I was hoping for more of an ice theme! I still love that Ivy and Zazz are Penguin's backup but I was a little confused about Ivy turning the lights off. Was that because she was pissed that Oswald told her to get out earlier when he was opening up to frozen Nygma?

The gang were throwaways and I didn't much care for them. The most interesting part of their story was the rise of Scarecrow. The way the gang was treating poor Crane was so heartbreaking and honestly they should have seen him turning on them coming. You can't treat a mentally ill person like garbage and then be surprised when shit hits the fan especially in Gotham.

Jim really didn't do too much tonight either other than a bit of pouting because Gotham now looks to Penguin instead of the GCPD to keep them safe. I just can't get past how utterly lazy the entire police department is. Whenever they get a choice, they take the easy way out and it just confuses me cause like why bother becoming a cop in that case? For four seasons now Jim keeps mentioning how there's good cops out there and I'm still sitting here like where are they? It seems like Jim and Harvey are the only two! I really hope that this season we'll see Jim finding more good cops á la season 2 and the Strike Force Barnes created. Can we take a moment to acknowledge Bruce being creepy with Jim before inviting him to dinner and then leaving abruptly Batman-style? I have to admit I snorted.

Bruce is out being Batman-lite and it does not cease to amuse me when he appears on screen with his best Green Arrow outfit. No seriously, the hood and mask, so Green Arrow-esque. He does need to try to do a Batman voice or change his voice or something when he talks cause it really pulls me out of the scene when all I can think about is that this masked vigilante clearly has Bruce Wayne's voice. I was not a fan of his stuff with Ra's last season and I'm not looking forward to seeing more of it. I'm really just not a fan of how they did it because Bruce is supposed to want to be mentored by Ra's but how can he now that Ra's tried to make him kill one of the only people Bruce loves? Ugh.

Selina and Tabitha are off being best friends and I kept waiting for Barbara or Butch to appear. I wonder if Barbara will go back to being good when she wakes up cause though I love evil Barbara, I am always waiting for her switch back or something cause I don't understand why Jim would name his only child after her in this world if she's evil or he hates her. Also I am and simultaneously am not looking forward to the return of Butch cause storylines where the dead love of someone returns different always breaks my heart (sue me I'm a romantic) yet they are always so fascinating to watch!

Selina and Bruce are still one of the best things ever. I'm so glad they forgave each other in this episode cause I didn't want the show to drag this out. Did you all see Bruce giving his best smoulder to Selina and Selina's surprise at Bruce being Batman-extra lite when he climbed up on the ledge with her? Ugh I love them. They play the perfect back-and-forth that you see between Batman and Catwoman with just the perfect amount of chemistry. Oh and in case you were curious, I also snorted when Alfred found them and was all why can't the two of you go to the movies or something instead of being this weird together?

Next week we'll be getting a better Batman-lite costume for Bruce and props to the show for Lucius Fox being the one to give it to Bruce though I am curious to see what leads to this. We also see more Scarecrow which should be fun. Does Jim even have any more fears after all that he's been through lol?

That's all for now!

xoxo Allie

PS. Though I love this show for how wacky it is, I do not believe I will do reviews every week especially when the Arrowverse shows return. I might just do like I do for Legends of Tomorrow in that I review the season premiere, midseason premiere and finale and season finale!!
