Top 10 TV Shows of 2014

Hey hey!!! I'm back with my top ten favorite tv shows of 2014!! Now these are all opinions so if you don't agree with them, sound off in the comments below. This may contain spoilers!!! Also don't forget to check out my Top 10 TV Shows of 2013 list!

First of, I want to start off with honorable mentions. These shows are shows that I binge-watched in 2014 and loved but no longer air so they aren't on my top 10 list!

BBC Merlin

First up is the BBC version of Merlin which was cancelled a while back haha but I finally got around to watching it thanks to my younger brother!! I've always loved the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and as you know, I thought this was probably the best tv adaption of the legend I've ever seen!! I loved the bromance between Merlin and Arthur and how evil Morgana was!! Gwen and Arthur had a ton of chemistry and I loved the magic plots. My only complaints with this show would have been the fact that it wasn't serialized and that it had a "big bad" of the week. As you probably know, I'm not a huge fan of stand-on-their-own weekly episodes. I also wish that Arthur would have been crowned king earlier than he was and that the show hadn't been cancelled when it was. Click here to see all my Merlin posts!

Witches of East End

Next up on my honorary mentions is Witches of East End!! If you remember, this show was on my top 10 of 2013 list and normally this would be on my top 10 of 2014 list too but unfortunately Witches of East End was cancelled recently. The cancellation was very annoying as I really enjoyed this show and I really hate when shows end without all the storylines wrapped up. The second season was not as great as the first but it was still amazing! I loved Frederick and King Gramps appearing and how morally ambiguous Freddie was throughout the season because as you know, I think the characters that live in the grey area are the most interesting!! The chemistry between Freya and Killian was killer and I was so looking forward to Dash going full-on evil! This show had some of the strongest female characters I've ever seen and I loved how the Beauchamp family was at the forefront of the show unlike most others where family takes a backseat to romance. It will be missed.... Click here to see all my Witches of East End posts!

Now onto my top 10!!!!!

The Night Shift

Coming in at number 10 is.... The Night Shift!!! I'm usually not into shows like this. I prefer those in the genre of supernatural/dystopian or period dramas or superhero shows so this fun summer show caught me off guard with how much I actually enjoyed it! The characters were relatable, the medical plots were fun and the chemistry between TC and Jordan was amazing! Even Krista and Landry grew on me because if you remember when I wrote my initial review of the show, I wasn't a huge fan of them. And if that's not enough, Eoin Macken aka Gwaine from Merlin is the the main character and does a fantastic American accent! Season 2 is airing in February and I'm very excited. Click here to see all my Night Shift posts!

Vikings

Number 9 is.... Vikings!!! Surprising right? Now I had not known anything about this show when I first checked it out other than the fact that it followed a family of Vikings but I decided to watch it because after Outlander ended and I finished watching the Musketeers, I was aching for a new period drama. I heard plenty of good things about this show so I jumped into the show headfirst and I found that I did end up enjoying it. The characters were all 3-dimensional and interesting. Their arcs were all fascinating and I do not think that there is a single character on the show that did not evolve whether that evolution was good or bad. This show had one of the best brotherly relationships I've ever seen and the females of the show can definitely hold their own! The only complaint I have about Vikings has to be that it started to get a little boring towards the middle of season 2 but that was quickly resolved. I also didn't enjoy how Ragnar set aside Lagertha just because he wanted more sons but I loved how she went on to become a Earl! Season 3 will be airing in February and I'm excited! Click here to see all my Vikings posts!

The Musketeers

At number 8 is.... The Musketeers!!! What to say about this show.... Simply put, I loved every single moment. I loved the theme song of the show, I loved all the characters, I loved the plot for each episode and I loved all the romances! Although this show took a procedural route, I barely noticed it because of how well written and how connected each episode was to each other. I've always enjoyed the story of the Three Musketeers and although much of this first season followed the normal story of the Musketeers, I still enjoyed it and I can't wait to see where the show goes now! I loved the bromance between the Musketeers and the fight scenes on the show were epic! And if that's not enough, Santiago Cabrera aka Lancelot from Merlin plays Aramis!! Season 2 will be airing in January!!! Click here to see all my Musketeers posts!

Black Sails

Coming in at number 7 is.... Black Sails!!! You knew this was coming after how I talked about how much I liked it in my review and let me tell you, Black Sails was one of my favorite summer shows!! There were so many characters on this show that many should have been underdeveloped or forgotten about but Black Sails was amazing at building each character enough so that you care about each one. I know there were a lot of complaints about the show being "slow" for a pirate show but I loved the slow pace because by allowing you to get to know each character, there will be more at stake once the fighting and real drama happens. I loved each episode and that many of the characters were pirates in real life! The scenery was fantastically made and the politics of the show is so interesting! On top of all this, Tom Hopper aka Percival from Merlin and Jessica Parker Kennedy aka Melissa from The Secret Circle play Bones and Max respectively. Click here to see all my Black Sails posts!

Outlander

Number 6 is.... Outlander!!! Yes yes another period drama but what can I say? 2014 was chock full of fantastic ones!! Outlander was another one of these. Although I have never read the books, the show was highly enjoyable! Between time travel, kilts and the chemistry between Claire and Jamie this show had it all!! I loved every single one of the characters on this show from the villains to the heroes! Claire is such a smart and strong female lead and Jamie is the sweetest man I have ever seen on screen. I loved the slow acceptance of Claire into the Mckenzie clan and how quickly Claire accepted her situation because I would have been so annoyed if it took her several episodes to get out of denial! Their wedding was amazing and that episode has to be one of my favorites. Black Jack Randall is a terrifying villain and it's amazing how Tobias Menzies is able to contrast Black Jack with Frank!! The scenery is incredible and I cannot wait until March when the second half of season 1 airs!! Click here to check out all my Outlander posts!

The Flash

At number 5 is... The Flash!!! You had to have known this show was going to be on my list!! Superheroes hold my heart and I've accepted it. This show was incredible and such a different take on the genre. The Flash doesn't take itself too seriously and it's much more lighthearted than most superhero shows and movies recently! I love all of the characters and how the show keeps you on your toes by hinting at comic book characters but not telling you who they are! The chemistry between Iris and Barry is incredible and so is the chemistry between Caitlin and Ronnie! Cisco is hilarious and Joe is a great father figure. I love that the big bad of the season is the Reverse Flash!! Way to pull out the big guns early! The Rogue's gallery is great and one of my only complaints would be that I wish the show would drop the procedural element and focus on a serialized format. Barry learns lessons each week but they never seem to stick. Throughout this first half of the season, every character I was iffy about in the pilot, I now love!! Season 1 returns in January! Click here to see all my Flash posts!

The 100

Coming in at number 4 is...... The 100!! Although I loved season 1 of this show, season 2 has amped up everything that made this show incredible and here we are at number 4 on my list!! The 100 is a post-apocalyptic show that follows the survivors of a nuclear apocalypse and it pulls no punches when it comes to killing off characters! This show has some of the absolute best written women I have ever seen and unlike what Witches of East End did, the men are amazing and strong too. All of the characters have evolved so much from the pilot and the war between the Grounders and the 100 and Mount Weather is one of the best storylines I've seen on tv. The show gets very dark sometimes and one the best parts is that no one on the show is inherently good or bad. Everyone has multiple layers. The scenery is amazing and the cliffhangers really leave you wanting more! Unfortunately it's not doing so well in ratings and it will be heartbreaking if the show is cancelled... Season 2 returns in January! Click here to see all my 100 posts.

Once Upon A Time

Number 3 is.... Once Upon a Time!!! I love love love this show! At first I was hesitant to watch it because I was worried that the show might make fun of fairy tales but I quickly realized that wasn't true. Although the second half of season 3 and the first half of season 4 weren't the best, this show is incredible. I love all the characters (although Rumpelstiltskin, Hook and Belle are my favorites) and I loved most of the villains (Peter Pan was my favorite although Cora was amazing too). The evolution of the characters are very well written from Regina and Hook's redemption to Emma's acceptance of her life and her family. The romances between Hook and Emma, Rumple and Belle, Snow and Charming and Regina and Robin Hood are amazing as well as the chemistry between all of these pairs. I really enjoy going into a new world each half season and seeing what kind of spin the show puts on these classics. The love between the Charming family is one of the best parts of this show. Although sometimes the show looses track of characters due to the large amount of them, it does pretty well! Season 4 returns in March!! Click here to see all my Once Upon a Time posts!

Agents Of SHIELD

At number 2 is.... Agents of SHIELD!!! I don't have enough words to describe how great of a show this is. Despite what most people said, I loved loved loved the first half of season 1 and I loved getting to know each character. I also liked the procedural elements of the show but once the second half of the season 1 came around, it became serialized and the show became ten times better! It took so many risks and even made one of the team members a sleeper agent!! The fight against Hydra became a major plot point and I ended each episode wanting more. Season 2 became even better and honestly I am always in awe at how every time I think this show can't get any more amazing, it does. Each and every character has a special place in my heart and the fact that inhumans have been introduced into the show makes me so excited! I really enjoy that although there are romantic elements in the show, they take a backseat to the action. The fight scenes are one of the best parts of the show and not a single character remains underdeveloped. The second half of season 2 comes back in March and I can't wait! Click here to see all my Agents of SHIELD posts!

Arrow

And number 1 is.... Arrow!! Arrow is probably the most amazing show I have ever watched. It has literally everything in it from action to romance to great characters to amazing storylines to epic villains!! The fight scenes of this show are so well choreographed and executed. The chemistry between Felicity and Oliver leaps off the tv screen and sizzles and the friendship between Team Arrow is so incredible that they really act like one big family. A lot of the characters have evolved so much that they're leaps and bounds from where they originally were. The storylines keep you on the edge of your seat and the villains are the absolute best. You can't help but love to hate them! The show pulls no punches and the cliffhangers leave you wanting more. It doesn't back away from the comic books but embraces them. Lazarus Pit anyone? And the costumes! Have you ever seen superheroes look so badass from Arrow to Arsenal to Canary to Ra's Al Ghul!! Season 1 was a little slow but season 2 was amazing and season 3 is even better! Arrow was the show that opened the silver screen to other superhero shows and it made me embrace my DC side!! Season 3 returns in January! Click here to see all my Arrow posts!

And with that, my list of top 10 favorite tv shows is complete. Do you agree? Do you disagree? What are your top 10 shows of 2014? I hope you all had a wonderful 2014 and here's to 2015 being great as well!

Top 10 TV Shows of 2013

Hey hey!!! I'm back with my top ten favorite tv shows of 2013!! Now these are all opinions so if you don't agree with them, sound off in the comments below. This may contain spoilers!!!

Coming in at number 10 is.... Ravenswood!!!

Ravenswood is a new tv show that has just come out in the Fall of 2013. It's a show that I really didn't think I would check out but it premiered after the fall Pretty Little Liars special so I figured I'd check it out. Honestly I like the show but it's not one of my favorites. I watch it on Hulu when I have time. Obviously I love Caleb and I really like Miranda. The others... I'm not a huge fan of them. I think Luke is super annoying and he's one of those characters that wants to ignore everything that's going on. Olivia just rubs me the wrong way and Remy is alright sometimes but she lets Luke control too much of her life. The only reason I'm still watching this show is because I am interested in the whole curse and I want to see how Miranda and Caleb end up together now that Miranda is dead.

Number 9 is.... Twisted!!!

When Twisted trailers first played on ABC Family, I was intrigued. The storyline seemed very interesting and I knew Avan Jogia from Victorious so I checked it out. The show was very interesting in the beginning. I loved Danny and Jo from the first episode and Lacey and Rico grew on me. All the characters were interesting people to get to know including the parents who in teen shows are usually barely in it or are the antagonists but in Twisted had just the same amount of secrets as the kids. As the season progressed, though, nothing new happened. Every episode consisted of the same problems and nothing was solved so I slowly began to lose interest. I originally shipped Danny and Jo but as the season progressed I didn't really care too much. The midseason finale however was really good and it recaptured my attention which is why Twisted comes in at number 9! Click here to see all my Twisted posts!

Number 8 is .... Melissa and Joey!!!

Melissa and Joey is a show that is completely different from all of the other shows I enjoy. Normally I'm a huge drama and supernatural tv show lover and comedies sometimes get boring. I enjoy when a show has a storyline that continues in each episode and comedies usually hint at the same storyline but most of the time, each episode is a standalone. However, once in a while a comedy catches my attention and Melissa and Joey is that comedy. The characters are fun to watch and the one-liners are hilarious. The show is not cheesy or over-the-top but just perfect. I really got hooked after the season finale when Melissa and Joey finally hooked-up and I want to see where this storyline goes!

Number 7 is ... Witches of East End

I talked about this show during my fall 2013 tv line-up and at that time I said that Witches of East End would slowly grow on me and let me say, that is completely true!!! I love this show!!! I love every character on this show except for the villains of course and Dash. I love the story-lines! The spells! The drama! I had been waiting since episode one for Freya to chose Killian and she finally did in the season finale! I can't wait until the new season arrives! I loved the season finale with the door to Asgard opening and the twist where Dash and Killian get their magic back and Dash hurts Killian!! I'm excited to see where this goes. Click here for all my Witches of East End posts.

Number 6 is ... The Vampire Diaries

I bet you're surprised to see this show so low on the list of my favorite shows. After all I did a raving post at the end of summer on how much I was addicted to TVD. The truth is.... after the Originals left the cast, the show just dropped for me. Not only were my favorite characters gone, but the storyline just got a lot more boring. I mean I really enjoyed the Silas angle but this new Augustine society thing just got a little boring. Elena, for some reason, is driving me up a wall and she is the main focus of every episode. The show is reverting back to season 1 for me. Like the entire focus is on the love triangle. Matt is barely there. Jeremy and Bonnie are only in a few episodes. Caroline doesn't even appear in half the episodes and if she does, it's only to throw a party. She wasn't even on the mid-season finale!!! But it's still high up on my list because I binge-watched every episode of TVD and I really enjoyed it up to this fall. Click here to see all my Vampire Diaries posts.

Number 5 is ... Pretty Little Liars!!!

When this show first came out, I was in love with it! It was super interesting and I had never seen anything like this. I even tried to read the books but that was a joke and I regretted it. Season 1 and 2 were incredible, season 3 was good but season 4 is kind of dragging. I didn't really like the story lines that were being used. Soon enough it was replaced with some new shows that seemed better to me. Just recently though, it started to get more interesting. Ali is still alive and Ezra is A? They suddenly got my attention again!

Number 4 is .... The Fosters!!!

This is another new show that came out this summer and I'm sure you expected it to be on my list! I loved the idea of the Fosters and although the show started out slow, it got much much better! I love Callie and Brandon and Stef and Lena and Jesus and Wyatt! The characters have so many layers and the story-lines are full of drama but fun to watch. At one point in the season, Stef was shot by Jesus and Mariana's biological mom and was in the hospital. I was on the edge of my seat!!! The midseason finale ended with Callie and Brandon finally kissing and Callie running away with Wyatt. The show's incredible! The drama! The suspense! The family! The romance! It has everything I like in a show! Click here to see all my Fosters posts.

Number 3 is.... Agents of Shield!!!

I love love love this show as you all probs know. I seriously love this show. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know how much I would love these new agents after getting to know some of them in the Avengers but Marvel definitely knows how to make a great show. The show is full of drama yet is funny to watch. All of the characters are all multi-dimensional and lovable. The most recent episode was incredible and kept me on the edge of my seat! I couldn't believe the ending! The story-lines are interesting and although each episode has a separate story, there is still an overarching story-line and they still mention what happened in previous episodes! Click here to see all my Agents of SHIELD posts!

Coming in at number 2 is.... Reign!!!

Sigh. What can I say about Reign that describes exactly how much I loooove this show? The characters! The idea of the show! The creativity! The CHARACTERS! The show is super creative. I love period pieces so when I heard of this show, I was super pumped for it. And when I watched it, I was not disappointed. The first episode was kind of dull but it picked up and flew off!!!! From seeing how royals act to the romance between Francis and Mary to the friendship between Mary and ladies to the affair Kenna is having with the king. I love every bit of it. It is having trouble with ratings but I don't know why! In just the midseason finale, one of Mary's ladies died, Diane and Bash were run out of the castle and Mary learns of the prophecy!!! If you don't watch this show, you're missing so much! Click here to see all my Reign posts!

And as probably expected, number 1 is... The Originals!!!

Sorry. This is a copout. There was no competition as to who was number one!!! I've already ranted and raved at how much I love this show and Klaus. So here we go again! I love the theme of this show. I love that the show is not all about the romance yet still is interesting. I love Klaus and Rebekah and Marcel!! The bromance between Marcel and Klaus is seriously epic. I also love seeing the different sides of Klaus. But another thing I love is the fighting and scheming in this show. When Klaus was trying to overthrow Marcel, his plans were so in depth and multi-staged that it was awesome! I love seeing the relationships grow in this show and can't wait for the next half of the season. Click here to see all my Originals posts!

And that's all for today's post!! Hope you enjoyed my list but if you don't agree with the placement of a show, sound off in the comments!! Thanks so much.

Fall 2013 New Shows

Hey all!!! So this is going to be my thoughts on the Fall 2013 TV line-up. A bunch of new shows have aired and because of this, I figured I'd let you all know my feelings on them. Now, these are just my opinions and my no means does my saying yes or no to the show mean that you may or may not like the show. You always want to give a new show an episode or two before you turn it down!

Okay so first up is the Originals on the CW! Regardless of whether you watched the Vampire Diaries or not, you can follow the show. It follows a family of vampires called the Mikaelsons who were the original vampires. Klaus is a hybrid, half werewolf and half vampire. He, along with his older brother Elijah and younger sister Rebekah wants to take down Klaus's old protégé, Marcel, who is now in charge of New Orleans, the city that the Mikaelsons originally built. They had left the city after being chased away by their father Mikael, a vampire hunter, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. Now Klaus has returned after many years and he wants to become the king of the city. So if you like the supernatural and covert politics, this might be the show for you! The core theme of this show is family unlike the Vampire Diaries whose core theme was a romantic triangle. Oh and one last thing, you have to get past the pilot of this show before you'll like the Originals as the pilot pretty much sucks. I'd even watch the backdoor pilot that was a Vampire Dairies episode and skip the actual pilot.

Now onto my thoughts! If you haven't seen the first two episodes of the show, skip to the next paragraph. I loved the Originals in the Vampire Dairies so I decided to give this show a shot even though I hated Hayley and her baby. And so far, I'm really liking the show. I like the thought behind the show and I definitely like that Klaus does not have a love interest yet! My Klaroline heart isn't able to handle that yet. I love all the interactions between the siblings and Hayley is growing on me. I really feel for Klaus after learning about his relationship with Marcel as the last episode showed. All the relationships are so complex and twisted and I'm falling in love with Klaus even more! I'm definitely going to be watching!

The next show that is new this fall is.... Marvel: Agents of Shield on ABC! Basically the show is about the agents of Shield handling weird cases. Agent Coulson is back after the Avengers and he's created a new team which is made up of a mish-mash of agents and they need to learn how to work together. The main character is a woman names Skye who was a hacker that hated Shield originally but now is a part of the team. If you like shows about spies and secret agents, you'll definitely love this show! Each episode is about a new case with the overarching storyline of the agents learning how to work together and teaching Skye about the innerworkings of Shield.

Now, my thoughts! You don't have to skip this section because there aren't any spoilers here. I seriously love this show. I was a bit hesitant because I didn't know how much I would love these new agents after getting to know some of them in the Avengers but Marvel definitely knows how to make a great show. The show is full of drama yet is funny to watch. Most of the characters are all multi-dimensional and lovable. I'm in love with Fitz and Simmons! They are sooo adorable and funny! I like Ward and obviously Coulson. Melinda is super badass and her character is slowly being revealed. It's taking me longer to like Skye because I feel protective of Shield and the fact that Skye seems so wishy-washy is bugging the shit out of me. Sometimes I like her, others I don't. My brother tells me I don't look at the big picture enough haha.... Anyway, I'm definitely going to be continuing to watch this show!!!

The next new show I started to watch was Once Upon a Time in Wonderland on ABC! The show follows Alice who is now grown up and placed in an asylum because everyone thinks she's crazy for believing in Wonderland and her doctors are trying to to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her because of the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever but deep down she knows this world is real. Just before the treatment occurs, the Knave of Hearts and the White Rabbit save her by telling her that Cyrus is alive. Alice is determined to find Cyrus while evading the plots of Jafar and the Red Queen.

My thoughts... I was excited to watch this show at first after seeing the trailers but .... after watching the pilot, I didn't like the show... First of all, I feel like since this show is a spinoff of Once Upon a Time, you need to watch that show in order to understand this one. I was pretty confused through 80% of the pilot and that was weird. Since it was a spinoff, you would think that the writers would explain the world but I guess they figured only loyal watchers would check it out. Secondly, the acting is pretty terrible. I was literally cringing through the pilot. I don't know if they wanted it that way but the actress that played Alice was sooo stoic and I can't stand when actors are always stoic. To me that does not show off their acting abilities. Anyone can sound like a robot. But the final and largest reason I decided against the show is that the show is too dark for me. Personally I found it extremely weird and not too entertaining. I will probably not be watching any more of this show but again, you should check it out before deciding for or against the show!

Next up is Witches of East End on Lifetime! This show is based on a book series with the same name but you don't have to read the books to understand the show. In fact, I think the writers of the show don't want you to read the books at all by the way they are holding back certain information! The show follows the Beauchamp women, a family of cursed witches. Freya, the main character and Ingrid, her older sister, did not know that they are witches until they are in trouble and their mother had no other choice but to tell them the truth. Along with them learning about their heritage, Freya is engaged to a man named Dash but meets his younger brother, Killian and she begins to have weird dreams about him.

Now onto my thoughts! I think I like this show. I'm not in love with it yet but I definitely think it will grow on me! I love Freya's mom and aunt and Killian! Killian is mega-hot and the chemistry between his and Freya is unbelievable! I don't really like Ingrid too much yet. She seems so hesitant and annoying because she doesn't really seem to want to except that she's a witch. I really don't like those kind of characters who try to pretend that nothing is going on when it totally is. Freya's fiancé is annoying too, like a Stefan-level annoying. He's kind of good-looking but he's a roadblock between Freya and Killian so I don't like him. [SPOILERS: I'm also waiting for when Killian and Dash are shown as the gods they were in the book. Dash is supposed to be the evil one while Killian is the one who has loved her. I think they did sort of hint at it when Killian mentioned in Freya's dream that he was happy to see Freya again but she's not even really there: END SPOILERS] I definitely will be continuing to watch this show.

And finally, Vampire Diaries has a new season as does this new show that I've fallen in love with called Arrow. Both shows are on the CW. I will also be looking forward to the premiere of Reign as I said in my last post! I still need to check out that new Dracula show as well as the Tomorow People, when I have time.

I hope you enjoyed this post on my new favs!
