Fall 2013 New Shows

Hey all!!! So this is going to be my thoughts on the Fall 2013 TV line-up. A bunch of new shows have aired and because of this, I figured I'd let you all know my feelings on them. Now, these are just my opinions and my no means does my saying yes or no to the show mean that you may or may not like the show. You always want to give a new show an episode or two before you turn it down!

Okay so first up is the Originals on the CW! Regardless of whether you watched the Vampire Diaries or not, you can follow the show. It follows a family of vampires called the Mikaelsons who were the original vampires. Klaus is a hybrid, half werewolf and half vampire. He, along with his older brother Elijah and younger sister Rebekah wants to take down Klaus's old protégé, Marcel, who is now in charge of New Orleans, the city that the Mikaelsons originally built. They had left the city after being chased away by their father Mikael, a vampire hunter, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. Now Klaus has returned after many years and he wants to become the king of the city. So if you like the supernatural and covert politics, this might be the show for you! The core theme of this show is family unlike the Vampire Diaries whose core theme was a romantic triangle. Oh and one last thing, you have to get past the pilot of this show before you'll like the Originals as the pilot pretty much sucks. I'd even watch the backdoor pilot that was a Vampire Dairies episode and skip the actual pilot.

Now onto my thoughts! If you haven't seen the first two episodes of the show, skip to the next paragraph. I loved the Originals in the Vampire Dairies so I decided to give this show a shot even though I hated Hayley and her baby. And so far, I'm really liking the show. I like the thought behind the show and I definitely like that Klaus does not have a love interest yet! My Klaroline heart isn't able to handle that yet. I love all the interactions between the siblings and Hayley is growing on me. I really feel for Klaus after learning about his relationship with Marcel as the last episode showed. All the relationships are so complex and twisted and I'm falling in love with Klaus even more! I'm definitely going to be watching!

The next show that is new this fall is.... Marvel: Agents of Shield on ABC! Basically the show is about the agents of Shield handling weird cases. Agent Coulson is back after the Avengers and he's created a new team which is made up of a mish-mash of agents and they need to learn how to work together. The main character is a woman names Skye who was a hacker that hated Shield originally but now is a part of the team. If you like shows about spies and secret agents, you'll definitely love this show! Each episode is about a new case with the overarching storyline of the agents learning how to work together and teaching Skye about the innerworkings of Shield.

Now, my thoughts! You don't have to skip this section because there aren't any spoilers here. I seriously love this show. I was a bit hesitant because I didn't know how much I would love these new agents after getting to know some of them in the Avengers but Marvel definitely knows how to make a great show. The show is full of drama yet is funny to watch. Most of the characters are all multi-dimensional and lovable. I'm in love with Fitz and Simmons! They are sooo adorable and funny! I like Ward and obviously Coulson. Melinda is super badass and her character is slowly being revealed. It's taking me longer to like Skye because I feel protective of Shield and the fact that Skye seems so wishy-washy is bugging the shit out of me. Sometimes I like her, others I don't. My brother tells me I don't look at the big picture enough haha.... Anyway, I'm definitely going to be continuing to watch this show!!!

The next new show I started to watch was Once Upon a Time in Wonderland on ABC! The show follows Alice who is now grown up and placed in an asylum because everyone thinks she's crazy for believing in Wonderland and her doctors are trying to to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her because of the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever but deep down she knows this world is real. Just before the treatment occurs, the Knave of Hearts and the White Rabbit save her by telling her that Cyrus is alive. Alice is determined to find Cyrus while evading the plots of Jafar and the Red Queen.

My thoughts... I was excited to watch this show at first after seeing the trailers but .... after watching the pilot, I didn't like the show... First of all, I feel like since this show is a spinoff of Once Upon a Time, you need to watch that show in order to understand this one. I was pretty confused through 80% of the pilot and that was weird. Since it was a spinoff, you would think that the writers would explain the world but I guess they figured only loyal watchers would check it out. Secondly, the acting is pretty terrible. I was literally cringing through the pilot. I don't know if they wanted it that way but the actress that played Alice was sooo stoic and I can't stand when actors are always stoic. To me that does not show off their acting abilities. Anyone can sound like a robot. But the final and largest reason I decided against the show is that the show is too dark for me. Personally I found it extremely weird and not too entertaining. I will probably not be watching any more of this show but again, you should check it out before deciding for or against the show!

Next up is Witches of East End on Lifetime! This show is based on a book series with the same name but you don't have to read the books to understand the show. In fact, I think the writers of the show don't want you to read the books at all by the way they are holding back certain information! The show follows the Beauchamp women, a family of cursed witches. Freya, the main character and Ingrid, her older sister, did not know that they are witches until they are in trouble and their mother had no other choice but to tell them the truth. Along with them learning about their heritage, Freya is engaged to a man named Dash but meets his younger brother, Killian and she begins to have weird dreams about him.

Now onto my thoughts! I think I like this show. I'm not in love with it yet but I definitely think it will grow on me! I love Freya's mom and aunt and Killian! Killian is mega-hot and the chemistry between his and Freya is unbelievable! I don't really like Ingrid too much yet. She seems so hesitant and annoying because she doesn't really seem to want to except that she's a witch. I really don't like those kind of characters who try to pretend that nothing is going on when it totally is. Freya's fiancé is annoying too, like a Stefan-level annoying. He's kind of good-looking but he's a roadblock between Freya and Killian so I don't like him. [SPOILERS: I'm also waiting for when Killian and Dash are shown as the gods they were in the book. Dash is supposed to be the evil one while Killian is the one who has loved her. I think they did sort of hint at it when Killian mentioned in Freya's dream that he was happy to see Freya again but she's not even really there: END SPOILERS] I definitely will be continuing to watch this show.

And finally, Vampire Diaries has a new season as does this new show that I've fallen in love with called Arrow. Both shows are on the CW. I will also be looking forward to the premiere of Reign as I said in my last post! I still need to check out that new Dracula show as well as the Tomorow People, when I have time.

I hope you enjoyed this post on my new favs!

xoxo Allie
