What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

FINISHED Fairy Tail Season 8

I don't know if I ever mentioned Fairy Tail on this blog but in case I haven't I guess I should start with saying that this is quite possibly one of my most beloved animes of all time. For many their shounen anime is Naruto or Dragon Ball Z or One Piece but mine has always been Fairy Tail. I've spent countless years loving this show which is funny cause I'm usually not a shounen girl and of course there were highs and lows in watching this and sometimes I wanted to stop but the second the Fairy Tail theme started to swell I was screaming alongside the whole cast which is why it makes it both heartbreaking and heartwarming that this is supposed to be the final season of Fairy Tail. I loved that it felt so compact with little to no filler or wasted time though a part of me does thing is sucks that Acnalogia was our final boss rather than Zeref cause he was just so much more fascinating but in the end I don't entirely mind because both villains' ends came about perfectly. I loved Zeref and Mavis's tragic love story and that in the end the thing to bring an end to Zeref's suffering was true love while Acnalogia was defeated through all of the magic of the kingdom coming together to destroy him proving that humans are stronger than he ever believed. I loved the lookbacks to all the previous strong moments of Fairy Tail and that almost everyone had a happy ending and paired off romantically like Gajeel & Levy and Gray & Juvia and Jellal & Ersa though Lucy & Natsu were left up in the air. Overall it was a lovely conclusion to this lovely show that made me love almost every single character in the ensemble cast. Fairy Tail will forever have a place in my heart.

Welcome To Demon School Iruma-Kun Episode 15

I really thought that the Battler Party was going to take place in this episode cause I assumed that since Iruma and co build the fireworks machine last week that we had nothing else to do and tbh that was still true this week which made this episode feel like it was just trying to kill time until next week. We still don't really know anything new about Kiriwo or why he wants to destroy Babyls but it obviously has to do with how he doesn't like the demon ranking system but why he thinks destroying the school will stop that is super strange. We did see a glimpse of something that makes me think that maybe someone he loved died or left him cause of the ranking system which if were true would help with his motivations but even more unclear is what Baal gets out of it cause he's already one of the highest ranked demons so like why destroy a school? Sullivan is still in jail but he seems to be doing fine and I low key loved the button we got at the end about how Sullivan's interrogator ended up being a fan of his so he was replaced. I'm a bit worried that he'll end up missing Iruma's Battler Party stuff cause he's arrested and Iruma will be crushed cause he still doesn't know that Sullivan is in jail basically because of him.

ID: Invaded Episode 3

It's totally fascinating how much faster and easier it feels when the mystery is only limited to one episode rather than two but I get why the show did that cause now that we know how these wells work there's no need to drag out the mysteries. We did get a little character development alongside the mystery of the week with us learning that Hondoumachi though mostly still the same as she was before the drilling attack it seems now that having lost a little bit of her frontal lobe has made her a little more cold and emotionless when it comes to cases and death. Her partner claimed that it made her closer to what kind of person Sakaido was but I'm not sure why he seemed so bitter about the whole thing cause it feels horrible to be like Sakaido was an idiot for falling apart after his family's death. Speaking of Sakaido's family we learned a lot more about who he was was back then and how his family died. Though he was a homicide detective it sounded like he wasn't really all that interested in it despite spending all his time at work and barely being home but I wonder if this is just his regret and guilt talking cause I doubt with how fast his mind works and how easily he can solve cases that he wasn't into it at all. It was also interesting to see that he's being housed in the same jail as a lot of the other serial killers and honestly that feels a little too harsh! I mean we don't exactly know what he did after his family died but I can't imagine he went on a killing spree!

Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 4

We're finally back after a month off and honestly guys I'm just as low key disappointed as I was with the first three parts. Maybe these crossovers are just not for me cause you all know that Oliver is the love of my life and Arrow is my show so I'll never not be low key bitter about how he's used in them. I could give less of a shit about Kara or Barry so the fact that we had to watch Oliver die for the second time this crossover was heartbreaking. Why is his family and his life so much less important that Kara and Barry's? I do love that it is Oliver that is the glue that holds everyone together and that without him not only couldn't the Paragons have left the Vanishing Point but the universe couldn't have been reset. Having said that Oliver's treatment isn't the only thing that bugs me about this crossover but also the fact that there's pretty much no story in this. I mean we did learn a bit more about the Monitor and the Anti-Monitor's backstories in this episode but all-in-all we barely know why the Anti-Monitor does what he does. These four parts were basically being held together by cameo after cameo as evidenced by how little we even see our heroes fighting and though the fangirl in me doesn't mind, when I look at it more analytically I'm not content. I also could not give less of a shit about anything Lex and Kara did on the Monitor's planet so I pretty much zoned out for that. On the more positive side it was nice seeing old moments in Oliver's life (cause this was the Arrow part of the crossover) though it low key sucked that Emily Bett Rickards couldn't come back cause an Arrow lookback felt so empty without Felicity and I really screamed over the Ezra Miller appearance cause he was the one cameo I never expected to happen and low key he saves me from hating this episode! Props to Ezra Miller for agreeing to it and props to the Arrowverse for managing to do it!

Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 5

With this episode the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover came to an end and though part of me wants to say it fumbled it's way there, this episode was leagues better than Part 4 and honestly everything that I had a problem with in the previous episode was fixed here and part of me wonders if I liked it so much cause I watched them back to back. This episode did pretty well with tying up the story and any loose ends. I loved that the Anti-Monitor wasn't defeated with Oliver's death cause it would have felt too easy despite wanting Oliver's sacrifice to have the most meaning and I loved how much time was given to Sara and Barry and even Team Arrow to mourn Oliver cause I would have been bitter if they didn't. The comedy was on point especially with the Beebo appearance and it was nice to even get a second of Nate and Ava cause it's the first we're seeing of them since May last year! I also really love how though the multiverse still exists, it's changed enough to make Kara be on the same Earth as Barry and Oliver and the Legends though I guess it means now that Supergirl cannot do the world changing storylines like they did before. I'm also pretty sure though Black Lightning popped in, his Earth will probs still be fine when he returns to it. The final fight with the Anti-Monitor was great as was the way they science-d their way into getting rid of the Anti-Monitor despite being unable to permanently destroy anti-matter. Of all the parts I think Part 2 had the best extended cameos while Part 5 had the best story. Seeing the beginnings of the Justice League was also pretty awesome in the Hall of Justice to be and I loved all the tributes to Oliver but I have a feeling that until the final episode of Arrow airs I don't think I'll truly think that Oliver is dead dead. Overall I think if I turn my brain off this crossover was fun enough and it was worth the price alone to see all the cameos we did.

The Magicians Season 5 Episode 1

I'm not exactly proud of how much I cried this week. Part of it might have been cause I watched the premiere for this season right after watching The Vikings where a funeral for my favorite character Lagertha took place so I might have been in my feels when starting this episode or maybe it's cause I always find that the episode after a major death is the one that kills you emotionally. Quentin was actually one of my favorite characters and though I'm just as bitter as most of The Magicians audience out there about it, I love so much about this show that I decided to continue watching it though I really do feel the Quentin-sized hole in it. Alice was in mourning and I think it's actually super in character for her cause even back in Season 2 when our Quentin met an Alice from another timeline she never stopped searching for a way to bring him back and tbh that's the thing that bugs me about Quentin's death. No one in this show stays dead whether it's through resurrection or another version of the character so it really bugs me that Quentin was the one that the showrunners decided had to permanently be gone. Julia struggled to figure out what to do with her magic while Penny was sort of forced into being a Brakebills's teacher and Kady was still trying to be a hedge witch leader. Meanwhile over in Fillory we still haven't learned what happened over those 300 years or who the new leader is but supposedly Fen and Josh died and I have a feeling that Margo and Eliot will somehow do what the Clockwork Dwarf told them not to and travel back cause duh we can't lose Josh and Fen which will lead to the Apocalypse that Julia was warned about and the quest for the season. 

The promo for next week wasn't exactly a promo for next week but the whole season and we really just gets glimpses of what we're in store for. Alice makes a Golem of Quentin making me wonder if Jason Ralph will actually be back cause we know that Golems look like the humans they are modeled after. Fen and Josh also seem fine so the time travel must work and we're told again that the Apocalypse is happening.

Harley Quinn Season 1 Episode 8

This was a really fun episode but more than what happened this week it's opening up a lot of questions for the future and that's what really interests me. Harley finally got an invitation to the Legion Of Doom but what she didn't know was that the Legion only invited her cause they actually wanted Ivy as a member and were hoping they could sort of blackmail/threaten Ivy into joining cause they know that Ivy would do anything for Harley. In the end though Harley was let into the Legion even though Lex convinced her that when Ivy said no Harley wouldn't be in and this leads me to wonder if maybe this whole thing was planned out on purpose. Maybe Joker wanted Harley back and so he decided that the only way to do that was to separate her from Ivy so he and Lex planned this whole thing. It'd definitely make sense and I'd be so into it! It was also interesting that though Ivy no longer seems afraid to be with Kiteman in public she still hasn't exactly told Harley that they're dating. The stuff with Psycho and the tentacle monster was meh but the comedy was still on point. We also saw Aquaman though he was the original DC version and I'll never be tired of the Aquaman is lame jokes despite personally not actually believing any version of Aquaman is lame.

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hey guys so I wanted to apologize for skipping both the Arrow and Flash reviews last week but I was crazy busy and I will be for the rest of the tv year and I debated how to keep up with my normal reviews while having little time and in the end I decided to do my reviews like I do my weekly asian drama reviews where I do kind of quickie reviews so here we are! I hope you enjoy!

Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 

I really enjoyed this episode and I actually think I liked it better than the first episode of season 8 cause though both had similar themes of the calm before the storm, the first felt more like let's catch up with everyone we haven't seen in ages while this one felt more like the actual let's live before we die. Arya and Gendry hook up and Jon tells Dany about his parentage. We unfortunately cut away before we could truly see what her reaction to that news would be but based on the type of character Dany is, I'm sure she'll see him as a threat to her rule and I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to kill him midbattle or flees south out of anger. She's made it clear over and over that she's only here cause she loves Jon no matter how terrifying the White Walkers are. This of course leads to my favorite scene of the night which was Sansa and Dany talking one-on-one and I think that after this scene where Dany literally says "who's manipulating whom" to Sansa the foreshadowing for Jon using Dany's feelings against her is pretty clear and I think this was the moment that Sansa realized it too cause she softened immediately afterwards though I love that she stood her ground about Northern Independence. One of my favorite things about Sansa is how much she cares about the smallfolk and their comfort cause people seem to forget that Sansa had a front row seat to the smallfolk riots in Kings Landing when they were starving and because of that she knows how terrible it is for the nobles if they don't care. I also loved the reunion between Theon and Sansa which almost brought tears to my eyes cause of how sweet it was. It's interesting how much the show is showing us this season the differences between Dany and Sansa and the kind of rulers they would be. Dany only cares about what she wants and hates when advisors disagree with her and once they do something she doesn't like, that's it for them *cough Tyrion cough.* Meanwhile Sansa cares about everyone and people flock to her out of love and respect instead of fear and she takes what they say into consideration like with Brienne and Jaime. Speaking of, the chamberfire scene when Brienne was finally knighted was so beautiful cause it was all she ever wanted and I loved Podrick singing that terribly beautiful song that's foreshadowing all the death next week.

Speaking of death, I definitely think Grey Worm, Theon, Bran, and Gendry are all main characters who are going to die next week. I also wonder if maybe sending all the women and children to the crypts is a bad idea but I also don't know the rules for how old a body has to be for the White Walkers to raise it so we'll have to see.

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 18

I really debated not doing this review cause I'm really over Supergirl as a show and I don't know why cause the writing of this show is probably the most consistent it has been but I just think that there's nothing in this show that keeps me interested and no characters that I've connected to. There are themes that I think are really interesting and I of course am loving Lex and his amazing plan to discredit Supergirl but other than that I'm meh about the whole thing. Kara spends the episode being hated by everyone and Lena and Alex try to change that. It was funny watching all the inmates suddenly hate Supergirl for being a terrorist and I'm sitting here like but all of you are the same so why do you care? Otis was a highlight especially when he called the press out for being unable to see the bigger picture as long as they get their hot story. I also loved when Kara ran into the thug from before and suddenly he's a big fan of Kara for being pro-alien. Brainy decided to destroy the alien registry to protect other aliens and I do adore him despite the terrible writing the show gives him. It was a little weird to see Haley turn and be on Supergirl's side and I didn't really buy her reasoning for doing so even if it was uplifting to see her warn Supergirl of the danger in the DEO. Maybe part of my struggle this season is just how much I hate the storyline of the country turning against aliens cause it hits too close to home with all the anti-immigration sentiment in the country in real life. I got so nauseous watching the president deputize the Agents of Liberty as if they were a force for good rather than just another hate mongering group.

The promo for next week shows that Nia will be stepping up as a hero and honestly is anyone else as confused as me as to what her powers are? I thought she could only dream of the future and didn't have any extra powers or strengths which to me feels like she should be a supporting hero like an Overwatch or a Brainy than out on the streets type.

Arrow Season 7 Episode 19

Last week I had to skip my Arrow review cause of time but I really enjoyed watching the ladies of Arrow kick ass especially with Sara returning and this week we got back to the overarching story and I'm still loving Emiko as the Big Bad. We met Emiko basically Day 1 of this season and I love that unlike Dante who is just another Diaz clone, Emiko is much more interesting. She has so many more ties to the characters of Arrow and though I wish hints of her had appeared earlier, I like how she's written. I like that she's torn between being this evil person and a lost girl looking for family. Every time Oliver reaches out to her, you can see how torn she is about turning him down especially since the only reason that Emiko even turned to the Ninth Circle is that they gave her a sense of family. Now that she found out that Dante was the one to kill her mother, those ties are probably even weaker and I definitely think she'll turn on them by the end. I was surprised that she killed Dante so easily/quickly but I'm wondering if there's anyone else she has to listen to or if she's really at the top cause when she changes sides, will the Ninth Circle be completely destroyed? I was also surprised that Felicity killed ARCHER this week cause the flash forwards showed us that ARCHER is still up and running but then we found out that Alena kept a copy of the code and I'm sure she's going to try to sell it to whoever that fancy tech guy they talked about. I actually thought for a second that maybe he was a Ninth Circle member cause that would have been a very sneaky way for Emiko to get ARCHER but instead they went the old fashioned break in route. I did love that we finally met some of Diggle's family cause it's been 7 seasons and we never met his parents! It was funny that he was a Stewart (cause of Green Lantern duh) and I'd like to imagine in Jay Garrick's Earth where Diggle is a Green Lantern that he probably took Stewart's last name. The flash forwards were awful as always cause they always seem to provide us new and horrifying information about our heroes and this week we learned that JJ actually became a criminal and that he hates his entire family enough to actually want to murder Connor.

The promo for next week shows Oliver being framed for murders that Emiko commits and it's very strange that I'm so surprised by this cause I really don't know why Emiko would blame Oliver for any of her anger but I think it's a matter of misplaced anger. Robert isn't alive for her to hate and she just killed Dante for her mother so Oliver's the only one left to despise. It is a little sad how quickly everyone turns on Oliver cause like wouldn't Star City believe in him a tiny bit more?

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 12

This was a bit of a disappointing episode of Legends especially since I so adored last week's and it probably has to do with the fact that this was an Ava centric episode. For the life of me I cannot get behind Ava as a character. Like she's fine in most instances and I love her dynamic with Gary but I think she's best as a recurring or minor character and although I find some of her moments with Sara cute, I don't entirely ship them either and as the season goes on, I'm more and more afraid that this is a way to write off Sara or take her from the Legends cause the whole theme of this episode was Ava and Sara's relationship. It was interesting to see how much Ava wants Sara to be a different person which once again bugs me. Sara isn't really the type to settle down. She likes adventure and living in the moment and Ava's the opposite. I understand Ava being insecure and being scared that Sara will leave her for someone or something else but Sara is already committed in the way she knows with being exclusive and being together whenever there's nothing wrong in the timeline and I don't really think this episode cleared this up so I'm not entirely sure where this left us. On the other hand, the Neuron stuff was the most interesting and I really didn't think that he was killed off cause that would have been too quick. I do like the twist that Neuron is in Ray though it's super strange that Constantine would not be able to sense that Ray is possessed and I guess it's a really good thing that Nora's in a coma otherwise she definitely would. I still really hate the way the show took Hank and I really don't understand the theme park thing but it was fun to watch Nate be at the end of his ropes. I loved his line about how he would throw himself out a window if the person calling on Hank's secret phone was his mistress. We end the episode with Nate stopping the destruction of the theme park and that makes me wonder where they'll take this cause I doubt he wants to follow through with this plan. Maybe he wants to make a sanctuary for magical creatures or maybe he will go through with the park only now he'll get the consent of the creatures? Zari trying to figure out what to text Nate all episode was really funny as well but I was sitting here like why can't you just ask him if he's okay cause afterall his dad just died!

Never mind what I said about not knowing that Neuron is in Ray cause it looks like Ray was only slightly possessed and it is enough for him to realize that something is wrong but not enough for him to be controlled entirely like Desmond. I'll be interested to see what happens and whether Neuron ends up jumping into another body like this is some sort of hot potato game but if I had to guess, I'd say that he'll probably get entirely controlled by the end of the episode.

The Flash Season 5 Episode 19 

This was an interesting episode cause I'm usually a huge fan of Caitlin centric episodes and I haven't been a huge fan of Nora this season but I think this episode was poorly placed in this season. Nora just got interesting and instead of focusing on her and Eobard and Iris going to the future, we focused on Icicle and I was just not as interested as I would have been. Despite this I did like what the show did with Icicle this week and I loved the idea that he wanted to make an ice family for himself which is why he kidnapped Caitlin and her mom. Was anyone else even the slightest bit surprised that the mom ended up getting meta powers? While this was happening, I was casually trying to think of other female ice villains in the DCU besides Killer Frost and the only one I could think of was Mrs Freeze! It was sad to see Thomas sacrifice himself for Caitlin but narratively it was there so Barry could see that his approach to Nora was wrong. By the by Caitlin literally just lost her father to Grace!Cicada like Barry lost his mom to Eobard but how much do you wanna bet we probs will never touch on this again except for maybe a line or two in the future from Caitlin about how Grace!Cicada needs to pay? The more interesting part of the episode to me was the Iris stuff and how angry she was with Barry for sending Nora back to the future without consulting her. I was completely on her side in this argument cause not only was Barry an asshole for not even thinking to consult his wife about his decision but he blamed her for being emotional when it was him who wasn't thinking clearly. I kind of wish that this anger had gone on for more than one episode cause I can't see how in real life an argument like this could be solved in a day but I get it cause this show doesn't like to separate Barry and Iris for more than a few seconds. I loved that she got to see Eobard and Nora interact in the future and more Ralph is always a great thing. I had been thinking for a while that Eobard seemed to really care for Nora and she clearly really cares for him too cause she's never had a father figure so it was nice that Iris mentioned it too. I wonder if they'll end up getting Eobard out of death row to get him to help and then once he does, he escapes cause I can't see the show actually killing off Eobard.

Next week is another female rogue team and it looks like Nora is going to be a little evil which is kinda fun. I really wish the show would get rid of Grace!Cicada already cause she's just as boring as Cicada was and I'm so much more interested in evil Nora and Eobard and I had really hoped for a while that they would do like Arrow and switch their villain midseason.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 19

What a strange episode that we all just watched! The Jones Family played G&G to save JB, Betty kept trying and failing to take down the Farm and Veronica and Archie tried to deal with the death of the boxer who Archie fought last week. It never ceases to amuse me how Betty and Jughead always have their own stories to deal with while the show always seems to put Veronica and Archie in the same storyline no matter their relationship status. I assume it's because Jughead and Betty are actually interesting while Archie is a stick in the mud who I've been bored with since season 1 while Veronica is touch and go. I still hate that she broke up with Reggie cause they had loads more chemistry that Archie and Veronica did. In turn I was super bored during most of the Archie stuff but it's weird that we're circling back to the Hiram hates Archie storyline which I really thought we put to rest. I assume Hiram was playing a long game once he got out of the hospital but I also wonder if it came about once Veronica broke up with Reggie and starting hanging out with Archie again. I was surprised to find out that Evelyn was actually Edgar's wife and not his daughter as Betty found out this week and like the only thing I could think of was ew but also couldn't Betty take that info to the police or the news and at the very least get Evelyn kicked out of school? It was hilarious honestly seeing Penelope up and run away with one of Polly's babies and I seriously doubt that Hal is dead. If anything he probably escaped in the cover of whatever accident occurred. Gladys also left town which was a sad moment but JB is sticking around and at least now Riverdale will be safer with the drug trade once again shut down.

The promo for next week shows that we might finally get rid of the Gargoyle King and I hope that's true cause honestly the Farm is much more interesting and seriously Betty needs the Core Four to help her fight cause she's lost everyone else to them and she's starting to waver too which is why she needs Jughead at the least by her side.

Gotham Season 5 Episode 12

This was the series finale for Gotham and I actually really liked the idea of seeing everyone 10 years later though I wish that we had actually seen more of Bruce. I am glad we at the very least saw his batsuit which tbh was actually not half bad! The actress who played adult Selina looked so much like young Selina so like props to the casting! I loved seeing her be a cat burglar and that even to this day she knew when Bruce was around and though it was heartbreaking that the show is ending with them apart, I'm sure that their relationship is not over especially we're just now reaching batman year one. I was a little annoyed that we never saw the adult Bruce on screen but I guess that it makes a little sense cause Bruce does need the crew to separate him from Batman and to act all frivolous and uncaring would help them separate young Bruce who had a sense of justice from older Bruce. It was also really nice seeing Barbara as a tycoon and baby Barbara who looked a little too young to be 10 but still with a sense of justice that makes her a future Batgirl. We also caught up with all the villains and it kinda makes sense that they were all in jail or imprisoned so that they're starting fresh with Batman too. Even Jeremiah is fine and hilariously he killed Ecco (cause he needs Harleen in the future.) Overall it was a pretty uplifting finale and totally makes me want the adult version of this show which I suppose is the point cause though it's the end of this show, it's only the start to Gotham's Dark Knight.

Fruits Basket (2019) Season 1 Episode 4

This episode was Kagura's introduction and honestly I was pretty meh about the whole thing cause I've never really liked Kagura as a character back in the 2001 version and I didn't have high hopes for this version either. To my complete lack of surprise, Kagura was just as abusive and clingy as I remembered her to be tbh and it was a pain to sit through this episode. Kyo's always been my favorite of the zodiacs and I definitely shipped him with Tohru but my dislike of Kagura has less to do with her getting in the way of my ship than the way she's portrayed to be this pain in Kyo's ass that everyone thinks is cute. Like I know it's an anime and everything but violence isn't a good thing and the fact that Kagura makes Kyo so uncomfortable and the fact that she hurts him when he doesn't do what she wants just doesn't sit right with me especially since everyone is just like marry her Kyo, she loves you! Despite that as always the animation for her boar form was so cute though. Of course my favorite scene of the episode has to be the one on the rooftop where Kyo opened up to Tohru about his love of martial arts cause duh but I still think it's too early for either of the two to catch any real feelings.

Next week seems to be the episode where Tohru's grandfather tells her to return home only for Tohru to decide to stay with the Sohmas instead.

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 10 Review

Tonight's episode of Supergirl was actually pretty good and I actually almost cried at the end so let's dive right in!

I think my enjoyment of this episode honestly has a lot to do with the fact that there was no Agent Liberty spouting bullshit tonight. I can handle pretty much every type of villain but villains that spread fear and hatred like this are too close to real life villains and they always make me so uncomfortable! I did like that despite Agent Liberty not being in this episode, the fear and hatred of aliens was still in the background. The main villain wasn't really the invisible aliens but actually the humans themselves. It was horrific listening to Haley and the other military dude talk about how they took alien children and conditioned them through fear to become soldiers who would do anything and everything for them cause they were scared of the humans. This is a very common tactic in the real world too especially in the military but the idea that they did this to children and then didn't even view them as anything more than the dirt on their boots just cause they weren't human was disgusting. Honestly sometimes I think that there's no one worse than humanity cause we have this innate need to feel better about ourselves through placing others into a lower category and it's the absolute worst. I do believe there is a possibility of life out in outer space somewhere cause it's so vast but it's like aliens should stay away cause they'll get no good here on Earth.

I was seriously sad that they ended up killing all of the invisible aliens except for one cause they super didn't deserve what they went through. The president apparently has decided that he hates aliens too and put out a kill order on all alien military projects which minus the moral side seems really short-sighted to me. He knows there are alien threats out there and if we were to place this in real world terms, it would be like ending all nuclear power research even though other countries have nuclear capabilities too. This is especially true cause we started the episode in Russia seeing their version of Supergirl and the military discuss how to control her. I assume that this season is going to end with Russia attacking and Supergirl having to stop her which will cause the alien sentiment in the States to be better or at least for the government to trust her again.

Tbh I'm so petty that if this was happening to me, I would cut anchor and leave. I will never understand why Kara chose to stay here on Earth when her real mom is alive over on Argos. Even Clark preferred to be there and he has no memories of being on Krypton. If the humans hate you so much, leave and then they'll wish you were around to help.

There was also some stuff with Lena and James that I didn't really care about except for the possibility of where we might end up. They made up and Lena surprisingly came out with what her research actually was and even more surprisingly James was on board. I do have a feeling though that he's not actually on board with this and is just playing the long game as he learned to do recently so he's going to pretend to be on her side so she'll tell him everything. It's either that or he wants the powers according to that weird look he had on his face at the end of the episode. For a minute I was thinking about whether or not Lena's research was evil but then I realized that it's basically the same thing as making metahumans over on Flash or giving humans fancy tech like Arrow right? It is an interesting thought though to wonder if normal humans will see metas as human or lump them in with aliens if they come about cause over on Flash, metas are hated as much as aliens over here on Supergirl so it would be ironic as hell if Lena managed to make these metas only to have humans still not see them as the same.

I still love Brainy but I wasn't super into his stuff with Nia tonight either. She thought he was asking her out on a date and he thought he was setting up a meeting and though it was funny, ultimately I wasn't into it. I do think it's hilarious how back in season 2 when Mon El didn't want to become a hero it was like he was the devil cause how dare he not want to use his powers for good but now that Nia doesn't want to, it's like oh that's understandable it's a hard decision. Blech.

The saddest part of the episode though was the end when J'onn had to erase the minds of everyone. Haley was seriously the worst tonight and I was wondering why they couldn't just let her be killed by the invisible aliens cause it would solve a lot of problems. The president literally fired Supergirl from the DEO but Haley was pissed cause how dare Supergirl try to exercise free will and work without orders from the DEO. I know this is Supergirl's show and not Superman's but seriously the fact that they don't even mention him in this is ridiculous cause why wouldn't the government care about he other alien Super?? It was even worse when she broke that one agent and learned who Supergirl was and then proceeded to try to blackmail Kara into becoming a puppet of hers and I was never so satisfied as when Alex punched her lights out. I liked that the show remembered that J'onn could erase memories and used them on Haley but then the show went even further and made J'onn erase Alex's memories too and it was heartbreaking to watch. Despite this, I'm fascinated with this idea and I can't wait to see where we can take this.

How long do we think it'll take before Alex's memories are either restored or Kara reveals herself again? By the season finale right? Now it seems that the only people on Earth who will know are J'onn, Brainy, James and Eliza... I like the idea of decreasing Team Supergirl and I hope now we get to see Kara really become a solo hero like Clark since she has no help from the DEO. Brainy was right though in the fact that she does need a tech person and I wonder why he doesn't leave and join Kara and J'onn in their crusade cause he stayed to help Kara no?

Lol irony of all ironies but it looks like maybe Alex will remember next week? Wow Supergirl you couldn't even wait a few episodes before doing this?? This is like Flashpoint over on Flash all over again. I do like the idea that wiping Alex's mind of Kara being Supergirl has such strong consequences though cause of course it would. She's not like a random DEO agent cause she and Kara are so intertwined in each other's lives so erasing all of that must be so difficult. It would be interesting if she wasn't so close to Kara anymore in this new version of herself cause that'd be a fun way to play with this idea!

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 9 Review

Well part 3 just happened and honestly I'm just glad this whole crossover is over. I did enjoy this episode more than the last two though part 2 was only just slightly less fun than this. If I had to rank crossovers, the first one (the two-part Arrow/Flash one) was a 3, the Hawk people intro was a 4, Invasion was a 4.5, Earth X was a 5 and Elseworlds was a 3.5 because it was better done that the first but not as enjoyable cause I still feel like characters were written out of character.

Let's dive in. I loved seeing Barry and Oliver acting like the villains tonight with knocking a big steel structure onto kids so that weird fake doctor now acting as fake Superman would have to save them. The best part though was when they went to that bar that was owned by villain Cisco (excuse me Mr Ramon) with bartender Gary (always love when he pops up) and bouncer Jimmy. It was funny that not only did the fake Superman take away Barry's speed but he took away Oliver's fighting skills too which led me to wonder why everyone in that bar feared them if they were clearly sucky villains! I did wish we got to see more characters pop up as evil versions of themselves (like where was Iris and Felicity) but it's always a pleasure to see Cisco play a different version of himself and he was my favorite tonight (besides Superman obviously.)

Speaking of Superman, I was so glad that we got more of him especially since this was the Supergirl portion of the crossover and I loved every moment of it. Tyler Hoechlin is an amazing Superman and every time he pops up I wish I could see more of him! He did an amazing job playing the villain and also playing Superman while seeming like two separate people especially when he was talking to himself. One of the funniest moments of the episode was when he though Kara turned into Cisco for a second in the Fortress. I also loved the idea that he was the only one able to hold and control The Book of Destiny cause though the show likes to do stuff to show that Supergirl is just as badass as Superman, in my heart of hearts I will always think Superman is the strongest DC hero so when there are things that only he can do, my heart warms the same as when Oliver gets the praise he should.

We also got a little more Lois and she was pretty brave to come over to Earth 1 when it needed help which is such a Lois thing to do. It was also sweet to watch Clark propose to her (by crushing the diamond himself lol) and to find out that they were pregnant. I was kind of hoping that Clark would appear at least once more over on Supergirl cause it still feels silly that the alien crisis they're facing wouldn't seem like a big deal to Clark though tbh I still don't entirely understand why Kara isn't going to Argo too cause if I was her, I'd want to be with my family and friends there.

We got some Alex tonight and learned that there was in fact an Alex on this Earth which means that pretty much everything from Earth 38 is here except for the Supers which in my head-canon I'd like to believe means that Krypton never exploded. I liked that Kara was the one to reach her cause it shows that despite everything their sisterly bond is the most powerful (and that it paralleled Oliver and Felicity's and Iris and Barry's relationships cause love is love no matter if it's familial or not.)

I'm not sure how I feel about this whole crossover amounting to basically a promo for next year's crossover which is Infinite Crisis and I wonder if the reason it was so badly written was cause they didn't care that much about this one as they do the next. Though I'm sad I didn't enjoy this one as much as I should have, I'm really looking forward to the next one and since nothing really happened here that will affect future episodes on a large scale, I'm fine with pretending it never happened. I am curious about what deal Oliver made with The Monitor but I'm sure that'll be like the first scene in next year's crossover and I just hope it doesn't end with Oliver dying or something cause technically of all the shows Arrow has been on the longest and who knows how many seasons CW wants it to have and if he did die it would match the future dystopian timeline we've been seeing over on Arrow.

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 8 Review

Can you believe it's already the midseason finale for Supergirl? I know we have the crossover next week (which I will be posting reviews for all three episodes) but I'm pretty sure it's not really canon in terms of story movement so I thought I'd review this episode as it should be. Overall I really liked the episode so let's jump in,

I do think that this season is well written and this story is a very common one in superhero tales but I'm really not a fan of it. Humans are the actual worst cause we're always terrified of what we don't understand and what we can't control and it's literally in our bones to want to make things "other" so I get why this story is so often told but I just don't understand how this story can end well. This isn't something Kara can just punch and make go away as multiple characters have mentioned in the show and I can't see see a show like Supergirl which stands for hope continuing this hatred towards aliens over multiple seasons like The Gifted but I also can't see a way for this story to end without it feeling like those terribly cheesy gun control episodes Supergirl and Arrow did before. For so many weeks I debated dropping this show cause I just didn't want to watch it and be sad. I watch tv to get away from the real world and objectively like I said this season is leagues ahead of season 3 but in my heart, I struggle to get through it.

I liked that we finally revealed Ben Lockwood as Agent Liberty but the fact that his arrest changed nothing other than making him a martyr was super sad and I'll be so beyond pissed if this somehow gets him out of prison. It's one thing to spew hatred and racism out but it's another to actually hunt and kill people and aliens are still people no matter what the Agents of Liberty say so Ben deserves to be in jail. All those people can protest away. It was smart of him to blame Supergirl for hurting him rather than explaining that it was a human who did it cause it doesn't fit the message he's trying to relay but I feel like there should be an easier way to get that info out like through the news or something explaining that it was in fact a human who attacked another human cause it might take some of the wind out of his fake sails.

It was a little weird to find out that Nia was an alien too this week cause though I've known she's a Legionnaire called Dreamer, I didn't expect her to be an alien though I really should have cause Supergirl doesn't really do metas even though there should be metas in this world if Batman exists. Sidebar but how do you think the Agents of Liberty feel about metas? Probably like Guardian right? Her powers are kinda weird too but it was super cheesy how she spend years not being able to control her powers and then suddenly be able to kick ass with them just when they needed it the most. It's also interesting that Brainy and Kara didn't tell her the truth about themselves. I wonder if the season would end with her going to the future with Brainy after all?

My favorite part of this season so far is definitely Manchester Black who's hilariously not that different from Oliver or any of Team Arrow but over here on Supergirl, he's a monster who deserves to be punished forever for hurting criminals and bad guys. It does make me roll my eyes a little cause the over cheesiness and wholesome goodness the heroes on this show need to have is one of the reasons that I never thought Supergirl was my favorite of the Arrowverse shows (ugh remember when Mon El was deemed the absolute worst just cause he liked to drink and sleep around as if that's the worse crime a person could commit?) but as the episode went on and he tried to kill Ben's innocent wife, that's when he started to become more of a villain than an anti-hero. I do hope this isn't the last we see of him cause technically he still hasn't hurt anyone innocent yet and I do think that this is one of those cases where Supergirl is going to have to get down in the dirt to get the job done so I could see them working together again in the future.

The end of the episode with Supergirl basically being fired from the DEO was a little sad but I liked it cause I've always thought that Supergirl shouldn't really work for the US government anyway. I wonder if she'll become a vigilante now that she doesn't have permission to be out in the streets or if she'll create her own team of superheroes and if Brainy will follow her cause I have a feeling this whole full transparency thing won't be great for explaining that he's not only an alien but from the future as well. Speaking of, damn I miss Mon El and I do hope that he'll come back at some point whether it's this season or next. I'm still waiting for our Mon El and Winn bromance in the 31st century episode!!

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 1 Review

Supergirl came back tonight and honestly though I fell in love with Supergirl season 2, season 3 was so terrible that I debated whether I even wanted to watch this new season. In the end I decided to check it out but did decide to stop reviewing this show weekly cause it seemed silly to just report on my irritation with this thing or that. So here we go with the first episode of season 4 and if you're curious click here to see my previous reviews!

Honestly this was a pretty good episode of Supergirl. It feels much tighter than it did last season but season premieres are usually pretty solid for Supergirl. It's when the season goes on that the wheels fall off. I was talking about how Flash felt like a soft reboot last week and Supergirl felt similar this week and I think I've realized what happened. I completely forgot that one of the executive producers of the Arrowverse was fired and it must be because of his removal that we're seeing so many changes and so far none of them feel wrong.

I love the idea that this season of Supergirl is about anti-alien sentiment going up. Honestly humans are the damn worst and any time there's an opportunity to separate groups into the other category, we take it so it was only a matter of time before Supergirl dove into this idea. Agents of SHIELD played with the idea of anti-Inhumans in their season 4 and anti-mutants have always been a forefront on the X-Men side especially in the Gifted so I'm curious to see how Supergirl plays in this world and how we'll resolve the problem here. Something like changing a world of minds into being more tolerant isn't an issue that can be resolved in one season. Both SHIELD and Gifted have this theme playing across their multiple seasons but the Arrowverse usually likes to limit their problems per season so I assume that the Agent of Liberty or whoever the villain is will be taken out but maybe his ideals and sentiments will be carried through?

I liked that J'onn was the one to bring up the idea to Kara at first and how she adamantly rejected it only for J'onn to remind her that she is in the minority of alien cases cause not only does she pass for human all the time but she's blonde haired blue eyed at that. I also really liked how the episode played out and how clearly we were introduced to the villain unlike in the Flash premiere where it felt like the villain of the season was an afterthought. If the whole season stays as tight as this premiere, this might be Supergirl's best season yet. I know I'm biased cause I adored season 2 cause of the building Kara and Mon El relationship but even I can tell you that there were holes in the season that we tripped over. I don't know if we ever met a villain so clearly before and I love that it's not an alien this season cause it allows for a fresh new storyline to play out.

Also sidebar but the stab of glee I got when I realized that one of the villains was named Mercy and used to be Lex's assistant was hilarious. Easter eggs! I also wonder if we'll be seeing more of the President this season cause she popped up in the premiere which was very unexpected. The President has been revealed to be an alien and that's going to lead to a whole mess of problems which I feel like could be acted out off screen but I kind of hope they don't do that cause I'm interested in this!

On the comic con panel for Supergirl this year we were told that the show will be doubling down on the reporter side of Kara and I do think that was pretty evident tonight with not only the introduction of a new character who will be working at CatCo but also a new set for CatCo which I think came around cause the old one was destroyed by the attack last season. I do hope that we get a lot more Kara at CatCo this season cause as much fun as it is seeing Kara kick butt, we need to know that she has a human life too and with Mon El gone and no romance on the horizon, a return to her working is a good thing especially since we know the only way to fight hatred is through hope.

Over on the Luthor side of things, I'm always down for more Luthor shenanigans since a Luthor is always the main villain for a Super. I still love that Lena and Supergirl are on the outs and I do hope this is the season where Lena starts going more evil cause I'm still dying for evil Lena and if the Flash can do multiple speedster villains one after another, we can do two anti-alien sentiments back to back. Lena and Lillian seemed at first to be trying to work things out but Lena was playing Lillian so she could cut a deal for James and honestly Lillian seemed pretty impressed by it and I do think that Lena will attempt to bond with her mom anyway.

Honestly James seemed like a bit of a moron this week by claiming that everything will work out and refusing to allow Lena to pull strings. It's always funny to me cause my mind always goes the Oliver Queen route and tries to think of the darker way to win (that's probs why Arrow is my favorite) but it's also funny cause that method isn't exactly the hero way as we're told by James and even Barry over on Flash. It's going to bite Lena in the butt later on this season when James realizes that Lena pulled strings after all cause that's a piece of drama that the show can't drop when it's so clearly placed in front of us.

Tonight's episode was a lot darker than normal for Supergirl so the only piece of levity was with Brainy and Alex. I still adore Brainy and he's my favorite and I was living for every time he did something and Alex got so angry with it. It was a sweet reveal at the end that Alex had been so annoyed with him cause he wasn't Winn and not only did she miss him but she had spent so much time working beside him that she wasn't used to other people. I hope we see more of Brainy and that he doesn't get relegated to the background the way Winn used to. I'm still holding off on the hope that eventually this season we'll get a flash-forward episode where we catch up with Winn and Mon El and the Legion in the future. Maybe even set after the crossover when most of the Supergirl cast is busy working elsewhere!

Next week looks pretty amazing too with the continuing dark theme. The President is still around and Kara will be working to bring hope back to the public while the villains work to take her down with Kryptonite which is fun. Honestly I don't understand how by now someone like Winn or Brainy haven't created an anti-Kryptonite suit for Kara!

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 23 Review

I cannot decide if tonight's finale was really good or very strange. Maybe a little of both? The episode felt a lot like a series finale with the way it seemed to tie everything up but at the same time shake up the board completely.

Let's start with the most interesting part in my opinion and that was the Legion coming back to help. I assumed this was going to happen cause we all knew Imra and Mon El had to break up in person somehow in order for him to be with Kara but the scene we got was really weird. They kind of both were just like eh our marriage didn't really seem that great now that we look back and that was that. Like no talk of divorce or separation or an attempt to work through their problems. This whole marriage storyline was terrible from the moment it first showed up and it hasn't got any better. Brainiac 5 then told Mon El and Winn that when they killed Pestilence the Blight never killed people and one of those people that was saved was his evil distant relative (aka Brainiac or so I'm assuming) and that the future needs Mon El and Winn. I'm of two minds on this cause I love the idea of them having to fight Brainiac cause he's such a badass villain and I love that Brainiac 5 is going to be a permanent member of season 4 of Supergirl but at the same time I hate that we're losing Mon El and Winn and that no matter how cool the storyline seems for why they're leaving, we're never going to be able to see it!!!

The sendoff for Winn was so heartbreaking and I teared up alongside everyone else though it's so weird that it wasn't Kara who was the saddest to say goodbye cause the show has decided to conveniently forget that Kara and Winn were best friends in season 1. I do wonder if we'll get these characters back next season cause I know Jeremy Jordan is signed on as a recurring but that could just mean that he pops up in like two episodes. Mon El leaving is super weird cause why else did we spend a whole season showing us Mon El and Kara falling back in love and give Mon El a costume matching Kara's if he was going to leave in the end? Why not just cut ties and show us Mon El in love with Imra and Kara moving on? Weird as hell. There hasn't been any announcements about Chris Wood leaving and I do love Mon El and Kara together so I'd like to believe that he'll be back like he was this season.

Sidebar if this is the last we see of Mon El, I really really want the show to explore Brainiac 5 and Kara's relationship cause they're together in the comics and now that Brainiac 5 has a human projector thing to disguise himself, the problems I thought the CW would have are no longer there (aka the fact that the main lead can't be with a non-handsome male actor.) Part of this is definitely my bias for Jesse Rath!!

I feel like so much of this episode was supposed to be emotional but none of the characters reacted the way they should have making the emotional beats not hit. Like the fact that Reign killed Mon El, Alura and Sam before Kara went back in time (how that happened who the hell really knows) but other than J'onn being like Mon El saved me, Kara had pretty much no reaction. Girl that's your mom who literally just died in front of you. I understand if you moved on from Mon El but seriously your mom! It was a fun twist to have Kara go back in time and fix the problem though. But can we talk about how Kara was like I came in here ready to kill and that's not me only for the solution to stop Reign being to kill her? Like how Kara.

We also lost M'rynn tonight which was sad but even sadder is the fallout we get from his death in that J'onn resigns from his position as Director of the DEO to go soul searching or something and I'm sitting here like though I love the idea of Alex being Director, are we losing J'onn next season too? What in the world is up with this episode clearing house? I am looking forward to seeing Alex as Director but I really don't want to watch her be a parent next season. Ugh. Ruby was bad enough and William over on Arrow took almost half a season for me to warm up to and if I'm being honest I only ever liked him cause I liked the idea of Oliver, Felicity and William being a real family.

Speaking of Ruby and Sam both survived but I have a feeling that we probably won't see them again (please let that be true!!) Also James unmasked as Guardian (who cared) and we got more hints of evil Lena. For a second I got all excited thinking that maybe she will be the villain of season 4 but oddly enough we got what seems like a clone of Kara. Is this a World Killer Kara? Or more of a Bizzaro Supergirl? I'm not sure how to feel about this cause The Flash already tried the whole another evil version of you as the Big Bad.

This season of Supergirl was not the best for me though not anywhere as bad as season 1. I just felt like so much time was wasted but at the same time half the story was rushed. I'm also not thrilled with next season's villain cause the Supers have such a huge repertoire of villains to chose from but we keep going back to evil Kryptonians and it looks like we'll get another one next season. Why couldn't we use Brainiac here or some other sort of alien or villain??

Here's to season 4 hopefully bringing us back to the fun of season 2!

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 22 Review

Overall I really enjoyed tonight's episode of Supergirl and the last half felt very much like a penultimate episode but the first half was a little slow.

Let's start with the evil Kryptonians who arrived on Earth and built a new Fortress. I'm not entirely sure what they actually did with building a new Reign but I guess somehow they built a new Reign from scratch like they did on Krypton? Okay so I'm confused about that but I can let it go other than one thing. Why did their previous models for World Killers have a human counterpart? Why not just build the World Killers like they did now? And why did they only make one with all three powers rather than three separate World Killers like they did before? I'm wondering if maybe they troubleshooted and were like so maybe plan a didn't work so let's try plan b. I actually really like the idea that all of this was simply to make a new Krypton cause for a while I was really confused as to what Reign wanted though it feels pretty similar to what the Daxamites wanted last year. If all these aliens want a new planet and can literally terraform it into their specification, why pick Earth? I'm sure there are plenty of planets they can play with! Maybe that's a personal thing but for me it's always like why pick somewhere that's protected over somewhere that's probs easier to control.

Also sidebar this would be the perfect time for Superman to come back cause the World Killers are about to destroy the Earth and not just National City but I don't think he's scheduled to appear this season which is disappointing cause I don't know why it would be so hard to bring him back when clearly the show has permission to use him and I don't think Tyler Hoechlin is too busy right now.

I also kind of love the idea that Sam and Reign are still connected and that by one getting stronger, the other gets weaker. One thing I'm looking forward to in this finale is just how much is in the air as a way to stop Reign. As the episode went on I really thought that we might actually lose Sam (as I predicted so that Alex can adopt Ruby) but by the end I'm fairly certain that Sam will make it out of this season alive. Ruby was still kind of annoying tonight but so was Sam in her own fun way.

Alura, Mon El and Kara had a fun adventure tonight too. Apparently Mon El learned how to be a tech guy in the future which I think is hilarious and fun and he and Winn finally had a moment where they were friends again cause I've been missing them hanging out like last season. I'm also pretty sure Mon El is going to stay cause he all but admitted that he still loves Kara and can't leave her again. I wonder if somehow the Legion will pop up in the finale cause he's gotta get divorced somehow. Speaking of coming to Earth, Alura is here as I predicted she would eventually come and I kind of hope she sticks around though I have a feeling that she'll probably want to go back and help rule Argo at the end cause if she stays, then there will be another Kryptonian on Earth. I just don't want her to die in the finale. Anything else is okay. Also how hilarious was it seeing Alura play Kara tonight?

We had some stuff with J'onn and Mry'nn and though what they were doing was all emotional and deep, watching it was pretty boring. Like did we constantly have to cut to them when so many more interesting things were happening. It looks like maybe they won't be able to finish the Reach after all cause Mry'nn is going to die stopping the Earth from exploding.

Winn also had a little bit of an arc when he was working on his non-lethal weapons. I love any time the DEO agents have something to do cause it humanizes all the extras and reminds us that they probably have lives too. I loved his interactions with that DEO agent tonight cause he's the same one from that episode where Mry'nn caused everyone to get angry at each other. I would still love to know why Winn and that guy don't like each other. It was a good idea to let us get to know him a little cause when he died it had a bigger impact that if he was DEO agent blank. It's also leading to Winn brooding a little about how he was so proud of his tech but how it didn't work out the way he wanted it too. I've been having the feels that Winn might be leaving the show this season between how many times the show has hinted Winn wanting to do something else and how busy Jeremy Jordan is in the real world. I wouldn't blame him for leaving for a second cause the show really does underutilize him.

We got a glimpse of Brainiac 5 in the promo so it looks like the Legion will be back afterall and apparently looking for recruits or wanting Mon El back. I could see Winn leaving with them tbh or maybe Sam and Ruby but I really hope that Mon El sticks around cause this whole season was about him realizing that he can't live without Kara and that she's more important to him than anyone else. We should be getting a big battle between Kara and Reign as well and I can't help but laugh whenever she talks about how she doesn't kill cause like didn't she kill a whole race of Daxamites last season indirectly when they realized the lead into the air? I can't wait to see how this season ends. Hopefully it'll be a high on an overall meh season.

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 21 Review

Okay so I seriously loved tonight's episode of Supergirl. Let's dive in.

My favorite part of the episode was definitely the stuff with Argo City. I'm actually so glad that we touched on the fact that Kara's mom is literally alive and just a little bits away cause I felt kind of underwhelmed with the reveal last week though I understand that Kara was on a bit of a time crunch. I still do wish that we had gotten more of Kara with her mom but I also really loved the stuff with her friend and the crisis of identity she's still having. I loved that Kara and Mon El went back to Argo and that Kara was able to find people and things she missed from her childhood. I loved how awkward that double date dinner was when her friend and her husband were bemoaning that their gazebo facing the wrong direction was the end of the world and Kara and Mon El just looked at each other like is that a real problem. I loved that Kara struggled to relax after spending so long fighting and that she was able to talk to both her mom and Mon El about it.

Speaking of Mon El, how is it possible that I'm falling more and more in love with as the weeks go by especially now that Imra is gone and we're actually seeing what a kind man he is now. I loved that we met that kid again and how impressed (and a bit in awe) Kara was that he helped the kid and didn't brag about it like the old Mon El did. I also loved that he gave his Legion ring to Kara which actually might be the only reason that he came to Argo too cause the idea of him needed tech to call the future was a bit contrived. Not that I'm complaining cause I love seeing him and Kara being as close to their real selves as possible. Also how funny was it that he is being introduced as Mon El from the Legion and not Daxam? Mon El also finally talked to Kara about his feelings for her and she clearly is not over him either. I am glad that they didn't kiss tonight cause I need Mon El to split up with Imra first (even though I'm not entirely sure how he can get a cross time divorce.)

Sidebar I'm also thrilled that the High Priestess of the Worldkillers stole their ship cause that means we get to play in Argo for a bit longer. I still want somehow the residents of Argo to come to Earth or for at least Kara's mom to come to Earth. I was worried at the end that the show might kill off Kara's mom as a reason for her to return to Earth permanently cause we all know Kara's not going to stay in Argo.

At first I didn't think I was going to love the stuff we got with James and the DEO tonight cause honestly if I could pick I would have rather had the whole episode focus on Kara in Argo but I did end up enjoying Supergirl's version of a gun control episode. Arrow tried to do the same thing last season but I felt like the message was much better portrayed on Supergirl where the heroes actually aren't vigilantes shooting guns on the streets but government agents who are permitted to do so. I also loved how J'onn came up with an actual response to the gun violence on the streets through changing the DEO weapons to non-lethal cause it was a lot more sensible than when Oliver was like here's how to fix the problem perfectly but I'm not going to say what it is cause we don't actually know.

Sadly I'm back to not feeling Lena and James's relationship again. I just feel like they're such fundamentally different people and practically every week they're on opposite sides of a fight. I did love that Eve ended up working with Lena in the end cause she needs to be with a Luthor *wink wink nudge nudge* but it was funny that James was the one to shout her name and not Lena. I am curious as to what Lena found in the end and if it'll lead to her turn somehow.

Sidebar but I wish the show would bring back Clark this season cause I feel like Kara really should have told her cousin that Argo was around before leaving Earth semi-permanantly cause like I know he has no memory of Krypton but this seems to be something that we should have touched on!

I also felt really bad for Alex and J'onn tonight with their personal issues. Alex literally just lost everyone by having to give Ruby back to her mom and Kara leaving. It was heartbreaking to see her alone in her apartment. J'onn also seemed to come to terms with saying goodbye to Mry'nn tonight as well. I wonder if we'll actually say goodbye to him next week but if I had to guess I'd say it will be in the finale. I also don't see Alex actually adopting a child by the end of this season cause I feel like as soon as she does she'll want to retire from the DEO or maybe if we're lucky she'll switch to the DEO's medical field. I actually for a second thought that James might join the DEO after seeing the look on his face after J'onn's speech. I wouldn't mind that tbh cause he spends most of his time in the DEO anyway now that Kara's like never at CatCo.

I'm interested to see if Reign is back at the end and I have a feeling that Ruby's going to die. I was curious about whether Reign was actually stopped in the beginning of the episode cause I wouldn't have put it past the show to make the High Priestess the final villain. I would have liked that cause you all know how I feel about Reign/Sam/Ruby this year.

Next week looks fun as well and definitely should be ramping up for the finale the week after! I'm excited to see how Kara and the others get to Earth and what the Priestesses will be up to! Here's to an awesome penultimate episode!

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 20 Review

I was really excited to see this episode and I really enjoyed everything with Kara and Mon El in space but there were chunks of the episode that I was just not about which dragged this episode down for me.

Let's start with the stuff I liked which was Argo City! I loved the idea that some part of Krypton lived on like the Bottle City of Candor only this time it was all of Argo on a space rock which is kind of hilarious. And of course the one thing Kara needed to save the Earth was what was keeping Argo City alive! I loved seeing Kara's mom alive and well and her reunion with Kara was sweet although a bit underwhelming cause I was expecting just more. More tears, more shaking, more emotion in general. I kind of hope Argo somehow comes to Earth at some point this season or next cause I can't imagine that the show would introduce this world and more importantly Kara's mom only to never touch on it again. I do understand why Kara had to leave right away (cause there is a Worldkiller on the loose) but it seemed kind of unlikely that Kara would be like okay bye and not even bother to ask her mom to come with them. I'm hoping this foreshadows our return to Argo.

Especially since it seems that one of the members of the council is the same priestess that's been counseling Reign. I hardcore didn't recognize her until the end of the episode when she donned her cloak because like I've said before I don't really like the whole Reign storyline so I sort of tune out when she comes on. I loved the scene where Kara had to beg the council to help and that they did after hearing her speech. I know I harp on the whole full of hopeful speeches thing Kara always does but I think it really really works in certain cases and this was one of those. I kind of also really liked that we touched again on who is Kara. I feel like the theme of this season has been for Kara to question who she really is and whether Kara Danvers or Kara Zor El is her real personality and that came up again tonight when Kara mentioned to Mon El how comforting it is to be around only him cause she doesn't have to pretend.

Speaking of Mon El, tonight was another episode where we saw how different this Mon El is but yet the same. He was so regal when he talked to Alura (and I loved that she welcomed him almost immediately unlike how Kara judged him to be a bad person just cause he was from Daxam) and that he was so touched by the sick child he saw. I loved that he returned the cloaks they stole and that he was able to cure that child of his illness. I kept waiting for that child or his mom to show up and tell Kara or the council what good he did as a way to convince the council to help but luckily it wasn't needed.

Sidebar I was kind of glad that this episode wasn't Kara and Mon El talk about their feelings in space like I thought it would be. Like I know they're going to get back together at some point and that in order to do so they need to talk but hardcore I don't want to watch it. I miss Kara and Mon El from last season when they were just this adorable couple.

I actually also really enjoyed the little bit we got with Lena and Reign tonight. I loved that Lena was struggling with whether or not to kill Reign as a last resort and whether killing one life to save the world would be worth it of if she'd become a monster. Personally if you've been following my Agents of SHIELD reviews or know my stance from Arrow, I do think it would have been worth it to kill one person in order to save the world. It was a very secret agent move and unfortunately one the DEO wouldn't make now that they work with Supergirl.

Now to the stuff I didn't like. Ruby Ruby Ruby. I was finally warming up to her last week but she went right back to annoying this week. And it's like I'm thrilled that Winn got something to do but babysitting a brat wasn't one of them. I hate how inconsistently the show writes Ruby to be. One minute she's super smart and the next she throws tantrums about missing her mom. Girl we know. Winn would have been the best person to talk to losing a parent on paper but in actuality I was so bored and actually cheering him one when he was being a dick to Ruby.

Another annoying storyline this season was the stuff with Alex. Despite this, I did like that it all boiled down to Alex wondering if she could be both a mother and a DEO agent. Now I don't think J'onn was probs the right person to ask (psst call Oliver Queen.) What I didn't like was that this part of the episode dragged on and on and I was so bored during most of it. I mean talk about low stakes. We all know Alex is going to be fine so why bother. I did wonder by  the end of the episode if maybe this was gearing up to Alex leaving the DEO (and possibly the show) and dude if I wasn't about to lose my shit. cause if Alex leaves the DEO that's pretty much a goodbye to her character as the show can barely handle it's few characters in the DEO.

Next week's promo looks like it'll touch on pretty much everything I was talking about slash hoping for from Argo City. Kara and Mon El will be going back possibly for good (at least on Kara's part) and a lot of the episode will probably focus on the question of whether Kara can be selfish or not cause if she stays on Argo with her mom then the Earth is vulnerable but if she stays on Earth, her mom who she thought was dead wouldn't be with her. I still hope for some sort of compromise like moving Argo to our moon or in our atmosphere or something. Since the dome functions to block others from seeing it through satellites, they could live anywhere around Earth without being noticed like the Inhumans in the comics. That way Kara can visit more often and not have to leave Earth unprotected. I also kind of wish Superman could come back for an episode or so cause he needs to know about Argo City!
