What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive in shall we?

The Irregular At Magic High School Season 2 Episode 10

This week is a little hard to review cause we spent most of it simply fighting the parasites and though it was all very exciting, I'm not sure whether it'll make a great review. In the end it looks like Miyuki destroyed all the parasites except for 3, one of which is Pixie and the other two went to the Yotsuba and the Kodou each. It's interesting cause I think I've finally figured out why so many people were spying on Tatsuya in the last few weeks cause in my mind I was picturing the fact that every one of the nine clans were Japanese so there was no need to fight other Japanese for the removal of these parasites but in actuality it looks more like every clan is out for themselves for the most part and each one wanted a parasite to study. I'll be curious to know if anything comes of this research. I guess we should also note that Miyuki used something that Lina described as Lunar magic and she seemed to think it was really rare and unique and it calls back to the fact that a few weeks ago we learned that not only does Miyuki have a release button on Tatsuya's full magic but Tatsuya also has one on Miyuki. Part of me wonders if somehow Tatsuya is supposed to be a clone of Miyuki or the other way around so that's why the two can merge so clearly. Lina also went through some stuff this week cause she's been struggling for a while to figure out if the USNA army is still where she wants to be after everything and though she didn't actually make a decision this week, Tatsuya did open her eyes to the fact that she does have more options.

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 7

This episode was insane if only for the themes that it presented and the ripples it made. On the surface level though we didn't get a prison break like I expected, we did have what amounted to a side mission in order to get Moff Gideon's coordinates. Cara freed the prisoner we needed to take us to an Imperial base in order to hack an Imperial terminal and every time we see how much of this world is still overrun with Imperials I am honestly so sad cause it really does highlight once again that this peace and freedom that we achieved at the end of Revenge Of The Jedi was barely a blip in the timeline. The New Republic really did learn nothing from the fall of the Galactic Republic and ignored the Outer Rim just as much so of course the Empire camped out there growing strong until they could take over and become the First Order! The irony of all this is that my musings on the Empire though important in the long term isn't even the biggest takeaway from this episode. Din took off his Mandalorian armor and then showed his face to a lot of people, and yet still returned to his armor at the end and this is so so so important in terms of this show and Din himself. Over the course of this season we've seen Din meet all sorts of different Mandalorians that don't follow the Death Watch creed like he was raised on and it opened his eyes to the fact that being Mandalorian isn't as black or white like he first thought. If this happened in season 1, Din would fully believe that he's no longer worthy of his armor and that he's failed but now we see that he's more flexible about the rules and I'm sure that this is the start of him picking and choosing which rules he will follow. It's also important to note that the idea of Mandalore being destroyed came up once again and we know from earlier this season that Mandalore shouldn't be likened to Alderaan cause Mandalore still stands and it adds more fuel to the idea that maybe once Din accepts that Grogu can stay with him, he'll go help Bo Katan save their home world!
