What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

FINISHED Stranger Things Season 3

So Stranger Things season 3 came out and I'm always continuously impressed how every season is just as great as the last. These writers seriously need to start writing for like every show cause they kill it with writing a great story every season with slowly growing characters who feel the same as before but also older and a little bit wiser as they age on the show as well. I love the world this show has built and I adore how every season all the characters start out at different points and investigate their own thing before all the threads end up at the same place. I did feel like maybe it was the shorter season but it felt like Nancy and Jonathon didn't have as much screen time as normal and that Joyce and Hopper's investigation was a bit silly cause it was the smallest thing that set Joyce off on a whole thing but if I had lived through what everyone in this show had, maybe I'd be a little punch-happy too. I still adore Mike and Eleven's relationship but it was kind of hilarious how this whole season was about them "broken up" and yet they still loved each other to pieces. I also loved Eleven's friendship with Max this season cause it allowed Eleven to grow on her own from Mike and become a little bit of her own person. I'm still a little confused as to what the Russians wanted with the Upside Down though I suppose they were looking for some sort of new weapon cause we're still in the middle of Cold War time period wise. It was a little weird that the show killed off Billy but I was always pretty meh about him and I have a feeling that Hopper's fine and probs just like stuck in the Upside Down or something cause I mean no body no death amirite? I'd also believe that he ended up in Russian prison as shown in the after-credits scene. Overall I had a great time with this season and I I still do hope there's more to come!

Young Justice Season 3 Episode 14, 15, and 16

The second half of Young Justice season 3 is back and though I was hoping that since we've spent like 13 episodes with the annoying trio of Halo, Geoforce and Forager that we'll finally be able to return to those heroes from the past two seasons that we love but I think after this week that's probs not going to be true. One of the struggles of having a gigantic cast like this show does is that so many characters get sidelined and it sucks cause I miss a lot of the older characters including the adult heroes. It also kind of sucks that this season is full of politics like government oversight on the League cause I feel like so many shows have played with this idea of the public not loving their heroes and I'm getting tired of it cause I watch superhero shows to get away from real world problems! I do think that this latter half will focus on the Judas Contract storyline with Terra acting as a spy for Young Justice while the League will be fighting Apokolips. We met Big Barda this week and I know that she's a hero from the comics who switches from the bad side to the good. We also seem to be giving Beast Boy more attention now that he's uber-focused on Granny Goodness but I'm sensing that his anger is going to become a huge focus which sucks cause I like the calmer Garfield. Also I want to shout out Garfield and Perdita who by far are the cutest couple in this show right now and one I didn't know how much I would love even if we didn't get to see them form onscreen. Episode 16 was hilarious cause it was all about all the Young Justice crew partnering up and I was living for Static continuously being like man I need a girlfriend. I'm also low key waiting for Wally to come back cause I still doubt that he died and I think he got sucked into the speedforce like in the comics and will pop out stronger and older but hopefully that happens before Artemis and William hook up cause I'm seriously getting those vibes and they freak me out cause he was with Cheshire before and ugh let's not swap sisters please even if Artemis's mom is like go for it girl.

Astra Lost In Space Episode 1

Honestly I bet you're surprised that this is on my list of shows that I watched this week cause I usually not review anime but ever since I started watching the 2019 version of Fruits Basket, I've been meaning to get back into anime and since the summer season of anime started this week I figured why not dive in. Now this show I ended up watching cause some of the anime YouTubers I follow were talking about it but I figured like with most anime, I'd watch it and probs not think anything of it or review it but I ended up really enjoying myself so I thought why not try to review it? What really attracted me to this show was it's premise which is pretty similar to a lot of shows with a group of high school students getting lost but instead of in the woods or on an island, they ended up lost in space and I haven't seen a lot of that so I was in. So far the characters all feel fairly one-note in that they are just cliche character tropes but I'm assuming that we'll get to know them more as the show goes on. I have a feeling we'll end up veering more into the slice-of-life genre cause it doesn't really feel like there's an overarching plot or some villain to fight so I think we'll just be following this cast around their adventures which don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with that! I do think the animation is gorgeous so far and I really enjoyed the way the show made you feel like you were actually trapped in space with Aires and the others with the complete silence except for your breathing and the breaking-up of Aires's voice over her broken radio.

Krypton Season 2 Episode 4

I'm a teeny bit annoyed that Lyta ended up reconditioned and that's why she's been doing what she's been doing cause stories like this tend to give a free pass to bad behavior. I would have preferred if Lyta ended up spiraling a little in her grief and having Dru take advantage of that especially but it feels like Lyta's got some sort of plot armor that the others don't have. Nyssa can make tough calls and get hundreds killed because her baby's been kidnapped but our angel Lyta can't chip a nail without it not being in any shape or form her fault. Ha maybe I'm a little more than a teeny bit annoyed about it.... It also seems like Seg still has Brainiac in his mind which you know sucks but also helped keep him from being reconditioned so now my question is can you be unconditioned? I do hope that with Seg on Kandor with Cor Vex and Nyssa on her way that the others won't blame Nyssa too much for what she did. Adam is still the best and I was living for his back-and-forth with Kem. They've got the most deadpan humor and I live for it. I do think it's kinda funny that Kem got no repercussions for being a conscripted Sagitari but I'm also curious as to why Kem never ran like Dev when he knows people in the resistance. Speaking of, I don't know why Dev didn't join the resistance either but I suppose he was just tired of fighting in general. Everyone's reactions to Seg being alive were so sweet and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The promo wants us to think that it's going to be the end of Dru but I doubt it cause it feels too early in the season to defeat the Big Bad already unless Lyta takes his place but I also doubt that. The funny thing about villains like Dru is that all it takes is one good shot to take him out and it's only ever cause our heroes are so against killing that it becomes a bigger deal than it is but with Seg having no problem with murdering Brainiac earlier and Jaina and Dev somehow being able to sneak past all the Sagitari, Dru's number might be coming up soon.

Agents Of SHIELD Season 6 Episode 8

This was a damn good episode and I'm over here casually on the edge of my seat not knowing what's up or what's down which is what makes this episode amazing! I can't decide if Sarge and co or Izel are the bad guys. So far we've been told that it's Izel and yeah she is the creator of the Shriek but who's to say what the Shriek are doing is all that bad? Like Daisy said, if Sarge and co are on the right side of all this, why not tell the whole truth to SHIELD cause it's not like having more backup will be a bad thing after all. Part of this is probs also a little bit of my bias cause I've been adoring Izel and idk there just seems to be a soft side to her especially when she talks to Fitz and Simmons about missing her home. Her reasoning for why Sarge is trying to hunt her also through up some red flags and wouldn't it be something if he was the demon all along and she was trying to get back home using the Monoliths but since they were destroyed last season, maybe the Shriek are attempting to build new ones? Idk that's where I get stuck cause I can't figure out what the Shriek are doing or why. It's also a little interesting that Izel took over the whole crew but she left out Fitz and Simmons and I wonder if that's just cause they were nice to her so she couldn't put them in danger. Down on Earth, Deke and Snowflake are now a thing and I'm low key so into it. We also still didn't learn anything new other than Sarge's family was killed by the Shriek and that's why he's been hunting them. It was also interesting that Sarge when told to pick one of his crew chose Snowflake and as it turns out it was because she was the only expendable one.

I'm sure next week Deke will be able to stop the bomb and I can't wait for Fitzsimmons to reunite with everyone although it doesn't look like we might with everything else that's happening. But please please for the love of everything can we find out what's going on for real and without all the vague answers??? I need to know who's side I should be on otherwise I'll feel bad for cheering on the bad guys!

Fruits Basket (2019) Season 1 Episode 14

Damn it all. The moment that this episode started I was fighting tears cause I realized this was Momiji's backstory episode and if I remember correctly the 2001 version killed me. This version was just as terrible to watch and I still can't wrap my head around what a horrible person Momiji's mom is. I will never understand how she could hate her own child even if that child was a zodiac cause first of all there's nothing wrong with turning into a bunny, actually it's quite cute and secondly, it's not like turning into an animal is painful for him or her so it's like why couldn't she accept it?? I understand being frightened the first time it happens but then after that I'd love the child even more. This episode really did parallel Momiji and Tohru cause his story just made her love and miss her mom even more and I completely agree with them that I would never want to get rid of memories, good or bad. It also reminded me like Tohru how little we know about the zodiac parents but I assume most of them must be absent otherwise why would all of our crew be so sad all the time? I think we also got a hint that Yuki was the child from Tohru's childhood who gave her the hat cause he seemed to recognize it but I'm curious as to what Kyo was so guilty about. It must have something to do with Tohru's mom cause he was weird about going to the grave too. Maybe that vision from a few episodes past where he saw blood was from Kyoko. Like he accidentally attacked her in his true form or something. Also low key the shipper in me noted that Uo and Hana mentioned that Kyo was into Tohru but they just said that Yuki was friendlier in general. Small victories amirite??

I have no idea what next week could be cause I think we're coming closer to the end of the 2001 version's batch of episodes and soon enough I'll have no more ideas of where the plot will go. We still need to meet three more zodiacs from the original and even then I think there might be more that we just never met in general. Maybe it's Kisa's episode?

xoxo Allie
