What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Anyway, let's dive right in shall we?

Special 7: Special Crime Investigation Unit Episode 2

Why is it that I always end up watching and enjoying anime that literally no one else watches?? This show is right up my alley of what I enjoy watching and though there are a bunch of investigation anime this season, this is probs my favorite of the bunch cause it is able to balance the lightheartedness with cool characters and a fun world. Seiji is still not exactly my favorite of the group but I appreciate that he can kick ass as much as the next person. We got to know the whole unit a bit more and learned that not only is there an elf and a vampire on the squad but there's also a dwarf and a homunculus which is totally fascinating! I still wonder if Seiji is not entirely human but I'm sure that'll be a problem for later. We also learnt that the Special 7 was a taskforce meant to take down the Nine but because they captured the leader, the Nine was disbanded and Special 7 was left floundering. I assumed as the Boss was explaining this that nothing he said about the Nine was true cause they're obviously the villains of this show and honestly how easy would it have been for the Nine to give up a random person as their leader and then go underground for a bit only for my theory to be proven true at the end of the episode where we saw that the diamond that Special 7 saved ended up back in the Nine's hands. Their goal is to resurrect dragons and honestly in this crazy world, there probs are dragons and I can't wait to see what happens!

Stand My Heroes: Piece Of Truth Episode 2

I'm still struggling with characters and which ones are supposedly important but with this being a reverse harem show, I suppose most of them aren't any more important than the others. The only problem (if you even want to call it as such) is that since this show is about detectives and there's clearly some sort of mystery happening in the background, it makes me want to pay attention and piece things together on my own the way any mystery does. Last week I wondered if Rei's parents' death might be the main plot but this week we met four new characters and the leader of that crew was making secretive phone calls making me wonder what he's a part of! Beyond that I was surprised to note that Rei's character shifted between the first and second episode and now she's a much more solid lead. I complained last week that she was too incompetent to be a detective and that she made silly mistakes that no real person would make in order to make her a damsel but this week though she's clearly not an expert, she's starting to move in a positive direction. I could actually see what the others saw in her: her kindness and strength and confidence was beautiful. I also loved meeting and getting to know Maki who's precious and clearly the most important of the Revel quartet we met since he was the one who was the focus on this episode. I'm such a sucker for romance that whenever I watch a reverse harem I find myself being like I don't care who she picks cause one minute I'll like her with one guy and the next another. I do have to admit that I did miss Aoyama cause he was barely in this episode!

Batwoman Season 1 Episode 2

Okay so this episode was a little better than the pilot which honestly was a snooze fest and I can't help but compare it to Flash or Arrow when it first started. I don't know what it is about this show but it just feels so meh to me. Maybe I'm still waiting for Batwoman to get her actual suit cause the one right now looks truly horrible or maybe I wish that this show hadn't started from Kate's origin when we've already seen her in the middle of her journey in last year's crossover. It definitely doesn't help that I'm not into any of Kate's supporting characters cause one of these Arrowverse shows are only as strong as their cast and like yeah not every show can have Flash's ensemble which is my favorite right now only cause they outshine Barry by leagues. Alice is still fascinating and I'm thrown with how quickly we're moving through plot cause she's obviously the season long villain right but by episode 2 Kate knows that Alice is Beth and Alice knows that Kate is Batwoman and Kate's dad is burying his head in the sand! What more is left to unveil? I did like the reveal though that Kate's new stepmom is not all that she seems and I wonder if she always knew that Alice was Beth and that Alice/Beth tried to reach out to her father only for the stepmom to get in the way and convince Alice that her father didn't love her anymore. I'm also curious about Mary as a character cause Kate really treats her as nothing and seems to just be annoyed whenever Mary talks cause she's a little less serious than Kate is but I still feel like Mary will end up joining the team cause at some point Kate will need medical help and with Mary being a doctor and all it just makes sense. Luke is still the worst and I'm almost consistently annoyed with him. Why does every show need to copy and paste the same exact tech person? Felicity was unique and Cisco was different enough but now between Winn and Brainy and Luke it's exhausting.

Hmm it looks like maybe next week we'll finally get the full Batwoman costume with the wig and red accents but other than that I can't really tell what's going to happen! Maybe we'll get a weekly villain to take the place of Alice?

The Flash Season 6 Episode 2

What a great episode of the Flash! I find that I enjoy this show more when it goes crazy and doesn't deal with street level crime cause there are plenty of shows that do that better! Part of me is a little irritated that Barry and Iris were so worried about Barry's sacrifice that they don't know that Oliver already made the same decision but it's always interesting to see how different Oliver and Barry are as people cause when faced with an impossible choice, Barry turns to his friends and family while Oliver looks inside. Despite that it was nice seeing Jay Garrick again and I actually really like Barry's struggle in deciding whether he still wanted to go out and fight when he knew that he might die or to hide and stay alive. Joe's speech about how people like them hear the call of duty was so poignant and dude he's the best. Part of me wonders if this is how the show will bring back Wally cause we know he's supposed to pop up this season cause if everyone's afraid that there will be no more Barry, Central City still needs a Flash not to mention that it would fit into the comic storyline perfectly. I would laugh so hard if this truly was a way for Grant to leave the show but in actuality I have a feeling that since Crisis is airing 3 episodes in December and 2 in January that Barry will "die" in December and come back in January leaving a month or so in which we're all like oh no Barry is dead! I did actually like the case of the week cause it's been a while since Flash had a good case mystery and it's interesting that the girl they saved is now joining the Citizen but I'm still not a fan of the Killer Frost trying to live a life thing and tbh I miss Caitlin a little. I also find myself not entirely caring about the supposed villain for this half of the season but his powers do seem kind of interesting in the way that I don't know what they are.

The promo for next week shows that Barry will tell the others about what the Monitor told him about dying which we all kinda knew but I think what'll take up the whole episode plot is that Bloodsport (who's real name I cannot remember for the life of me) will turn to Team Flash for help about that weird monster thing he created. I have a feeling that he'll realize that his powers are basically to control the dead in a way.

Arrow Season 8 Episode 1

We're back with our final season of Arrow and goddamn it but I'm going to miss seeing Oliver's beautiful face on my television screen every week. Now I have to admit that I was so mixed about even checking out this season cause though Arrow is my favorite Arrowverse show, I had been so bitter that Felicity wasn't in this season which of course was no fault of the show or the writers cause Emily herself decided to leave (a whole other can of worms cause it's like Emily you've been on this show for 7 years, why couldn't you wait another 6 months before you left??) She was such a core part of this show that I was afraid that the show wouldn't feel right without her but I was actually really impressed with how her presence was so strong (at least in this episode) while she wasn't physically there. I'm assuming that based on this episode that this season might end up being Oliver jumping from Earth to Earth picking up random things that the Monitor needs with the help of Diggle and possibly Laurel while we see old faces and dude I would be so down for this! I loved this world and how it was Tommy that became the Dark Archer cause of Thea's death and that it was Oliver who pulled Tommy back from the brink cause Tommy has always been a good person but like Oliver said, he and Tommy are so alike that they need good people around them to keep them good. I wondered why he would come back so publicly on this Earth cause it's like if he only had to steal dwarf star then why not do it secretly as the Hood cause it's not like Oliver's planning on staying so after he leaves the family will fall apart again so the fact that the episode ended with Earth 2 being consumed worked out perfectly. It was honestly terrifying to see and just gets me more excited for the crossover. Also I'm high key annoyed that we're still doing flash forwards cause no one likes them.

I still don't know what this season will be going forward but my theory on each episode revisiting a previous season of Arrow but remixed seems like it might be true cause we kept seeing flashes of the Hong Kong flashback from season 3 of Arrow mixed into the promo so maybe Oliver will end up on an Earth where that'll be his main goal. I think we'll also be figuring out what happened to Earth 2 and really ramp up the fear for the crisis cause it's like whatever it is has destroyed an entire world of people but apparently not the world itself?

Riverdale Season 4 Episode 2

This. This right here was the actual premiere for this season and I'm all pumped up for it! I love where all our characters seem to be headed and what this season will be about. It's interesting cause it doesn't entirely feel like there's some big mystery this season like there was in the last two but I actually think this is a good thing cause the best season of this show was the first before all the craziness and if Riverdale is returning to that it'll be for the best! I do suppose the mystery will end up being whether or not Jughead dies and though my gut reaction is to be like of course he'll be fine cause he's a main character, part of me wonders if Cole is tired of this show and wants to move on and tbh he would be the only main cast member that I could see leaving. I really hope not cause he's my favorite character up there with Betty but even the whole transferring to a prep school thing feels totally like a soft send off for him cause he won't be around the others except on weekends as he told Jellybean. Betty is still struggling with her mom and she and Charles are working together to take down the Farm which is very interesting cause I feel like we've skipped all the emotional stuff with how Betty feels about a half brother who's also Jughead's brother and FP's kid but maybe the show is just saving that for later. Veronica was dealing with more parent stuff but also low key applying to Harvard which is like you go girl and I liked that in the end she drew a line in the sand with her parents but as per usual I have a feeling it won't last very long. The most interesting storyline in my opinion was the stuff with Reggie and his abusive father which made me cry repeatedly and I'm honestly so glad the show went back there cause it was a throwaway line last season and I was like dude how is no one else worried about this?

The promo doesn't show any Jughead which makes me worry for him leaving the show stronger but other than that it looks like maybe Kevin might have turned on Betty because Polly shows up with a bomb attached to her so like how did Polly even know where the FBI was if not for Kevin? Also something something with Archie but he's always picking fights.

Assassin's Pride Episode 2

I really love this anime to the degree that this might be my favorite fall 2019 anime so far. Everything about it just works for me. I can't decide though if the relationship between Melida and Kuufa is supposed to be romantic or more platonic cause Kuufa definitely treats Melida as a child and part of her sees him as a parental figure with how she looks to him for the approval that her own father won't give her but at the same time she clearly sees him as a man. I would be fine whichever way the show decides to go. I do like that she hasn't seemed jealous yet cause I was a little worried that this might end up becoming a harem show with all the leads being female except for Kuufa but I don't think that will be the case here. I still wish we could learn more about this world and it's rules cause I still don't know if sharing mana is a bad thing for Kuufa and now we learned that there are different levels for mana and I'm assuming Paladin is the highest based on what the show said but Kuufa seems like a badass so why is his level only Samurai? Is that bad? Will that be another strike against Melida being a bastard daughter? Can only the noblest of nobles be Paladin? On the plus side I was living for Kuufa's dramatic ass who was like Melida hide your ability to use mana until the competition so you can wow everyone. I wanted her to kick ass so hard cause the poor girl deserved it after everyone was bullying her so hard so I was all about her winning that first competition and I know Elise isn't the bad guy and clearly cares for Melida but she's obviously Melida's competition in terms of family too so I want Melida to kick her ass too at some point. I'm still thinking that Melida will have some sort of special power or attack that'll come out and really make her a badass cause part of me just wants that for her but another part of me knows how these kinds of shows go!

Titans Season 2 Episode 7

This episode was so strange cause I was so into half of the show but the other half was so boring that I kept looking forward to it going back to the other stuff so I can't really decide if I liked this episode or not. First of all my poor baby Jason deserves better than how everyone is treating him. The poor kid is traumatized by what happened and rather than everyone trying to make sure that they're okay, everyone jumps on him about pranks that have been going one when it's clear from one look at Jason that he didn't do it. I mean the poor thing was trying to hold back tears and yet not a single person in the tower noticed him except for maybe Dick who was trying to ignore it and Rose who didn't entirely seem to care. I'm not sure I understand why it made him a little suicidal or why he thinks that he's the reason the Titans are fighting but I really hope that since Dick opened up to him at the end that this will be the beginning of a better and stronger relationship between the two cause I need Dick to be his big brother. I also loved the Connor stuff and what I expected to be a problem later in the season ended up being resolved really quickly with Eve helping Krypto escape from Cadmus and find Connor. She also apparently gave Starfire a crash course on what Connor is but I loved the small things like Kory knowing Kryptonian and when she and Raven helped heal Connor to Eve's shock. Ugh they're so badass and I really can't wait to see Connor interact more with the others now that he's okay. The Dick stuff was the part of the episode that I didn't love cause it was pretty much the same as last season with him running away and I still doubt that he actually killed Jericho. I still feel like he was inadvertently involved in the death but blames himself. I still really hate this show's version of Bruce and the more I see him the more I dislike him. On another note still no Gar screen time.

Next week's episode is called Jericho so I assume that we'll be returning to the past to see how exactly Dick used Jericho and why Slade killed him.

xoxo Allie
