What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 8

Last week I had mentioned that I was wondering what evil Akito could get up to with this beach arc since it seemed like Akito's big gambit with Yuki ended up giving Yuki strength rather than breaking him down like Akito wanted but now I'm starting to feel like Akito's target is going to be Kyo and I don't think I'll be able to handle that cause Kyo's my baby! These last few episodes have had this ominous feel to them so that even when something happy or cute is happening, in the back of my mind I'm anxious about the future. Akito's big plan as it seemed was just to isolate Tohru from the other zodiacs by forcing them to spend time in the annex with him cause he was jealous that Tohru was "stealing" the zodiacs from him but what he completely forgot until Kureno mentioned it was that Kyo was still with Tohru. This is interesting cause in Akito's mind Kyo is nothing more than a monster who killed his own mother so he's not even worth considering as a person let alone a zodiac but once he saw how happy the two were together as they built sandcastles and flirted on the beach, he got pissed enough to want to invite Kyo over to the annex with the others and this is what I'm worried about. I'm afraid something Akito says next week will break Kyo cause he doesn't have the experience ignoring Akito's words like Yuki does cause he barely spends any time with Akito. It's also important to note how confident Yuki was acting this week and how he seems to no longer be hiding his emotions but also that Rin randomly showed up at the beach but how she doesn't want anyone else to know she's here. Apparently she's been staying with Kagura and her mom after the hospital and seeing Kagura again made me realize that I totally forgot about her existence and it made wonder why she didn't go with the others. On the plus side Kagura's mom seems like another one of the good ones so there's that.

Stargirl Season 1 Episode 2

I didn't love this episode as much as the pilot but mostly just cause it was a struggle to watch Courtney act like the teenager she is and refuse to listen to Pat when he was trying to help. Sure it's not entirely fair of me cause of course as a teen these powers are super cool and of course she's not going to be worried about dying but like at the same time she should know that after getting hurt and knowing that these people killed Starman and the JSA that it's not all a walk in the park! I also can't help but wonder if the villains in this show will really end up being the Injustice Society or if it'll end up being the kids of the Injustice Society cause part of me just finds it so weird that these fully grown adults are going to be fighting and attempting to kill a 15 year old. In cartoons or in comics it's not a big deal but making something like that live action is just slightly skeevy. I did like that we saw that the Injustice Society do have some sort of evil plan cause last week I was like so what did they do in the ten years after killing the JSA but we still don't entirely know what it is other than the fact that they're testing it here in Blue Valley and that the members pretty much run every aspect of the city. It was also interesting how Courtney ended up defeating the member of the Injustice Society that's probs the scariest cause a mind reader could figure out who Stargirl is and by defeating him and putting him in a coma, her secret identity is safe again. Having said all that I was glad though that this episode not only gave us the full costume but also the mission for the season (hunting down every Injustice Society member) and dialed back the school shenanigans cause that was definitely the least interesting part of the pilot.

Legends Of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 14

This was the penultimate episode of Legends and I'm not entirely sure how I felt about it. It was fun to see our Legends in random tv shows having to act like the characters on them but at the same time I spent so much of the episode wishing our characters were the ones we loved. Apparently what happened after the Fates got the Loom last week was that suddenly they made the world into another one of those post-apocalyptic hell dimensions where everyone has to follow specific rules and life is terrible and I was really honestly confused by this whole thing. I think I was just thinking of the Fates from the Greek sense where they don't want to rule the world or control humans but I suppose this version of the Fates do. In order to save the Legends, Charlie put them all in tv shows and wiped their memories. Zari, Nate and Behrad were on a Friends-like show while Astra, and Constantine were on a Downton Abbey type show and Sara, Ava, and Mick were on a Star Trek parody. The most interesting part of all this was the reappearance of Zari 1.0 from our old timeline who took over the body of Zari 2.0 from our current timeline but in the end was given a whole separate body by Charlie as an attempt to convince the Legends to stay safe where they were. It was nice to see her again and part of me remembered why I shipped Zari 1.0 and Nate but the rest of me was ironically missing Zari 2.0 (alongside Behrad and Constantine) which was not something I expected when this season started! I really just want to shout out Tala Ashe for making the two Zari's into completely and noticeably different people! I'm going to be really curious to know if Zari 1.0 will stick around or disappear at the end of this season.

Next week is the finale and it looks like we'll be battling the Fates and though I'm sure that we'll win, I wonder if everyone will get what they want in the end. Behrad is already back and everyone has their old timeline memories but is Astra giving up on Natalie?

Tower Of God Episode 9

This week was a bit of a struggle to watch cause it highlighted how Bam is my least favorite kind of male lead. He's too naive to exist in this world where people are backstabbing left and right in order to get where they want to go and yet he's the one being like Endorsi no we can't be traitors when it's everyone else who betrayed their comrades. Poor Hatz was beaten senseless cause his teammates decided to run rather than fight by his side, and Rachel was close to death cause Hoh was a web of insecurity. At least in the end Bam stepped up and helped Endorsi win the game but I have a feeling he really didn't learn much from all of this. It also low key sucks that Team B is the one that ended up passing over Team A cause Team B was full of people who were looking out for themselves while Team A seemed to actually like each other but I guess in terms of plot development, it's better to have more backstabbers than friends in a show like this. It's also strange that Serena wasn't more upset with Hoh's betrayal cause he literally tried to kill someone which I feel like everyone is overlooking but she ended up focusing more on her own insecurity after seeing how much stronger Bam and Endorsi was than her and Hoh. The other thing to note is that we still don't know who wrote Hoh that note though if I had to guess I'd say it was either Khun or Endorsi. Khun cause he was the one to tell the Ranker that Hoh would be trying to kill Rachel in front of Bam and Endorsi cause of a comment she made about knowing something like this was going to happen.

Agents Of SHIELD Season 7 Episode 1

This new season of Agents Of SHIELD should really be called Legends Of SHIELD or Agents Of Tomorrow! No but seriously all jokes aside, I can't tell you how excited I am about this season cause I love time travel! I do have to admit that it was a bit of a struggle to remember what had happened in season 6 which came out a year ago but as the season premiere went on, all the important bits came back to me slowly. The Chronicoms are trying to take over Earth to make it into their new planet after losing Chronica-2 to the Shrike but to do so they need to get rid of SHIELD which is the only thing standing in their way and so they decided the most effective way of doing so rather than killing everyone in the present is to go back in time and stop SHIELD from ever forming. We landed in the 1930s and in a fabulous twist instead of killing FDR who would form the SSR, the Chronicoms are targeting Freddy Malick who is the father of Gideon Malick aka one of the founders of HYDRA. It's a super fun twist that our SHIELD agents will have to protect HYDRA in order to protect SHIELD after everything they've been through! In other news Enoch is alive as is May though whether all her memories are intact is the question and YoYo gets more realistic robotic arms but we still haven't seen Fitz yet! Deke is a lot more focused this season which is totally throwing me off and I'm going to be really curious to see what other characters we'll end up meeting as this season goes on. We already know that Sousa will be appearing this season but like what about Howard or Peggy? This season is supposed to be taking place in the Pre-Endgame timeline so if we see her, it'll be an Agent Carter-verse Peggy not the Peggy that Steve comes back for.

The promo for next week really makes me curious about whether our Agents will end up sticking here in the 30s for the whole season or whether we'll be hopping around. I mean say we kill all the Chronicoms that came here, will they just give up and move to a different target? Are they stuck following the Time Tides as Fitz called them and have to leave once the Tide shifts?

Harley Quinn Season 2 Episode 9

Yikes this show makes me low key feel like a terrible person for liking Kite Man and Ivy together! I can't decide if we're supposed to think that Ivy loves Kite Man or if she's just settling cause she doesn't trust Harley to stay. Honestly though Harley is probs the last person that you would think would want a casual relationship cause I mean look at everything she went through for Joker! She kept taking him back over and over and it makes me wonder what the real thing Ivy is scared of cause it's obviously not that Harley would flake. I bet it has more to do with the fear that if they start a relationship and it doesn't work out, Ivy would lose the one person in her life that has stuck around through it all. Everything with King Shark was hilarious too and the reveal that he's the heir to the throne was a surprise though I knew he was engaged cause he had said so in a throwaway line earlier this season or last. I died with the whole poop song that sounded suspiciously close to Under The Sea and it's high key hilarious that Kite Man and the others spent the entire bachelor trip on a boat fighting not to finish a puzzle cause they promised King Shark not to do it without him while Ivy and the girls went to the spa, partied hard, and killed a villain to save the day.
