Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive in shall we?
I'm not entirely sure if we got any more answers this week than what we had already known in terms of the parasite plot but we did get some important character moments. Lina and Miyuki ended up dueling in order for Lina to answer some of Tatsuya's questions which did make me happy cause Miyuki is a badass but always seems to be overshadowed by Tatsuya so when she not only gets screen time but time to showcase her power, I'm happy. I do think it sucks a little that she and Lina were so close in power but Lina did mention that she would lose if the duel went on so I'm not all that upset by it. What was interesting to note is that the control the siblings have over one another isn't actually a one-way thing like I thought cause Tatsuya was also able to give Miyuki's control back to her making me wonder if Miyuki was also experimented on but to a lesser degree than Tatsuya. Also interesting to note is how Miyuki mentioned that Tatsuya is starting to feel compassion for people other than her which is strange cause his programming shouldn't allow that which begs the question is he getting stronger than his programming or is Maya turning down the effect cause of some long game she's got planned? In terms of the parasite plot it seems that Shizuku discovered that the USNA were doing some sort of experiment on black holes and after this experiment failed, the parasites started appearing making me think that this black hole actually ended up opening the world to the alternate dimension Yakumo Kokonoe mentioned last week where spirits come from. We also learned from Lina that the parasites are defectors from the USNA which were probs infected by these spirits and turned into parasites. I'm still curious to know how/if this relates back to that group we met early on that is studying magicians and the ability to perform magic without CADs.
The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1
So we're back with a second season and if I'm being honest it was a bit of a slow return but that's only cause I had so many expectations for this season based on what I had heard and we didn't exactly jump off to a big bang. It honestly felt a little more like a midseason episode than a premiere and I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing especially since I was a little surprised that the showrunners decided to stick with their formula from last season despite the complaints. A lot of people had problems with this show cause they thought it was too slow and meandering and while I had similar agreements at different moments throughout the season (especially early on), I enjoyed the unique take this show had on the Star Wars universe and as the season went on, there were more and more interesting episodes. I mean I wasn't exactly thrilled that there was no real end goal that Mando had to reach but since it was so unlike any of the Star Wars movies or cartoons I've seen, I did want to give it props. I was even more excited with this second season with the announcements that Ashoka, Boba Fett and Sabine and Bo Katan from Star Wars Rebels would be appearing but I really should lower my expectations cause duh with this show they'll all probs just appear for one episode a piece before disappearing again because they're all big names and if they stuck around, maybe they will overshadow Mando. All that said, this week's major plot followed Mando as he traveled to Tatooine to find another Mandalorian that could help him figure out Baby Yoda's race but rather than finding a Mandalorian, he found a native Tatooine man who was wearing Boba Fett's armor. In the end Mando was able to get the armor back but more importantly as he rode off into the sunset we saw that Boba Fett was watching him!!
