What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back to the first tv show review of 2021! I hope you all had a lovely New Year and let's dive into what I watched this week, shall we?

FINISHED

Vikings Season 6 Part 2

I was honestly so excited to have the final part of the final season of Vikings back even though I knew in my heart of hearts that it was never going to be the same. One of the things this show has always done well is teach us that though our favorite characters like Ragnar, Lagertha, or Bjorn are beloved, in the end they're only human so we have to also learn to let them go. Having said that I was so afraid that this season we would be watching the fall of the Viking culture after we lost every one of our larger than life characters but fortunately though part of me did feel like Gunnhild with lamenting the loss of the Golden Age of the Vikings, I ended up liking the full circle the show took with how it all began with England and how it ended there as well as seeing where our final remaining characters ended up despite the whole bittersweet feeling this season. I suppose in a sense while we lost the old Viking way, the Vikings did live on as a whole. We lost Bjorn in the premiere and we all cried and his death was followed by Asa the last of his children with Torvi and then Gunnhild herself. I was thrilled when the Rus storyline came to an end cause I never liked it and it was nice seeing Alfred and England again though I wished the show would have mentioned Alfred's friendship with Ubbe and not just his first meeting with Ivar. Ivar died in England alongside Harald while Hvitserk converted to Christianity. Meanwhile Ubbe ended up finding what I think is either Canada or America with Torvi and they made peace with the native settlers there and ended up finding Floki which was totally sweet but in a nonsense sort of way that I can overlook cause I was glad that Flatnose wasn't the one to kill him after all. I've always thought that Ubbe was the most like Ragnar despite every one of his children having a different trait of his so it breaks my heart that this show never loved him as much as it clearly adores Ivar which is why I was honestly surprised that Ubbe ended up being the only son of Ragnar that lived.

FINISHED Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Season 2 Part 2

Wow talk about a complete and utter hot mess of a series finale. If you've been following my reviews over the past 2 years then you know that in my opinion this show honestly hit it's peak in Season 1 Part 2 and it's all been downhill from there. I can't decide if this is yet another example of why RAS really shouldn't be writing or producing shows that aren't miniseries cause between this and Riverdale we can see that he really can't build a world. I mean as much shit as Berlanti gets over his Arrowverse shows being cheesy or constantly more of the same in the end there are plenty of good moments to be had throughout and never once have I finished a season and been like what the actual hell happened here (except maybe with Legends but that's the charm of that show!) I think the problem with Sabrina has always been the problem and once you strip away the newness it is exposed. The show just could not find a way to balance the magical with the mundane and the fact that every season had to have a bigger and badder threat really just left us with too much plot and not enough screen time though I do have to admit that the show was more focused this season cause of the need to wrap everything with a nice bow. I'm not sure if any of this could have been solved if the show hadn't been cancelled this year honestly but I guess I do want to give a shout out to the fact that this show actually stuck to a Game Of Thrones style ending by killing off both Sabrinas without any chance of resurrection. I also suppose that our bittersweet ending is in the fact that Nick joins her proving that they were endgame despite Harvey being her canon other half.

xoxo Allie
