What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 1

We're finally back you guys and I'm so excited to return to this world! You all know that I'm an anime only girl and though I enjoyed the original Fruits Basket animation, it wasn't until the recent reboot that I got obsessed with this show and though I have been accidentally spoiled on a few story beats, all-in-all I'm going in fresh and excited to jump into new territory! This first episode back was a little slow and it was Yuki-centric which was a little rough cause he's not my favorite Sohma member to follow but at the same time I was just excited to be back so I don't have too much negatives! We met two new characters, Kakeru Manabe and Machi Kuragi, who will be joining Yuki in the Student Council next term and it's very interesting cause there seems to be a lot more to them than what we see at first glance. Machi seemed terrified of Yuki while Kakeru seemed to give off this vibe as though he hated Yuki even if he was acting friendly on the surface. My first thought was that Machi might be terrified of men in general due to some sort of abuse at home but I can't imagine that's true cause the previous president managed to interview her and select her for Treasurer so it might just be Yuki. I wonder if they somehow know about the Sohma curse cause I can't imagine anyone hating the quiet and shy Yuki that is present at school. There was also a lot of screen time given to Motoko Minagawa aka the Prince Yuki fanclub leader and it was strange cause I totally didn't think of her more than a comedic side role but the way the episode played it actually made me sympathize with her and wonder if maybe she'll end up having a bigger role in all this. Maybe she does end up with Yuki? Ugh this show is just so good and I'm already counting down to the next episode!

Tower Of God Episode 2

I'm really fascinated by this idea that Bam is somehow special cause he keeps getting lucky during challenges but I do hope that there's more to it than the fact that he's the male lead in this anime cause that'd be too cheap! This week he was able to pass through the water barrier just cause and though one of the Rankers noted that he must be a monster, I can't help but wonder if that relates to who he was in his past. Maybe he's not a Prince like I thought last week but somehow one of the Rankers in that he already climbed this tower and somehow his wish caused him to lose his memory and end up somewhere else. What we did learn was that everyone who climbs the Tower actually live in this Tower which is broken up into a residential area, the testing area and an area that connects the two and that Bam and Rachel might be the only ones not from here so maybe this world is the normal one while it's Bam and Rachel that come from some underground world hence the need to see the stars? We also met some of the main characters we'll probs be spending the most time with and two of those are Bam's teammates for the foreseeable future. I'm really into Khun but Rak seems like he'll get annoying quickly. Khun also seems to have more to him than meets the eye cause not only was Bam warned against trusting him too much but someone else in the Tower was like oooh interesting Khun is here.

Harley Quinn Season 2 Episode 2

I had to retype this review several times before I posted it cause I kept wanting to just be like assjdflksdfjajflweajffj all over the place cause this episode was peak comedy and everything that makes this show good. I loved that we finally met Babs and saw Harley and Ivy basically help her become Batgirl. It does answer my question about the mythology of this Batfamily cause like I said last week I was wondering where Dick and Babs were cause you can always ignore Jason and Tim but Dick and Babs are so important in the Batman lore that you can't skip them! I am worried now though that since Babs just became Batgirl then that means there might not have been a Dick Grayson though I'm hoping that he's just in Bludhaven or something and that eventually he'll show up to help. The whole college campus thing was so damn funny and I was living for how in character Clayface was with everything and how he became one of the most popular girls on campus in three seconds! It was also nice to see Kiteman again though part of me wishes that he would become more of a regular on this show and maybe hang out with Harley and her crew more cause he's hilarious. King Shark and Dr Psycho taking on the town was everything and it was even better when it ended with with everything they did having meant nothing cause Harley and Ivy captured Riddler and forced him to power up their base.

xoxo Allie
