Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 2
Though I did enjoy the season 2 premiere episode, this week's episode felt like a truer return to form for this show with the way it told a fairly lighthearted story at first glance but when you looked deeper, you saw how dark it actually was. The focus of the episode was on the kids and what their plans for the future were which shouldn't have been all that interesting but it ended up foreshadowing a lot of darkness. The way everyone reacted makes me feel like the zodiac spirits won't have the freedom to choose what they want but that Akito might tell them what they should do. A part of me looks towards the older zodiacs and sees that they do have a little more freedom than what I expected cause I mean Shigure lives out of the family compound and Aya owns a store and Hatori is a doctor but of course we know that Shigure has a special relationship with Akito so maybe he's not the standard and we don't know if Hatori always wanted to be a doctor or if he was forced into doing so cause the Sohmas needed a doctor. Kyo meanwhile is in a world of his own having been the cat spirit. I was curious after learning about the previous cat spirits as to why Kyo was allowed to roam free but this week it seems that the plan is for him to be confined until death after he graduates so maybe cat spirits are allowed to be out and about until they finish school or maybe Akito despite what we think is actually kinder than previous family heads and allowed Kyo special treatment. Either way we finally met Kyo's birth father outside of being a shadowy figure in Kyo's nightmares and he's just as horrible as we expected. It looks like Kyo's mom might have committed suicide by jumping in front of a train and Kyo's dad blames Kyo for it and is wracked with anxiety and anger but I love that Kazuma was able to stand up for Kyo cause despite everything, he's Kyo's real father genetics be damned. I also want to mention that there were a ton of cute Kyo and Tohru moments but the scene where Tohru opened up to Kyo about her anxieties was the most important cause it shows you once again why Kyo is the man for Tohru. He's the only one that helps her with her problems and because of that she is able to more than just her cheery self.
Tower Of God Episode 3
There's definitely something more to Rachel than we know and I can't help but wonder if Khun has the right of it about her. Why would Rachel leave Bam like he meant nothing to her when she could have just asked him to join her in climbing the Tower? I mean now we know that people are climbing the Tower in groups (even though I'm sure eventually they'll have to duke it out so only one person wins) but from the start there was nothing in the rules that mentioned that you had to climb alone. It also doesn't help that she beat the first test after she and two others slaughtered hundreds of people. We got more of Khun's backstory this week and I really feel bad for him though I'm not sure if we know the whole story yet. Apparently he loved a woman named Maria (who may or may not be his half sister which um ew) but she tossed him aside to be Princess and cause of that his whole family was either killed or exiled and I'm guessing that he's climbing the Tower in order to get back at her or to get his family pardoned. Part of him hates Bam for being the same naive person he was back then but part of him also wants to protect Bam cause he hasn't lived through betrayal yet. I was really excited that we finally are getting another test that requires fighting cause I feel like we haven't had any of that yet but I'm not sure why no one asked what happens if you lose the Crown Game. If you win you automatically get to climb the Tower but if you lose are you kicked out of the Tower or are you just returning to the staging area and taking the regular tests? I'm also still really curious about the sword that Anaak has and why not only does it sing to Bam's sword but whether she's a Princess too cause I thought that the type of sword Bam has (and in turn Anaak) really only belong to the Princesses.
Riverdale Season 4 Episode 17
We're finally back after a month long hiatus and it low key feels like we had a midseason break or like we're starting a new season cause it's been so long! Returning on a musical episode does feel kinda weird though cause I was more interested in learning more about our characters and where they were and where they would be going after the whole Stonewall thing was put to bed but instead we got a lot of screen time for our cast singing kinda subpar songs that I didn't know well. Unlike when a show like The Magicians did their musical episodes, the cast of Riverdale actually aren't that good at singing and the songs they pick are never ones I know so I can't even enjoy the musical numbers. Hedwig was the musical of choice this time around and as it went Kevin wanted to perform it at the variety show but Principal Honey thought that it wasn't right for school and honestly it's hilarious cause everything Honey does this season that's supposed to be ruining our Riverdale cast's fun is actually the most realistic things in this show. Of course a high school in a small town doesn't want a musical like Hedwig performed on stage! Of course a cheerleading team needs a coach who's going to be teaching actual cheers rather than just singing and dancing! I guess the more important news though is the Betty and Archie kiss and the fact that I'm pretty sure that they're going to become a couple soon. Honestly you all know I'm a Bughead shipper but maybe it's cause I watch so many teen dramas and I know that those kinds of shows likes to switch partners a lot so I'm not all that upset with this idea. I still think Bughead is endgame so if the show wants to play around with Barchie for a bit before returning to Bughead, I'm fine with that but I don't know if I love the whole cheating thing. If the two are really so into each other, they should break up with their current partners. In other news that weird videotape voyeur came back and sent hours of video that he/she took in front of random Riverdale houses to the homes of our Riverdale cast and I still think that it'll end up being Charles and Chic cause we're still sitting on what their sketchy plan was from earlier this season.
Even though we just came back we're going to be skipping next week so the next episode of Riverdale will air in two weeks and the promo really just shows more of Betty and Archie cheating on their partners and I'm just sitting here cackling and ready for all the drama and angst to come.
Harley Quinn Season 2 Episode 3
It was great seeing Catwoman this week but ironically I was glad to see her go even though she's always been one of my fav Batman characters! I think it just had to do with the fact that Ivy seemed to lose everything that she was around her but I suppose it was a good thing that she made Ivy think about who she was and what she wanted. It's been a while since Ivy got to do her eco-terrorism thing and though it's probs majorly chalked up to the fact that Ivy is a supporting character on this show, Ivy actually doesn't need to bend over backwards to do everything Harley wants and never have time to do what she wants especially since she's not actually one of Harley's henchmen. Having said that, I don't agree with Selina's take on Ivy's friends and needing to be solo cause Ivy's gone through a lot since this show started and I think she's a much better person for having met those she had and no one should have a say in her relationship with Kiteman cause if she likes him then that's enough. I did love though that Harley was finally able to see there was more to him than his initial lameness (as we all eventually did) though I'm not entirely sure if I'm down for the two getting married cause it just feels like it should have just been a joke but instead it's like happening for real! Everything that happened back in the mall was hilarious too and how Riddler caused the crew to go in circles for hours only to be like I actually don't want to escape right now.
