KDRAMA
FINISHED Catch The Ghost (16/16): "Catch the Ghost” is a romantic investigative drama about a woman named Yoo Ryung who solves cases with her overflowing sense of justice and exceptional spatial perception but always gets herself into trouble because of her rash actions. She meets the Wangsimni station constabulary chief, a man who avoids cases and seeks stability. However, he always ends up cleaning up after the problems caused by Yoo Ryung and holds the key to solving the cases.
The finale for this show just aired this week and it was as meh as this whole show was which is really sad when you look at how much I adore romantic investigation dramas but I just never connected with Ryung as a character so I couldn't fall in love with this show. We ended up catching the Subway Ghost after a whole lot of runaround and he lost his mother too but it was interesting that he never once in the two years he was the Subway Ghost realized that his mother was hiding Jin in her home. I liked the way he was shocked and not able to go through with the murder of Jin on that rooftop cause he was so shocked that Jin was calling his mother grandmother. It's either that or the fact that he realized that she wasn't all there in her head with the way she was acting. It was super sad that Jin despite always knowing how to get home and not tied down never attempted to go back to Ryung cause she was afraid that Ryung would abandon her again but I do think the final moments when she ran from Ryung were a little too overdone for the plot's sake cause Ryung was shouting about how she made a mistake and how she loved Jin but Jin left anyway only to go back later when Jin Seok told her the same thing. It was sweet though the moment that Ryung opened her eyes to find her sister in front of her. Ryung and Jin Seok also got together but still in the most meh way with the show deciding that their first kiss should be a place for comedy ugh. Overall I'd give this show a 7.5 / 10 cause I wasn't a huge fan but I did finish this drama though I don't expect to ever go back and rewatch it.
FINISHED Chief Of Staff Season 2 (10/10): The second season of Chief of Staff. The real political players behind the spotlight take a dangerous gamble. Super Adviser Jang Tae Joon heads towards the peak of power and fiercely struggles for survival. Jang Tae Joon worked as the chief aide to Lawmaker Song Hee Sub. He now returns as a lawmaker and achieves the height of his power.
I totally thought that maybe after Song and Sung seriously tried to kill Tae Joon last week that we'd get them through that but apparently Tae Joon's testimony and the photos that his cop friend took of Sung's car and the testimony of all the reporter's out there who saw Song get into Sung's car was not enough! I couldn't imagine why they didn't put everything out in the public by this week cause seriously the people must be stupid to be like every time the National Assembly is about to investigate something related to Song or Sung, someone dies or gets arrested or the prosecution steps in. How obvious is it that some sort of corruption is happening? Having said that I was thrilled when we finally took down both Song and Sung and that it ended up playing out the same way Tae Joon first got Song elected as Minister of Justice cause Song was way too confident and I've said for a while that without Tae Joon, he would have never gotten anywhere cause money is one thing but outwitting your opponents is another. I was glad though that Tae Joon came out with everything but I was surprised that he didn't go to jail too though I suppose the prosecution probs helped with that. In the end Jong Yul joined Sun Young's staff while Hye Won returned to being a reporter and Tae Joon got an offer to join the President's staff which is pretty damn awesome and it's a great setup if there's a new season of this show but if there isn't I'd like to hope that the President is actually a good man and he's not as corrupt as Song was. I went into this show hoping for something like The West Wing but instead ended up in a mess of corruption and I do wish there were more shows out there that instead of showing us what politics is probably like went the more idealistic route! Overall I'd give this season a 8.5 / 10 cause I did enjoy it a smidge more than the first season!

FINISHED Leverage (16/16): "Leverage" will tell the story of Lee Tae Joon, an elite insurance investigator turned scam strategist who recruits the best "players" in order to catch the real criminals who think they’re above the law.
Okay see now this is how you do a finale in which you wrap up the season long story but also leave a new thread dangling in case the show gets a season 2! I'm talking to you Arthdal Chronicles and Vagabond but mostly Arthdal Chronicles! I do have to admit that the finale wasn't as fun as previous episodes but mostly that's cause I preferred when our leads actually ran cons and because the villains all knew who our team was and their faces the cons were done behind the scenes. Having said that I did love the way Tae Joon outplayed the villains over and over again though it does suck that the American part of the villains managed to get away and I'm sure that not only was he the one to kill Joon Hyung in the prison van but he might just be the one who ransacked the hideout. I am a little sad at where we ended up leaving our romances with Tae Joon and Soo Kyung basically together but not but my Roy and Na Byeol ship was definitely not sailing cause it really does feel like Roy sees her as a little sister though then again Na Byeol and Eui Sung don't seem like they're close to dating either cause Na Byeol really turns him down all the time including the end when Roy basically outed how Eui Sung liked her and she made a joke to ignore it. Overall I did have a fun time with this show and I loved all the cons and if there's another season, I'd be super down. I'd give it a 9.5 / 10!
Love With Flaws (12/32):A romantic comedy about a woman who has an aversion for flower boys and a man who has an obsession with appearance as they overcome the prejudices against people with flaws. Joo Seo Yeon is a hot-blooded physical education high school teacher with a strong personality. 365 days and 24 hours, she is wearing her training uniform or jeans and sneakers. Because she suffered hardships due to her handsome older and younger brothers, she hates flower boys. Her ideal type is a “not handsome guy”. She will enter into conflicts with handsome Lee Kang Woo in everything. Lee Kang Woo is the chairman of boards of the high school. He is a man who is incredibly arrogant and is obsessed with appearance. He likes the attention of others and loves his looks. He spends 12 hours of his day to improve his looks. He has a flawless and handsome appearance. However, he has a secret that no one knows: he is suffering from past trauma. 15 years ago, he was overweight and ugly. This was when he got rejected by Seo Yeon. He had to change school after he had acute enteritis in the school bus. While meeting with a well-known psychologist, he realized that his irritable bowel syndrome disorder is connected to that girl of 15 years ago. He became the chairman of the school she is working at. She has changed so much, in the past, she hated ugly men and now hates handsome men.
I low key adore this drama so much now that we've pulled away from the type of humor I dislike. Kang Woo is such a little puppy and I live for his scenes with Seo Yeon. I'm glad that we've finally moved past her thinking he was gay and him thinking that she was dating her older brothers but it low key sucks that she keeps bulldozing him and not letting him speak. Not once did he say anything about being gay. She just made assumptions and broke his little heart and decided all on her own that he was the bad guy and yeah he then played along cause he didn't want to embarrass himself but it sucks anyway. I wish she would take a second and actually explain what happened back then but I feel like that'll be a much later plot point cause we need all the misunderstandings so it'll take her meeting up with the old classmates and having them tell her that he wasn't playing along with the bet for her to finally accept it. But dudes something in my heart twinged when Kang Woo asked Seo Yeon what he could do to make her like him. I was totally expecting a drunken confession from her along the lines of you broke my heart twice cause the girl is clearly still feeling some feels for him from back in the day cause you could see how upset she was when she was alone and looking at pictures of him. I also really wish that there wasn't a love triangle cause I feel like there's already enough story to fill the screen time and I'd so much rather see more from the brothers who I still adore to pieces. I love that the eldest is so good at playing seduction and that he has half the men in the city helping and that the middle one is so low key protective and that the youngest is such a little dummy. It's so sweet that the brothers get so upset whenever someone tells them that they don't look like Seo Yeon and it was a fun twist to see that someone Seo Yeon was dating got upset at the brothers rather than some girl getting pissed at Seo Yeon because of the guys.
Psychopath Diary (8/16): Yook Dong Sik was running away from the scene of a murder and got into an accident. After waking up, he had no recollections of his memory and does not even know who he is. He only has with him a diary that recorded the process of murders and mistakes himself as a serial psychopath killer. Yook Dong Sik, a 34-year-old employee. He thinks that he is a psychopath. He is so weak and timid that he can’t refuse anything at work and people at his office are using him. He became the scapegoat at his company. All his friends, colleagues and family are turning his back on him. He decided to leave this world and even wrote a suicide note. The place he decided to commit suicide is the murder scene. He got amnesia because of an accident at the scene and got the psychopath’s dairy in his hands. When he woke up, he thinks that he is the murderer. Shim Bo Kyung, a 30-year-old, neighborhood police officer. She meets Dong Sik when he has amnesia. The more she knows about his story, the more she finds an unexpected look in him. She wants to catch the serial killer with Dong Sik as a partner of investigation. Seo In Woo, 36-year-old, the director of the company Dong Sik works in. He is a cold and meticulous psychopath who lost his diary. On the day of his 7th crime, he met Dong Sik and things went wrong. He lost his diary where all his daily life and course of crime was written.
So we're halfway through this drama now and I've officially decided that I care next to nothing about the actual detective work that's happening in this drama. I'm here to watch Yoon Shi Yoon act like a cutie and land in the silliest situations. I was so into the episodes we got this week but I'm low key so upset that In Woo is so much smarter than I wanted him to be! Not only has he already figured out that Dong Sik is the guy who witnessed him killing the homeless man but also that he has amnesia and that Dong Sik thinks that he's the killer. This sucks cause one of my favorite parts of this show was In Woo trying to become besties with Dong Sik! I mean did you see his big shiny "notice me senpai" eyes when Dong Sik was talking about why a person would become a copycat? I do kind of love though how out-of-the-loop Dong Sik is cause In Woo is over here always trying to throw hints and they consistently fly over Dong Sik's head but I don't love how involved In Woo is with Bo Kyung's dad. Like imagine in real life if your father collapsed in front of some random dude and then he suddenly is spending all this time with him. I'd be like what's your deal man?? On another note I do really love Chil Sung and how he considers Dong Sik his boss and how exasperated/embarrassed that makes Dong Sik cause it's seriously comedy gold especially since Chil Sung isn't that much of a badass either! It is a little sucky that In Woo seems to be the only competent killer cause at some point In Woo will definitely throw Dong Sik under the bus and I wish that Dong Sik had someone to help him.
V.I.P. (24/32): VIP is a drama that seeks to find an answer in the secretive relationships we hold in today’s society. Jung Sun is a competent and successful career woman who works as a deputy manager at Sung Woon Department Store. Her job as a member of the VIP Management Team is to satisfy their top one percent of customers who are the special VIPs and VVIPs. Not only is she professional at work, but she has a happy household with a wonderful husband, Sung Jun. However, one day she receives an anonymous text message. It says that her romantic husband is having an affair with someone at the office. Anxious to lose everything she has, she desperately studies the office and her co-workers to find out the woman Sung Jun is seeing. In the course of events, secrets behind each of the workers at the VIP Management Team are revealed. Will Jung Sun find out the truth behind the anonymous text message?
This show makes my blood boil in the worst possible way but at the same time I can't look away like it's a car crash. I NEED Jung Sun to step the hell up and rip everyone a new one from her asshole husband to the bitchy mistress all the way to the skeezy VP and then walk away on top with power and a new handsome man on her arm. I was sobbing like a goddamn child for that entire section at the start of this week where we went through Jung Sun's miscarriage. It was absolutely heart-wrenching to watch and it just makes Sung Jun even more the devil cause what kind of a complete piece of garbage cheats on his wife while she's going through this? I don't care for any one of his whining diatribes about how she wasn't there for him when he needed it cause for god's sake he never told her so how could he expect her to help him?? Everyone from his friend to the entire VIP team knows that Sung Jun is a piece of shit and I really and truly just want him to lose everyone. I can't see him being happy with Yu Ri when this is all over but I definitely want Jung Sun to divorce his ass and I low key think she's going to end up siding with the new female VP. Having said that it looks as though maybe Jung Sun is going to drag the divorce out as long as possible to really stick it to Sung Jun and Yu Ri especially now that she found that Yu Ri was the one to text Jung Sun in order to break them up which hardcore I had a feeling might be the case. One of my favorite scenes from this week though was when Sang Woo told Jung Sun that she was going to be okay and I love that he told Sung Jun off cause she deserves to be stuck up for. Everything that Hyun Ah went through this week was also super powerful cause it required so much courage and I'm so proud of her for standing up against Bae and that the girls stood by her side but also Jin Ho who might be one of three actual good men on this show (with Sang Woo and Byung Hun.)
