Riverdale Season 3 Episode 8 Review

Every week I think that Riverdale could not possibly get more insane and yet every week it does and I love it. I struggled for a while to get into the mindset that after season 1 that this show was no longer a teen drama but has become this weird parody in which every adult is insane and the children rule. The midseason finale just happened and there was so much fun stuff.

Let's start with Jughead and Archie in Toledo where we finally meet Gladys and Jellybean. As much as I loved everything we got here (and it was defs my favorite part of the episode), I wish we had gotten more of them cause there's so many interesting things to unpack about the this side of the Jones' family. While I do think FP tries his hardest with Jughead and I have to remember there are rules with being a Serpent, half the time I feel like FP is a step away from abusing Jughead. I have enjoyed watching him go from an alcoholic to sober though during these three seasons and I wish we could get that from Gladys as well. Jughead mentions that he feels like Gladys abandoned him and she never really talks to him about that. She already refused to let him come to her in season 1 forcing him into foster care and it makes me wonder why she took JB with her but refuses to have anything to do with Jughead. It can't be that he's a Serpent cause he wasn't one until season 2 and it's not like she's living above board either. I also wish we'd gotten more of Jellybean because I'm interested in knowing what kind of person she is too. She seemed really excited to see Jughead and she seemed like a bit of a kid then but later she had no problem taking down Penny and she seemed super pissed with FP. I wonder if now that they're basically locked out of Riverdale if maybe they'll end up going back to Toledo to regroup so we can see more of the Joneses but I think that they'll probs just find a way to sneak into Riverdale cause I'm sure the whole border of Riverdale isn't secure.

Sidebar I loved that Gladys automatically assumed that Jughead and Archie were together now. It did lead to a really sad moment when Jughead and Archie said goodbye to each other cause they really are brothers and I still think it was so sweet of Jughead to drop everything and follow him cause Archie needed him. Also I loved that Fred was able to say goodbye to Archie and that he gave him Vegas. I wonder what storyline he'll get while he's outside of Riverdale. At the very least this season has shown us that our characters can survive when they're outside of Riverdale and apart so if our crew does end up graduating high school then we can still follow them.

Also I loved that Gladys found out about Penny hurting Jughead and I'm pretty sure she straight murdered her tonight. It was super badass.

Back in Riverdale at the Sisters we found out that Betty actually wasn't brainwashed like the others like we thought last week but was upping the ante by pretending even more. I loved that this happened cause I really didn't want her to go the Jughead route cause it was hard enough watching him spiral. I loved that she was able to sober up Ethyl and then was able to save herself through her own strength and bravery cause she didn't need anyone else to save her. I laughed out loud at the horrible costume she wore to be the Griffin Queen (which on what planet is the opposite of the Gargoyle King.) She also figured out what Hiram was doing and I'll get to that in a bit. I still think it's super weird that Veronica never found out where she was cause they're supposed to be best friends but the show did mention that Veronica thought Betty was at the Farm like Polly and Alice.

Veronica and Cheryl with a dash of Kevin and Reggie spent the episode figuring out what Hiram's evil plan was. Hiram bought up all of Southside to build a prison and strong-armed every man living in the towns outside of Riverdale to work in that prison where he's making Fizzle Rocks with Claudius Blossom and then testing it on the patients of the Sisters to figure out which dosages cause hallucinations and which cause seizures. He then gave it random people throughout the city and passed it off as a virus and then convinced (more likely bribed) the Governor into quarantining the city and not letting anyone in or out. See this is where things go completely insane for me. Prisons and bounties and being on the run as well as the Sisters I can buy but Hiram basically making Riverdale into Gotham during No Man's Land is where I draw the line! He was even planning on shutting down Riverdale High and I'm sitting here like so where are kids supposed to go to school now? And okay so he quarantined the city but that doesn't mean the government won't send the CDC to check on them. I was about to believe that since he owned the police force that he probably just blocked off the entrances and exits to Riverdale but after the call with the governor, now I'm not sure what's happening!

All that aside, I'm not complaining cause it makes for fan-freaking-tastic viewing. I'm curious to see what'll happen next and this season we have to be seeing the downfall of Hiram Lodge right? There's no way the show can continue with him just as Veronica's dad after he's done all this right? Last season they toed the line about what kind of person he was but now with the bounty on Archie and wanting to turn Riverdale into a city of sin, there's no way he can make it out okay! It will be sad in a sense cause he's such a fun villain and I've loved his slow 3 season build! I can't wait to see Betty and Jughead reunite and I'm low-key shipping Reggie and Veronica right now cause they have great chemistry and he's been there for in a way Archie hasn't!

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 9 Review

Well part 3 just happened and honestly I'm just glad this whole crossover is over. I did enjoy this episode more than the last two though part 2 was only just slightly less fun than this. If I had to rank crossovers, the first one (the two-part Arrow/Flash one) was a 3, the Hawk people intro was a 4, Invasion was a 4.5, Earth X was a 5 and Elseworlds was a 3.5 because it was better done that the first but not as enjoyable cause I still feel like characters were written out of character.

Let's dive in. I loved seeing Barry and Oliver acting like the villains tonight with knocking a big steel structure onto kids so that weird fake doctor now acting as fake Superman would have to save them. The best part though was when they went to that bar that was owned by villain Cisco (excuse me Mr Ramon) with bartender Gary (always love when he pops up) and bouncer Jimmy. It was funny that not only did the fake Superman take away Barry's speed but he took away Oliver's fighting skills too which led me to wonder why everyone in that bar feared them if they were clearly sucky villains! I did wish we got to see more characters pop up as evil versions of themselves (like where was Iris and Felicity) but it's always a pleasure to see Cisco play a different version of himself and he was my favorite tonight (besides Superman obviously.)

Speaking of Superman, I was so glad that we got more of him especially since this was the Supergirl portion of the crossover and I loved every moment of it. Tyler Hoechlin is an amazing Superman and every time he pops up I wish I could see more of him! He did an amazing job playing the villain and also playing Superman while seeming like two separate people especially when he was talking to himself. One of the funniest moments of the episode was when he though Kara turned into Cisco for a second in the Fortress. I also loved the idea that he was the only one able to hold and control The Book of Destiny cause though the show likes to do stuff to show that Supergirl is just as badass as Superman, in my heart of hearts I will always think Superman is the strongest DC hero so when there are things that only he can do, my heart warms the same as when Oliver gets the praise he should.

We also got a little more Lois and she was pretty brave to come over to Earth 1 when it needed help which is such a Lois thing to do. It was also sweet to watch Clark propose to her (by crushing the diamond himself lol) and to find out that they were pregnant. I was kind of hoping that Clark would appear at least once more over on Supergirl cause it still feels silly that the alien crisis they're facing wouldn't seem like a big deal to Clark though tbh I still don't entirely understand why Kara isn't going to Argo too cause if I was her, I'd want to be with my family and friends there.

We got some Alex tonight and learned that there was in fact an Alex on this Earth which means that pretty much everything from Earth 38 is here except for the Supers which in my head-canon I'd like to believe means that Krypton never exploded. I liked that Kara was the one to reach her cause it shows that despite everything their sisterly bond is the most powerful (and that it paralleled Oliver and Felicity's and Iris and Barry's relationships cause love is love no matter if it's familial or not.)

I'm not sure how I feel about this whole crossover amounting to basically a promo for next year's crossover which is Infinite Crisis and I wonder if the reason it was so badly written was cause they didn't care that much about this one as they do the next. Though I'm sad I didn't enjoy this one as much as I should have, I'm really looking forward to the next one and since nothing really happened here that will affect future episodes on a large scale, I'm fine with pretending it never happened. I am curious about what deal Oliver made with The Monitor but I'm sure that'll be like the first scene in next year's crossover and I just hope it doesn't end with Oliver dying or something cause technically of all the shows Arrow has been on the longest and who knows how many seasons CW wants it to have and if he did die it would match the future dystopian timeline we've been seeing over on Arrow.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 8 Review

Despite how I feel about the crossover this year, tonight's episode of Legends which acted as midseason finale was just as incredible as always! I had a ton of fun and I swear I did not stop grinning for most of it!

I've been enjoying the season so far and the world of magical creatures though I don't know if I like the idea of the Time Bureau containment facility cause it negates the whole purpose of Constantine on the ship especially not that Charlie is here. He no longer has to contain the magical beasts or identify them and though this episode attempted to explain why both he and Charlie were necessary for this season, I didn't really buy it.

But enough about that. Let's start with what happened. After Constantine broke up with Desmond, he never joined the Legends and because of that Sara died during the unicorn attack and then Zari was turned into a cat cause of the Fairy Godmother. First of all Cat!Zari was everything all episode and I loved her interactions with Charlie but especially with a half mad Constantine. I cannot tell you how hard I laughed when he talked about how soft she was and it kind of made me wish that either they would hook up or that the Legends would get a cat. I loved that the boys became this insane crime fighting group that shot first and asked questions later and that Gary took over the Time Bureau and that Ava went into a goth phase cause she was sad.

When they went back and stopped Sara's death they came back to find basically Charlie's Angels which was my favorite of the changes. The boys died cause of the Fairy Godmother and Sara, Ava and Gideon started working for Hank and I was living. They were tossing their hair and wearing these real sexy black leather outfits and it was perfection. Charlie tried to pretend to be Amaya and it went pretty well although Gideon apparently knew it wasn't her from the start. The third timeline happened when they stopped the Fairy Godmother from killing the boys and she attached herself to Mick who turned all the Legends into puppets. Their singing killed me and I loved how much Constantine hated it.

Overall Constantine and Charlie learned that they couldn't keep changing things and hoping that they would get the outcome they wanted and ended up resetting everything the way it was before the end of last episode. It was smart of this Constantine to mind erase Desmond to forget the awful breakup cause I was watching him crash and burn and cringing all the while! Zari and Charlie are now friends or so I think and Constantine told Sara the truth about what happened and of course Sara was like we'll help you cause she's amazing!

The episode ended with us finding out that Hank was behind the attempted kidnapping last week and that he's getting his orders from possessed Desmond which is amazing cause it not only keeps us from hating Hank but also puts possessed Desmond directly in the Big Bad chair which is one thing this season was missing.

I've really been enjoying this season and since season 2 Legends has basically been my favorite of the Arrowverse shows cause of how crazy and fun it is. It's the exact type of light that I enjoy unlike Flash or Supergirl and I'm always super pumped to see more. I can't wait to see what happens when we come back though I think we're getting a longer break this time around like Supergirl did last year.

Arrow Season 7 Episode 9 Review

Part 2 of the crossover was tonight and I'm glad to say that it was a little better than part 1 though honestly it was a pretty low bar. I'm still highly disappointed in the fact that I didn't enjoy the crossover last night because it seems like most people did enjoy it so far and didn't particularly notice or care about the mistreatment of Oliver's character which makes me wonder if I overreacted or if I'm just that protective of Oliver and Arrow as a show. Enough about that though and let's focus on the second part of the crossover!

Before we actually get into the nitty gritty, I just wanna say I loved the intro with Barry as Oliver and then the opening with Diggle fighting Slade's son (Joey I think.) It was definitely a weird pull but I liked it anyway. Also I'm going to skip talking about the stuff I disliked which was pretty much the same as last time with it being Oliver's characterization though I have to say it was so much less obvious over here on Arrow than it was on Flash where I literally had the thought about whether the writers had even watched a single episode of Arrow before. I did feel as though the pacing was better tonight and I'm feeling as though part 1 was pretty much pointless in terms of the story cause nothing happened last night that really had anything to do with the plot even if there were fun moments like everything with Clark.

So the main plot here was that the team needed to go to Gotham to find that weird dude who's name I've forgotten already to figure out what was happening while they needed Felicity, Curtis, Cisco and Caitlin to figure out what was going on with the lightning. I really enjoyed everything in Gotham  from meeting Kate Kane and Batwoman to the Easter Eggs in Arkham Asylum. I grinned ear to ear when I saw some of those familiar Batman Rogues like Penguin and Riddler and Poison Ivy but of course we didn't really get to see them. I also really liked the character of Kate Kane and what a dark character she was. She really felt like a Bat family member and I loved her interactions with Kara. One of the best moments of the episode was when they shook hands cause I never thought I'd see a Bat and a Super be friends in the Arrowverse. I also thought it was an interesting premise that Bruce and Batman disappeared 3 years ago and that's why he's not around. I wonder if we'd ever get an answer to that in her show.

I have to say though once again this all felt unnecessary plotwise even if I had fun. When I first heard that Batwoman would be in this crossover I wondered what could cause her to pop up but like Lois's appearance, and the answer was pretty much nothing. A good character introduction would have made her essential to the plot but instead the weird doctor could have been hanging out in any city for all the good it did to go to Gotham! Nora Fries was also hyped up to be in the crossover and also did nothing other than a cameo/Easter Egg.

We did get the return of Malcolm which was super fun as well as Diaz and Eobard as Harrison Wells Reverse Flash and I actually liked how they appeared to (I know shocker right? Allie actually liked something about the crossover!) It was fun that they appeared to Barry and Oliver respectively as reality thought they were the other person so the hallucinogenic toxin did too. The fight where they thought the other was their mortal enemy was beautifully choreographed and edited to show us what they each saw and what Caitlin saw as she was unaffected by the toxin. I also understand why it was Malcolm and not Slade who appeared cause Oliver made peace with him last season though I feel like he probably made peace with Malcolm too by the time he died.

We also got a tiny smidge of Barry Allen from Earth 90 played by John Wesley Shipp who popped into our world to explain that the reason shit was going down was that The Monitor was going from Earth to Earth to have the Book of Destiny used to test that universe's heroes and that in order to stop it they needed to get the book away from the Monitor and whoever he passed it to. We then met The Monitor who explained that a crisis was coming and that he was trying to find out what universe could fight it and I got very excited cause he has to be talking about Infinite Crisis right? The thing that Barry disappears fighting in that newspaper article right?? Either way it got me excited!

The last thing I want to mention is that we got some Oliver and Felicity stuff. I was super not thrilled that not only did everyone know that they were going through some stuff in their marriage (don't judge me for being protective of my couple after I had to sit through an hour of let's bash Oliver last night) but that Oliver didn't tell Felicity what was going on and that she had to find out from Cisco and Caitlin. Her talk with Caitlin was also not helpful cause their marriage problems really weren't on her. It was Oliver who had a problem with what Felicity had to become and I was thrilled that he was the one to tell her what I expected to hear last week about how it's okay if Felicity was changing cause he was too and that their love would never fade so they just had to get to know the new versions of themselves. I'm hoping that this is honestly the end of their relationship problems for this season cause I really am not a fan of it.

Also can we take a minute to talk about how everyone tried to convince Felicity that Iris could "feel" that Barry was actually Oliver cause their love was so powerful? What a load of bullshit. She was all over Oliver thinking he was Barry and even threw them in jail when they tried to tell her that wasn't true. Of course she realized who Barry was when he told her something only they knew the same as Felicity when Oliver talked about their relationship problems. Ugh this is the reason why there's a fight in the Arrowverse about whether Oliver and Felicity or Barry and Iris are the better couple!

Tomorrow is the Supergirl portion of the crossover and I'm interested to see how the world has changed and whether Kara will remember or not since she's technically not from this Earth. I assume that real Clark will pop up at some point and maybe that means we'll get more Lois. I'd also love if Batwoman came back but I have a feeling she probably won't...

The Flash Season 5 Episode 9 Review

Well the the first part of the three way crossover happened tonight and I really honestly was not the hugest fan of it. There was plenty of fun stuff but maybe my expectations were just too high because the last two crossovers were so amazing. Let's dive in.

Let me start with what didn't work for me because like I said there was plenty I enjoyed about this crossover but what I didn't like boils down to one thing and that's Oliver's characterization. I know that Oliver is pretty much always picked on during these crossovers because everyone likes to make fun of how dark and brooding he is and though most of the time I can ignore it, sometimes it gets annoying because if it wasn't for him this Arrowverse wouldn't even exist and I just wish that for once these crossovers would acknowledge that. I honestly think he's the best team leader of the group and the most badass but the crossovers never seem to agree but the writing for Oliver tonight was pretty much the worst I have ever seen cause it seemed like whoever wrote him had never seen a single episode of Arrow. One minute he's acting like a child and making jokes that Oliver would never be caught dead making, the next he's throwing a tantrum and screaming at Barry for being happy. It was the weirdest experience and I was not a fan.

The pacing for this episode was also not great. I know we normally have a few minutes at the top of the episodes to show us what's been going on in each show but with the body swapping thing that happened, there was no need to show us all that stuff with Oliver and Iris in the loft and then Oliver fighting and then Diggle and Barry and then them fighting cause we got plenty of fun mix up learning each other's powers thing later on in the episode. The reason we went to Kara was weak as well but I can let that slide. We also never got a reason as to why Team Flash suddenly turned on Oliver and Barry when in reality they would have believed them cause of all the shit they deal with on a normal basis. Adding to that, we never got a reason for why they didn't bother to let Felicity or the rest of Team Arrow know what happened. Like I said last week, it really seemed as though Team Arrow and Team Supergirl weren't a part of the crossover and though Felicity and Diggle are on the poster, I have no idea if they'll really be a part of this or not. Tbh if the crossover is going to continue to be as shitty as it is now, I'd kinda rather they just stay away.

Personally I think both Grant and Stephen did pretty good jobs playing with each other's powers though I kind of wish this was more of a Freaky Friday situation so that we could see Grant and Stephen actually play Oliver and Barry in characterization cause that would have been much more fun. Also sidebar but it was nice that Iris mentioned that Felicity called her to tell her about Oliver going to prison and that she mentioned that it was a shitty thing to do so we know it's not just Felicity overreacting. I'm assuming this will carry on with Oliver when Arrow returns after it's winter break.

Now over to the Supergirl stuff which I enjoyed. I loved seeing Tyler as Clark again and seeing him talk to Kara about what's been going on. I know that we can't have him appear too much on Supergirl cause then it becomes the Superman show but sometimes it just makes no sense for him not to be around and I kinda wish that he would pop up more during this season cause it seems silly that a season about anti-alien sentiment wouldn't have Superman around. We met Lois as well and I really had no thoughts about her cause she really had nothing to do in this episode and it makes me wonder if she'll be any more episodes or if this was it cause it seems silly to cast her and not use her.... As I mentioned before the reasoning to bring Kara into this mess was a little farfetched but so was the reason why Clark went along. A killer robot could have been handled without him especially since he went straight back to Earth 38 afterwards so it's not like he stuck around to help with the real problem!

Let's also take a moment to talk about how cool the Amazo was in live action and how I thought there was no way he would appear!

We didn't get too much about the Monitor but he looked pretty cool and I'm hoping that we get more of him in the future. I'm really curious about how this is all going to go down cause he seems super OP and I'm not sure how these 4 can save the day. Speaking of 4, our final tease was that we'll be heading off to Gotham to meet with Batwoman. It's an interesting twist that she's on Earth 1 and not some other Earth like we all assumed cause there's no Batman we know of on Earth 1 but there is one on Earth 38 so maybe she'll just take the place of Batman in this universe?

So far I've been disappointed with the crossover but tomorrow's the Arrow part so here's hoping that it'll get better! It's already been an hour and our heroes are just learning who the Big Bad is so the next two have to ramp up the excitement no? I'll see you all then!

What Dramas Am I Watching This Week?

Hey guys! I'm sorry that I skipped last week but I wasn't able to watch any dramas cause I may or may not have got obsessed with Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir so pretty much all my free time went to catching up on two seasons of that show. That meant that I missed all of the new dramas that came out but I tried to catch up on a bunch this week. So here goes with what I'm watching this week! Of course the list is split by country and episodes I've seen so far are written below! There will be spoilers from now on so if you aren't caught to the episode number on list, you might want to go watch that episode and then come back! KDRAMA

Dae Jang Geum is Watching (8/16): This food-oriented drama imagines how the descendants of the famous Joseon woman doctor and alleged culinary genius Jang Geum (the subject of the famous sageuk Dae Jang Geum) might live today if they inherited some of her talents. San Hae has been gifted with an excellent sense of taste which has mad him a huge fan and connoisseur of food. His younger sister Jin Mi has been gifted with an exceptional sense of smell, and their younger brother Jung Shik has such excellent cooking skills he has his own Youtube vlog channel. The story follows San Hae at his work and his relationship with a rookie employee at his company, a woman named Bok Seung Ah.

I have this thing where 90% of the time I feel nothing but this vicious amusement towards the second male lead for not being able to read situations correctly which you know might be terribly mean of me but that's what happens when you have your head off in the clouds. That's pretty much a roundabout way of me saying exactly how I feel here about poor dumbass Jung Shik who doesn't know that Seung Ah is head over heels for his brother and that his brother feels the same way. I understand that neither of the two are being open about their feelings so it's like how would he know but also she really hasn't given him any signs that she's into him either other than being friendly. I think part of this vicious amusement towards second male leads is cause they always just seem to have this idea that just cause a girl is nice that he deserves her affection. I wasn't sure at first how I felt about the main couple but as the show goes on, I'm liking San Hae and Seung Ah together. It's still one of my least favorite troupes when one of the couple (usually the guy) tries to hide their feelings when they know how the other feels. It never makes sense cause it's unlike if you're both single and adults, why play these weird games? You're not fooling anyone! My favorite couple though is still Jin Mi and Min Hyuk who are the most adorable and I kinda love how head over heels he is for her!

Fate And Furies (4/40): Even though Goo Hae Ra is smart and beautiful, she is in a miserable situation because of her family. Her older sister attempted suicide and her father passed away. The only way she can escape her situation is with money. She approaches Tae In Joon. He is the second son of a shoe company owner. Tae In Joon falls in love with Goo Hae Ra.

I started this show expecting not to like it since melodramas have never been my cup of tea cause they're always so cheesy and cliche with heroines who are complete pushovers but then I started to hear all about how amazing this show was and I finally decided to give it a shot and wow what a crazy four episodes! I am in love with this world already and I adore how badass Hae Ra is! Not only is she gorgeous but she's elegant and cunning and pretty much kills at everything! I am curious though about why Hae Ra didn't join a company like Gold Shoes on her own thing cause I know her circumstances are about the same as most kdrama leads (dead parents and a mountain of debt) but she's well educated and an amazing designer not to mention her father was as well so it's weird that she was struggling to make ends meet so much... It's also an interesting twist to have her actually be ambitious and actually set out to seduce the rich guy simply cause she wants money unlike in most dramas where the female lead kinda falls into it by falling for the rich guy. This show reminds me a lot of The Great Seducer which I'm down with cause I did enjoy that show! I'm already feeling so terrible for In Joon who really has no idea that everyone's out for him and just wants to do well at his job but honestly that boy fell for Hae Ra really fast so is he technically at fault too? I can clearly tell the story is going to go like she seduces him and he falls in love with her and then she falls in love with him but then he finds out she was using him and then shit hits the fan but the chemistry between are leads is so intense that the predicability doesn't bother me! I also think I really like the fact that the rich family problems took a backseat right now not only so we can get to know our couple without that eye rolling nonsense but also cause they will probs not be the main obstacle in the path of the main couple. This might be my favorite new drama!

DROPPED Fluttering Warning (11/16): A dermatologist, Cha Woo Hyun is extremely popular with women, but he doesn’t have much interest in dating. Yoon Yo Jung is a famous actress, who hasn’t been able to date another man since rumors started to spread 15 years ago. By mere coincidence, they decide to establish a contract in which they decide to “pretend” to others that they are dating and in love with each other.

It's actually kind of sad that it's come to this because I had been enjoying this show up to recently where suddenly the show switched paces immediately. Everything that I liked about this show was basically negated and all the terrible parts jumped to the forefront as well as the not go great parts of each character. Up to that point I was on cloud nine with this show and how adorably precious it was. I thought the show managed to hit the perfect spot of adorably fluffy and super romantic with amazing real compassionate characters all the while without feeling boring or like nothing's happening. I adored how cute Woo Hyun and Yo Jung's relationship was without it feeling overly cheesy and how both are just honestly good people who don't play games with their feelings. I wasn't even minding the whole rich people ruin everything trope as much as I normally do then episode 10 and 11 happened and now I'm utterly annoyed by everything. For once I wish that the evil rich people would make a plan that would actually make sense! In what universe would they think that announcing an engagement to the public would be enough to get Woo Hyun to do whatever they want? All he has to do is go out to the public and say that he loves Yo Jung and they're threatening him with destroying her and the only way they will stop is if he marries the rich girl and takes over the company. It's completely ridiculous. I also don't understand the breakup Yo Jung and Woo Hyun had cause on the one hand I do blame Woo Hyun cause I've been saying for weeks that he needs to tell them about his father but on the other hand she stopped him from telling her the truth the night before it came out so she can't blame him entirely! And seriously they're all worried about themselves and they're not thinking for a second about how Woo Hyun is just as much of a victim as all of them! My other question is why can't Woo Hyun go to his father and be like yo I'll take over the company if I don't have to marry rich bitch like he threatened and then once he has control over the company, give it to his brother or someone else. Once the father passes it on to Woo Hyun, he has no more say in what happens. And seriously can we take a moment to think about how terrible an idea that is on the father's part? Woo Hyun has never shown any interest in running a company so what makes the father think that if he forces his son to take it over, it'll turn out the way he's hoping? It was all too much for me and I fast-forwarded through most of it leading me to decide to drop this show cause I just couldn't sit through it anymore!

Memories of the Alhambra (2/16): Strong spirited Yoo Jin Woo is the CEO of an investment company with a degree in engineering and a knack for developing video games. He has an adventurous and competitive spirit. Suffering after his best friend betrays him, he takes a business trip to Granada, Spain in search of the mysterious inventor of an innovative augmented-reality video game. He ends up at a hostel that Jung Hee Joo owns. Hee Joo is a former classical guitarist who came to Spain to further her studies. After the death of her parents, she takes on various jobs to support herself, including running the old hostel. They are both drawn into a series of strange and unexpected events.

I had been wanting to check this show out since I heard about it a couple of months ago cause it was supposed to be THE drama of 2018 as in the one that everyone was talking about and that everyone expected to be the best of the year so I hopped into this with high hopes and so far I'm kinda indifferent. There's nothing terrible about this show but nothing stands out either. The first thing I noticed right away was just how large of a budget this show had which made watching this show a pleasure. It gives me a little bit of The Package mixed in with Sword Art Online vibes and I'm pretty fascinated with the concept. I had pretty much no idea that the show would be about a video game and though as of now that's my least favorite part, I can see it getting better as the show goes on. I'm also not the hugest fan of Jin Woo as a character so far cause he's pretty much the typical asshole male lead but I like that he's a charismatic asshole not just a rude one like most cold male leads are and I'm fascinated by the world enough that I can ignore him being an ass. I do like Hee Joo so far though and I'm really hoping that she learns the truth earlier rather than later cause I don't entirely understand why Jin Woo didn't go and tell her the truth about wanting to invest in her brother's game instead of making up lies to manipulate her. Not only does it seem like it would have been the smarter option in the long run but I'm hoping that with her learning the truth that she'll play a bigger role in the show and maybe even kick ass in the video game. I also was pretty into the year skip at the end of the second episode and I wonder if we'll be seeing both time periods á la Circle Two Worlds or if we'll have like half the show in the present and half in the future. I'm also curious about what happened to the programmer brother who straight up vanished and I wonder if there's a glitch or something in the game that makes it so the longer you play, the more immersed you get and the more immersed you get, the more you actually feel pain.

Sky Castle (4/16): The satirical comedy takes place in a four-story apartment building in the suburbs of Seoul inhabited by a number of professionals: doctors, judges, prosecutors, professors, and their wives. The wives are from prestigious and highly educated backgrounds, and part of the plot will feature their efforts to get their children admitted into universities. Some grew up in families with multiple generations of doctors or lawyers, and their ambitions will be depicted with realism and comedy.

Guys let me start by saying I'm hate watching this show. I despise the premise so much and so much irritates me about this show but I'm watching it hoping that by the end everything will fall apart for all these terrible people. This show is literally all about a bunch of over-involved parents who literally think children are useless unless they are at the top of their class and as though what college a kid gets into is a way to brag about themselves. My mother was like that and one thing tv shows and movies don't show you is how awful that makes you feel about yourself and how much it makes you despise your parent. Young Jae's mother was literally preventing him from sleeping if he did poorly and the poor twins' father is locking them up like animals to get them to do what he wants. I don't have anything against students who want to work hard and do well like Yeh Suh and I don't think there's anything wrong with extra classes and college advisors but it's not okay if a parent is forcing all that on a child if they don't want to do it themselves!!! And don't even get me started on that horrifically creepy Coach Kim. I'm pretty certain that there's something wrong with her based on how thrilled she seemed with everything that's happening and that she's got like surveillance cameras in Young Tae's house where Woo Joo and his family lives but I'm hoping that since she got so offended by Yeh Suh's mom trying to bribe her that she does have a moral code underneath all that. The only reason I'm sticking around is that I fell in love with the new family that moved in. I want Woo Joo to kick major ass and do extremely well cause he seems to have the only happy family that love him for him. I love that Soo Im isn't his real mom but Woo Joo loves her to pieces all the same and that she doesn't pressure him one bit over anything he does but I'm worried that their perfect little family will be sucked into all this drama and will end the show just as big of hot messes as the others cause that'll be really sad. I just want each of them to succeed in whatever they set out to do and maybe even convert others along the way like the twins' mom who already seems to have had it with her husband's parenting style.

The Last Empress (12/52): Set in an alternate universe, in which Korea is a constitutional monarchy in 2018, Oh Sunny is a bright and vivacious musical actress who marries the emperor. She becomes involved in the palace power struggle and a mysterious murder that sets off events that threaten the monarchy itself, while searching for true love and happiness. But, she ends up falling in love with Na Wang Sik who works as a bodyguard for the imperial family. He started working in the palace to take revenge on the person responsible for his mother’s death.

I was really looking forward to this drama cause not only do I love stories about modern royalty but I really loved Choi Jin Hyuk in Devilish Joy (even if that show wasn't great in my opinion) so I was curious to see what this show would be like. Honestly I started out with mix feelings towards this show cause I was expecting something much different than what we ended up getting but once I got past that, I've been enjoying each episode more and more. I was a bit disappointed to find that everyone was wearing costumes rather than fancy dresses and that it wasn't really doing anything to differentiate itself from any other historical drama but I'm actually kinda loving how fast the plot is moving. It's only episode 12 and not only does Wang Sik/Woo Bin know about Yu Ra sleeping with the Emperor and being involved in his mother's death, but so does Sunny! I was counting down the moments until they both found out cause now the real revenge story can begin and I was just feeling so bad for poor Sunny who'd been tossed into this mess and had no idea that the Emperor actually despises her and is in love with Yu Ra. I really want her to take this betrayal and instead of losing it on him in anger, going Wang Sik/Woo Bin's route and getting revenge on them by becoming more elegant and cunning. I would love it if the flash forward ends up showing us that it was Yu Ra who died with the necklace on instead of Sunny so that the world thinks that the Emperor murdered his wife making him live a much more miserable life than death with his lover gone and in jail while Sunny and Wang Sik/Woo Bin go off and be happy. It was super sweet how he took care of her hurt ankle and tried to shield her from seeing her husband with another woman cause it's clear to him that she's just as much of a victim as he is and I'm so down with their love story which is funny cause when I first read the synopsis I rolled my eyes since I do love arranged marriages turning into real love but since pretty much everyone is terrible except for the grandmother, I'm good with the affair! I'm not super into Sunny's younger sister and the romance she's probably going to have with the other prince right now but I guess it's there so that someone with humanity is around to take the Emperor's place after all the revenge is had.

FINISHED When Time Stopped (12/12): A man who can stop time meets a woman unaffected by time. Moon Joon Woo is a seemingly-ordinary person, except for the fact that he can stop time. His special ability makes him lonely and he finds no meaning in life. When he needs somewhere to live, he moves into a basement owned by the building owner, Kim Sun Ah. Kim Sun Ah is a hard-working, financially struggling girl who appears to have much joy in her life, but in fact struggles to pay off her father's debt. Joon Woo finds that when he stops time, Sun Ah is not affected and continues to walk amongst a time-stopped world. With bubbly Sun Ah by his side, can the lonely Joon Woo begin to find the meaning of his existence?

Like I said last week I really loved the idea of this show and I really love what it turned out to be but my problem was with the execution! I was so so confused for 90% of the show and then only in the final episode did we finally learn the rules of the world and what was going on! Joon Woo being a Reaper who fell in love with Sun Ah as a human only to watch her die and then get his memory wiped so he could wait for her to be reincarnated was super precious and you know how romantic I think reincarnated lovers are but I wish we had known this a little earlier on! Not only does it gives Joon Woo a ton more depth but it gives us more reason to adore this couple! We also learned that empowered people don't reincarnate unless they become Reapers and work off the sin of having powers and that once they capture enough empowered people, then they can reincarnate. I was so confused in episode 11 cause we didn't know this about humans and Reapers and I still am not 100% sure I'm understanding what happened cause it seemed super weird that the new God cared so much about destroying Joon Woo and Sun Ah since Joon Woo only had the powers in the first place cause the old God gave them to him and I still don't entirely understand if Joon Woo finished up his Reaper term and then became human or if he just left with the old God when he retired and he's only human cause no one higher up knew. I also wish that we had spent less time dealing with human problems in the beginning cause it seems like a whole other show back then that really added nothing to the plot ultimately! It was super cute though that Joon Woo and Sun Ah's love was so strong that it defied the Gods and that they managed to find each other over and over again no matter the circumstances! Overall I'd give this show a 8 / 10 and I'm not really sure I'd recommend it cause of how confusing it was so unless you can watch shows without needing to understand why things are happening, this show is probably not for you.

The Flash Season 5 Episode 8 Review

Who else was super excited for tonight's midseason finale that's also the 100th episode of the Flash?? I wasn't a huge fan of Arrow's 100th but I was hoping that Flash's would be more fun cause visiting old faces made more sense over here on Flash where Barry can time travel! It turns out that I might actually enjoy Arrow's 100th more which was a bit ironic but let's dive in so you can know why that is.

So the premise of Barry going back in time was the fact that they needed to create a magnet from Savitar's suit, the speed force injector that Zoom used and some dark matter from the first particle accelerator explosion. I loved this idea when I first heard it but it turns out that Barry and Nora really only spent time with different versions of Harrison Wells and Eobard Thawne which was super sad cause I was hoping for more interactions with the extended cast in general. In a way this episode did feel like a more of a recap than anything else with quick shots here and there to show us critical scenes from the past 5 seasons of The Flash. I think I hoped we'd get to see Barry talk with Zoom or previous versions of Team Flash or even seeing Eddie would have been nice or more Ronnie. Instead we talked a smidge to Harry who was in the middle of his angst about Jessie and a bit more to Eobard Thawne who actually I had a fun time with (and who I'll get to in a bit.) Zoom got a line which didn't make all that much sense in the course of the timeline cause why would he have come back to gloat after taking Barry's speed and Caitlin? It was sweet though that Barry originally didn't want to take Nora cause he was afraid of her seeing not so great parts of his past. What I liked was that she was able to see how much Iris meant to Barry over the years!

Now let's Thawne who of course was the most exciting part of this episode though I was really really hoping that we would have gotten the Matt Letscher version cause we already get so much Tom Cavanagh that it would have been more exciting and different to get Matt's version. If I'm following the timeline correctly, the Thawne we visited in the past was the 1st version that died after Eddie killed himself so the fact that he didn't know that Nora was Barry and Iri's child was a fun Easter Egg cause he name dropped Dawn which means his version of the future had the Tornado Twins (still not over the fact that we went with Nora instead of them!) The 2nd version was the version Barry grabbed as he came back to stop him from killing Nora (resulting in Flashpoint) and that version went on to form the Legion over on Legends and he died cause Black Flash grabbed him considering that he was a time remanent. The Thawne we seem to meet in the future is the one I'm not sure about. We met another Thawne on Earth X last season and we never got an explanation on where in the timeline he came from cause I don't know at what point he could have jumped to another Earth during season 1 which is the only time he wore Harrison Wells's face!

Speaking of future Thawne, the most exciting twist of tonight's episode was the reveal that Nora is working with him! I had a hunch that the person Sherloque mentioned to be telling Nora what to do was him cause in the comics Thawne is the curator of the Flash museum and since Nora spent all her time there, it only made sense to me that they would be close and that he might be able to manipulate her into doing whatever his plan is. I use the world manipulate cause I'm sure Nora thinks she's doing something good but Thawne is obviously not. The thing is though that curator story wouldn't make sense if Thawne had Harrison Wells's face cause Iris or the others would have known so Thawne wearing Wells' face must have been captured sometime before 2049 and locked up which then doesn't explain why Nora trusts him or talks to him in prison.... I can't wait to find out more and I would seriously love it if someone he became the Big Bad by the end of the season cause I'm already a little over Cicada tbh....

The final story that happened tonight was the attempt to capture Cicada. Like I mentioned at the top, our plan was to create a magnet that would attract his dagger and then send the dagger through a breech and capture Cicada while he was powerless. Honestly this was a solid plan but when the team enacted it, so much went wrong and didn't make sense! First of all, why on Earth would Cisco not send the dagger to another Earth (Earth X maybe cause we know it's already shit) or out further to space like another galaxy or into the sun! Sending it just outside of Earth's orbit was an awful idea! Secondly, why wouldn't one of the four people hanging out go slap a metacuff on Cicada? He can't use his powers to bring the dagger back if he has no powers! I was literally screaming at the screen to use metacuffs but nope. I did love that Killer Frost was the one to save the day and that she will be our ace like I thought two weeks ago after we learned about her powers and how she's not a meta due to dark matter. Cicada's terrified face when he saw her powers still worked was everything!!

Anyway overall this was a solid episode and a pretty fun midseason with the cliffhanger of Nora working with Thawne! I'll see you all next week for the crossover!

Arrow Season 7 Episode 8 Review

I liked almost everything about this episode except for one but that one is casting a huge shadow over my enjoyment of the episode which annoys me. Tonight was the midseason finale for Arrow but it felt more like a premiere than a finale with how everything was being set up for the future now that Oliver is out of prison.

Let's start with the stuff I didn't like and that was the stuff with Oliver and Felicity. As I expected, their reunion though starting out precious and adorable turned into a mess when Oliver found out how much Felicity changed since he went to prison. I was actually liked Felicity pulling out that gun and shooting their intruder but I wasn't a fan of what it led to. I know for a fact that Oliver and Felicity are not getting divorced or breaking up not only cause it we've already been down this path before but because every interview the cast and producers had since Oliver and Felicity got married was to say that these two are endgame and they're never going to break up again and in a recent interview Stephen Amell even said that their problems would be resolved pretty quickly. Because of all this I'm sure Felicity's arc is going from dark to back to normal at some point this season and the only struggle is that I just don't want to watch my favorite couple go through this angst. Their final conversation didn't exactly sound promising with Felicity talking about how she doesn't know if what she's going through can work with them but I'm hoping that since both love each other that Oliver won't leave her side the way Felicity never left him when he was going through rough patches.

Continuing on with the Felicity stuff, I still refuse to believe that future Felicity was building a bomb to destroy Star City and that she was a villain no matter how much the show wants me to believe it. I won't stop believing this until the season ends and there's no chance of change. It's also kind of ridiculous to me that everyone is so quick to jump on this bandwagon. Dinah and Zoe I could understand and maybe even Roy since he's been gone for so long but William knows Felicity! I did like the introduction of Black Star played by Kat who I loved in Shadowhunters and for a second I wondered if she might be Oliver and Felicity's daughter but I feel like the others would have recognized her if that was the case. I'm also pretty sure that's she probably not a bad guy either but on the off chance she is, I still doubt Felicity's involvement and at the very least Felicity was probably pretending to be on board to get intel. We also learned that Rene is still around in the Glades and I'm still assuming that Oliver is dead but I'm curious about everyone else. Where's Diggle at???

Now everything else about the episode I really liked! I was super into the idea that Oliver would join the SCPD as an unmasked Green Arrow similar to how Supergirl works for the DEO. It honestly makes the most sense cause now that everyone knows who he is, he can never really be a masked vigilante again. I really enjoyed the back to basics approach this week of Oliver trying to get intel by going around and talking to people like in season 1 cause as much as I loved Team Arrow and Felicity hacking everything, it was nice to see our crew do some detective work. I really do think the new showrunner mixed everything up and because of that I don't know if we'll ever go back to the previous status quo as in I doubt we'll truly see Team Arrow in a bunker again. I think Oliver and Dinah and Rene will work in the SCPD (with Oliver and possibly Rene in costume), Diggle and Lyla and Curtis in ARGUS and Felicity doing Smoak Tech stuff with all of them working in tandem when big problems (aka the Big Bad) come up.

As I thought the ARGUS stuff that seemed weird and out of place in previous weeks ended up tying directly back to Diaz and The Longbow Hunters. The painting that they found was actually a codename for money transactions paying for the Longbow Hunters. I wasn't surprised to find that Diaz was still alive but I was shocked to see that Diggle and Lyla were holding him. In hindsight it makes sense cause he can't bribe ARGUS agents but it's probs not a great idea for them to trust him. I do like the idea that they're hiding this info from the others cause it'll be such delicious torture when it comes out especially for Oliver and Felicity. I kind of want Lyla to put a bomb in him Suicide Squad style even if we're not supposed to think that's a good thing cause it's super dangerous to let him out and about without a way to stop him. I don't know how much loyalty the Longbow Hunters have for him but if there's a chance they could try to grab Diaz if he's outside, the better to be safe!

We also found out that the new Green Arrow is in fact Emiko Queen aka Oliver's half sister. In the comics she was Robert and Shado's child who started out as an antihero/villain to Oliver but then ended up becoming one of his sidekicks. We know that Shado isn't her mom in the show but Robert is still her dad so I assume that at some point this season she'll become Red Arrow to Oliver's Green Arrow since Speedy and Arsenal were taken. The only thing with this is that there's already so many characters in this show that unless they start killing some off or having some leave the show, it'll get really crowded again. I'm curious about her backstory and why she even cares about the Glades and I can't wait to find out more.

Though this was the midseason finale, I will see you all next week for the crossover (which sadly seems to include none of the Arrow cast as far as I can see from promos and unfortunately Oliver and Felicity are not in a great place so she'll probs also not be around to confuse non-Arrow audiences) but I'll also be back tomorrow for my Flash review!

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 8 Review

Can you believe it's already the midseason finale for Supergirl? I know we have the crossover next week (which I will be posting reviews for all three episodes) but I'm pretty sure it's not really canon in terms of story movement so I thought I'd review this episode as it should be. Overall I really liked the episode so let's jump in,

I do think that this season is well written and this story is a very common one in superhero tales but I'm really not a fan of it. Humans are the actual worst cause we're always terrified of what we don't understand and what we can't control and it's literally in our bones to want to make things "other" so I get why this story is so often told but I just don't understand how this story can end well. This isn't something Kara can just punch and make go away as multiple characters have mentioned in the show and I can't see see a show like Supergirl which stands for hope continuing this hatred towards aliens over multiple seasons like The Gifted but I also can't see a way for this story to end without it feeling like those terribly cheesy gun control episodes Supergirl and Arrow did before. For so many weeks I debated dropping this show cause I just didn't want to watch it and be sad. I watch tv to get away from the real world and objectively like I said this season is leagues ahead of season 3 but in my heart, I struggle to get through it.

I liked that we finally revealed Ben Lockwood as Agent Liberty but the fact that his arrest changed nothing other than making him a martyr was super sad and I'll be so beyond pissed if this somehow gets him out of prison. It's one thing to spew hatred and racism out but it's another to actually hunt and kill people and aliens are still people no matter what the Agents of Liberty say so Ben deserves to be in jail. All those people can protest away. It was smart of him to blame Supergirl for hurting him rather than explaining that it was a human who did it cause it doesn't fit the message he's trying to relay but I feel like there should be an easier way to get that info out like through the news or something explaining that it was in fact a human who attacked another human cause it might take some of the wind out of his fake sails.

It was a little weird to find out that Nia was an alien too this week cause though I've known she's a Legionnaire called Dreamer, I didn't expect her to be an alien though I really should have cause Supergirl doesn't really do metas even though there should be metas in this world if Batman exists. Sidebar but how do you think the Agents of Liberty feel about metas? Probably like Guardian right? Her powers are kinda weird too but it was super cheesy how she spend years not being able to control her powers and then suddenly be able to kick ass with them just when they needed it the most. It's also interesting that Brainy and Kara didn't tell her the truth about themselves. I wonder if the season would end with her going to the future with Brainy after all?

My favorite part of this season so far is definitely Manchester Black who's hilariously not that different from Oliver or any of Team Arrow but over here on Supergirl, he's a monster who deserves to be punished forever for hurting criminals and bad guys. It does make me roll my eyes a little cause the over cheesiness and wholesome goodness the heroes on this show need to have is one of the reasons that I never thought Supergirl was my favorite of the Arrowverse shows (ugh remember when Mon El was deemed the absolute worst just cause he liked to drink and sleep around as if that's the worse crime a person could commit?) but as the episode went on and he tried to kill Ben's innocent wife, that's when he started to become more of a villain than an anti-hero. I do hope this isn't the last we see of him cause technically he still hasn't hurt anyone innocent yet and I do think that this is one of those cases where Supergirl is going to have to get down in the dirt to get the job done so I could see them working together again in the future.

The end of the episode with Supergirl basically being fired from the DEO was a little sad but I liked it cause I've always thought that Supergirl shouldn't really work for the US government anyway. I wonder if she'll become a vigilante now that she doesn't have permission to be out in the streets or if she'll create her own team of superheroes and if Brainy will follow her cause I have a feeling this whole full transparency thing won't be great for explaining that he's not only an alien but from the future as well. Speaking of, damn I miss Mon El and I do hope that he'll come back at some point whether it's this season or next. I'm still waiting for our Mon El and Winn bromance in the 31st century episode!!

The Flash Season 5 Episode 7 Review

I wasn't the hugest fan of tonight's episode because honestly it felt like a retread of previous episodes and the only difference was that Nora was angry at Barry instead of Iris this week. It also doesn't help that the Westallen family are not my favorite part of the show which I know I know makes me a horrible person but what can I say? It makes me laugh sometimes that everyone always complains that Arrow feels like a soap opera literally anytime Oliver is happy (especially around Felicity and recently William) when in fact it's The Flash that feels more like a soap opera. Anyway enough about that, let's jump into the episode.

The main plot of this episode had to do with Nora being angry/worried about Barry dying. Iris mentioned how Barry sacrificed himself so many times to save the world and it made Nora realize that her dad disappearing in the future wasn't a one-time thing and that it could happen anytime. It was an interesting storyline objectively cause it not only showed Nora what it really means to be a hero but also it should give her more perspective on her mom's decisions cause if she worried enough about her dad to ask him to give up being The Flash, then it makes sense why Iris would try to stop Nora from being a hero too. I wonder if we'll touch on this in future episodes. Despite this, I was super bored during most of this episode cause like I said, we've watched so many episodes of Nora being upset with her mom that it's kinda boring to watch her be mad at Barry now. I am a little glad that this ended tonight and won't be an ongoing story thread though.

Caitlin, Cisco and Sherloque had a real weird storyline this episode too. Caitlin barely spoke and Ralph wasn't even around though I could believe that he went home for Thanskgiving if they only dropped that line like they did for Cecile and Joe! Sherloque managed to convince Caitlin and Cisco that Thanksgiving was a lame holiday and that neither of them had any family or any cause to be thankful cause their last year sucked. Although I get where Sherloque was coming from and why Cisco and Caitlin would be sad, it was weird of them to decide to skip Thanksgiving only to decide to go afterall in the end. It was super not needed in this episode. I'm still not understanding why Cisco can't ever go home to his family or why they're barely ever mentioned.

I did really like the backstory we got for Cicada cause it made me sympathize with him and feel really bad for him but it honestly makes me feel so much worse for poor Grace who not only lost her parents and then got super hurt but now if she ever wakes up, she won't even have her uncle cause he'll be in prison for becoming a super villain! I understand to a degree why he and the doctor hate metas so much (very similarly to the anti-aliens over on Supergirl) but at the same time it seems weird of him to target heroes like The Flash and Vibe cause without them things would be a lot worse! I'm curious about where this show will go now cause we've already figured out Cicada's true identity already but I guess it doesn't really matter in the long run cause last season Team Flash figured out who the Thinker was really fast too so it's not like they can't be thwarted anyway. I do wonder if he'll have a harder time attacking Nora or Barry cause he has a soft spot for fathers/daughters.

The stuff with Weather Witch was pretty lame and let's be honest, none of us watch this show for the weekly villains anyway though I did like her origin story about being a dangerous weather fanatic.

Next week looks amazing cause it's going to be The Flash's 100th episode which means we'll be bringing back a bunch of old villains and hopefully some old heroes too! I'd love to see Ronnie again cause he was mentioned tonight and it always makes me grin when he pops up cause I forever will be bitter that the show killed him off so quickly.
