Top 10 Asian Dramas Of 2019

And now last but not least, here's the returning Top 10 Asian Dramas list that I started last year! Again, this list is based on my personal opinions and may contain spoilers. If you'd like to see more, make sure to check out my Weekly Drama Reviews, Favorite YouTube Videos and My Asian OTPs & Ships as well as checking out my Top 10 Asian Dramas Of 2018 list!

First up in alphabetic order are my honorable mentions which once again are dramas that I watched this year but aired in previous years!

Hello Monster / I Remember You

First up on my honorable mentions is a kdrama called Hello Monster/I Remember You! Not only was this an awesome romantic investigation drama but it had the most fascinating characters with an interesting look at morality and what makes a killer a killer. I loved every single moment of this drama from it's humor to it's storylines to the romance to the bromances! The villain was so much fun to watch cause he was so much more than bad just to be bad and not once did our heroes need to dumb themselves down in order for the villain to outwit them. The ending was a bit of a letdown but all in all I had a great time with this drama. If you're curious read my full review here.

Kill Me, Heal Me

Next up is a kdrama called Kill Me, Heal Me which seriously guys if it had aired this year would without any doubt be my number one drama of 2019! I can never run out of wonderful things to say about this drama cause I went in thinking it'd be a comedy based on what little I knew only to have my heart ripped clean out of my chest. The main theme of this drama was learning how to process trauma and how to accept and be accepted. Every single moment was well written and well acted and everything we learned acted as a new piece to the puzzle. The main leads were linked from their childhood to the current day and for once a childhood connection trope actually felt like more than a trope cause it made the leads into the people they were now. The romance was so heartwarming and I could see why they felt like the other saved them. Click here to read my full review!

Love Me If You Dare

My third honorable mention is a cdrama called Love Me If You Dare! Honestly if you know me at all you know that I tend to find it harder to connect or relate to cdramas especially modern ones so when I do find a cdrama I adore, I love it more intensely! To no one's surprise or shock this one is a romantic investigation drama but what made this show so fascinating was the way it was written! The male lead was a bit of a mentalist so he went about approaching the cases we had differently than a detective would and the show felt so raw and real in it's exploration of mental health and mental illnesses. I loved the bond between the leads and how they never doubted each other no matter what outside forces told them. Once again the villain was so fascinating to watch and I thought it was fascinating that the male lead and the villain was basically opposite sides of the same coin. If you're curious, click here to read my full review!

The K2

Next up is a kdrama called The K2! This is probs a shock to a lot of people who have watched this drama cause I know that based on everything I read online that most people didn't like this drama but I truly cannot imagine why cause I had a blast! Besides the fact that Ji Chang Wook is a bias of mine, I just really enjoyed the story of this drama and it's portrayal of characters. Yes the female lead was a bit of a damsel and a little naive but would you be any different if you were locked up your entire life? I loved the connection between the leads even if I did think his interest in her came about too quickly. The villain was so much fun to watch cause she was an exact parallel to Anna in that she was who Anna would have been if she chose power over love which made her totally relatable! Click here to read my full review!

W: Two Worlds

My last honorable mention is a kdrama called W: Two Worlds! From the first moment I checked this drama out I was in love with how unique it was and though that's not exactly true anymore I will never forget my awe when watching this drama the first time around. I'm such a sucker for found family stories and that's what attached me to the main couple and their incredible romance which is a highlight of this drama. The one and only decision that he made without the help of the manga writer was to love her and there's just something so sweet about that. I loved the mystery of this show and how the villain kept the story moving and unlike what I've read from a lot of reviews I didn't think the way the story played out made no sense or came out of nowhere. I loved all the twists and the turns and the jumping back and forth between the real world and the manga and if you're curious, click here to read my full review!

Now let's get into my Top 10 list ranked from 10 to 1 with number 1 being my favorite drama of the year!

Leverage: Con Artists

Coming in at number 10 is a kdrama called Leverage: Con Artists! It's technically a remake of an American show but I actually never saw the original so I went in pretty blind but having seen this I might go back and watch the original! I love con artist shows and movies as you all know and this one unlike previous con artist shows actually managed to live up to my expectations. The overall mystery was well done, the weekly cons were so much fun and the main characters were all amazing. The only downside was that not only did I ship who I believe wasn't the intended couple but there was practically no romance to be had at all. I do have to say though that the ending was perfect in my opinion cause it solved our season long problem while also setting up for a second season unlike some other dramas where the season long problem didn't even get solved to set up for a new season which was so annoying!

V.I.P.

At number 9 is a kdrama called V.I.P. So if you know anything about this drama or have been following my weekly reviews you know that this wouldn't be the type of drama that I would normally be into or want to check out! I absolutely despise cheating and I'm of the mind that once a cheater always a cheater but I adore Jang Nara who plays the female lead so I had to check this drama out and I found myself falling in love. The cinematography in this drama is absolutely stunning and I loved the portrayal of so many badass females! The mystery about whether the husband was cheating or not and then who he was cheating with played out so beautifully that I was second guessing what I thought until the moment they fully showed us what had happened. I loved the way this show ended and the message that sometimes a happy ending is just loving yourself!

Arthdal Chronciles

Coming in at number 8 is a kdrama called Arthdal Chronicles! What can I say about this show other than it's like Avatar: The Last Airbender met Game Of Thrones and if that doesn't get you excited I don't know what will! The story is so well written and the world feels so real and lived in. Each character from the main to the supporting is so multi-dimensional and goes through their own personal arcs throughout the course of the drama. Everyone and everything was so gray cause there really aren't any good or bad guys as everyone was a hero in their own point of view and whether their actions were righteous only mattered depending on which side you were on. My only complaint with this drama is that despite having 3 seasons the story wasn't completed and when I was watching it I didn't know that this was how the drama was written so it took out of my enjoyment cause I was so furious with the cliffhanger we ended on.

The Story Of Ming Lan

At number 7 is a cdrama called The Story Of Ming Lan! Like I mentioned up top I'm not a huge fan of cdramas but when I like one, I REALLY like one and that's what happened here! This show was so unique in that each and every person whether a hero or a villain acted like a real human being and there were actual consequences to not following society's rules. It felt like we were watching a real documentary though a dramatic one! I adored the slow pace of the show cause it really made us fall in love with our characters and their lives and their loved ones so that we could understand how they grew and changed as people. The romance in this drama took a bit of a backseat to everything else which is probs my only real problem but again it has more to do with my love for sweeping decelerations of love more than bad writing!

The Secret Life Of My Secretary

Coming in at number 6 is a kdrama called The Secret Life Of My Secretary! I ended up loving this drama more than I expected to simply due to the incredible charisma of Kim Young Kwang cause on paper this drama had the most cliche trope-y story ever with a male lead who couldn't see faces and a female lead who was pretending to be someone she wasn't. Instead I found the most cinnamon roll of a male lead that I saw in any drama this year and his poor inability to use more than 3 brain cells at a time one of which was shared with the female lead. I loved that the male lead told the female lead the truth about his secret almost immediately cause it led to a them against the world trope and I loved that they were friends before they were lovers with no enemy stop. There was no love triangle, the comedy in this show was everything and I even adored the second couple!

Go Go Squid!

At number 5 is a cdrama called Go Go Squid! I know! Another cdrama and more importantly a modern cdrama! What are the odds?? I wish I was kidding but I truly don't know what it is about this show that won me over so much. I don't particularly like Yang Qi as an actress (I know, shoot me), the writing was all over the place, and the show had such a rough start with the female lead basically stalking the male lead but in the end I found myself impatiently waiting for new episodes and falling in love with the main couple. I adored the gruff male lead who was basically a cinnamon roll on the inside and his group of kids who were not only the best hype-men but also the funniest part of this show! I loved that the female lead was smart on her own terms and that the male lead learned to get over his past.

Extraordinary You

Coming in at number 4 is a kdrama called Extraordinary You to no one's surprise as this drama is a favorite among pretty much everyone! I was so excited to see another drama that was set in a manga and I wasn't disappointed. Kim Hye Yoon as the female lead was so spunky and adorable and this show would have been nothing without her! I loved her relationship with the male lead and I adored all of the side characters. The show was funny and sweet and tragic all at once. The only down side was that as the show went on the fact that there was no real villain or antagonist caused the story to drag a little and I think it spent waaaaay too much time on the second male lead when that time could have been used elsewhere. I love how the show ended and the way the story paralleled the previous one!

He Is Psychometric

At number 3 is a kdrama called He Is Psychometric! I told you I love romantic investigation dramas so why are you surprised? Though seriously I do think this drama was overlooked a little in terms of how many people watched and liked it! This drama lived and died on how charismatic Park Jin Young was. I adored that he was so silly but at the same time so kind. He and the female lead were a team from almost Day 1 and I loved the way they helped each other get past their tragic childhoods! The psychometry was a fun twist cause it wasn't too mystical but it gave just the perfect amount of uniqueness to the story. The mystery was incredibly written with not even one moment feeling like a plothole. Even the villains were fascinating to watch and the final plot twist really had me falling out of my chair!

Angel's Last Mission: Love

Coming in at number 2 is a kdrama called Angel's Last Mission: Love! What can I say about this drama other than it's practically perfect in every way? I was so attached to this drama from the first moment I started it and I loved the unique concept of an angel being charged to help a woman fall in love only to fall in love himself! The romance was absolutely incredible to follow and it felt believable in how the two fell for each other and how they became a team that no one could break up including the Deity! The male lead was so adorable and charming and the female lead was so preciously tsundere. My only complaints are that the second male lead was so creepy and I kept waiting for him to become the villain only to never actually do so and that the ending was a bit messy. I don't actually know why this couple was given permission by the Deity to be together compared to every other angel/human couple out there and I do low key think a tragic end would have fitting this drama better.

Her Private Life

And finally, at number 1 is a kdrama called Her Private Life!!! This show was perfection from start to finish and I do not have a single complaint about it which really tells you what an incredible rom com this drama was! I mean where do I even start? The male lead was multi-dimensional, understanding, mature, competent and oh so dreamy! I mean damn look at Kim Jae Wook's cheekbones! You could cut glass with them! I loved the romance between the main couple and how real their relationship felt cause neither character shied away from touching each other. The chemistry between the two was absolute fire. No awkward hand holding here folks! The childhood connection didn't bother me especially with the way it ended up playing out and I loved the way the drama ended. Even the side characters were fun to watch! If you haven't checked this drama out yet seriously what are you waiting for??

And with that I have officially wrapped up all my Top 10 lists of 2019! I hope you all have a wonderful New Year and I'll see you all in 2020!

Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019

Hi everyone! As promised, I'm back with my Top 10 Favorite TV Shows of 2019! Again, this list is based on my personal opinions and may have spoilers. There was a lot of great TV out this year so I'm going to start with some honorable mentions which has some shows that are still on air but that just missed the top 10 list! If you want a refresher, check out my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2013, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2014, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2015, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2016, Top 10 TV Shows Of 2017 and Top 10 TV Shows Of 2018 as well as my Favorite YouTube Videos and My TV Show OTPs & Ships lists!! Fair warning, there may be spoilers below so keep that in mind!

Up first are my honorable mentions: shows that did not make my list of favorites for the year but still shows that I enjoyed watching!

Titans

My first honorable mention is Titans! I was truly not a fan of season 1 of Titans for so many reasons but season 2 was definitely leagues better though in the end it did devolve into a mess which is the main reason that it's not on my top 10 list this year. The Deathstroke storyline started out so strongly and ended with everyone being confused as what we experienced but I think the major problem with this season was it's writing cause instead of letting the characters tell the story, it forced the strangest decisions for the characters in order to get from point A to B. Having said that I did enjoy a lot of episodes this season and some of the characters on this show are my babies so I couldn't help but shout it out. Dick Grayson is such a badass and I loved watching his journey to become Nightwing this season and I still adore Gar to pieces even though I will constantly wish he had more screen-time. If you're interested, click here to see more weekly reviews and content!

The 100

My next honorable mention for this year is The 100! This show is almost consistently one of my favorites cause I love the way the show looks at humanity and morality and how in times of war or crisis people will either hold firm to their morals or place the ends before the means. This season was very interesting cause we looked at immortality and were on an alien planet and I loved the way this show went so off the rails! I will never stop shipping Bellamy and Clarke (their actors are married in real life!!) but I low key wouldn't mind if they just loved each other so desperately in a platonic manner. They're two sides of the same coin and I adore that about this show. I enjoyed the villains a lot this season but I do have to admit that the ending sort of took the show in a weird direction which is why it's not on my top 10. Click here to see more in-depth weekly reviews and other content!

Now onto the Top 10 list which goes from 10 to 1 with number 1 being my favorite drama of the year!

Agents Of SHIELD

Coming in at number 10 is Agents Of SHIELD! This is just as sad for me as it is for any of you that are reading this and are fans of SHIELD. I just wasn't a huge fan of this past season despite how excited I was to check this show out. I'm afraid that this show peaked at season 4 and it's all been downhill from there. I really didn't care for the villains this year and it felt super weird to have Clark Gregg playing someone who wasn't Coulson which led to a feeling that the show was spinning it's wheels a bit. I did enjoy everything up in space though and seeing Fitz and Enoch together as well as the way the show used the Chromocons which does make me fairly excited for the final season airing this summer but that's not enough to push this show higher up than number 10 on my list. If you're interested, click here for more content!

Lucifer

At number 9 is Lucifer! This is the first time that this show has been on my list of top 10 shows but this season just gave me everything I ever wanted from this show which sucks cause the next one will be the last! Why save this show Netflix if you were just going to cancel it two seasons later?? I was so excited that Chloe finally learned the truth about Lucifer actually being the devil and I loved watching her accept that fact with all the grace of being a detective even though it was rough watching her dislike Lucifer and be scared of him. Eve was also such a highlight cause she was the perfect mix of naive and pure but mischievous and I shipped her so hard with Maze! The ending for the season was so much fun and I loved the cliffhanger cause it makes me want the next season now!

Gotham

Coming in at number 8 is Gotham! Technically this show came to an end airing it's final season this year but I wanted to shout it out anyway cause I adored it so much. I know so many people hate this show but I'm of the mind that I love crazy kooky shows and Gotham was exactly that. I don't need to follow everything closely and things don't have to be realistic or follow real life cause why watch a tv show except for a fantastical approach to life? I loved seeing where our characters ended up in the future and how everyone changed from the first day we met them all the way back in season 1. The whole No Man's arc was super fun as well and I will miss these characters so much! Click here for more in-depth weekly reviews and other content!

Riverdale

At number 7 is Riverdale! Riverdale has consistently been one of my favorite shows from the moment it started airing which is totally crazy cause half the time I don't understand what's happening but I can't help it! I do end up embracing the illogical story movement but at the same time I think one of the things I adore about the season that's currently airing is that it's a little more grounded in it's storylines so there's no insane serial killer out to covert everyone but at the same time the fact that each of our main characters have their own thing going does make the show feel a smidge less cohesive. Betty and Jughead of course are still my favorite characters and my favorite ship on the show with Cheryl being the least interesting and the one I could live without in general and it doesn't help that her story this season has been so completely insane. If you're interested, click here for more in depth reviews and other content!

Brooklyn Nine Nine

Coming in at number 6 is Brooklyn Nine Nine! This is another show that I have been almost religiously watching since it started though I don't think I've ever had it on a previous top 10 list but I just couldn't keep it out of my head as I tried to think of my favorite shows of the year! This show has everything from amazing characters to great comedy to a fantastic way of looking at such intense deep topics in a comedic manner while refusing to undercut them or make them sillier than they were. Jake and Amy have one of the healthiest relationships I've almost ever seen on tv and I love how almost every character is the opposite of the trope you would expect! Jake despite being the "cool" one is best friends with Charles rather than someone who makes fun of the dork and Amy despite being a Latina is the teacher's pet rather than the tough one and Holt is just all kinds of incredible with his dry wit. If you're not watching this show, you're seriously missing out!

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

At number 5 is The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina! So technically this might be cheating cause it was only the second half of season 1 that aired this year but I just loved this show so much that I had to thrown it on my list! I remember loving Sabrina The Teenage Witch when I was a kid so I was excited to see this new dark version and it's pretty much everything I could want! It's so dark and creepy and fun that I just can't put it into words. I love the world this show has built and all the characters we've gotten and the magical plots we have to deal with every week. The only thing I'm not a fan of is Sabrina's human friends who are super annoying tbh and the ironic thing is that though I adore Ross Lynch from Austin & Ally, my ship in this show is between Nick and Sabrina which low key sucks cause Sabrina is with Harvey in most canon so I know I'm going to be heartbroken!

Fruits Basket

Coming in at number 4 is Fruits Basket 2019! I refuse to call shenanigans on this being my number 4 cause it's my list and I make the rules so I say that an anime can be on my list of favorite tv shows. This is mostly cause I don't think I watched enough anime this year to make a top 10 and I just adored this anime to pieces so I couldn't help but want to shout it out! It's technically a remake of the 2001 version of this show which is an adaptation of a manga but I never really liked the original version of the anime so I started this one with high doubts only to be stunned with what I watched. Fruits Basket is so unique cause it takes what should be a run-of-the-mill shoujo anime and makes it into this deep and meaningful look at friendship and family and abuse and torture and what it means to love someone. There's humor and romance and tears and everything you could possibly want! Click here for more in-depth weekly reviews and other content!

The Magicians

At number 3 is The Magicians! Ugh lord I could gush about this show for days and days and I really wish people would stop sleeping on this incredible show cause it's absolute perfection. I've said before that it's like Harry Potter meets Narnia but that doesn't even cover the scope of how unique and fun this show is. Every single character is so multi-dimensional and they go through these wonderful arcs each season. I love that there's so much diversity in the cast from race to sex to sexual orientation though I do have to admit that this past season had a controversial finale which I was completely against for different reasons that most of the public did but I don't want to throw this show away cause everything else is perfect. It's meta in the funniest ways, it looks at such deep and dark topics without smacking you in the face about it and it just lets you have fun by kicking back, turning off your brain and diving into this world of magic!

Legends Of Tomorrow

Coming in at number 2 is Legends Of Tomorrow! I mean you had to have seen this coming by now right? So many of the shows that I love are so insane and that's because I prefer my tv to be entertaining and escapism so yes give me time travel and crazy plots and fun musical numbers and magic and demons and clones! This past season might have been one of the best this show has had and I feel so bad for anyone who only checked out the first season of this show and dropped it cause none of the seasons that followed the first were anything like the first! Sara is the most perfect human and I fell in love with Zari this past season and oddly enough her romance with Nate which I didn't think I needed but I think I'm just a sucker for tragedy so as soon as they threw reality wiping into the mix, I was sold! I will watch a million seasons of this show and so should you! If you're interested, click here for more weekly in depth reviews and other content!

Arrow

And finally, at number 1 is Arrow! I mean you had to have seen this coming right? I'm sorry that it's not more of a surprise twist but this is the final year that Arrow is airing so maybe next year we can try for something new! Oh god this show is ending this year and I don't know what to do with myself! Arrow was THE show that got me to fall back in love with superhero tv shows cause I used to watch all the animated ones back in the day but I fell off of them until I watched Arrow. Stephen Amell just kills it every single week as Oliver Queen the most perfect broody hero that has ever hero-ed. This last season was such a lovely goodbye to this show and the character Oliver Queen though I'll never not be bitter that Emily Bett Rickards decided that this was the year she wasn't going to appear on this show even though it was the last! I loved seeing Oliver and Diggle spend one last adventure together and for Oliver to meet his future children and show the world why he's the one that started it all so don't forget to click here for more weekly reviews and other content!

So that concludes my Top 10 TV Shows Of 2019 list and I'll see you all tomorrow for my list of Top 10 Asian Dramas Of 2019!

Top 10 Movies Of 2019

Hello all my lovelies! I hope you all had a great holiday season and now it's that time of year again where I list my favorite movies and tv shows of the year! I've been doing these for about six years now so you should know the drill but if you don't, I'm going to be listing my Top 10 Movies of 2019 from 10 to 1 with number 1 being my favorite movie of the year! If you're interested, I also have Top 10 Movies of 2013Top 10 Movies of 2014Top 10 Movies of 2015Top 10 Movies of 2016, and Top 10 Movies of 2017, and Top 10 Movies Of 2018 as well as my Favorite YouTube Videos and My Movie OTPs & Ships lists! Anyway, let's get right to it with our top 10!

The Lion King

Coming in at number 10 is Lion King! Disney live-action movies are kind of like a coin toss. Sometimes they're amazing and sometimes they're terrible and unfortunately this one landed closer to the terrible side than the amazing one like Beauty And The Beast. Part of the problem was that Lion King is one of my most adored Disney animated movies so the fact that the "live action" version was basically a shot-for-shot remake really lended to the fact that the original was just so much better! It was hard to see any emotions in the photo-realistic animals and tbh most of the voice cast wasn't strong enough to show us those emotions and I'll never not be bitter that they decided to make Be Prepared which is one of the best Disney villain numbers into a spoken version! Having said that it was a fun enough jaunt and paired with the fact that I didn't watch that many movies this year, that's why it ended up on my list.

Shazam

At number 9 is Shazam! Is this a surprise? I know a ton of people adored this movie but honestly I think it was too safe if that makes sense cause I just felt meh during most of it. I like the concept and I like the uniqueness of the origin story and how most of the movie was just Billy being silly before he finally had to fight the villain but it all felt like something I'd seen before even if in fact it was more unique than most superhero movies. Having said that I did enjoy the villain and his fall into villainy totally made sense and I loved that the theme of the movie was about family so we got the entire Marvel Family.

Captain Marvel

Coming in at number 8 is Captain Marvel! Maybe this is unfair but like Shazam I was meh during most of this movie. I liked the plot of this movie and how it used Nick Fury and that we got to experience more alien worlds but Carol was just so boring as a lead. The entire movie everyone kept telling her to watch her emotions and all we got from Carol was a stoic face and I was sitting there like dude what emotions?? I loved Jude Law and was totally crushed when his character became the epitome of douche-y sexist bro but I was also low key bitter that the movie decided to switch things up and have the Skrulls be the good guys rather than the slightly better than Kree version in the comics. Having said that I do have to admit that I thought it was creative the way the movie went about showing us Carol's origin story through a case of amnesia and basically going backwards through her life and of course her powers are the damn coolest so there's that.

Knives Out

At number 7 is Knives Out! Dudes you know my love for murder mysteries and somehow this one almost squeaked by without me knowing about it but as soon as I realized that it was one, I was all in and I have to admit that I was low key disappointed by the whole thing... I didn't love that the story started as a series of flashbacks rather than us seeing the party sequentially which I know was probs the movie trying to be creative but tropes are well loved for a reason! It was interesting however having the whole mystery being told through the eyes of one of the suspects rather than the detective which gave us a sense of urgency but the pacing was a little strange cause there was a whole chunk of the movie where I was like wait are we almost done? Having said that I did love all the characters though and the way they were acted and portrayed and like a special shoutout needs to go to Chris Evans looking absolutely delectable in every single scene of this movie!

Jumanji: The Next Level

Coming in at number 6 is Jumanji: The Next Level! I adored the prequel to this movie so much that I was low key afraid to check this movie out but after I did I was so glad cause it was just as fun as I wanted it to be. I think half the fun of these movies are just watching the actors play weird characters and you can practically see how much of a blast the cast it having. Ironically this is one of the only action movies in which the plot and action matter so little cause we're all attached to the characters! I loved the idea of all the main characters ending up in new video game bodies cause it allowed them to have to relearn how to do well in this game and in a meta sense gave us a reason to go back and have a sequel so that it wasn't just a repeat of the first movie. Honestly I'm still stunned that this movie didn't flop!

Spiderman: Homecoming

At number 5 is Spiderman: Far From Home! Though I think I enjoyed Spiderman: Homecoming a lot more than this movie I still had plenty of fun! I really liked the version of Peter we got in this movie and how tired and worn down he was cause it's like he's just a kid and he's mourning the man who helped him become who he is and I totally understood why he latched onto Mysterio so quickly even though Mysterio was walking around with a villain sticker practically plastered to his forehead. I also loved seeing Ned and the whole cast again but I do think the romance with MJ kinda went from 0 to 100 in this movie and the whole Europe setting was totally underutilized cause there was nothing in this movie that said that it couldn't take place in NYC. I really loved the ending though cause it leaves so many cool places for the MCU to go.

Avengers: Endgame

At number 4 is Avengers: Endgame! Though I might be like the only person on this planet that wasn't blown away by Endgame, I was still so into watching this movie and having a blast doing it! I loved that this was a culmination of 10 years of our lives and that it gave such lovely endings to so many characters that we won't see again and gave so many characters a new path to walk. I wasn't the hugest fan of the whole time travel aspect of the movie cause it felt too much like one of those let's look back on all we've experienced kind of things but at the same time we got so many beautiful moments in the final fight with Thanos that I can't help but be excited. I do think that Thor was reduced to close too a joke for all the trauma he had been through and I just can't see him giving up and walking away from his people at the end of the film but I do think that Steve's ending was perfect for him cause my romantic heart thinks that he deserves to spend his life with the one woman he loved!

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Coming in at number 3 is Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker! Surprised at how high this movie ended up being? Low key so am I! I haven't been the hugest fan of this new Star Wars trilogy and Last Jedi was honestly meh but I actually really ended up enjoying this conclusion to the Skywalker Saga. Maybe it has to do with my extremely low expectations going in but I didn't have any complaints with this movie and unlike many others I didn't nitpick at the plot holes cause I just straight up turned my brain off. Yeah yeah Palpatine returning was out of nowhere and yeah yeah a lot of this movie felt like course correcting from Last Jedi but I loved the way Rey and Ben were the heart of this movie and the return of Palpatine and Rey's parentage and the way that the movie used Leia after Carrie's passing! Leia's passing made me cry as did the final scene between Ben and Rey oddly enough which was super unexpected cause I never liked Ben until this movie!

Aladdin

Coming in at number 2 is Aladdin! Remember when I talked about how some Disney movies are hits earlier? Well this is one of those! I just can't describe to you just how much fun I had watching this movie and this is coming from a girl who's favorite Disney animated movie is Aladdin! I was a bit worried at the start of the film cause I didn't particularly think Mena who played Aladdin seemed like an Aladdin in posters but as soon as I saw him act, I was blown away! He was this perfect mix of smooth and dorky and charming all in one. Jasmine was stunning and just as feisty as I wanted her to be. I loved the small changes to the movie and how Jasmine was placed at the center and how her new goal was to become Sultan and how the movie picked some of the Broadway songs to throw in. Will Smith as the Genie was amazing and I loved that it was so different than the Robin Williams's genie. The colors and cinematography was perfect and if I had only one complaint it would be that I wasn't the hugest fan of this Jafar.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

And finally, at number 1 is Pokemon: Detective Pikachu! I mean how could it not have been?? I am a huge Pokemon fan having grown up with the cartoons (I was a Pokemon Advanced generation lover) and the games so of course I had to go see this movie but the surprise was in just how much of a blast I had! I mean yeah yeah the plot was totally ice thin and yeah yeah the final twist banked on the main character not recognizing his father's voice but seriously I could not care less about any of that! I loved seeing all the different Pokemon reimagined into real life and how they were the perfect mix of cute and real. I loved the world that the movie built and the way the Pokemon existed and helped. I loved Pikachu and his caffeine addiction! I just don't have enough words to describe how I squealed every other minute while sitting in the theater!

I'll see you all tomorrow for my Top 10 TV Shows of 2019!

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Welcome To Demon School Iruma-Kun Episode 12

This week's episode was all about the hunt for the perfect Battler aka club! I think it's so creative that this show is basically a slice of life but in a magic school so at first glance you don't notice how you're basically going through the same trope-y episodes as a school slice of life! Now don't get me wrong, I adore slice of life school dramas so I'm super down but I just love how it never feels like a slice of life episode until I think about it afterwards. Having said that I'm super hoping that we end up getting a beach episode of something similar cause that would slay me. I really thought that maybe Iruma would end up joining the Student Council cause Ameri is there and if Battlers are used to go up in ranks then Iruma would need to join a real one but I think that he'll end up joining the Magical Apparatus one which low key sucks cause I want Iruma to do well and with only one member of that Battler, it's not as fun as if he joined the Student Council! I do wonder if the new character we met was the one who made that ring for Iruma and if he did how it ended up in that owl! As a sidebar I was a living for Clara continuously trying to join the Succubus Battler and Azz dragging her away like you have no chance with it cause not only was it hilarious and a nice callback to a previous episode but it reminded me how much I loved that Clara centric episode and how much I low key want her to seduce Iruma!

Special 7: Special Crime Investigation Unit Episode 11

This episode really did this to us huh?? It ramped up the stakes and the story only to stop and leave the best for next week which is the finale! I was complaining last week that it made no sense that Special 7 was targeted by the police force and now we find out that the Public Safety leader was a follower of Warlock from the start so that's why he always hated the Special 7 unit but I do think that this was a bit out of nowhere cause if this character had been shown more we would have been more shocked. Instead when the reveal happened I was like oh okay I think I know who this dude is. Luka was also returned to normal through the power of Nijou's love which I know I should be complaining about but it makes sense cause Luka's love for Nijou was his strongest emotion so of course that's what would help him break the brainwashing not to mention the fact that last week we saw that he's been getting flashes of his life only to ignore them. The biggest reveal though was defs the fact that Boss was a dragon! I know the dragons are supposed to have nine heads aka 9 people with the dragon power but I wonder if we're supposed to think that there's only three in the human world right now (Boss, Warlock and Seiji) or if there are others out there.

FINISHED Stand My Heroes: Piece Of Truth Episode 12

Though the finale of this show aired this week it terms of story it feels like we ended on a bit of a cliffhanger in that it felt like the show wanted to make a season 2 cause the overall mystery was solved but not everything was wrapped up. As we found out last week Miyase was the one who was distributing Plus and trying to frame Kujo for it. Apparently that scientist that helped make Zero and Miyase's mom were in love but Kujo's dad separated them and I'm pretty sure he raped Miyase's mom based on what we saw about how scared she was when she saw how much Miyase looked like his father and so when Miyase found out he decided that he needed to get revenge on the Kujo family. Like I never suspected Miyase as the bad guy, I also never expected him to be the kid that had the package! In the end though we figured out what was happening and obviously stopped Plus from hitting the streets Miyase got away and because of that STAND was almost destroyed before it got off the ground but in the end I think STAND was okay cause Aoyama mentioned how he was planning on joining STAND now that he solved the Anonymous Case. Overall I had fun with this show and I liked the mystery but I do wish that there was a romance for Rei preferably with Aoyama who totally freaked out the most when he found out that Rei and Miyase were together so my shipper brain is low key content.

FINISHED Assassin's Pride Episode 12

The finale for this anime aired this week and tbh it was fairly disappointing. I had a feeling that this show wouldn't end in a satisfactory way cause there was so much to plot to deal with and so little time. We know for a fact that Melida received Kufa's mana in episode 1 but we had no idea if Melida was an illegitimate child or not and I feel like we still don't know cause we know for a fact that Melida has no mana but does that mean that she's not an Angel? Her father mentioned that he had a relative that was part of the Samurai mana class which in his mind means that Melida is of his blood but like is that true?? Why was there such an emphasis on Melida being a supposed incompetent girl if in the end it meant nothing in terms of her lineage? We also know nothing about that Duke who was leading the charge on outing Melida as a bastard cause his plan obviously didn't work cause Melida was a badass who was trained by Kufa but like he just killed everyone who was in his way and pretended like he had no idea about what happened. Is this an attempt for a season 2? I did like that Melida was able to prove her strength and show the others that she wasn't incompetent but I do wish we had gotten more. Overall I had a fun time with this show if I ignored the overarching plot and just watched the show at face value.

FINISHED The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 8

What a finale guys! We seemed to have pretty much gotten rid of everyone from season 1 so that we can have more of a clean slate for season 2 and I don't know if that's a good thing or not cause the only real complaint I have about this show is the fact that Mando doesn't have a permanent or even semi-permanent crew! Not only are the guild leader and ex-Rebellion member staying on the planet we first started this show on but we have pretty much lost every single Mandalorian that this show introduced us to cause apparently instead of moving to a new location after they were exposed in the early episodes, they decided to return to where they were so that they could be slaughtered. I couldn't decide if I knew the name Moff Gideon before in some other canon but the strangest part was when he ended up not only surviving both a bombing of his ship and a crash landing of his ship but the fact that he has a darksaber! I didn't know there was more than one out there and the last I heard of one was in Star Wars: Rebels where Sabine held it and that took place pre-A New Hope so either there's another one that Gideon found or he stole Sabine's. I low key hope that Sabine can pop up later in this show cause I'm sure she'd be an adult now and since she was a cartoon, we can cast whoever the hell we want! My favorite scene though hilariously has to be the opening where those Storm Troopers were fighting over whether one could look at Baby Yoda or not but I also loved everything with Nurse IG unit too! Overall I did really enjoy this show and it finally feels like we're getting a plot for season 2 with finding out Baby Yoda's species and returning him to his home so I'm content!

Harley Quinn Season 1 Episode 5

This episode wasn't as fun as the last one cause the twist at the end was something I thought was pretty well known in terms of Harley's origin story but I guess the show just wanted to spell it out for people who didn't actually know the truth. Though Joker did cause Harley to fall in love with him, it was Harley herself who actually jumped into the vat of chemicals to prove her love for him so it all depends on semantics about whether you believe that Joker was responsible for Harley or if Harley was herself. I do still love this world and the characters and how they end up in the strangest situations which is really winning me over cause you all know how much I love silliness in a show! I did love seeing all the flashbacks to Harley as a child though I don't know if I ever knew that Harley wasn't completely sane as a child cause my head-canon was always that the chemicals did it but I'm not married to this idea so I'm cool with this new version of Harley who was pretty messed up from the start. I also love the new lair that we got but I'm surprised that we ended up going that route cause I did love Ivy's old place and I hope that we get to fix up the new one like makeover style!

What Dramas Am I Watching This Week?

So here's what I'm watching this week! Of course the list is split by country and the amount of episodes I've seen so far are written below! There will be spoilers from now on so if you aren't caught to the episode number on list, you might want to go watch that episode and then come back! If you're interested in previous lists, click here and if you want to see a list of my favorite asian OTPs and ships, click here!

KDRAMA

Love With Flaws (20/32):A romantic comedy about a woman who has an aversion for flower boys and a man who has an obsession with appearance as they overcome the prejudices against people with flaws. Joo Seo Yeon is a hot-blooded physical education high school teacher with a strong personality. 365 days and 24 hours, she is wearing her training uniform or jeans and sneakers. Because she suffered hardships due to her handsome older and younger brothers, she hates flower boys. Her ideal type is a “not handsome guy”. She will enter into conflicts with handsome Lee Kang Woo in everything. Lee Kang Woo is the chairman of boards of the high school. He is a man who is incredibly arrogant and is obsessed with appearance. He likes the attention of others and loves his looks. He spends 12 hours of his day to improve his looks. He has a flawless and handsome appearance. However, he has a secret that no one knows: he is suffering from past trauma. 15 years ago, he was overweight and ugly. This was when he got rejected by Seo Yeon. He had to change school after he had acute enteritis in the school bus. While meeting with a well-known psychologist, he realized that his irritable bowel syndrome disorder is connected to that girl of 15 years ago. He became the chairman of the school she is working at. She has changed so much, in the past, she hated ugly men and now hates handsome men.

Did I or did I not call it last week?? I knew that Seo Yeon's parents got into that accident because Seo Yeon wanted to go see Kang Woo and because of that she would pull away from him. I'm on the fence with this cause on the one hand I want to see all the angst but on the other I'm pissed that the two literally just started dating ten minutes ago and they're already over. I can never get behind these noble idiocy stories cause you know that Seo Yeon's parents would never blame her for what happened or would want her to make herself miserable out of guilt! On that note I want to shout out the second male lead who's a complete asshole and how much I want him to disappear from this show. He's the worst cause he's so fake, acting like a good guy around Seo Yeon while going around and hurting Kang Woo behind their backs cause he has this inferiority complex about his cousin. I don't even know how much he's actually into Seo Yeon cause it seems like he spent years being quiet about it and then only stepped up once he realized Kang Woo was into her too. Who knows if he would have made a move if Seo Yeon was flirting with some other guy. I'm also pissed as hell that Kang Woo's mom is totally going to be a thorn in their sides cause rich moms hating the female leads are my least favorite storylines EVER! You would think that the mom would be happy that Kang Woo finally likes a girl but nope she's obviously not hand-picked by the mom so of course Kang Woo made a mistake. On another note I'm still so into the two elder brothers and their romances cause I loved Won Jae and Kang Hee connecting and how protective Won Suk feels about Ho Dol even though he doesn't want to! I even love the awkward one-sided interest between Mi Kyung and Hyun Soo!
Psychopath Diary (12/16): Yook Dong Sik was running away from the scene of a murder and got into an accident. After waking up, he had no recollections of his memory and does not even know who he is. He only has with him a diary that recorded the process of murders and mistakes himself as a serial psychopath killer. Yook Dong Sik, a 34-year-old employee. He thinks that he is a psychopath. He is so weak and timid that he can’t refuse anything at work and people at his office are using him. He became the scapegoat at his company. All his friends, colleagues and family are turning his back on him. He decided to leave this world and even wrote a suicide note. The place he decided to commit suicide is the murder scene. He got amnesia because of an accident at the scene and got the psychopath’s dairy in his hands. When he woke up, he thinks that he is the murderer. Shim Bo Kyung, a 30-year-old, neighborhood police officer. She meets Dong Sik when he has amnesia. The more she knows about his story, the more she finds an unexpected look in him. She wants to catch the serial killer with Dong Sik as a partner of investigation. Seo In Woo, 36-year-old, the director of the company Dong Sik works in. He is a cold and meticulous psychopath who lost his diary. On the day of his 7th crime, he met Dong Sik and things went wrong. He lost his diary where all his daily life and course of crime was written.

I'm hoping that now that Dong Sik was framed as the serial killer and went to jail for it that I'll finally be able to enjoy this show again. I had wished that he would have gotten his memories back and figured out what In Woo was doing so that he could play him back while also working with Bo Kyung to find the real killer but unfortunately Bo Kyung was just as dumb as Dong Sik was this week. I mean I totally get why the head cop went along with Dong Sik being the killer cause he actually knew from the start who the real killer was but decided for some unknown reason to suddenly become a corrupt cop and blackmail In Woo's father and the whole time I was like you're going to die you damned moron but Bo Kyung should have been smarter. I mean if you're going to base your whole murder case on a diary then shouldn't they have run a handwriting test?? It's literally all the proof they have about the killings so it should have been a bigger deal. I was super relieved though that Dong Sik actually didn't kill that cop last week so at least there's that but it's low key ridiculous that Bo Kyung started to second guess everything after Dong Sik was outed to the public and went to jail like seriously girl if you had doubts why not step up first??
Stove League (4/16): Baek Seung Soo is the newly appointed general manager of professional baseball team Dreams. The team ranks bottom of the league. Lee Se Young is the operations manager of the team and also a big fan of the baseball team. She has so much love for Dreams and she never gives up on the team. Han Jae Hee, an energetic man, who is the grandson of a furniture maker. Kim Young Chae, who is a softball player turned sports announcer. Yoo Min Ho, a pitcher, who is crazy about baseball.

My goodness this show is low key amazing! It's so dramatic and tense but so much fun since the stakes for the politics aren't life or death! Seung Soo is still the best character in this show and I'm loving how deadpan he is in pretty much every situation but seriously I'm loving how he's leagues smarter than every other person on this show. I assumed that he has his own agenda for the team even though the Executive Director wants to disband the team and we learned this week that the reason for the disbandment is that the team is losing billions which of course makes a ton of sense as to why they'd want to get rid of it so in Seung Soo's mind I'm sure he's thinking that if he gets Dreams to first place or even to third then they can make back that loss and the team won't have to be disbanded. I am seriously living for how he's cleaning house and getting rid of any and all problems in the team but part of me is still wondering why the others haven't caught up yet and realized that he's almost always right so stop getting in his way. I also still love Se Young cause she's still the awesome character I loved from the first two episodes with how she first follows her emotions before becoming more rational. I seriously hope there's some romance between our leads even though there's no romance tag cause I low key love them together so I'd even take a hint of a possible relationship in the finale!
FINISHED V.I.P. (32/32): VIP is a drama that seeks to find an answer in the secretive relationships we hold in today’s society. Jung Sun is a competent and successful career woman who works as a deputy manager at Sung Woon Department Store. Her job as a member of the VIP Management Team is to satisfy their top one percent of customers who are the special VIPs and VVIPs. Not only is she professional at work, but she has a happy household with a wonderful husband, Sung Jun. However, one day she receives an anonymous text message. It says that her romantic husband is having an affair with someone at the office. Anxious to lose everything she has, she desperately studies the office and her co-workers to find out the woman Sung Jun is seeing. In the course of events, secrets behind each of the workers at the VIP Management Team are revealed. Will Jung Sun find out the truth behind the anonymous text message?

The finale for this show aired this week and though I'm totally heartbroken that this show is over, I loved the finale and I really just want to shout out how amazing it is that this show had such perfect writing and execution from start to finish cause 80% of the dramas I watch start out so strong and putter to an end. I was so worried at the start of this finale that Jung Sun might take back Sung Jun especially after his mother came to visit cause Jung Sun deserved better and there was no way I was going to forgive his dumb ass so I didn't want her too! It's especially nice cause Sung Jun clearly realized how much he truly lost (like his mom told him) and while he was doing that he also lost Yu Ri so he'll really be alone. Speaking of Yu Ri, I know I've been shitting on her for a while now but low key I'm glad she picked money and prestige over Sung Jun cause beyond the vindictive stuff a part of me was like you could actually do a lot better than a married man being the daughter of a chaebol family Yu Ri and Sung Jun doesn't seem like that much of a catch so why throw your life away for him?? I still high key shipped Jung Sun with Sang Woo but I'm really okay with where Jung Sun ended the show cause sometimes the happy ending is just loving yourself and if she hadn't divorced Sung Jun then she wouldn't be. I'd give this drama a 9.5 / 10 cause it was so well-acted, produced, and written despite the plot which really should have caused me to hate it!

What Shows Am I Watching This Week?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Let's dive right in shall we?

Welcome To Demon School Iruma-Kun Episode 11

Every week I watch this anime and think to myself how much I adore it. It's not as laugh-out-loud bust a gut funny anymore but I think that's mostly just cause I've gotten used to this show now! Having said that I did laugh so hard when it was an episode about getting to know your familiars cause Iruma's familiar is of course one of the teachers which is always amazing. We learned this week that the familiars take the form that best suits their master so course cute little Iruma caused Kalego to become a cute fuzzy white demon form! I was living for him being angry out of his mind but also having to play along with the lesson cause the new teacher was reading Kalego's book on how to be a teacher and he didn't want to ruin the lesson. I tried so hard not to scream when he had to play fetch with that Frisbee cause it was literally the most horrific for Kalego who walked over to that Frisbee like it was a death sentence! Seriously the more we get familiar Kalego, the better! The second part of the episode had to do with Iruma learning about Battlers which is the demon version of clubs though I'm curious to find out why they're hunting for first years. Do first years not really want to join Battlers or is it supposed to be more of a hide-and-seek type situation though Iruma didn't really follow that?

Special 7: Special Crime Investigation Unit Episode 10

I feel like I've missed an episode or something cause why all of a sudden is Public Safety against Special 7 to the degree that the members of the team have to hide from the police? Like I mean we've seen for a while that Special 7 isn't respected as a task force but that feels like small potatoes compared to what's happening now. We haven't seen anything to hint that Warlock or anyone from Nine has snuck their way into Public Safety and it also can't be a method of blaming Warlock's escape on Special 7 cause Public Safety turned before the fake Warlock trial so what's going on? On another note I was right about Seiji being half a dragon but as it turned out Warlock actually wanted Seiji to be his puppet like Luka is now instead of being a sacrifice to gain the dragon power like I thought but somehow Seiji ended up stealing all the dragon power that Warlock was supposed to get through the airport attack which pissed Warlock off. I don't particularly understand why or how he stole the power but I wonder if it's cause Seiji is good. This brings me back to the question from a few weeks ago where I was wondering whether dragons are sentient and can make their own decisions and whether they're good or bad. I do like that Ichinose doesn't blame Seiji for what happened and I'm sure that when Nijou finds out, neither will he. I do hope they're able to save Luka cause it does look like it was some sort of mind wipe or mind control thing cause when Nijou was talking to him, Luka was getting some of his memories back!

Stand My Heroes: Piece Of Truth Episode 11

Omg talk about a twist! Is Miyase the bad guy after all?? I had completely been on the Kujo is the bad guy train for a while cause he just seems so sketch and though I did wonder this week if one of the guys in Kujo's home was the real bad guy who framed Kujo for the drugs, I seriously never suspected Miyase which makes him such a good actor! I do wonder how he's related to what happened in the past and whether he has a connection with Hattori's old partner cause there's no way that everything we learned in the past few weeks about the Anonymous Case is pointless! I'm still waiting to figure out whether Maki is the one with the proof that we need and what the proof could be. With the finale airing next week I don't know if there is enough time for another twist or turn but I feel like we still aren't close enough to the truth! Most of the episode felt like we were treading water until the end and now it feels like we're back to square one. I still do think it's silly that Rei told Kujo's men everything cause it's like girl what if you saying all that tips off the real bad guy who probs thought that he was in the clear after Kujo got arrested?? I also really did like the conversation between Kujo and Aoyama cause it showed us how different the two men are. Both are from wealthy families that were involved in Plus all those years ago but while Kujo is of the mind to just cover up the past and prevent it from happening in the future, Aoyama is actively trying to do more good in the world and that's why he's my favorite member of this show without a doubt.

The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 7

This was the penultimate episode and it was just as tense as I expected it to be! I loved the cliffhanger we ended on and I still can't help but wonder why oh why Mando won't go to the New Republic for help! There are clearly tons of the Empire still floating around (and duh it was a whole community not just two people like the movies want you to believe) and if they want Baby Yoda the smart move is to take it somewhere the Empire can't follow whether that's directly to Coruscant or some other Core or Mid Rim world. It low key sucks though cause we know that the drudges of the Empire stay in the Outer Rim and eventually form the First Order and the New Republic falls within like 30 years so even though I say that Mando should go for help I'm not sure how much help they can get anyway. I did love that we saw the return of characters from earlier episodes including that female shock trooper who I loved and the guild leader who's now on our side cause apparently Baby Yoda can use the Force to heal. Someone on the internet joked that Baby Yoda might use the Dark Side cause of how much killing he's watching Mando do and this week he tried to Force Choke someone and suddenly it doesn't feel that much of a joke anymore. I wonder if this new Empire bad guy will finally shed some light on Baby Yoda and whether he's a clone or a real child and where he came from and whether he's from a specific alien species.

Assassin's Pride Episode 11

I feel like I'm not going to understand what in the world the House Of Shicksal is after and why the man of the house is forcing all the other royal families to play on until the show explains it to me in great detail. Passing the library test apparently told each girl what their mana class was and I'm assuming that being like yeah we stole some of Melida's blood will be looked down on by society but showing up with her library book certification will be better. I'm not sure I understand the big picture though cause it's like while the girls took Melida's certification, the rest of the school was supposed to be murdered by a dark guild and I'm sitting here like what the hell! Unfortunately with next week being the finale for this show I have a feeling that I won't get the answers I want! Why is proving Melida's a bastard so important to the nobility? Melida's father would have been one thing but seriously it's no one else's business! Will we ever find out who Melida's real dad is? Probs not. At the very least I liked that Williams Gin from earlier in the season came back to help cause Kufa really seems to have a way with the lycanthropes that keep being sent to him! I wonder if this show is supposed to have a multi-season arc cause I just can't see the whole story wrapped up cause even now we're still setting up new things like Kufa's boss apparently having a cure to lycanthropy which Williams wants.

Harley Quinn Season 1 Episode 4

This was a great episode to build out the DC world of Harley Quinn a lot more so that we're outside the Batman world and though a lot of them were just cameos, it was great anyway! We finally met Superman and Lois, saw a little more of Wonder Woman and caught a glimpse of Aquaman. It's making the world feel so much more lived in and I'll for it! I loved that the plot of this week's episode was that Harley wanted a nemesis to get more news screen time and at the same time so did Damian cause everyone else on the Teen Titans has one. This is actually really hilarious to think about cause when you're watching something like Teen Titans you don't even think about how completely weird it is that a grown man like Slade is fighting a bunch of kids but this show really spelled it out for us and it's kinda insane in the funniest way and I low key wish that Slade had popped up at some point when Harley was screaming about how her nemesis wasn't a kid to be like yo there's nothing wrong with fighting kids! We also met King Shark and he's going to be joining Harley's squad and I'm also low key curious about whether Ivy will end up moving out of her current apartment cause I already love it so much. She's the best part of this show and I died when she went on tv and was like I'm not a supervillain, I'm a eco-terrorist while Kite Man sat in the bar and fangirled over her. Boy same.
